It's cool and clear and full of fresh water fish! The only thing is...the sand squeaks when you walk on it. Is that normal?
Today was not only warm, a bit rare as of late as the weather kept bouncing up and down, but the beach was opening today. It was his want to see the final product, and enjoy seeing Aiden in his element, that he’d packed his truck with what they'd need for their outing.
Turning into the parking lot the blond wasn't shocked to find it packed of both cars and people. “I hope they kept track of how many have entered the lot and how many spaces there are.” since there was a booth to pay at and pass on the way into the lot. Sighing he started the search for parking.

“Since it is the first week, my guess is that they probably have shuttles bringing people from the community centers here. Either that or people are opting for Uber or Lyft rides.” Something to curb the need for parking spaces. Thankfully they arrived early enough to hopefully nab one of the remaining spaces.

“True, Uber and Lyft are popular and no doubt will be making good money today.” If he didn't have his own vehicle Alexandre was certain he'd use one of the popular transport methods to get around. There was just a certain ease he felt at the idea, at least when compared to a cab. But he didn't have to worry either way - he had his own car.

Reaching back behind Alexandre’s seat, he meant to grab the bag but both dogs in the back made it a difficult task. “Did you remember to grab the sunscreen?” It was a complete afterthought since Aiden rarely burned. His boyfriend, however, was the complete opposite with his fair skin.

“Of course, it was one of the first things I grabbed. I burn like a lobster.” While he was ok with his fair skin he did wish he didn't burn so easily - it hurt. “I brought two beach umbrellas also.” each one being rather large they were sure to be safe from burning, or he would anyway. “We just need to make sure the dogs don't drink much salt water. I saw online, about a month back, where a guys dog died from it - salt poisoning.” He felt bad for the owner, and couldn't imagine it happening to himself and Aiden.

“Good to know,” Looking over his shoulder at Riley he noted all the nose smears on Alex’s backseat window and almost cringed. Such is the life of having dogs, he’d have to clean that off later; not that he minded.
“I think there’s a spot in the next row over next to that truck.” Aiden pointed over to what looked like an empty area since he couldn’t see a shadow cast on the concrete; granted it could be one of those little Sparks or a mini car pulled too far forward. “Next time I should just bring you on my motorcycle.”

When he’d been younger, in his teens, Alexandre would have made a face over such a thing, he’d grown up since then. He ignored them mostly now, even the small dog hairs. He knew the window would be cleaned later, by someone, so he’d ignored the marks when he’d noticed them earlier.
Thanks, almost missed the spot.” As it was indeed a spot without an occupant. Pulling in was easy and there was room to get Riley and Cadha out and in. “Maybe an early evening trip on your bike? No need to worry about night swimming.” No sharks or boats was what he meant, as surely there were to be some concerns. “I don't get out with you, on your bike, nearly enough.”

“I’ll get the umbrellas. Can you handle the dogs and the bag?” Aiden opened the back of the vehicle and Rhiley, as young and excited as he was, jumped over the seat into the trunk space and leaped out of the car. “Riley, Sit!” His tone was firm and the almost two-year-old pup surprisingly obeyed. He sat his tail wagging butt on the concrete long enough to allow Alex to clip the leash on his collar before getting up and sniffing around excitedly.
“Could you also grab his bouey? Some lakes don’t allow dogs in the water but I think I saw that there was an area for animals to run around off leash.” A place specifically designated as a dog park with a wedge of water for them to jump in and play.

“Yeah, the dogs are easy.” Both were, thankfully, well trained and wouldn't give him an issue. It was a big thing he was happy with, their dogs didn't act up especially in. “See, excited and wanting to get moving but listens.” Unlike some peoples dogs, he was sure one such ill-behaved dog would be here today.
With both dogs clipped and sitting on the pavement of the parking lot, it wasn't hard getting what Aiden asked him to grab. We have one for Cadha also in here?” They did own one for the terrier just in case, he did like to follow the retriever after all. Already grabbing the bag and hunting for the bouey for Riley.

“Honestly I’m not sure, I just grabbed a few toys.” If not, they can just share the same ones. Like young children, they squabbled over toys and played tug-o-war. Riley won about 95% of the time since he is definitely a bigger dog. It was funny the first time he saw his dog drag the terrier around on the hardwood floor like he was nothing more than a fluffy mop. But with their nails, it became a joint effort to make sure they kept the roughhousing on the carpet least their nails gouge the floors.
“Lead the way.” Aiden reached up to close the back door and tapped the button on the handle to lock the car. “I’ll follow.”

“Well, we’ll know in a few moments.” Since he was going through the things they had brought...and no second bouey. “I think we left Cadha’s at home. They’ll just have to share. That’ll work.” At least he was fairly sure it would.
At least the two dogs got along really well in fact. “You sure you don’t want me to take an umbrella also? They are a bit heavy and oversized.” So they provided a lot of shade, which was needed in his opinion. Shouldering the bag they had he bent to grab both leashes and gave a gentle tug to get the two dogs moving.
“You can pick where we set up.” Alexandre offered as he smiled towards his partner.
Though he was leading them onto the sand he paused, he was sure he’d heard something. Taking another step, after not hearing anything, he heard it again...a squeaking sound. Pausing, even as the dogs seemed to hone in where he was standing, his eyes moved towards Aiden.
“Did you hear that….?” Please, just please, let this trip be normal. He really didn’t want magic, or something bad, ruining his day at the beach...aside from the sun. The sun should be the only thing he should worry about.

“I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s a manmade reservoir. They probably mixed some synthetic or eco-friendly material in with the sand.” With the city’s push for going green, it really wouldn’t surprise them. Hell LA dumped 96 million “shade balls” in their reservoirs who was to say that Destiny City wouldn’t do something just as strange.
“There’s an open spot over there.” With his arms full, Aiden could only nod his head in the direction a bit set back from the water's edge and away from the volleyball area; least the dogs get any goofy ideas.

“I don’t know….maybe. But the noise…” Shaking his head he smiled lightly. Hopefully it was all in his head, too many years fighting in a war. He’d seen too much and suspected everything.
The whole way to where they were going was followed by squeaks, it couldn’t be normal, but they did arrive and he went to set things up. “At least we have enough space for the dogs here.” As well as themselves, of course.
“I’m glad to see we aren’t around any loud kids or anything.” Anything else being people you could see would cause some sort of issue miles away, there were just certain people you could see the trouble before it came. He didn’t like those sorts of people...he didn’t like trouble...not as a civilian anyway - not really. “Need sunblock or are you planning to take some color?”

Aiden let out an undignified snort, “I think I’ve got enough color already.” He glanced down at his arms which were a nice tan thanks to his lifeguard job at public pool. Now that it was nice out they opened up the outdoor swim area with the waterslide as well as opened up the retractable roof over one of the others.
Next week the large bounce house floaty should be repaired just in time for school to let out and the flood of kids to be dropped off while their parents go to work.

“You do have color.” Which looked good on the other, it suited him, but he knew Aiden could get a touch darker, and might by the end of summer. “So sunblock then?” Alexandre questioned from where he’d sat himself on a blanket. His eyes bluer than usual, thanks to all the sunlight, stared up at the other.
“How’s work at the pool been going?” He tended to keep his distance from the place, he wasn’t much for children and the noise they generated. That was one thing he never had plans for - children. He’d never thought of marriage, or even being engaged, before but it was on the table at this point. Whether Aiden knew he’d long since changed his stance on both things...well he didn’t know. It wasn’t something he’d mentioned...but the change in opinion was there. Maybe one day he wouldn’t have to hide his secrets anymore, or they’d be a thing of the past, and he could talk to Aiden about changing their lives just a bit more.
For now though this was good, this was nice. He just hoped things could remain this way, though he knew there were some waves being made because of his secret keeping. HE was, for now, ignoring it and trying to enjoy things.
