Quote: Entire parts of town are trussed up in banners and stars to commemorate the holiday. You can find them dangling from lampposts, walls, trees--paper stars are everywhere. While this has become common in the past few days, what’s uncommon is how some of them seem to glow at night. While passing through town, more stars seem to light up, guiding you down some strange path. There is an unnatural pull to them, a lull deep in your chest that something just meant for you is waiting at the end. When the path of stars end, what do you find? Someone? Something you lost? The answer to some question you’ve been asking yourself for some time? The stars eventually lose their glow and do not light back up again; any examination yields that they seem to be normal paper. The evening was shaping up to be a quiet one, although Reinerite wasn't complaining–
Because whilst she had every confidence in her ability to deal with any Order pest that might be out and about, it was nice sometimes to not have to deal with the hassle of an unwanted interruption.
It was actually her third foray out for the day, well really evening really as she had actually been out earlier, as Ashley and as Reinerite both. The former had been earlier in the day and had consisted of wandering the shops in order to sample some of the festival-special cakes that had been created specifically for the festival. One of the vendors had even given her a sapphire blue star charm alongside her order of a couple of cute 'wishing star' cupcakes that were that particular shop's festival special, whereas the latter had been later, evening - but not quite as late into the evening as it was now, in order to work on her quota–
Because even though she was a Captain rather than a Lieutenant, she still had a quota that she was expected to fill.
And now she was back out again, out for the aforementioned third time, the soles of her shoes quiet on the sidewalk as she walked the currently empty streets.
She found her thoughts drifting towards the message on the answerphone that had been waiting for, her lips unconsciously tilting down in an absent frown as she mentally replayed it for the third or fourth time that day.
It seemed that her sister, Harri, was planning a visit to the States as part of the gap year that she had decided to take before going on to higher education and wanted to come visit her in Destiny City.
Her sister had sounded excited during the call - had wanted to arrange a time so that they could discuss details. By contrast however Ashley - and therefore by extension Reinerite - wasn't nearly as keen.
Her family had no idea of her extracurricular activities as Reinerite or much of anything of what she was up to in the States, apart from her studies as Ashley and her decision to stay in the States permanently - and she had worked very hard to keep it that way, although having her family over in the UK had made it that much easier to hide things as the long distance worked in her favour.
She also liked to think that she had settled into her life over in the States, both as Ashley and as Reinerite.
Grey eyes looked up absently at banners interwoven with stars that seemed festoon pretty much everything, some of stars seemingly to almost glow in the evening light.
It took a few steps further down the sidewalk before she realised that the stars weren't almost glowing - but rather they really were glowing–
And now that she had noticed the glow it was almost as if she couldn't unsee it, her thoughts drifting away from her sister and the unwanted visit as unconsciously her footsteps started to follow the lighted stars.xxxSleet Tempest Snape Hope this works as a very belated start Sleet, lmk if I need to change anything

Since moving in with Rhona it was more common for him to power up, she sort of pushed him into doing things as a dark mirror senshi. It wasn't that he hadn't wanted to, he had done things on his own, it was just that he was lazy about it. He hadn't had a reason and he'd been more concerned with his civilian life, it was more important, but Rhona had changed things in big ways. So he came out more often at night, powered up, in order to gather some energy or just roam the city.
Tonight was one of those nights where he was out wandering, he didn't need to collect energy, a bit of a blank look on his face as he stared at a load of banners decorating the street he was on. It wasn't a main street but rather a narrow side street with the banners hanging from each light post.
Watching as the banners started to light up, how strange, his teal eyes trailed down the path of light they formed. How were they lighting up? That was strange, he didn't see any light bulbs in the banners or battery packs or anything to provide energy. Odd...magic then?

More and more of the stars seemed to light up as Reinerite continued to follow the trail, leading her further into the alleyways and whilst a part of her mind found it curious the way that the stars appeared to light up without visible batteries or sensor, it wasn't enough to stop her from following the lighted trail.
Not even the sudden flicker of aura was enough to sway her footsteps, although they faltered and slowed somewhat as her lips tilted down in a sudden frown.
It wasn't an Order aura, of that Reinerite was pretty certain given the lack of the overly sickly-sweetness that she had come to associate with the Order pests, nor was it a Negaverse aura–
But the aura was chaotic in nature, chaotic but other - and not the strongest, maybe around basic level.
Her footsteps faltered further for a brief moment, before Reinerite continued walking, the aura one that she had only come across on a bare handful of occasions.
It felt close though, close enough for her call out "I know that you're out there" although there was no malice in her voice as she spoke the words.

He'd felt something also, as he was walking. It was darker than others like himself...darker and more powerful. Someone in the Negaverse - clearly. Not only a Negaverse agent but one stronger than himself but not a General, that he was sure of. As he walked he gave pause, checking out the odd banners, but he stopped fully when he heard a voice calling out into the darkness.
"I'm not hiding." And he wasn't, not when he stepped out from behind a pole with a banner hanging from it.
"They don't have a power source for the light." Which would, he figured, explain why he was behind the pole. He was investigating, and would tell Rhona once he got home for the night. These weren't normal and maybe she'd want them watched or something, she wouldn't like knowing about something else odd going on in their city. She was more cautious about these sorts of things, and with good reason it seemed.

Reinerite's lips quirked up in a small private smile at the sound of the other's voice. If truth be told she had no idea if the senshi with the chaotic but not negaverse chaotic aura had been hiding or not, but calling out had proved to be a useful little tactic in the past–
Even if she hadn't particularly been actively trying to use it as a tactic - the not-quite smile faded - well at least she hadn't particularly actively been trying to use it as a tactic tonight.
Either way it seemed that it had worked as the source of the voice stepped out from behind one of the poles and into her line of sight–
And as she took in the red, gold and black she realised that she recognised this particular senshi.
"Melpomene."
And whilst a part of her couldn't help but be in two minds about the senshi, her voice wasn't unfriendly. She mentally squashed it down, it more down to the fact that the other happened to be the only one outside of the Negaverse to know that Ashley and Reinerite were one and the same due to an unfortunate incident with a clown last year.
But he wasn't Order and, most importantly, hadn't said anything about it - at least she was kind of assuming that he hadn't and would keep on doing so - unless and until something happened to make her think otherwise.
"Yes, I noticed that" she admitted at his mention of the way that none of the stars seemed to have power sources for the light. "They don't appear to be battery operated either."

"No, I didn't see any sort of power source. They aren't normal, I'm sure of that." Getting right to the point, rather than greeting her first. He did however move closer to her, walking casually as he didn't feel worried about this particular individual. He figured he was safe around her, he had no reason to think otherwise.
"It's been a while, Reinerite. It seems the city hasn't changed though." Still oddly magical around the holiday season.
"I'll be telling one of ours about it, so she can let others know, since this is abnormal and most likely magical. I wonder what else will happen this year." He was still knew but he knew enough to know this time of year simply wasn't safe, for anyone. "I wonder what the reason for these stars lighting up is though." Nothing happened for no reason, right?
