Coast carefully placed the surfboard just so, making sure that the surf shop looked as pristine as possible. His parents were off for the day, having decided to take a stay-cay and just relax and catch up with everyone, including his siblings. Even now they were probably boiling seaweed or something on the beach and acting like they didn't have a home. It was weird with his parents sometime, but he felt as though they just did what they wanted to, without really caring what anyone else thought. At least they were aware enough to check in with his schedule and any other pony's that they may have been messing with. So, it was just him in charge of the shop today, which meant no surfing lessons for the day since he was the only pony, but he could at least close it for an hour or so for a lunch time surf or something if he wanted. The beach had been quiet for a while, but that had been expected with the Beach Party that was apparently going on. His parents had been unable to go, but did take advantage of little amount of customers that they were getting by surfing, relaxing, and closing down the shop when it was slow. Coast would do the same, but for now, he was opening it at the regular time, waiting for anypony to come and rent or whatever they may have needed for the shop. He certainly was glad that he had a job like this, he liked helping ponies and getting paid for it was just a bonus.

In spite of all that weirdness that had happened with the arrival of new ponies, Shadowed Flower decided to stay visiting the beach. She had no reason to go elsewhere, not now that everything had been properly settled, and so the mare found herself walking along a stretch that looked rather empty. Perhaps it would be way more bustling at any other time of the day but for now it was simply the earth mare leaving hoof prints in the sand. This was all well and good with Shadowed as, she had slowly come to find out over the course of the year, she didn't do too well with crowds. Not that she was shy, because she was, but also her temper seemed to flare when there were others more in command. Was it jealousy? Other things? Honestly she didn't know and so she kept on walking, every now and then kicking at the surf. It was nice, it was quiet, and then - she spotted another pony. Instantly the mare froze, wondering if she needed to leave or not. The young stallion looked so painfully familiar yet still so stranger and all Shadowed could do was wonder why. Who was he that he seemed kin to her?

Coast moved one more surfboard into place and he looked proudly at his work. Perfect I'd have to say. He thought to himself as he turned the "Closed" sign over to the other side so that it said "Open" and waited for customers to arrive. Though what he hadn't expected was the other pony who was standing there, and he jumped a bit. He hadn't even realized! He quickly went out from the shop and approached her since she was just close enough to be considered possibly interested in the shop and not just another pony using the beach. "Welcome! I'm Coast and this is my family's surf shop!" He said, though as he got closer he could have sworn that he had seen the pony before. "You interested in a bit of surfing? Or just a refreshment?" It was a bit too much talking for Coast's liking, but he did have to make some sales after all. "Are you new here? I feel like I've seen you before." He said, peering at her closely. Where had he seen this mare...?

So it wasn't just her feeling that way, as the stranger commanded, and Shadowed tried to pick over her brain to find out why. He felt familiar in addition to looking familiar though in all honesty she knew she'd never met him before. His voice gave no more clues, but then - it suddenly hit her like a bolt from the Cobalt blue. Literally. "....Are you....Serene's son?"He felt like her sister, he looked and sounded like Serene Seas as well. But had that mare really gone and gotten married, let alone had a foal? After the market incident Shadowed Flower had very quickly abandoned the family without so much as looking back. The choice at the time was built more on bittered emotions than anything else but with enough months between now and then the mare was much calmer. She still hadn't seen any of them and honestly? She didn't mind it. And now she was also in a very awkward situation of not wanting to say any more, just in case she was completely off the mark. This stallion may have made her feel like he could be related, but he was also a unicorn - which meant her other sister could be the mother. If...if she was right after all but now she was in a state of doubt. "Ah, no, pardon me. I suddenly started speaking without meaning to."

He smiled softly at the mare. "Yes I am. I assume you are Shadowed Flower?" He had heard his mother mention once that one of her sisters, after the event that had caused Serene to move away from her family, had gone travelling. He assumed this was the one. "Just a second." He said, trotting back over to the shop and grabbing two pictures hanging in the back using magic, before going back over to her, this time a bit closer so they weren't talking to each other from a large distance. First he showed her the picture of the Cobalt family that his mother was a part of. "You're in there right? That means you're one of my Aunts." He said, before showing her the second picture, which was a family photo of his parents, brother, sister, and himself. "This is my family. Serene is my mother and Sandbar is my father." He didn't want to push her too much. His mother had told him that his sister might not want to talk when meeting her. "If there's anything you want to ask, go ahead. If you want to see Serene, she's at the house." Which was a beach house. His parents, even without being aquatics or related to any, were obsessed with the water.

Shadowed wondered if she should have made her way away as soon as the stallion left, but she stayed put. Many months of relearning manners, learning to get past herself, had her waiting patiently. When he returned with a photograph she wished she'd gone. It was a slap in the face to see the image of all of them together - even counting that - and her brown hide standing out so painfully among the sea of blue. An angry and bitter frown pressed over her muzzle, but she moved it away when the next photo came. It...was far more lovely to see Serene Seas so happy with a family. The image of her with her husband and their children did much to warm away the bitterness that threatened to color this reunion. To see her younger sister looking so pleased when all that had been in the future for them was uncertainty made her eyes soften. "She managed to get away...." It was also reassuring to know she wasn't the only one who'd abandoned that sham of a family, though if this stallion knew about it that meant Serene either talked on them or returned. Those were two options Shadowed Flower would never consider. "Yes, my name is Shadowed Flower and no, I don't particularly want to see her. It's...nothing personal on Serene's part but rather I don't feel I'm ready to face that part of my life yet." The Earth mare lowered her head and gaze downward, not meeting the stallion's eyes. It was foolish to still harbor such hatred when the others had done nothing to fully merit it but at least now she understood that and was talking active steps. "But...it has been nice to see you. To know that one of us in that cursed family has managed to find happiness so far."

Coast wasn't sure what had happened to the family to make Shadowed sound so bitter, but at least she didn't seem like she had a great dislike of his mother, which was good enough for him. He nodded and set the two photos on the counter. "That's fine. The offer is always there if you want to though. I'm sure she would be happy to see you." Shadowed would probably be surprised at how much his mother had become a beach bum though. He was sure that they had seaweed for literally every meal at this point. Serene had told him not to push any of her siblings into unwanted meetings or conversations and Coast would follow his mother's words. He turned his head towards the shop and then back to her, a shop-keepers smile on his muzzle. "They won't be here for the rest of the day since it's their day off. If you come back here some time and want to learn how to surf, we're usually open every day of the week, weather permitting." It would be too dangerous to be open during a storm, and even rain made it hard to see. "If you're going though, do you want a drink or something? It will be on the house." He said, getting some of the drinks out of the cooler and showing them to her. "Choose any that you like." After this meeting, he didn't think he would tell his mother that Shadowed had come. It would bring too much disappointment and it seemed that Shadowed still wanted to stay hidden for now.

He really did remind her of Serene, the way he moved and chattered and the way he didn't press too hard. Despite everything she'd felt there had always been a true love for her siblings, to an extent, and it warmed her greatly to see that such a kind child had come from all of this. "You're a good pony. Very kind, gentle. You remind me a lot of your mother yet in your own way are still very much your own person." Shadowed assumed she would never meet the father and that was also very much okay. Perhaps one day they would seek her out if they wanted to, or she'd run into them in a manner much like. The world was small and large all at once, and she did travel. Sometimes fate wanted thing to happen for its own reasons. Shadowed Flower, for various reasons, was not a huge fan of fate. SSBrosB SEE now we need to have the sister meet, haha!

Coast smiled at her. "Thank you. She's taught me a lot." Though he could say that his parents were very much the same, so it came a bit naturally. Still, he was happy that his wandering Aunt had complimented his mother. He wanted to warn her that if the two sisters did meet, then Serene would most likely invite Shadowed over for some seaweed, but thought against it. Perhaps it would never happen, and he didn't want to make his mother sound weird since he wanted the two to meet again. He set the drinks down. #63cfec"I've only heard nice things about you Shadowed. Our mother isn't holding anything against you and cares about you a lot. I'm sure she would be happy just to know that you're okay." He wouldn't push too much, but at least wanted Shadowed to know that the invitation was open, even if his mother didn't know about it. houllow She'll be invited to a seaweed buffet! XD We can end this in a couple more posts if you want or keep on going! Add Serene in even!

"I'd...rather not see her, if that's alright. I'm not in a very good place right now and I'm still coming to terms with a few things. It wouldn't be right of me to have her see me like this." Shadowed was far from ready when it came to meeting her family again. Her older brother, lead along by and then in a romance with a changeling. Somepony she loved like a sister turning out to be a changeling simply using them all for her own personal gain. Some wounds were still raw even as they scabbed over, and meeting Serene Seas might reverse all the hard work she'd been putting in. Shadowed also knew how rude and shallow it made her seem to refuse such an offer of kindness. It was a harmless wish to reunite a family but how could it happen? They'd only been held together (at least to her) by a shared grief and then....that all had happened and the honesty of Shadowed hating her family had come to light. She loved them dearly, truly, but hadn't belonged. Perhaps Piper being shown for what she really was happened to be the out that Shadowed Flower had always wanted and needed. That didn't make her feel any worse for occasionally placing all the blame on that. There was more to this story and one day the mare would share it. But then, she'd been standing in silence for too long. "Is the offer for a drink still good? I wouldn't mind a tea, if that is something you have." She wasn't one for soda, sadly. SSBrosB ending this one and starting a new one would be good! i don't want you to overwhelm yourself with how many characters you'll be playing at once!

Coast just nodded and went back to the cooler and removed a few of the tea drinks that they had, and replacing the others. When he got back he offered them to her. "Well, that's all right. Just come here when you feel like it then." He said. "And choose any that you want. Even all of them." He replied with a chuckle, before moving his head to the right to see if he had heard something. And from what he could tell, there were customers coming, which meant he didn't have as much time to talk anymore. He turned back to her and gave her an apologetic look. "Unfortunately it looks like I won't be able to to talk for a bit since I seem to have customers coming. You're free to hang out if you want, though I won't feel bad if you go either. It was good to see you!" He said the last part as he was trotting off, going back behind the counter of the shack and starting to serve some of the customers. Even if he didn't ever see her again, it was nice to see one of his relatives, even if it was just for a little bit. houllow All right, last post from me! Thank you for the rp and we can rp some more!

It certainly seemed like he was busy enough and Shadowed understood as he took his leave. More ponies were coming which meant she didn't exactly want to be there either, and so the mare took the bottle of tea she'd been offered and slowly went back on her way. Perhaps in the future she might find the calm needed to see Serene Seas and her entire family, but for now Shadowed Flower settled for meeting a nephew. SSBrosB and that's it from me too! this was fun, thanky ou!!
