The Wishing Tree (2) : Your wish is only said to come true if you grant the wish of someone else; when you write your wish, you must also take one off of the tree and do your best to grant it. What wish do you pull off, and how do you intend to ‘grant’ it? Do you work with someone else to grant this wish, or do you work alone? You may get approval from another player to use the wish their character hung up, but no names are attached so your character may not ever know who wrote it!

Her face was already familiar to the volunteers at the stall; she had run off rather unceremoniously and it was only as she returned that she noticed one kindly woman waving for her attention. Had she forgotten something? Liliane had left a donation of sorts towards the flower gardens, in particular those grown seasonally to help to promote awareness of certain illnesses, but beyond that... Her expression remained puzzled as she drew nearer the woman and offered a warm, yet curious smile.

"Hi there!" No sooner had she gotten within an ample distance to converse without shouting than the red head was already offering a greeting. "Are you all right, did I forget something?" She glanced down again and checked her bag, but for the life of her she couldn't put her finger on it.

It was with a chuckle that the woman shook her head and held out what Liliane had miss, and it came in the form of the charms that had been available at a variety of the stalls strewn across the city. She hadn't inspected them all yet, but they had been quite open in offering them to those who were also celebrating. A sign of good will as it were, and in this particular instance, she was 'due' one of her own. It was an Emerald Star Charm and was quite apt to have been handed to her at the Wishing Tree despite the fact that several colours were available.

She took a moment to admire it, but on this occasion this wasn't why she had returned.

It was with thanks that she departed the stall and instead she moved towards the trees boughs once more to walk among the coloured paper that hung from it. Each held a wish, one just as hopeful as the next, and based on the tales of this event one could only expect to have their wish granted if they granted the wish of someone else. Paying it forward was something that Liliane could get behind and she reached out a hand to grasp one of the papers strung above her.

Clasping it carefully in her hand she moved away once more and opened it up gently to inspect the wish inside.

I wish that the park bench by the pond wasn't so splintered.

It was with a pause that she looked up and raised a brow before looking down at the paper again. There were several park benches strewn around the pond, which was it referring to? The wish in itself was easy in theory and one she certainly wouldn't struggle to complete, but a few directions would have helped!

She'd solve that part of the mystery after she had visited the hardware store - after all, if she was going to do this properly she would need some heavy duty sand paper and some wood varnish; not the shiny kind, just the stuff that would keep the wood tempered and well cared for in poor weather.

If anything, she would have argued that getting to the hardware store and back was the longest part of her 'quest', yet on her return to the park, as she surveyed the benches that lay before her, she began to realise that there may have been a reason the specifics had been skipped. Each of the benches was in a state of disrepair, mostly wear and tear and only in need of TLC, but that did mean that to grant this wish she would have to do more than just one of them.

If only her 'super powers' involved woodworking instead, eh?

With a wry smile she set to work, focusing on the one closest to her first. She'd make her way clockwise, completing each in turn, but it did mean she would be at this for a couple of hours at least.

She'd return to the festivities when she was done, for now she had work to do, and with everyone preoccupied with the festivities this was the perfect opportunity to fix the benches. She might look back on her handiwork at a later date and wonder why she hadn't thought of making some "Wet Paint" signs for the benches for when they were done...Hindsight 20/20 and all that.

For now though, the red head simply set to work and was likely to be left to her own devices for the duration of it.
