Kanja spent most of his time outside around the lake, but there were time he'd venture towards the strange ship and investigate. There seemed to be more people around there, and he liked people. Today was one such foray into the ship called Utopia. The native child was wide-eyed as he wandered the ship, knowing that some parts of the vessel no longer existed. He'd been told the ship 'crashed' and that lots of pieces broke off or collapsed, so he often found himself in dead ends, or places that would lead back outside. He was exploring a new part of the ship today. He had never been here before. The room he found today was quite large, though it still held the same mechanical hum that the rest of the ship did, and the artificial lights were still the same strange brightness, but the room itself? It seemed different. For one, there were shelves and shelves of books and screens full of information. He pondered for a moment staying here for a while to read, but he was also afraid of drying out. Today, he decided he would simply look.

It had been a while since he'd come across another person. The elders all seemed very busy, and there weren't many his own age. It was a little lonely. But then, at the far end of one of the rows of books, There was a figure. Kanja didn't know him, and slowly crept along the floor. The man was reading a book. Keeping to the far side of the table, the young native slowly peeked up over the table, trying to see what the book was called, but the title was in shadow and he couldn't make out the words. "... Hey." His voice was very, very soft. "What is your book called?" All that was above the table were his nose and bright orange eyes, and his frilled ears were hidden behind the dark dreads. He didn't want to disturb the man, but he was curious.

The library was one of his favorite places to be when inside the ship. In the same vein, it was one of the places the genome felt at peace. There was comfort in confidence and Slven had confidence here. Having read a good deal of the books in the place at this point in life or at least the interesting ones.

Aside from the comfort of the large area most didn't frequent, he really did love the books. Books were far better than anything else, they provided knowledge and didn't get upset at him. On a turn of the page, his eyes slid over the written text in delight with a rare genuine smile. Engineering was the topic and had been from the day his father had mentioned it in the infirmary. Having started at beginner titles, what few the library offered, he was now nearing the last of them.

The footsteps of the child were the first thing to be heard, then the soft curious voice filled Slven's silence. Slowly the book in hands slipped low enough for amber eyes to settle on the native. The child was certainly curious looking, with such bright orange eyes, in fact it took the raven a moment to recover from his stare on the boy to speak.

On a slip of a handmade leaf bookmark, he sat the book down. Voice low in pitch and sounding tired, "Engineering and the Mind's Eye...do you read much ?" A brow lifted in his own curiosity.

"Hmmm... not yet." He replied, slowly rising a little more over the table to look at the book title, now that it was no longer in dark shadows. "I read a few, but I never knew there were so many." He then looked up at the strange genome and gave him a smile. "I like that they hold so much information in such a small place." He sounded proud of that little bit of information.

Having not been told to leave, Kanja slowly raised himself into the chair opposite the dark haired genome. "Engineering." He was looking back at the book again, his head tilting practically upside-down to try and read the title again, but gave up. "I understand the engineering aspect of the book... but what is the mind's eye? Does that help you make things? Do genomes have an extra eyeball in their head?" It was clear that while he was very interested, he was still young and a little misinformed on things.
