Quote: True to its name, this time of year is unnaturally clear and it’s incredibly easy to see the stars. They sparkle with more colors and vibrancy than usual. Sometimes you can see odd lights, but everything is so far away it's hard to tell what's real and what's an illusion, but it's a magical and overwhelming sensation all the same. Every year there is a meteor shower at this time, and this year is no different; the sky is full of shooting stars, so now's the perfect opportunity to find a dark place to watch the stars and make a wish! Whatever wish you make, you wind up having the most surreal dream of it being granted. What did you wish for--and what direction did your dream take? What happens when you wake up to reality? Derrick shifted against the tree that he was leaning on, waiting for Key to make it. He had traveled here as soon as he had gotten off of work and was just waiting for Key. He pretty much claimed this tree spot and had glared at anyone that had gotten within ten feet of him, so they had a bit of room to maneuver around when the meteor shower finally started. It was the first time going to the Star Festival. He hadn't gone before, he had no reason to. But now that he was with Key, he felt as though he should try a few more things out, even if that meant having to be around... other people a lot more. So when he had read about the meteor shower, he had asked her if she wanted to go, and when she said yes, they both made sure that their schedules would allow it. Luckily they did, though he hoped that they wouldn't miss it since they would be getting there a bit late. Still, he had managed to find a good spot, had brought a blanket and other cushiony-soft things that they could sit or lay on, and other various things so that they could just... hang out underneath the shooting stars. The night was clear and they had, he believed, the perfect view of the night sky. Now all that they needed to do was both get there and then wait for the meteor shower to appear.

Work had, thankfully, let out a bit early. It wasn't that she got out before the store closed but rather she wasn't kept after to continue cleaning and such. It seemed everyone was planning to see the meteor shower so they made sure to get out early, leave any cleaning for the morning. She had no complaints about that and so changed cloths at work, which admittedly took a few minuets, but then was on her way to meeting Derrick. When she did arrive it was with a smile on her face, she was excited to spend some time with Derrick.
Spotting the other leaning against a tree she slowed her pace for a moment, to just watch him, before finally reaching the others side. "You found a perfect place." Seating herself she moved to embrace the other, pressing a kiss to the corner of his lips.
"I had to change from my work cloths before coming." Wrinkling her nose a bit at that. She made it a point to get out of her work clothing, and into anything else, as soon as she got home. She'd mentioned before that it was a way of distancing herself from work, by removing that connection to the place, as soon as she could. She could then relax and enjoy herself. "Sorry if you had to wait too long on your own." And perhaps look like someone who'd been ditched by a date, she'd never do that to Derrick.

After a few more minutes Derrick could see Key coming and couldn't help but smile. He knew that she wouldn't ditch him, at least without texting him if something came up first. Of course, there might be a time that it happened, but at that point he would assume she was in some sort of accident so that she wouldn't be able to reach her phone. "Thanks. I'm glad I got here early enough. I've been keeping everyone at bay too." He said, sending a glare out to no one in particular, mostly as a warning to anyone who came to close that this was their space. He couldn't help but make a noise when she kissed him, a bit of a hum that escaped him, one of satisfaction. He loved her, and he loved it when she was affectionate. He tried to be a bit more, but he knew that sometimes he wasn't as good at it as she was. He wrapped one of his arms around her pulling her closer to him. "I understand. It's good to have that distinction. And I know that sometimes you can be penalized for your behavior off the clock if you're still in uniform too." Which was why he would always encourage her changing before leaving. One never knew the type of a-holes that one would encounter after work. Best not to let them know where you worked either. He gave her a grin. "Well, I have everything here I think to watch this and relax." He said, gesturing to the blankets and pillows and other things. "Work let me get off early for the meteor shower too." He felt a blush coming on as he remembered the old couple who were his bosses encouraging him to have a romantic night under the stars. Apparently they had watched these types of showers many times in the past themselves.

"I'm sure by now most of the people around are scared of you then...and no one would dare try and flirt with you." Laughing as she settled herself into place, against the others side, to watch the starry show. "Mmm, I've seen that happen. A customer thought they were on duty and simply weren't helping them. They were waiting for their ride to pick them up - a new worker. They litterally couldn't help the customer and sat there getting yelled at before rushing out for their ride." That wasn't why she did it though. She just liked to ditch her work clothing and all things connecting her to her job as soon as she could. She didn't like her job, though how many people did, so she didn't like to think about it or anything for longer than need be.
"That's good. I'm not surprised though, your bosses seem the sort to really." She had met his bosses once and they were nice, very sweet and clearly in love still.
"Maybe when we get home, after this, candles and a drink or two before bed? I don't have work tomorrow so I can sleep in." Even if he couldn't. It would let her do some work about the apartment and get some things done. But continuing the romantic night from here to home sounded nice to her.
"I don't remember...do you have tomorrow off also?" That was one thing she sometimes was bad about remembering, his hours and when he had off. If he had off as well...well they could easily both sleep in and do things later on in the day.

Derrick "hmmphed" but smiled. He knew that he wasn't a nice looking face, even if he could get along with people. But he needed a reason to talk to them, and when one was in a magical library or battling something it was easy then. But otherwise? He had his resting "jerk" face on most of the time, making sure that cashier's and people next to him in line everywhere didn't dare think of talking to him. He sighed at the mention of his bosses. "Yeah. They were so excited about meeting you too. Apparently they were worried about me being alone." Though nothing was particularly wrong with that, he did want to be with someone. But he also hadn't gone out of his way to go and find anyone either. He just liked to go home and relax or focus on parkour or something. Which was another thing he needed to remember to do this summer. It had been too hot so far. He and Key really needed to go out and surf or something. At this point only swimming seemed to be the thing that could keep him in shape in this ridiculous heat wave. Grinning he looked at her and said, "That sounds good. I have the day off too. The shop has been kind of slow, so they let me off for a few days. Though if it does get too busy for them, I have said that I'll go in, though I don't expect it. People seem to want to spend their money on the festival currently, rather than spending it on the stuff we have." Souvenirs were enough to draw the business away for a bit, but eventually they would be back. School would be staring pretty soon once again, and parents liked to send their kids cards when they first went off. "We should start sharing out calendars. Though we don't have to if you want to keep it private still." He didn't mind, but he would let her keep her privacy if she truly wanted it. He was sure there was nothing to worry about, but some people wanted to keep things private. He moved to weave their fingers together and relaxed a bit more, making sure that the pillow behind him was in a comfortable position for him to be lying against. "I'm glad we've gotten to do something this summer though. We still need to go surfing, I heard they changed they added a reservoir, though I'm sure that will be crowded as heck."

"I know - I remember. They were sweet when I met them." They'd been excited, she had wondered at the time if they'd thought she wasn't some lie that Derrick had been telling them. So finding her to be real they'd been excited and happy for her partner.
"Mmm, that's good then. We can make a night of it and sleep in tomorrow." Before maybe going out, if it wasn't too hot still. She liked the heat, it was better than winter, but there was always a point where it was too hot to do anything. Too hot to do anything but swim, cause everything else was too hot and adding in sweating and trying to keep drinking there was the risk of dehydration. "We can go out tomorrow when we get out of bed?" She offered before nodding her head.
"I can post mine on the fridge...or maybe a calendar and we fill it in. I don't mind sharing my schedule for work. We could add in ideas for plans as well then?" She offered up with a smile, brushing her hair from her face.
"I heard it was packed on opening day. But maybe it's died down enough we could go tomorrow and try? If not surf then swim." And perhaps look like fools if they tried surfing. They'd learn though - together. "It's been so hot lately. I hope we get some rain soon to break up some of the heat." As it seemed to be the only thing which might bust up some of the heat.

"They teased me for a long time afterwards, though it was just because they were happy for me." They truly had been, and had even given him some suggestions for "dates", though they were a bit outdated. Still, he had appreciated the advice, and taken the teasing well considering that they knew when to stop and not to push too much. "One day I'd like to get up earlier. I've never seen a proper sunrise, though it might be better from a cabin or beach house or something. Something to look forward to sometime. Definitely sleeping in tomorrow though. I can't imagine getting up early enough to see the sun after a night like this." He couldn't even imagine, unless it was to get up, watch the sunrise, and then immediately go back to bed again. Derrick chuckled at the fill-in calendar suggestion. "We have plenty of those at my work if you want me to get one from there. But it will be nice knowing each other's schedules at least. That way we won't have to be wondering about the other if they are at a doctor's appointment or something." There were plenty of designs they could choose from too. Large desk ones, ones with pockets, ones that would actually allow someone to write on them, etc. He sighed. "Yeah, I'd be willing to try. Though if it's too crowded I might just want to go and take a cold shower instead." It was like swimming, but with not nearly enough exercise. Okay it was more like raining, but he would much rather be doing it than fighting a crowd. "I'd be very welcome of the rain at this point. We had a lot in Spring and then it kind of died down. I can't tell if that's supposed to be a good or a bad thing."

"I think a beach - no trees in the way. I like the idea though, seeing a sunrise together would be especially nice." Something to keep in mind, she did make mental notes of these things. Maybe they could take the time, find a day off, and go the night before to the beach and fall asleep and wake with the sun. Maybe a small fire and camping at the beach like she'd seen in some movies and commercials. It was an idea...now to see if she could make it a thing.
"That would be good, if you can grab one from work, we can add in what we need and add in ideas as well?" To discuss over dinner, of course, because it was good to discuss ideas and see if there needed to be changes of any sort.
"I'm going to assume it's a bad thing. We don't normally get that much rain in the spring, at least not when I was a child. It seems to have picked up over the years..." Trailing off. She figured it was due to global warming, proof that humans were messing up the planet. "We'll try the beach tomorrow. If it's too crowded how about a pool then? At least to get some swimming in?" Rather than a boring cold shower, where no fun could really be had. "It's better than a bath or a shower. At least we can be active at a pool." So long as it wasn't too crowded.

"And we would beat the crowd. We need to do it though. Find a night and morning when it's not going to rain and that way we can just plan a whole night at the beach. We could get a tent or some sleeping bags and watch the moon for a bit with the waves... and then right before sunrise wake up and watch it together." It was one of the few things he appreciated being on Earth. Nature was so amazing. It was just so sad that humans had to go and ruin it because of their own greed. He had a calendar in mind already. It was nature themed and had a bunch of pictures of the outdoors. And suggestions as to what they could do out there together. "I'll do it the next time I work. Shouldn't be too hard. I think it has pockets too in case we need to put anything in there for reminders." He knew he liked to use them for bills sometimes. Though he had been made fun of for having such "girly" calendars before. It didn't bother him though, they were useful! He sighed. He wanted to say something about it, but now was not the time or place to go on a full-fledged rant about it. Even if he knew that she would agree with him. "Someday I just want to give up everything and go live somewhere that's not near civilization. Live off of the land, and give back to the land. But not destroy it... and if you wanted we could live together." Even if they didn't have cable and they didn't have TVs at the store, he still somehow had the news thrown at him almost 24/7 and it was starting to wear on him. He couldn't help but laugh at her shower comment. "What, you don't think showering with me is fun?" He said, giving her a look though still laughing a bit. He nodded in response though. "Sounds fine to me, though I don't want to take hours trying to find one. Maybe we know someone who might have one, or know of one that wouldn't be too crowded." He didn't want to waste too much time trying to find one, even if they did walk or drive. Either one was going to drive him crazy.

"No tent...sleeping bags alone should be fine. We can go shopping for sleeping bags tomorrow since we both have off." A perfect idea, in her opinion, which would allow them to get what they'd need for whenever they decided to have this night at the beach, it could be somewhat sudden then. "We could even get some seafood and set up a fire pit at the beach and bring a big pot to cook with?" The sudden add on, the dinner idea, was just as sudden an idea to her as it was sudden to her giving voice to it. It wasn't a bad idea though. She liked how it sounded and the mental image as well. They could get a big boiling pot and get some crab or lobster to boil and make a real thing of it.
"Pockets would be perfect. We could put tickets to events in them or if we need to ask the other to do some shopping we can put a list in there." And any coupons as well, attached to the shopping list. It was a really good idea, pockets, it would help keep things organized in their apartment.
"We could...eventually. Not right now though, you know why." He was a senshi and she was a knight .They were needed...even if she wanted, and often did, put her civilian life first. She wasn't going to give it up, especially not forever, in order to fulfill some duty. If in the end, when she was old and worn out, had no energy left with which to live her life and the war was finally over, or still going on, where would she be if she'd given up her civilian life in order to fight the war. She wasn't selfish and out for just herself...but she wasn't going to give up everything either. She wanted to enjoy the peace she fought for.
"Maybe the internet would be nice to keep, and phones. We need to keep in touch with family and friends. But we could do that - somewhere near the water." So they could swim and maybe fish but certainly so they could swim and surf and sleep on the beach or just walk the beach at dawn.
Shaking her head, laughing, Key couldn't help but press her lips to his and ruffle his hair. "Showering with you is fun - more than fun I'd say. But it's not the same as swimming." Another kiss and she settled into his side. "I think a few places have pools. I know a gym which does...and getting a membership wouldn't be too bad. We can afford it." She was sure of that, she'd been doing her research in fact.

"Your idea sounds way better than mine. I just don't want to get pooped on by some sort of bird. Maybe we should get a cooler that locks or something, in case a while animal comes by and tries to get into it." At least they had the money to spend on these things, and it would be fun to go shopping for them. At least they could do it together, and it was better than having to go alone. And so much better than having to shop for groceries. Derrick seriously thought about paying for the delivery app instead of actually going to the store quite a few times. "It is making me hungry though." It would be good though. They could learn how to cook something new and he certainly wasn't against trying trying something new with seafood. "I'll make sure to grab it though." He thought he remembered seeing some vacation-themed one in them. He couldn't help but let out a frustrated sigh at her next comment though. Yeah, he knew why, but he also wanted to forget to. But how could he? He had to decide between being distracted by a magical war or the planet on the brink of extinction. He wasn't sure if he liked either of those, and often wondered if his monster-riddled moon wouldn't have been better even if it was always dark. "No matter where you go, the internet is a must." At least to keep in contact, even if he did barely every say anything to his father and brother. Still, he tried to contact them at least once a month. He moved his arm and wrapped it around her, happy that they were settling in a bit more, and not a moment too soon. Or at least, he thought he saw it starting. "True, it's not. But it's still fun and a way to exercise." He said, before taking a moment to watch the shower as more and more of the "shooting stars" started to show up. He took a moment to kiss her head before moving and settling back himself to watch.

"I like that idea - and I don't think a bird will do t hat." At least she hoped not. The odds were slim though, at least it seemed like it, how often did people honestly get s**t on by a bird? "I'm sure we can find a locking cooler that we can use." Maybe d**k's sporting goods? It sounded like something they'd have, since they did deal with camping stuff and that would be useful for camping.
"Maybe we should get home once this star shower is over so we can get some food...if you're hungry." Smiling at him, a touch of mischief and teasing in her pale eyes. "The idea of camping at the beach and cooking there is making me hungry as well." And it was, how could it not? But she was still going to tease her partner about being made hungry by the idea. "I can't imagine living without the internet...and I sometimes do wonder how people did that for so long." It was something she'd grown up with, they both had, it was just always a part of their lives which had always existed - ever growing and expanding as it was.
Settling into his side as the stars did start to streak across the sky, it really was beautiful to watch. "One day we'll move away from everything...and find a way to work from the woods." Or a jungle...or somewhere.

"You never know." He sang back a bit, teasing her. Though he really, really hoped a seagull wouldn't do that. But now he was going to be paranoid! "We'll have to add that to the list then." He made a mental note of it. Sleeping bags, locking cooler, probably some other stuff besides the food. He couldn't help but grin back at her suggestion. "Of course. I think you should be more worried if I'm not hungry." He laughed a bit. "The internet just makes everything so convenient, it's hard to give up." He liked to use it to be inspired for calligraphy techniques and watching videos on parkour and what to do/what not to do and many other things. "That... sounds good. I know we'll be able to make it one day." He had to. He knew he still had to deal with the murderous monster back on his moon, but he would call for backup, and he hoped that others would come. He couldn't move forward with his powers until he did so. But for now, he settled in, relaxing a bit more, and silently watching the rest of the meteor shower with Key, before they both headed back to the apartment to enjoy the night a bit more...
