Recent events weighed on his mind. They dragged him down the path of 'what if' and the risks and rewards presented within. Worse, he doubted many other than those who were well acquainted with the original rise of negaverse would understand his sudden desire for alarm, the sudden caution he felt necessary. Tanzanite was supposedly dead. More, he had seen her rise and how far it had been when she'd fallen. She was their tool, a shell all but broken and ready to shatter.
But Metallia wouldn't get rid of such a valuable asset- not until she absolutely had too. And while Tanz was loyal- Castor saw her. He saw how she had nothing left but her loyalty.

Not to mention, that in the scheme of events, Cadeus had yet to return, and there was no sign he would. Things were brewing under the surface he felt. Things were happening in a convoluted order that spoke of a rise to a confrontation.
Oh, and there was the also rebirth of someone recently descended. Not to mention his current conundrum regarding a possible purification.

He disliked bothering Cosmos as often as he did- but as it was, she was the sole resource they had for these matters. The code was not of senshi make, nor did mauvians have the ability of knowledge to answer many of these questions and concerns. So, as before, outside the city, Castor sent his wish to the stars muttering under his breath.

"Ring ring star shine."

"Castor," the woman's voice was sweet. Tired, but almost sounding playful enough to seem pleased.

She arrived in her usual fashion: a trail of light across the sky, and a seamless landing that made it appear like she'd simply walked all the way here from the Galaxy Cauldron.

"Some days, I feel like you're the only one on the planet who remembers me. I've seen more of you than anyone else." There was a sort of sadness, loneliness, but she was a creature of duty and would not complain. She loved her job, she understood the necessity of her purpose.

But there was a part of her that was still human. That still remembered.

"But every time you call me, I cannot help but worry about you. I know you would not call me for something frivolous. What has happened?"

Everytime she came he always couldn't help but let a tiny smile cross his face. The telling glittering stars in her wake were a welcome sight and her words made him chuckle slightly.
"Oh, I think it's more due to the fact you're a bit ethereal. Something we shouldn't seek; but I break rules all the time, so that might be why you see me more than most."

He gave a good natured shrug before motioning for them to do as they had done before, walk and talk, this time through the woods, further from the city.
"And sadly yes, it is not a social call, however, I wouldn't be opposed to making one." It was hard to tell if he was serious or not.

"A lot has changed in a short time. And few things for the better." Fingers tugged on white strands of his hair, brushing it behind and ear as he thought best how to approach the topic.
"How often are those who pass to the Cauldron returned to life within a single generation? I know that we once hoped for the moon princess to revive after her and her courts fall in Japan, but they were somewhat exceptional. More I ask as a rule of thumb."

He huffed. "If I am correct in my guess, I am not sure what it would mean for the war, but if I am not, then I am at a loss for how things have come to pass."

Cosmos walked with a rigidity that indicated it had been too long since she last relaxed. Still, she had a permanent calm about her. Her eyes lingered on the city in the distance for the few seconds that they could, taking in the sight of the ever changing world she had left behind. She walked with him into the woods with no hesitation or alarm, listening attentively.

"You ask a question without an answer," she said after a bit of thought. "When the universe was whole, when the Cauldron's power was as it should it should be, I may have had a singular answer. Now," she shrugged. "It depends."

There was a sadness that clung to her words, her face, even when all other emotions seemed to have faded.

"I keep the starseeds for as long as they need to recover, to prepare for their next life. There are exceptions, of course. Sometimes, a starseed knows where it wants to be. Fighters, who were not yet ready to leave the battlefield. Spirits, with work left unfinished. Sometimes they do not need, nor want, time to heal. The Cauldron repairs the damage of a life, you know. The cosmic energy of the universe restores them. And then, they are reborn, pure and whole again. But," she shook her head. "Sometimes I find a starseed fighting to escape the Cauldron. Or, to get back before it even reaches the Cauldron."

Her smile was soft, resolute, and not entirely filled with joy. "We all do what we must. I cannot bring back the dead. But I can give them another chance."

"Ah". It was a singular, monosyllable answer that wasn't one at the same time. It depends- how painfully vague. More, how annoyingly problematic for them on the whole. He hoped it might not be the case, because then, the frail balance they had could easily be displaced in easier means than he previously thought.

"I wished for a simple answer but nothing is simple these days." He sighed loudly, pulling hair from his face and tucking it behind and ear. "Pity, but we'll have to account for it. I am glad though, it does clarify a few things, or rather, a person I knew was dead returning to life." But.. there was always a 'but'.

"Her name was Saiph. She was one of the first killed. While not close, she was a good person, and we all felt her loss back then I think." And in the brutal manner of her death? He remembered feeling ill thinking on it, now it was just a dull ache of memory.
"I met her again, miraculously, yet as a chibi senshi, no idea of her past within the same city, of the life that was once her own. Cosmos-" He stopped for a moment, a drop of worry and concern in his words.
"She won't remember will she? What happened to her? She is- She is a child." She should be allowed to be free of that knowledge is what he wanted to say. Fingers came up and pinched his nose, fighting the frustration at his own inability to protect her from what was in truth, an eventual knowledge.
"I would see her innocent of that until she is... older. Reliving your death is... unpleasant."

He looked to his companion. Blinking mutely at her.
"I must sound like meddling sibling rather than a distant royal."

"Have you ever cared about what you sounded like?" she asked, almost amused. There was something nearly playful in her eyes, in the way the corner of her lip twitched upwards just slightly.

It was short lived, though; any topic of death was met with some grief.

"I cannot control what she will remember. It is what she is ready to remember. What her starseed will show her. If we are lucky, it is not a memory she will uncover. It will not be one she needs to know. But," she sighed.

"...We must always prepare for the worst. Fate is not something anyone can deny. If she is meant to know, she will. Her starseed was ready to awaken, even at a young age."

Cosmos sighed. "I wish all in this world could experience the safety and joy and innocence of being a child, but if her starseed was ready for this...we must accept that she is, in at least some way, prepared. She may be a child, but she is also a soldier. The world is not fair, but we do her no favors by babying her. Just remember that when you see her. Be gentle, if you can. But do not coddle her. I would hate to see her wind up with another untimely death. She needs to be trained, prepared, the same as any other in this war."
