Time passed differently for Gods than other lions, when you lived forever there wasn’t much call to focus on what day it was. It had been years since Mrost had been in the rogue lands but to him it felt like only yesterday. There had been a war in heaven, and he’d watched it rage, pleased with what he saw, because well – he /was/ War after all. Mostly though he’d been kept busy with mortals because mortals were a truly wonderful gift that never got old. Well, they did get old in a literal sense, just not the metaphorical. It was the literal aging thing that pushed them to truly impressive heights of achievement, it was amazing what the impending fear of death could do for motivation.

He’d been preoccupied.

There had been two prides, one in control of the other. The first group was known as the Arcadians had inhabited a forest paradise in the lee of a mountain. They maintained it that way with a strict process of elimination, sick lions or those who did not contribute sufficiently to the creative endeavours of the pride were sent out, and unsanctioned reproduction was strictly controlled. The second pride was known as the Unspeakables and clung to life on the arid and desolate outskirts of the territory. To a lion they were riddled with parasites and disease and wrestled with starvation on a daily basis. Mrost had found the whole thing a truly beautiful situation, steeped in desperation and inequality as it was, and he hadn’t been able to resist getting involved.

He’d appeared to the leader of the Unspeakables one night and offered the ragged lion the kind of power they’d only ever been able to dream of in their wildest nights. All he asked for in exchange was the satisfaction of seeing them exact their revenge. The resulting war had raged for years, with generations of lions drawn into feuds and heinous acts of betrayal, all for the sake of a little slice of Eden. Their Eden didn’t survive the combat, and after the ravages of war and one final climactic fire that tore through the last of the struggling trees and up the face of the mountain there was nothing left. There was no victor in the end, only death and ruin, and as the last of the survivors left the once verdant lands, Mrost finally moved on.

Now he was free from his little project and it felt truly wonderful to be unburdened, the entire world laid out before him for the taking. There were hundreds of lions out there, and in their midst would be the makings of the next wonderful war.

Months had gone by since she'd been forcefully ejected from the haven, where she'd been hesitant to venture to the mortal realm, held back by her own cautious nature, and an ongoing determination to gather more information before acting. Slowly, she'd grown slightly less...fixated, and had interacted with a few of the beings who'd crossed her path. Recently, she'd started to range further from the space where she'd plummeted to earth. Familiarity and curiosity served to do what her many months in the haven asking any deity who she'd come across to tell her more about the mortal realm had not, driving her to observe this world (and the mortals who thrived within it) first-hand, to flesh out the knowledge that lay within her grasp...but without the memory of how it had been learned.

And so she found herself here, feeling quite enthusiastically spontaneous. Cresting a small, rocky rise, she froze as she caught sight of the god of war. She'd met other deities in her wanderings, but something about him had her wings fluttering with a slight sense of...unease. Since there was little chance she hadn't already been noticed, she moved closer, stopping when she was far enough away to greet him without having to raise her voice.

"Greetings." she said simply, inclining her head courteously, although she remained cautious...and watchful.

Mrost was surprised to see another god here in the mortal lands, though he shouldn't have been, given the recent events that had been going on above their heads. He didn't trust gods, as a rule, they weren't as easy to manipulate, nor as easy to communicate with, you never knew when you were dealing with a domain that was difficult, or even worse an opposite to your own. This lioness looked elegant as so many of them did, with vibrant markings. It didn't matter to him that she'd greeted him politely, he was immediately on edge. He'd been away from other gods too long, and he'd spent a lot of that time just stewing in his own bitter resentment and feelings of betrayal.

"Hi." he said, suspiciously, grumbling low in his throat. "What are you here for?" he couldn't keep the accusation out of his tone, as if she had no place at all being there while he had every right in the world to roam wherever he pleased.

Siasa blinked, the other god's tone rubbing her entirely the wrong way. And yet, she was a goddess of her realm, and thus disinclined to react without having as many facts at her disposal as possible...and so she inhaled, slowly, studying him with an almost-impassive expression on her maw. Perhaps he had a good reason for being surly?

"Merely passing through," she finally spoke, her own tone even. "I was not aware that this land was...spoken for." she continued, the faintest hint of rebuke coloring her words. Quirking a brow at him, she turned the question right back at him, looking vaguely expectant.

"And what brings you here?" As she asked it, she motioned vaguely at the rather unimpressive landscape they found themselves in.

"All lands are spoken for." Mrost said, with a smirk. As far as he was concerned in a very feline way the entire world was his, wherever he set foot becoming part of his ever fluctating territory.

"They are all mine." There was something about him that was always somehow just itching for a fight, and he tended to go after anything in others that might earn him that. In the past he'd been polite to people when he had something he could gain from them, right now he wanted for nothing but excitement and so poor Siasa was on the receiving end of it.

"I'm looking for fun." he said. "That's what I want most of all. Entertainment."

He grinned, showing her his teeth, moving unpleasantly close to her. "War." he said. "Mrost."

While she was typically slow to provoke, erring on the side of (perhaps excessive) planning and caution, that didn't mean it was impossible to do so.

At his first retort, she managed to restrain herself to raising an eyebrow, with an expression that could have been interpreted as curiousity, or possibly even a vague sort of indulgence for his obvious ego. However, at his second statement, she rolled her eyes. "Owning something takes a willingness to defend that claim - and from what I've heard and seen, these lands are more of an in-between, open to any passing through." she observed, countering his claim with a nonchalant tone that she rather thought was an admirably calm statement of fact.

His next statement had the goddess tilting her head, ever-so-slightly at him. ...Fun? His body language that accompanied the words made her wary, suspicious that his definition of the word did not match her own. If she was wrong, though...how frivolous of him. Not that she had the impression that all of her kind were serious, or pursuing some larger plan, but something in the way this male held himself didn't lend itself to the impression that he was flitting about, seeking out fun.

And then he stepped into her space, disconcertingly close. She barely stopped herself from stepping back to avoid him, a niggling feeling at the back of her mind leading her to believe that once she gave ground, she'd find it that much harder to regain it. No, much easier to stand firm to begin with...she hoped. Raising her head, she met his gaze squarely, narrowing her own eyes. "Siasa'busara...Wisdom." she replied, irritation ruffling her wings briefly, the most obvious sign of her growing...annoyance. She couldn't possibly be intimidated (although a realm like war wasn't one she particularly wanted to do battle with - at least, not directly, or in such...unfavorable conditions).

"War, you say? Somehow I would have expected more of an...entourage." she observed, unable to resist.
