Lailah hadn’t quite realized it, but she had been complimented several times by her teachers that she seemed to be retaining the information more and paying attention in class. This could have been for several reasons. Perhaps the material was more entertaining than it had been before. After all, she was a junior now, so she wasn’t playing with simple stuff like blocks and coloring books and whatnot.

Or perhaps she was getting a bit more active, which meant that she didn’t have as much energy while sitting around in the classroom. She didn’t think that was happening, after all it wasn’t like she was exercising or anything. She hadn’t started any sports or other things that would really get one into shape. She had been walking a bit more, but it was summer, which of course she would be walking more! It wasn’t freezing cold out and she could actually enjoy the weather!

Still, she took it as a compliment. She still wasn’t sure if it was truly the case or not, but she did realize that she needed to not be so air-headed and needed to actually work on accomplishing things. It hadn’t been easy as a little Freshling, the assignments at least. But she was a junior now, and she had started to get behind everyone else. Sure, she still had her friend and dorm-mate Talia, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t feel a bit lonely about everyone growing up and graduating! And she still wasn’t sure what she wanted to do! Lately though, she had been thinking that it would be interesting to study healing magics and perhaps help others. But in order to do that, she would have to work very, very hard at it. And if she had to do that, well then, she would do it! She just knew she wanted to be helpful in some way, and doing it in a magical way, instead of a physical way was probably going to be easier for her.

She had suggested it to her counselor, and they had been very happy to hear it! Her counselor had started to immediately bombard her with information on it, but Lailah had told the woman to calm down and that she would do much more as a senior, and wanted to concentrate instead on getting to the next level of education, before trying out for anything else!
