name: Jane Lembas gender: Female age: 29 height: 5'5" body type: Toned; all of those extra calories from cookies was turned into straight muscle. sexuality: Pansexual rank: C ability: Spontaneous Cookie Creation
O1. describe their abilities. any weakness? strengths? can they control it?
━ Technically, applies to any baked good, dessert, or sweet, henceforth collectively referred to as "baked goods." ━ Can manifest baked goods out of thin air, either stationary or in motion. That is to say, she can summon a cookie in her hand and give it to you politely or she can shoot a cookie at you and give it to you impolitely (and painfully). ━ As this is only spontaneous cookie creation, baked goods cannot be controlled after being created. ━ Very tasty and perfectly baked, just like how grandma used to make them. ━ Not all baked goods are delicious, though many are. For instance, they can be at the perfect temperature to eat, or also be fresh out of the oven hot. A favorite attack is to explode a scalding hot chocolate lava cake in an opponent's face. ━ If other materials are present, baked goods can be combined with said materials. Poison? Better not touch that creme brulee. Acid? A stuffed donut with filling that melts your face off. A piece of metal? Say hello to a knife made out of bread. A grenade? Of course, bread is bbang, so it goes without saying that it can go bang. The chocolate lava cake just got a lot more explosive. Boom. While the potency of the material isn't increased, the effects of a single item can be spread over multiple baked goods without a division of or reduction in power. ━ Baked goods can also be served as delicious alternatives to medicine assuming if, as with its more destructive options, the medicine is present as a material to combine with the baked good. Side effects include but are not limited to... [rapid writing of fine print proceeds to occur] ━ With baking experience, a straightforward and easy to master power. The trickiest parts were getting started and incorporating other materials into the baked goods. ━ Spontaneously creating the baked goods is rather easy, whether or not the baked good is fused with another material. A full table can be set with a little bit of sweat. It's shooting them off that really consumes energy. The kinetic force used to propel the baked goods forwards takes the same energy as it would to throw the baked goods, and as speeds can reach above and beyond a bullet's, each shot can take significant chunks of stamina.
O2. talk about their personality here.
━ Plain Jane isn't all that different from your average Joe who's gone through one tragedy after another. Then again, who hasn't in this world? Like so many others, Jane lost everyone she loved and knew these past 12 months, everyone from people she knew since she could first remember and people she had known for only a few hours but had connected with. Still, the way she handles this grief is to greet every day with a smile and an appreciation for the little things. She is still alive. She is still able to enjoy the little moments. In this way, she gives herself the energy to look forwards to the future and do her best to prevent any future tragedies, and even though she knows she won't be able to succeed in every attempt, she won't stop trying just because of that. ━ If you need a smile, if you need a cookie, if you want a hug, or even if you'd like someone to pat you on the back and assure you that everything is okay, then Jane is a good person to go to. She's kind and warm like the freshly baked bread, and soft spoken like the mellow taste of a custard pudding. She won't pry, but to anyone who asks, she's there to help them. ━ Granted, sometimes she'll be there to help even if no one asks. Once her "poor child, must help" sensors go off, the only thing stopping this "Mama Jane," as her late friends have dubbed her, is a work deadline or her parents, and guess what, neither exist in this world any longer. ━ Jane is a realist who relies on pessimism to gauge risks but believes in optimism to achieve results. Every experiment relies on the willingness to take on risks at one point or another. That is an unspoken rule of scientists, and after seeing people die in front of her one after another, her inner determination is harder than her outer fluffiness. ━ And lastly... she's a sly actor. Her fluffy personality isn't a lie, but she's wholly willing to maximize it to achieve whatever goal she has. Suffice to say, a double Ph.D. researcher of a highly competitive institute simply does not conveniently forget important details on "accident."
O3. how did they end up in this mess in the first place?
━ An anomaly among the Tainted, Jane's rather unspectacular powers awakened at an unprecedented advanced age. The first time it happened was when, as a starving college student in her final year, too busy with her senior project for her bachelor's degree, she felt immensely hungry and really wished she still had one of those banana nut muffins she had baked last month while procrastinating on this very same project. In response to her desire, a muffin poofed into existence in her hand, and without even questioning it, Jane ate it with gusto. It was only after she'd washed it all down with a sip of her cold, half a day old coffee that she realized she had just demonstrated a Tainted's power. ━ Luckily, there were no witnesses, and Jane was old enough to know what really happened, behind all the pretty words and politically correct speech, to the Tainted when they were discovered. She hid her powers, and as they were, initially, of little interest, she had equally little motivation to reveal them on a large scale. What was she going to do with the power to create cookies at will? Open a bakery? She was an engineering major. She had better career options. Flying under the radar, she lived a normal life for her next 7 years, graduating undergraduate with a BS in chemistry and biochemistry, taking a year off to work for a reputable pharmaceutical company as a lab assistant, then returning to college to earn two PhD's, Doctor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry. ━ Jane took all the appropriate precautions as she studied and worked. Not a speck of her power was used, not even in private. Of course, she didn't speak about it all either, not even to her fiancee. She avoided government jobs, and instead got hired into one of the best companies in the private sector. Of course, these companies were frequently affiliated by the government, often contracted to assist with highly sensitive projects. There was a risk there, but it was a much smaller one. Screening processes were much more lax, and Jane had a clean record so there was no reason to go any deeper. It also helped that she distanced herself from all studies related to the Tainted. ━ She even took her preparations to the point that she picked up another hobby, so that if she ever was found out, she wasn't going to be easy to catch. No, she didn't learn something silly like how to fight. That wasn't exactly helpful against guns. She picked up running. She's a darn fast runner, too, creative as well. ━ So she lived, unlike so many others, a normal life until the chimeras were released. The resulting apocalypse forced her hand. Jane had never trained her powers, always neglecting them, so they were weak and uncontrolled. Still, perhaps because she baked so frequently as a hobby, she easily learned how to properly create baked goods to feed herself and her fiancee as they ran and hid for their dear lives. It wasn't a lot, but it was something. ━ Of course, too many times, something isn't enough. In the ensuing months, her fiancee was turned into a chimera while protecting her, and Jane had to survive on her own for a short while before happening upon another group of survivors. After a sudden attack in the night, Jane found herself alone again. This pattern would continue. She would find another ragtag group to travel with, only for one thing or another to leave her alone. It was only when she stumbled upon a member of Shambala and was taken back to their base that she finally belonged to a group that wouldn't be destroyed by a slight breeze, and that is when her roleplay begins... ━ While wandering from group to group, faced with one deadly situation or another, of course Jane's grasp over her abilities grew. She advanced quickly within the span of 12 months, her progress helped by what she knew about baking and everything she had learned about the Tainted's ability while studying for her degrees and work. She hypothesized that it might also be because she was older, and thus had a more developed brain than teenagers that assisted her in comprehending how her abilities worked.
