As per custom, Shadowstar stood facing the young warrior. Her goal, as always, was for every cat in her clan to grow into their own best Warrior. As part of that, challenging them to battles would help them develop their skills. It also helped her gauge their power-levels and competences.
If it ever came to deploying her cats to battle, she had to make sure she always knew where best to put them based on their own strengths. She knew nothing about Silentblaze's abilities and so this particular battle couldn't come soon enough.
Per her usual, she took off as soon as he seemed ready. At least she hoped that what he was signaling. Too late now, tackle to the ribs.

Silentblaze bowed her head in respect to her leader. She felt honored that the other was willing to work with her today. After her injury during the battle she'd been off her paws for what felt forever. She needed this reset so badly.
She flexed her front paw, hopping from paw to paw trying to loosen herself up. She stopped and tensed up as the attack came. She tried to dodge, but got a good hit in instead. Yikes, the paw was making her slow. She managed to stay on her paws and unshethed her claws to try and return the attack.

Shadowstar observed how she was acting, particularly watching the paw. This was a practice battle, and she was clan, so the paws became of limits. Rather, she worked out the bets course of attack while forming a plan to better help.
If Silentblaze couldn't reliably move that way, then ambush, terrian and quick turns at the rear would give her some mobility. Sure, she could tell her all that, but it was more fun to show it. Moving slow, but delibrate, she started trotting around in a half moon before reaching out her paw to bop Silentblaze's right flank. 'Good hit was always good motivation', she thought with a smile.

Silentblaze's large ears flickered as she followed Shadowstar, watching the other move around her. She knew taking her eyes off the other would be the wrong move and she'd be left flat on her face.
She waited, wondering what the other was trying to teach her. As soon as the boop touched her and batted it away and leaped onto the other, watching the paw as she did and attempted a bite down on the other.

Teaching was never easy, case in point, that hurt! Leaping back, Shadowstar shook of that bite that she very, very clearly felt. Rather than be angry about it, she marveled, "You pack a lot of fight behind that bite." Clearly going easier on her to teach was not going to go well.
That didn't mean she stopped the battle. Instead she went for a side attack with a running body blow.

Silentblaze beamed at the other's compliment. "Thank you! It helps to have a strong teacher where I don't have to hold back." she said honestly. She was giving it her all despite the hurt paw. Speaking of...
She found herself on the ground the world spinning around her. Their leader sure knew how to sweep a cat off its feet! She took a moment, attempting to get back on her paws, but found she couldn't. She was panting and waved a paw at her. "I think I need a moment..."
That had been brilliant! She'd have to remember it.
