Quote:
There are many parties and celebrations going across town; for whatever reason, you are in a part of town where live music is playing and everyone is dancing all around. You lock eyes with someone in the crowd and, in all the movement, the crowd winds up pushing you together. Whether intentional or accidental, you get one dance together before you are separated. Was this person someone you know or a complete stranger and, did you want the dance or did you try to escape it? --Will you ever find each other again afterwards?

Not really her main scene if she dared say so herself, but she had received a crimson star charm for her troubles! It had been accidental to wander in this particular direction, she'd simply meandered from stall to stall and performance to performance until she'd found herself in a world of music and dance.

A smile lined her lips as she clipped the charm to her bag and turned her gaze towards the crowd. Now if there was one thing she could get behind it was people watching; a bit of a sport on some occasions. It gave her an excuse to be nosy while also painting extravagant and entirely inaccurate tales of their personal lives.

...Yep, even the most mundane of people could end up as heroes in a far-flung story, one that she would definitely have shoe horned her way into unceremoniously if there was even the remotest chance those stories turned out to be true. She wasn't quite a matchmaker, but she could almost be tempted by the opportunity to be one!

Ah, but for now the red head rested her elbows on the railings and simply took a breath. In a world filled with colour her typical vintage attire seemed to fit in quite well, she'd made the right choice to wear the large polka-dotted dress today.

There was one thing that Erich had tried to do during the festival, and that was to stay away from it as much as possible. The lights and sound coming from it really weren't his thing, and he kept wishing that he had rented that cabin that had been offered to him for the summer still. But alas, he was still taking summer classes for his major, which meant that he was stuck in the city, and stuck here, and stuck in this crowd and...

Well, he just didn't like it. He was in some shorts with a t-shirt and another one of his bandanas and didn't quite look like he was supposed to be there, mostly because he wasn't. And somehow, everywhere he went, the festival seemed to follow him, as though it was just begging for him to join and he was they "party pooper" because he didn't want to engage in such a silly thing.

And now he had come across another obstacle. There was a crowd of people in the middle of the main walkway, which meant that he would either have to go through them or around them. Around them would have been preferable, but he noticed that anyone else who had tried to do so had so far been sucked in, as though the group was a swirling vortex or black hole, pulling anyone within it's reach and not letting go of them.

He sighed and rubbed his hand against his cheek. "Seriously? They shouldn't be allowed to block the street like this..." He mumbled to himself, as he kept trying to look for an opening that would allow him to slip past.

What had started as an easy, out of the way place, had soon been swarmed with people and much like Erich, the red head found herself all but surrounded and pressed against the handrail she had been leaning on. It wasn't entirely uncomfortable, but it did mean she was in a rather awkward state of affairs if she needed to leave... Cutting through a crowd this size would take considerable talent.

Alas, misery invited company and it seemed that she'd found another in the same predicament as her... However on this occasion she'd found herself eyeing up a guy who definitely didn't seem to be suited to the festivities. He stuck out a bit, bare legs exposed and bandana swept into his hair; all things considered he didn't look the sort to dance to this kind of music.

...Speaking of, was that the lindyhop?

"They're not blocking all of it," she offered with a wry smile, squeezing herself out of her spot. It took a moment to suck in enough of her breath to scoot through but she did gradually manage to cover some of the distance. No sooner was she out than she released a loud 'baw' of a breath and breathed normally again.

"You just have to be creative about...getting around them," she paused. "Through them, over them, etc."

Erich watched the dancers for a while, trying to find his way around the crowd. And he couldn't help but be disgusted by the music too. Really, this crowd should have had better taste!

Still, he would barge his way through if he had to. He was big enough, and he figured that he could plow through most of the crowd. He would have powered up into his Lieutenant form, but he wasn't that type of person. Just because he was annoyed at a crowd didn't mean he had to make a scene by draining people just to get through it!

When there was finally an opening, he took it, and started to thread his way through the crowd. While doing that however, he accidentally locked eyes with a woman in the crowd. Whatever, he didn't care. He just wanted to get out of here!

As soon as he tried to go another way though, the crowd suddenly pushed him in the opposite direction, forcing him more toward the middle!

He really didn't want to be here, did he?

The sense of discomfort practically radiated from him, and she watched as he attempted to escape this way and that. What little progress he did make was soon reversed though as the crowds closed in. If she didn't know any better she would have assumed that they were conspiring against him, but she did know a way to get him through it if he would play along.

She'd always preferred the more direct approach and as a result she was soon on her way towards him. Choosing to ignore the concept of personal space in this instance, she reached out to grab his arm and smiled.

"Hey, you wanna get through the crowd right?" she asked with her usual warm smile. "I think I can help if you're up for it," she offered.

It was worth a shot; she'd noticed an opening but to get to it he was going to have to play along. She'd not keep him long, she just needed the stranger to trust her long enough for her to show him the way!

Erich was about to yell at whoever had decided to grab his arm, somehow resisting the urge to just yank it and calmed down when he realized it was the woman from before. In this crowd if he had yanked his arm, he could have smashed an eyeball or something! Internally he was very grateful that he had managed not to do that.

He took a look at the crowd, and seeing no way out, decided to trust the woman. She didn't seem like she had been dancing before either, so they both wanted to get out of here, right? "All right. I don't have any ideas at least. Though I can't say if I'll be able to do everything correctly." Was he a master of rock-climbing? Practically! But if one were to talk about making his way pasts crowds smoothly, well, a bull would have a better chance of doing so than he.

"Cool," she continued to smile as she pointed towards the opening that she had been aiming for. It was still across the dance floor from them but it was within touching distance provided they managed to get through the crowd of dancers. She had absolutely no intention of doing the lindy-hop (she didn't even know how to do it), but she would at least be able to fake it until they made it.

"Then we have to jump this barrier," she tapped the railing and grinned. "And then we just have to pretend to dance while we scurry across the dance floor," she explained. It was an easy enough task and even as she was talking she had begun to clamber over the railing, unceremoniously and without much dignity.

...Then again, the fact that she began to dance in a similar fashion to a grandparent at a wedding soon after, would have implied that she had no real need for dignity, she was confident in her own eccentric antics!

"Come on, let's get out of here eh?"

Well, she had a plan, and he agreed with it. Otherwise he would have to wait around for these people to leave, and considering that half of them were sloshed... it probably wouldn't be any time soon. He nodded to her when he saw the opening.

He followed after her over the railing, luckily it was easy enough for him considering how much climbing he had done in his life and how tall he was. "All right, after you then." He said, giving her a grin, though completely and utterly dreading what was to come afterwards. He hoped that they wouldn't be stuck in this or dragged into the dance circle. He just wanted to do the stupid little dancing and get the heck out of there!

She knew how these things went; in fact she knew exactly how to get through without being bothered. It would however, require that she took certain liberties, and it was for this reason that she had grabbed Erich's hands and began to awkwardly dance her way through the crowd. Quite frankly it was more of a wiggle and some flourishes than anything, but her actions were deliberate as she made efforts to keep the moving towards the exit.

Surprisingly it did seem to be working, a breach in public etiquette aside in the form of completely ignoring his personal space. The crowds were parting slightly, and they were making progress, within the next few minutes he probably could have made a run for it.

In fact, the next opening would probably be close enough for him to make a run for it when it appeared!

Erich was... not quite as successful as she was. Bumping into others and hitting their feet. Though most of the time it was on purpose. He didn't want anyone to be near them and he was still annoyed at the fact that they had decided to dance in the middle of one of the major roadways of the city. Everyone in this dumb chance deserved to have their feet kicked.

However, he followed and eventually there was an opening on the other side and he made it through to the end, looking back at the chaos that he had created, and it seemed a fight was about to start as he had kicked enough of them. He wasn't one to start problems, but they were the ones who had decided to do the blocking. This was why he disliked people so much.

He looked at the woman who helped him through and nodded. "Thanks for the assist. I think we're both in the clear now." He said, looking a bit awkward. He had never been good at talking to others. "Uh, I'm Erich." He held his hand out, figuring that now would be an okay tie to greet each other, even if they were going to depart within a minute or so. "I might see you around sometime, though I think I'll be avoiding the city for a bit, until this has all calmed down at least."

They were free!

She wasn't quite as irked as he was by the crowds but she suspected she might have gotten irritated if she'd been trapped by it all evening. She'd count her blessings on this one and as he held out his hand and introduced himself, she took it and gave it a firm shake.

"I'm Lily," she offered and glanced back at what might have been something that volunteers would have to intervene in fairly soon. Were they really that drunk that an accidental (or intentional in Erich's case) bump would cause them to react so poorly? He probably had the right idea on this one, she'd take to avoiding this road for the rest of the evening and probably tomorrow as well just to be on the safe side.

"Not a bad idea if I'm honest," she added and motioned towards the crowd before adjusting her bag and taking a step back. "Buuuuut given that we may have started one or two of those disagreements it's probably a good idea to high tail it, eh?" she smiled wryly and offered up a wave. Taking several more step backwards she spun on her heel and made her way towards the streets that she knew would take her home.

"See you around Erich; try not to get caught up in another whirlwind of dancers!" she teased over her shoulder, disappearing round a corner as she headed home.

You're fine! I don't mind waiting on these things. *Grin* I think this is probably fin though with a closing post from you eh? x3

"Lily." A bit cliche but not a bad name. "Nice to meet you then Lily." He couldn't help but smirk at her a bit when she told him that he had caught on to what he had done. Was he really that bad at hiding it? Perhaps he needed to practice his skills a bit more. "Sounds like a good idea." He said with a chuckle. He watched her as she went, and then started to go in a different direction, but away from the dancers at least.

He was happy to have had the help, though that woman was a bit quirky in how she had done it. How some people had so much self-confidence was beyond him, but it was interesting to see at least.

But for now he would be going to stay far, far away from all of the festivities.
