What are their names?: Chosen Nightwraith and Mirage Nightwraith
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?: Chosen was named a prophecy child from birth: from his appearance to the name his smug mother gave him, responsibility and expectations have been foisted upon him. But for a berserker, Chosen was rather mild-mannered and intellectual, and as a pup was afraid of what he was being pushed to be. His very being caused a schism in the clan between those that supported the old tyrant alpha and those that wanted to put Chosen in his place--not as a leader, but as a puppet. He would have had a twisted upbringing had his sister not intervened.

Mirage was the only one that treated him without open manipulation. She became his mentor in the art of politicking and fighting, his closest friend, and his bodyguard against those that would kill him when when they grew older, at least until he was able to defend himself. Now he holds a life-debt he can't hope to repay but will strive to upkeep relentlessly as they travel away from their home in search of someplace better.

He's unaware of her own ambitions and deeply respects Mirage as a warrior and as his kin. Chosen would prefer to think of it as his coat happening to match her warpaint instead of the other way around.
Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?: Nightwraith. The wolves who could blend into the darkness, seemingly become one with them. And yet her brother broke away from that tradition, leaving Mirage to be just another phantom black shape in the throng. But she wasn't content to be unobserved, no. She knew the eyes that watched Chosen were not benevolent, and that their mother supported plans to christen him alpha, by force if necessary.

And so she became Chosen's second shadow, a literal mirage in the night. His shield and sword in that darkness. And yet all the while as they grew, she too began to see the merits of being close to a white-marked berserker. She could leverage that for her own benefit under better circumstances. Mirage loved her brother, but she was an opportunist; her goodwill could double as a means of fastening herself to the rising star that was Chosen. He could be a good alpha, and she could reap the benefits of it. Just not with these cretins.

It wasn't actually Mirage's idea to get white warpaint, but her brother's. Chosen wanted them to match so that they could both be stared at with want and awe. She deserved it more than he did, he said. And while Mirage would never want something bad to happen to her brother, she couldn't help but secretly agree. For the pack had seen his white fur and called him chosen one, but they had neglected the one with white eyes that saw beyond their petty lot.

What are their names?: Grim Vulture (M) & Sable Vulture (F)
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?:
Grim accepts that what is done must be done. He loves Sable dearly, perhaps because she has always loved him more than she loves herself, though he has troubled, mixed feelings regarding the danger she (and his peers) put themselves in to protect him. If the clan were truly to find real trouble because of their rumors, he doesn't know that he could let any of them lie to save him, nor does he necessarily believe in the weight they place upon his shoulders.
Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?:
Long ago, before their father's father's father was even born, the Vulture clan was said to be descended from a non-inheriting branch of the royal clan. They were the get of a daughter that married into a strong, if somewhat unremarkable, clan for the sake of alliances. Over time, their connection was all but forgotten by the rest of the realm as the Ravens ruled the berserkers well and led them through prosperous times. Yet an old prophecy was whispered among the Vultures, first spoken on the tongue of a seer whose name was lost to time, that a white-marked wolf would one day be born among the Vultures and that wolf would lead their clan to glory during dark days. White-marked wolves were unheard of among the Vulture clan and though the prophecy persisted as a bedtime story told to small pups, little weight was put upon the rumor.

Until Grim was born.

Grim's birth was a shockwave through the Vulture clan and with the King growing supsicious of even his own kin, they felt they could not risk him hearing of their old prophecy and coming after the male. Every pup born in Grim's generation marks themselves with white to hide him among their kin; his sister, Sable, is the most dedicated. She dyes large swaths of her fur to stand out and would claim to be the true wolf of prophecy if it meant protecting him.

What are their names?: Painted and Blank
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?: Blank was born first by several months. Names were not given to either of them at first, as was tradition within the family. Once a pup reached the age of being able to eat meat they would be bestowed a name. The point was to ensure the name fit, but nothing seemed to fit Blank. In fact, as a puppy he rarely expressed anything. He didn't emote, didn't talk, and showed an absence in his eyes that worried his mother. Perhaps that was why they had another litter -- to replace the child that unsettled them so.

Painted was a more vibrant child from the start. Curious and always in something, she earned her name easily by the amount of times she cooed at warpaint on other wolves. She'd always clamber about having her own some day.

Blank was born with white in his fur, which thrilled his mother and interested his father. He wasn't pure white, no, but it was something. The clan held him in higher esteem than his sister. Painted admired the white in his fur and would often plead and beg for warpaint to resemble his markings. She trailed after him often, following her more absent brother in hopes he'd enjoy her company. He never really did. It didn't matter at that time. All that mattered was one thing to him; getting away from the clan.

He hated it -- the attention. Hated the eyeballs and interest from his clan members. He just wanted to live in peace and quiet, honestly. He liked the idea of leaving. Exploring to find something better. His sisters attention only annoyed him, and as time went on and she eventually adorned herself in warpaint to resemble him he felt a deep irritation in his chest.

Painted felt something akin to jealously alongside her adoration. She wanted that attention he so hated.

Fed up, Blank abruptly left as an adult. His mother wept and wailed and his father ignored the memory of his son. Painted left after a few days, catching up with her brother in the process. He has since desperately tried to shake her off, even showing a rage so unlike him at times.

Ever since, they've fluctuated from traveling together to being alone. Blank has shaken her off time to time, but Painted always comes back. Blank feels something growing in his chest, and he isn't sure what it is. All he knows is if something doesn't change soon, he might not have a sister anymore.

What are their names?: Hemlock and Mandrake
What are their personalities?: Mandrake can be a bit of a lazy wolf when it comes to getting started on a task. It's a trait he's always had since he was born - and it saved his life. He is completely capable of putting one hundred and ten percent into a task once he's begun, there's just a bit of an inner turmoil that occurs in his mind that causes him to work a little harder at actually beginning said task. He'd much rather lay around just a few minutes longer! Or daydream about his next meal. But once he's up and about, Mandrake can be a force to be reckoned with.

While he knows, deep down in his soul, that Hemlock is insane, he adores his sister and has made it his life honor to protect her. For he is, an honorable creature. Where Hemlock will goes into a fit of rage, Mandrake will challenge another fairly. A fight to the death is a fair way to go out. He tries his absolute best to keep Hemlock out of sight from others, to avoid situations that would force his paw to do an unfavorable deed. Like take a life in a such a sneaky and disgraceful way. But he is highly protective of Hemlock and for her, he will disgrace his honor. However, he exacts a toll from himself for it. For every wolf that he is forced to assassinate, he accepts the bites his sister gives him as his penance. Unfortunately, having dealt with the pain of her bites for so long, and seeing them as a way to keep his honor in tact, Mandrake has developed a twisted liking for it.

A masochist, Mandrake no longer fears the lashing out from his sister. He readily accepts it and enjoys it. For he knows, that it is the only way to soothe the dangerous creature she has become. And it is the only way for him to upkeep the only bit of his soul that is still honorable.

Hemlock is unpredictable and impulsive at the same time. She teeters between downright cruel to almost childlike. Hemlock is always doing something. Giving her brother more problems by the day. She’s incredibly curious and will put her nose where it doesn’t belong. She’s also confident in her power and will happily (perhaps even joyfully) throw herself into a fight just to get blood on her claws. Hemlock lashes out the moment she takes offense to something, and that’s often. Something in her snapped a while ago, leaving Hemlock in a state of almost constant frenzy.

She is unable to understand when she does something wrong. It just doesn’t compute -- how could she, Hemlock, be in the wong? It’s always someone else. Usually Mandrake, honestly. She bites him for anything wrong she does, on top of anything she perceives he messed up. Her logic is he should have stopped her from making a mistake. It’s his job, in her eyes, to ensure everything she does is right and absolute. Greater offenses result in her quite literally taking a chunk out of him,

In her own twisted way, she loves him. Mandrake is the only wolf who treated her like she was someone. She is possessive of her brother and goes absolutely feral if someone intervenes. It has never crossed her mind he might want a life of his own, and should it ever dawn on her the outcome won’t be pretty.

Give us a small history of what life has been like for this duo: Hemlock and Mandrake come from a rather twisted and corrupt clan. Born first, Hemlock was raised to be heiress to leadership to the clan. While unconventional for Berserker culture, the clan always cherished the first of the litter. Mandrake was the last born of their litter, although he was not the runt.

The litter was rather fierce upon birth, causing wounds on the mother by how they’d fight to share her warmth and milk. Mandrake was the only pup not to lash out at the others. Eventually, once the puppies had teeth a fight broke out and Hemlock won. In her frenzy she murdered the other puppies, although Mandrake was spared as he did not participate. As he was the only other surviving pup they began to bond to the point Hemlock would lash out at her parents if they got too close to her brother.

As she grew older her father began to take out his anger on her. Hemlock was to be the best. She had already proven herself by taking out the other puppies (a twisted delight the clan had). Her father would bite her viciously every time she failed at something. This kept going until she was a full grown adult. Hemlock would rely on Mandrake on comfort during this time.

The siblings grew up vastly different. Mandrake was able to think clearly for himself, while Hemlock seemed to regress and remain in an almost childlike state. She had the ability to comprehend things, but her responses to the situations around her was a strange glee. It helped her cope, although one evening it wasn’t enough.

Her father took a chunk out of her in-front of the clan for losing a deer during a hunt, and Hemlock whirled. She murdered her father right then and there and turned on the clan, chasing one of them into the nearby woods while Mandrake tried to understand the situation. It was clear she wasn’t going to stop, as her rampage continued and grew in intensity. Mandrake knew once the clan recollected itself they’d murder her, so he did the only thing he could think of.

He chased Hemlock down and shoved himself between her and a clan member. While before he had always avoided her bites, he didn’t this time -- allowing her to sink her teeth into him. It instantly calmed her, revealing the only trick Mandrake has known in how to calm her. Once calmed, he lured his sister away for the clan and tricked her into a game of chase.

This game only ended once they were suitably lost. Mandrake has traveled with Hemlock since, ensuring her safety and also the safety of others. He protects his sister as best as he can. Hemlock has no desire to find their clan and, for the most part, has enjoyed their travel.

What are their names?: Providence & Kismet
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?: Kismet doesn't particularly like or dislike that she does it - he hates that his parents chose this for her, he hates the fact their entire lives could be undone with the wrong rainstorm at the wrong time. But he likes not being alone; not having the pressure of being the blessed child only on his shoulders. So he understands.
Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?:
The night the two pups were born, the first to arrive into the cold air was of a remarkably simple, black coat. As she was groomed then nudged to cuddle up to her mother a second, a boy soon joined the world. He, however, bore white marks; he looked as he had rested his head and paws in a pool of moonlight - and as though stars rested upon his hackles. Excited murmurs broke out between the parents as he too was cleaned then made to cuddle along with his sister, their futures already set in stone. To birth a white marked pup was a huge blessing in any pack, but the parents feared for their daughter - that she would be seen as lesser in her brother's image. It was in that night, surrounded by loving parents in fuzzy warmth that a lifelong secret was born.

When news broke out among the pack that not one but two white marked pups had been born, much celebration occurred. As the pups grew, pack members assumed the mother hurriedly carrying them off every once in a while as maternal over-protectiveness - these were, after all, blessed twins. In reality she would hurriedly re-apply the white war paint to her young daughter's face and paws.

With time, their parents revealed the truth to their children - they knew they couldn't keep spinning tales to their children forever. And with chaos brewing in the realm, it was possible they wouldn't be around to keep it up. The pair had suspected something was amiss for some time now, but begrudgingly agreed to keep the ruse going. To break suddenly break it, after all, would leave all of their lives in jeopardy. This fact tore at them - that regardless of what they chose, they were destined for pain - but also brought them closer together. The two are now inseparable and would give anything for the other.

What are their names?: Augury (♀) & Omen (♂)
What are their personalities?:
Augury would have done well as a human viking: her ferocity is tempered by her integrity and bolstered by a wellspring of courage against even the worst odds, she loves the sea and the bounties therein, and she believes in a might-makes-right world. Her pride is perhaps her strongest and weakest point, as it can be easily wounded if one knows her well enough. (Assuming she notes your existence.) A former princess, she knows how to conduct herself even with such pride using carefully selected words, but more often than not Augury knows actions speaks far louder, and she's more than willing to agree.

As a calculating soul, one could write off Omen as docile until met with a near feral temper should they cross him. The male typically plans strategically beforehand rather than rushing in blindly though he’s not above delving in, fangs aimed for the jugular of any in his or his sister’s way. Above all else though is the intense loyalty toward the similarly marked female that travels with him, bonded by fate as well as a very unfortunate past. For her, he would toss calculated thought aside and tear in to battle tooth and claw. She is truly all he has left.
Give us a small history on what life has been life for this duo: The siblings were born of a priestess and the alpha in a sea viking style pack along one of the northern coasts. Like all pups, Augury and Omen were taught to hunt and fight, but like their mother they were also inducted in the learning of rites and rituals important to the pack, such as the sea sending of the dead. It was important especially for the alpha's brood to be well-rounded, hence his union to the priestess being a melding of leadership, power, and the blessing of the gods all in one. One day they might be studying the meaning of the clouds, the next learning how to effectively pin down an opponent larger than then.

As the water holds treasures, so too do the plants. Augury and Omen were taught how to transcend their bodies via inhalation of certain burning plant mixtures, useful for reaching into a painless state when fighting as well as seeing what messages the gods send directly. It was this method that allowed the siblings to divine a terrible portent: the impending marriage between their pack and another thievish-style pack would result in ruin. Of course, nobody gave the message a second glance: it was well known that the two were opposed to being married off, even if it did consolidate power into one area on the coast instead of being so many disparate blips on the map, and most saw it as a pitiful attempt to change their fate. And as Augury and Omen knew, a wolf that looked weak was as good as dead in a pack like theirs.

So they did fight. They tore at their would-be bride and groom, demanding obeisance and truth about the insidious plot. But the outsiders knew nothing. For a while, it seemed as if the siblings had truly misinterpreted their visions and cost their families dearly. The wedding would go on, but tensions were high that day. More had been asked as compensation for the unwarranted attack, less rights given to the aggressors in penance.

The wedding was painted red that night, however. The conspiracy Augury and Omen had glimpsed in their visions had been true, their married counterparts merely tools to push that goal forward. Before the ceremony was finished, the legion of the other pack descended upon them when their defenses were lowest, intent upon killing all and taking their portion of land and treasure.

The siblings aren't sure why they survived - perhaps some whim of the gods pitied them for trying to fight the inevitable. For now, they stay close together and lick their wounds, plotting their revenge. For true warriors cannot let this imbalance stand, and their names foretell disaster for their enemies.

What are their names?: Winter's Gaze (Female), Hollow Gaze (Male)
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?: He... Loves isn't strong enough, nor is adore. But he certainly does feel entitled to it - Nobody else is allowed to have Winter's attention like he does. And he very much loves her, and is still confused as to why she doesn't match him naturally. The paint certainly helps, but he wishes she naturally looked it. They are, after all, two halves of a whole.
Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?: He was first born, and born with the blessed white. She is second, his sister, his beloved , one doesn't exist without the other. It confused them as puppies that she didn't bare the same white markings as he did. They were one soul in two parts, how could they be different in any way? As they grew to adulthood, she found a way to make them match, to make them whole again. There were one after all...now they looked it.

What are their names?: Ruthless Passing (male) & Revenge Passing (female)
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?:
Ruthless is wild, crazed, and blood thirsty. Growing up a part of a pack that overthrew itself from within, Revenge was the only other wolf he could trust. Running away together, Ruthless grew up dependent on his sister, he listens to no one save for her. Whatever Revenge plans, he carries out, either alone or more often working claw and claw. She is the only one who can control his madness and he’d have it no other way.

Ruthless will often snap and kill anything in his path if he can, prey or otherwise, save for Revenge. The bond between them is enough that just her sight alone can calm his fury. Around her, Ruthless can truly be himself and while he can’t necessarily show these feelings, he is appreciative of it and would be lost without her.
Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?:

Much like Ruthless, Revenge only places her trust in her brother. She knows he needs her to survive and she would do anything to ensure that he lives on after watching their uncle destroy their own pack from within. While Revenge has her own twisted quirks, she quickly discovered that painting herself to look like her brother was necessary to survive. While her brother remains coldblooded and crazed, she possesses the wit and intellect to bring her brother and herself to succession.

Often she’s been known to use her war paint to disguise herself as her brother to lure prey or trick other wolves off their scent or to their deaths, whichever is needed at the time. There has even been a few times she's used the disguise to save his life, making the enemies think they’d lost him as soon as they turned away. Whatever the reason, she wont stop and its simply become a way to strengthen their bond even deeper than before.

Usernames: Saint Vis & LadyPipen (We're about them titles here)
What are their names?: Regret Harbinger (male) and Malice Harbinger (female)
What are their personalities?: Regret and Malice are very protective over the other, Malice due to the fact she is the only being who knows Regret's secret. His right ear hears nothing, and it makes her very keen to staying on his right side at all times to be his ear. She was the one who watched Regret turn face and witnessing the blood pooling down the side of his head. Although Regret tallies one more life than her, she is probably the more feisty of the siblings if crossed.

Regret is protective of his family, and because of the unknown status of their parents or potential other family members, Malice is his family. If a wolf of any kind approaches his sister on any means he is very protective over her. He figures himself broken, and he sees his sister as pristine and she must remain. Until a wolf he can approve of approaches he will take action against whomever approaches his sister on the wrong paw.
Give us a small history on what life has been life for this duo:
It is unsure who was born first, with how protective the one is of the other there is no label to place. Regret and Malice were born to the same litter, to two Berserkers only remembered by their Harbinger surname. They were born and raised during the Mad King's Rule, which was the rule they knew. When they were young adults, Malice had been considered a ripe female by a King's Guard which started an altercation between the Guard and Regret. Regret fled away with a deaf and bloody ear while the Guard lay lifeless.

Malice had to live with the knowledge that her brother had damned their place in the clan, but she would do anything for her brother. Tied at the hip, she fled with him and helped him overcome his deafness. Marking him with dye to help her in case of a new altercation to help him with his weaker side. As they were on the run, they stumbled into a small clearing within the Forest Ruins in which leans far, far away from the Old Castle but close enough they can see the shadowed form in the distance. Here they protect their lands, giving rest to only those who seek good in their decisions. Awaiting the time they are found, if they are sought after for the life of the Guard left dead.

What are their names?: Hoarfrost Borealis & Bifrost Borealis
Does he like that she does it? Hate it? Feel entitled to her adoration?:
Bifrost first offered to cover his own white fur with dye that's as pitch as Hoarfrost's own fur.... But his heart swells with pride that she refused the solution for the opposite, to proudly don his white color out of her own choice, proud that she has accepted that while he was born with a mark of luck, she has earned her mark of greatness, and that they find themselves on equal footing as two special wolves. Neither demands anything of the other- what they have of each other's heart, spirit and soul, is freely given and cherished, nurtured over a puphood of hurt, learning, and acceptance, and neither of them would trade it for the world.

Why does she feel the need to match her sibling?:
When the Borealis twins were born, their fur set them apart- twins in all but color, Bifrost was instantly set apart. The eldest by seconds, and the one with a bright band of white displayed for the world to see, Bifrost was the special one. The one that was to bring great fortune to the Borealis family, the one destined for greatness.... Hoarfrost was not unloved, nor was she even liked less than her brother. The pair had a rather loving set of parents, but the expectations and pampering differed.

Hoarfrost picked up on it early in life- and set her mind to proving that she could be just as great and grand as her brother, even if she didn't have his special fur- and she proved herself just as much a prodigy as her brother was expected to be, pushing past any limit set for her, working herself to greatness, only to earn momentary pats on the head, a congratulations, before their family returned their attention to Bifrost.

There was only one there who comforted her, who understood that she not only kept up with her brother, but exceeded him in her pursuits. Her brother knew- and he never held it against her. He enjoyed the special attention and pampering- and, despite his proud lineage, had a distaste for the violence that was expected of a berserker. He enjoyed his special station, and the ease it presented, the freedom to explore intellectual pursuits... But he never held it over Hoarfrost's head.

She was the one he confided in- she was the one who trained and perfected the art of war, it was she who defended him and he who tempered her. With age came acceptance and understanding that the world outside of the twins never seemed to gain- that they were each other's better halves, and neither was any worse or better than the other.

Nothing in the world could ever stand against them, so long as they were standing together.
