Welcome to Purrr-etty Pleasing, a photography contest (of sorts)! This isn't your average photography contest. While we do want photos, there are a couple caveats:
First, we're hoping to see pictures of your (or your friends') pets! Actual photography skill is not strictly necessary - it's the effort and the thought that count.
Second, the photo that you take should have your username in it - and yes, that means your furry (scaly? feathery?) friend will have to hold still. Apologies in advance for the inconvenience!
Third, write us a blurb about why you love them. Maximum word count is 250 words, so be succinct! Is this pet the best cuddler? A great hiking buddy? An extremely photogenic, goofy sunbather?
If you do not currently have access to a pet, fear not! There is a form for that. Fill it out from the post below.
The two top picks will win their listed preferences. The remaining prizes will be raffled off!

As this opens in a couple days, here are some quick guidelines!
Your picture should have been taken during the event timeframe. It's okay if it was taken before this particular contest opens, but your photo should not be from before the Nature's Splendor Event opened. If the photo you take has your pet's ID tag in it and the information is visible, please blur it out or stick an obvious edit over it (like an emoji or a white square). We don't want to break the ToS! If you have multiple pets who live together/play together/sleep together and it's hard to get a picture without at least one of them photobombing the other, that's okay! Identify who is who in the "Pet's Name" field, then choose ONE of them to write about. I'm not asking you to try to pick your favorite (that would be tough!), just to choose one. Flip a coin if you need to! If you have any questions, read the rules, then these guidelines, then PM me!

ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Fatal Irony Preference List: 4, 2, 1, 3 ----- Pet's Name: Milo Blackwhisker (he has one black whisker lol) Pet Blurb: Milo is honestly my savior. He makes me laugh with his antics every day. Each morning when we wake up he attacks me with love and snuggles and kisses, but ONLY after he hears the click of my phone turning off, meaning I’m done browsing the web. He’s such a smart boy and he is with me all the time, even when I’m trying to do my physical therapy stretches. He “helps” by jumping on top of me and dropping a toy on my face while I’m back-bending over an exercise ball. He’ll lie there while I stretch, adjusting as I move around for different stretches. He loves to sit in my lap and watch me play the Sims and he absolutely DESTROYS his toys. I have to buy him toys built for rottweilers to have a hope of them lasting more than ten minutes with him. His favorite is an octopus that is as big as he is! It’s hilarious to watch him drag it around with him. When I’m sick he stays in bed with me. When I’m sad he throws his toys at me. He throws his toys at me when he’s happy too. He loves to throw his toys. This often results in him losing them behind or on top of furniture, but I don’t mind retrieving them for him. ALL THE CUDDLES Username: stormflower Preference List: 1, 2, 4, re-roll ----- Name: Khaleesi "Leesi" for short (our boy dog is Khal Drogo so to throw it out there lol) She is an Australian Shepard/Lab MIX Pet Blurb: Lessi Is very special. When looking for a second dog she was the only one our boy showed any kind of connection to and the bond has only grown between them since. She is very sweet and loving and will lick you to death if you let her. She is happy just to have you touch her! She has been the best companion pup for our kids, treating our boys as her own pups! She truly loves them and you can tell, whenever she hears them get up from napping she pops up and runs to their room to greet them with a wagging tail and lots of kisses. She can be timid though if big brother isnt around and other dogs are involved, she just doesn't know how to act without Drogo around. She has her quirks though, as a pup she had a bad habit of licking the walls and then eating them... literally. She'd lick them so much it'd make it so soft and she'd eat the plaster.... luckily she outgrew it after about a year and a half. She also likes to try and herd Drogo like a sheep when he plays ball but he ignores her! She also chases any reflecting light like a cat, which is hilarious and a laser pointer is even more so!! We have amazing fur-babies that we wouldn't trade for anything, but Lessi is definitely the sweetest and the way she is with our boys is truly special! ( word count: 248 ) Photo Entry:

ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Rinial Sisterdragon Preference List: 1, 4, 2, 3 ----- Pet's Name: BW Pet Blurb: SO, BW is actually a beautiful little stray that I've been working to earn the trust of. When I started putting out some food and water for any local strays, he was extremely skittish, and terrified of humans for quite awhile. Most people will simply ignore a stray that is nearly feral because the time one has to dedicate to getting an animal used to human interaction and kindness is more than most can give. However, it's been about 8 months, and now he enjoys pets, allows me to pick him up and hold him for a short time, and is thoroughly into chilling with me on the balcony while he eats. The transformation has been wonderful. He's so sweet, and is so much more healthy than he was when I met him. Every morning I hear his meow to greet me before heading to work is a good one. Pet's Name: Atlas Pet Blurb: In his two short years of life, this lovely little beagle boyo has gone through much sadness and hardship that was never meant for him to bare. But bare with it he has.
A few highlights include, moving times 5 or 6, being attacked and almost killed by his 'brother', being sent back to his breeder for a few months, breeder getting divorced and having to move out, being sent to a foster mom and her daughters who had their home sold out from under them and having to move into an almost to small trailer, to coming back home to us.
And through it all, he has maintained the sweetest temper you will ever find. As well as the biggest heart. He still loves us, his breeder and foster mom and her kids. He remembers all, and loves all.

ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Chisato Mikami Preference List: 4, 2, 1, reroll ----- Pet's Name: Caesar Pet Blurb: I never liked small dogs before I brought Caesar home. I've had Caesar since he was a tiny puppy just over three years ago. Sine bringing him home, he has helped bring me out of my depression that had lasted nearly 2 years. He helped me deal with many things including another dog passing way and a break up. He's always at the door, wagging his little tail when I come home and sleeps with me at night. ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Cowboy Peep Preference List: 2, 4, 1, re-roll ----- Pet's Name: Cheza (aka ChezaBelle Marie aka Cheese aka Cat) Pet Blurb: It's like deciding which child is your favorite but because she lives with me, I chose my cat. She is my very first cat and honestly, I can say I got lucky with her. I moved out with a bunch of my friends and I found myself in a dark place. Recovering from a night of sheer despair, I decided to look through the available cats in my area and came across a different cat; honestly, I just wanted something to feed and cuddle. I went to go see it but it was adopted already and I was about to walk away. I believe that animals are in tune with our emotions and that they truly do pick us. I was about to leave until my friend convinced me to hang out with Cheza. It only took a second before I fell in love with her. The thing I love about this cat is that she acts more like a dog. She is always at the door to greet me when I come home for work. She is always purring and has something to say. She is right at my hip whenever I feel myself slipping into a dark place. The other thing I'm super grateful for is how tolerate this cat it. You can literally do anything to her and she doesn't care. Sure, she screams like you’re killing her but she comes right back rubbing on you and purring like nothing ever happened. Photo Entry:

ALL THE CUDDLES Username: NovaCracker Preference List: 1, 2, 4, 3 ----- Pet's Name: Sven! His full name is Sven Tiger -- Tiger is hjis middle name and only used when he's naughty, but he's named for one of my parents' deceased cats from before my birth. Complicated story. Pet Blurb: Well, two reasons. When we looked at animals at the ASPCA, I looked at another cat and my spouse looked at him. Well, the other cat ignored me so I turned to see who my spouse was looking at. I spoke, and he suddenly ran between us and snuggled me for love. We brought him home that day. Reason two is how attentive he is -- Sven is a 'half-trained therapy cat' -- if I begin having an anger or depressive episode, or anxiety attack, Sven will come from nowhere and cuddle. ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Redbud-Tree Preference List: 2, 1, 4, 3 ----- Pet's Name: Kimi Pet Blurb: Kimi is a purebred Pekingese I got in the fall of 2008, just a few weeks after my grandfather died. She's been through a lot with me over the years, including shuffling through universities, a temporary separation as I attempted (and then could not handle the stress of) law school, and my father's worsening health and eventual death. She's been extremely patient and loving with me through every single thing, giving me someone small (and round, when she curls up like in the photo!) to cuddle on all the worst days, and an endless amount of smiles and excitement whenever someone comes to the house that she can meet and interact with --- even if she gets offended whenever I someone blows a raspberry at her. (Which I did, in order to get her to look at the camera for her photo!.) However, if you dare to cuddle the cats in front of her, expect to be shunned for the rest of the day, because how could you everyone is supposed to cuddle her and only her! Kimi's rules! ALL THE CUDDLES Username: Tygress Dream Preference List: 4, 2, 1, 3 ----- Pet's Name: Simon "Little Porg" Pet Blurb: Simon joined the family in September of 2017 and for a little over a year was simply "Little Porg," but was so much a part of the family he needed a real name and Simon he became. From the first pictures taken when my husband brought him home-- a smiling picture upon entering and the frown when he was safely belted in -- I was in love. In an apartment where we are not allowed pets, Simon is a cuddly soft companion I can hug and pet when I'm feeling down. He puts up with his wardrobe of assorted bowties (hairbows) and even does some cosplay. Simon fits perfectly in my porg mini backpack and joins us on trips and enjoys movies especially Star Wars (of course), Pokemon, and Marvel. He also helps me get out of my shell and go to events I may not and interact in ways I wouldn't without a photogentic porg in a bowtie as a go between. We've given out pokemon codes before pokemon movies, met Ghostbusters. At Star Wars Celebration we handed out swag, cosplayed, and met a variety of characters including being attacked by a Sith, and stalked by Kylo Ren, and made friends with a bantha. In a place in my life where I can't have a living breathing furry friend to welcome me home, I love having a Little Porg in my life to keep the smiles coming. Photo Entry:
