It had been a long day at work. Quill had a lot of appointments, and several drop ins for some piercings today, and of course this was the one time Bowie had a customer scheduled for a several hour session, so Quill was on his own, trying to handle the steady stream of clients. But the day was done! He walked into his apartment, only to spot his roommate, Xenon, face down on the couch.

"Have you even moved since this morning?" Quill asked, a little worried for the kumiho. There was a mumbled reply from the other man. "What?"

"I got up once." He said more clearly. Quill sighed and moved to the couch. He stared at Xenon a moment before picking the man's legs up so he could sit, and let Xenon's legs rest in his lap.

"Are you still bent out of shape over that text?" He asked softly.

"Maybe." Was the muffled reply. Quill sighed. This was pathetic. Xenon had been a wreck ever since going on a date for the Hunter's Jubilee with… what was his name? Kináed?

"Dude, it's been three days."

"Kinny asked me out." That wasn't really what Quill expected to hear from him.

"And… you don't want to go out? Or was this just one hell of a text?" He had to do something to help his friend. "Gimme your phone, I wanna read it." Xenon didn't argue, fishing his phone out of his pocket and held his hand out awkwardly. Quill had to lean over to reach the phone so he could find the message from Kinny. "This… doesn't seem too bad. He had a good time with you and wants to see you again. What's the problem?"

"Quiiiiiiiiiiiiill!" Xenon whined. "You don't understand! Kinny is… amazing! He was really nice when we were at the party, and… and even though it was awkward, he kept making sure I was having fun. He's thoughtful and kind and fun and just amazing!"

"I still don't see the problem."

"He's also absolutely gorgeous! A complete hottie!" Quill was silent at that. How was any of this bad? Xenon didn't seem about to say anything more.

"And…?" Quill finally prompted.

"And I don't know what he sees in me!" Ah, there it was. "I mean, he's seems like such an amazing guy, he could probably date anyone he wanted, but… But he… I…" He trailed off with a frustrated groan into the cushions. Quill rolled his eyes.

"You're just a nerdy shut-in, right?" Quill knew he had to do something to get Xenon out of this stupid funk he was in. He glanced at the phone still in his hand. "You think you aren't good enough?" He started tapping away to reply to Kinny for Xenon.

"Exactly! I'm just… a three tailed kumiho… and a mutant-"

"Hollowed." Quill corrected. He hated when people called them mutants. Sure he and Xenon looked different then others of their kinds, but they weren't some sort of freaks.

"Fine, I'm just a hallowed kumiho with only three tails. I sit in front of a computer all day making games, and when I'm done with that, I'm playing them. I'm weird and boring!"

"Maybe he likes that." Quill sent the text he wrote. "And, isn't this the exact sort of thing you've been telling Chidori? It doesn't matter how many tails you have, you're still a great person. And you left the village a long time ago now. So you're good with computers. Before you left the village you hadn't even seen one, right? The fact you learned so fast is impressive."

"Chidori's still just a kid." Xenon sighed. "Maybe if I had someone telling me I could be great when I was little, I'd be better. But no one back home cares for a three tailed kid like me. And my tails are so long."

"Xenon? Shut up." Quill said softly. "You aren't in the village anymore. No one here cares how many tails you have, and since when has having longer tails ever been a bother?" Quill looked at his own tail. The demon's differences were more obvious then Xenon's. The spade of his tale was deformed, he had weird horns, and long droopy ears, but he never once let that get him down. Suddenly, Xenon's phone chimed. "Hey, you got a text. It's from Kináed."

"WHAT?!" Xenon practically fell off the couch as he tried to roll over and sit up without smacking Quill in the face with his tails or legs.

"Yup. You have a date for Friday night." Quill grinned and handed Xenon his phone. The man snatched it out of Quill's hands to read the text.

"YOU REPLIED FOR ME?!" He sounded appalled, but also relieved. Quill's text was so… simple. He apologized for the delay in reply, agreed that they should see each other again, and suggested a time and place to meet. Why couldn't he do that? "Quiiiiiiiiiiill!" He whined. "Friday… is… that is, I… Uh… Chidori and I were…" He was trying to think up an excuse not to go, but he couldn't think of one, and honestly, he really did want to see Kinny again.

"Whatever you were going to do with Chidori, I'll take her out." He knew Xenon didn't actually have plans. The poor computer geek was so transparent sometimes. "Besides, she's going to be so glad you're going to see him again so you stop moping around about it." That comment earned Quill a smack to the face with one of Xenon's tails.

"You're a jerk." Xenon tried to sound annoyed. "But… thank you." Quill grinned.

"Face it, I'm amazing. And be sure to thank him properly for that plushie he gave you." Xenon's head snapped to the side as he stared at Quill. "I mean, I saw you cuddling it like it was the most precious thing on the planet." Xenon paled for a moment, then blushed bright pink. He couldn't think of anything else to say, so his tail lashed out and smacked Xenon in the face again, just making the demon laugh. "Well, go on. Tell him you're looking forward to the date, and you can't wait to see him." Xenon wasn't sure if he should be mad or not, so he just grumbled something, sulking back into the couch, curling his knees close as he stared at his phone for a moment before typing something out, deleting it, typing again, then sent it.

"Quill? Thanks… I think." Xenon said shyly. He really was looking forward to seeing Kinny again, but… "OH MY GOD I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!" Quill could only laugh.
