Work had been...trying, to say the least. How do you tell a customer, one who is paying a lot of money, that you can't do that style? Not only that but how do you explain that going through eight different ideas, each one moving further and further away from the original idea and style, is not something you want to do? Something you don't find entertaining. He'd spent the previous night working on yet another sketch for her, this time it was in a more realistic design. He'd spent all night looking up pictures of flowers and trying to make them all look right, it was not easy with some of what she'd given him, and the whole time he'd wondered how it had come to this?
Originally a koi fish design, with maple leaves, had become some exotic jungle of flowers done in real detail. He had not signed on to this, and he didn't think he could handle it. Today she had come in, as she'd texted him at two in the morning about, to see what he had done for her. She hadn't liked it.
Somehow...somehow he was off and now she wanted butterfly's as well. Not just one, that would be too damn simple, she wanted several of them and not all the same. She couldn't be so simple and give him a break - nope.
After she had left, having given him his new marching orders, he'd gone to one of the more senior artists and asked for their help. He'd even asked them if they could take over; this wasn't his style.
They had promised to work on an idea, or two, and try and cajole her over to them next time she came in to check on his progress.
That had left him feeling better, like a weight was off his shoulders, but he still worried she wouldn't like the idea. It was enough worry, and annoyance with her, that had him unable to make dinner for himself when he got up to his apartment. So he'd decided to head out to get food.
That was why he was headed for a small dive of a food place intent on some sushi. The place was small, and often packed due to how tiny it was, but the sushi was worth all the people.
Hands in his pockets he took a few moments to glance about as he waited for the light to turn green, so he could cross the street.

It was so interesting to see how people went about their lives. Julienne sat on a bench, her long tail slowly moving back and forth as her bright blue eyes watched the dark haired young man as he prepared to cross the street. Here he was, thinking that everything was just fine, when in reality…he was something far more special than he could ever really understand.
He was going to cross the street and come right into her waiting, eager paws, and for a moment she thought about…getting ahead of the game, and she did, executing a quite stellar backflip and producing the henshin pen that he would need for his new role in life. It was easy to catch it and lightly drop it down between her two front paws as she continued to watch the male, meowing plaintively as he drew nearer.
He had to notice her. He was a senshi. Soon to be one of her senshi.
All that was left was for him to finish crossing the street!
The Siberian’s tail began to flick just a little faster, betraying her eagerness.

He'd never been much of a dog person, too jumpy and eager not to mention the noise. Cats were always preferred. No cages to clean, as they handled the bathroom and smell of it on their own, and they were active enough without being as energetic and loud as dogs. So when he heard a cat, just as he finished crossing the street, he stopped and turned his dark eyes onto the cat. "Ohhh.." Talking to a cat seemed a bit strange, like something out of a drama or a movie, but as he knelt down in front of the cat he reached out to pet their head he couldn't help talking.
"Aren't you pretty...well taken care of but no collar. Someone must be missing you..." Reaching out to perhaps scoop her up, and bring her with him, he noticed the odd item nestled between her paws. "Odd..." But interesting looking, some sort of fancy pen? Had someone dropped a pen and this cat had decided it was a toy?

When Julienne was noticed, she began purring eagerly, watching the male with intense blue eyes. “Would you like it?” She asked softly, moving to rub at the hand that was reaching towards her, rubbing her head against it and continuing to purr eagerly.
“It is yours, after all. Your destiny. Why don’t you take me somewhere more quiet, and put the pen into your pocket and we can talk some more…if you’d like.”
Her voice was soft and encouraging. She didn’t want to frighten him, oh no. That would never do.
“My name is Julienne, and it’s wonderful to meet you. I had so hoped you’d stop by and talk with me…now, come on! Don’t you want to embrace your future? You’re an amazing person!”
She sounded excited and her purrs increased in volume. “It’s time to become who you are meant to be!” It was a little ominous, but she didn’t really care. There was no way he could refuse such an offer…right? No way he’d decide that this was crazy…and he was crazy. “Let’s go someplace quiet and I’ll be able to explain everything in a bit more detail!”

That startled the normally calm male, enough so that he landed on his a** on the ground. "T-talking cat..." That wasn't possible. But he wasn't hallucinating, he was sure of that, but how was this possible? Cats didn't talk, they didn't have what was necessary to allow for them to talk.
"What do you mean it's mine?" Nevermind the fact it was a talking cat. She was telling him that something, which he'd never seen, was his. How the hell was it his? This had to be a dream, right? Because he was sure it couldn't be real. Shaking his head he scooped the cat up and headed off for somewhere more secluded. He couldn't tell anyone, if asked, why he was following the instructions of a cat but this was a dream so it was ok. At least he was sure he was dreaming...but did people in a dream realize they were dreaming - ever? That wasn't a thing...was it? Was it possible?
"Hisoka...." Hesitant in giving his name, even if this was a dream, he was still sort of cautious as he found a nice area away from most populated areas at this time in the evening.
"Explain. Because as far as I figure I'm dreaming...and I'm aware of it." And would hopefully wake up, sooner rather than later.

Julienne sighed ruefully at his reaction, though seemed pleased when he scooped her up, beginning to purr loudly, comforted by the arms around her and the male’s chest warm against her fur.
“You’re not dreaming, Hisoka! I promise that you’re not. There are a lot of Guardians like me around the city. Some aren’t as trustworthy as others though, and I am very glad that I found you before one of the others could, or you could have been led down a very different path!”
When they were alone she gently wriggled out of his arms, nudging the henshin pen towards him. “You aren’t dreaming, you’re about to awaken to your destiny, Hisoka…or should I say…Sailor Miyamoto. You are a soldier with the sphere of the Tsuara Onna…you are going to be quite amazing, you know!” And not just because he was going to be her senshi. Because the sphere sounded…impressive. She had no idea what it was but… It sounded impressive!
“This pen is the key to unlocking your magic! Hold it and say Miyamoto Power, Make-Up! Those are the words to unlock everything!”

"You'll have to explain to me about these other guardians and this other, different, path." He stated as he kept the cat close to himself, ducking his head to talk so he didn't seem like some sort of crazy cat person, or just a crazy person in general.
As the cat wriggled out of his arms, and onto the ground, he took the pen."Tsura onna...icicle woman..." Translating it aloud he shook his head. "Those are yokai and not real." Though people spoke about them, he'd grown up with stories about various yokai as a child. His parents wanting to raise him on such stories, folktales, as they were traditional and they wanted him to have that bit of Japan even as he grew up in a different country. He'd never lived in Japan, he'd been born in this city, but his parents had come over from Kyoto.
"This all sounds like some shoujo anime, like my cousins watch." Anime was not his thing. "Unlocking magic and such." Waving a hand about to show what he meant, sort of, but he did as the cat said...and it worked. His clothing had most certainly changed. He would never, and had never, worn something so formal and traditional in nature.
"Ok...shoujo anime." As real life? This had to certainly be a dream, yet he wasn't waking up yet.

Icicle Woman? Julienne looked curious and a little excited. That sounded…really cool. No pun intended. “Well, no…it’s…not anything out of any anime…this is real life! I’m not saying that you are an…icicle woman, that’s just what your powers are based off of, you see?”
When he listened to her…when he powered up she felt that overwhelming sense of pride that she always did when she had helped to awaken a new senshi, and without thinking, she moved to wind around his ankles, purring loudly. “It’s not any anime, Miyamoto this is real life from here on out! You have the power to help protect the innocent in this city…there’s a lot of trouble here. A lot of bad people who think that they can take this city…take this whole planet…” She sat back down and looked up at him, a worried expression on her face. “It’s up to the senshi, the senshi and the knights to protect it. To protect the people who live here and make sure that chaos doesn’t continue to spread!”
Taking a moment, the mauvian circled around him, inspecting every inch of his interesting fuku. “You’re going to be such a big help! You have magic now, you know! To summon it, all you have to do is concentrate and say the words Sweeping Loneliness, and that will activate the magic…you see, there…there’s so many perks to this…and it’s not made up, I promise. This isn’t a dream, Miyamoto, this is for real!”

Powers based on icicle women....well that would be interesting. He knew the story, he'd heard plenty of fairytales and the like when he's been younger. This was going to be interesting..how could powers be based off that story?
Protect the innocent? Did he really want to do that? To risk himself to try and be some hero? As the cat continued to talk he wondered if this bad group were why the city had issues, was this them trying to take over the city? But it still took two to have a fight and caught these problems - right? Otherwise they'd have already taken over. The fact he was on some opposing side meant these senshi, like himself, and knights only added to the problems in this city. Lovely.
"And what do they want to do which makes them bad and not us? Do we want to take this city?" What was the point? Just to stop the other side? But what did that other side want to do other than take over the city...and the planet apparently, although who would want to rule the planet. This planet, and the people on it, had more issues than any one person or government could handle so why want it all?
Ok, so not a dream. Maybe this was a nightmare? Not the sort of sleeping one but real life nightmare? He needed a few more answers...and time, experience. He needed to figure this out a bit more, see what was what on his own, and then he'd figure this out. Because magic was not for him what it would be for some...for those who would get starry eyed and all excited over it. It seemed a bit like a burden actually...some sort thing which game with obligations and all manner of other less savory things.

The cat blinked, her face scrunching up into what was obviously a frown. “No, we don’t want to take the city…we’re trying to prevent the disappearances, the deaths…the…the ones cursed with chaos, they can reach into a person’s chest and remove their very soul. They take energy from people and use it for their own gain, there are lives at stake. We’re not trying to take over anything…we just want to protect. Save. Preserve…”
At least, that was how she always saw her duty. What others thought…well. That was their business. She wasn’t one to judge if they wanted to do things in their own way…and she wouldn’t get involved so long as people weren’t getting hurt.
“…You look as though…you’re hesitant…” For a moment, Julienne felt…almost guilty for awakening him this way. She wasn’t used to people acting as though they didn’t want this…and wasn’t used to them actually not wanting it.
It made her feel uneasy. “…I apologize…I just…wanted to protect you…if I did wrong…I am very sorry.”

So this side, the side he was apparently on, didn't want to take over...just prevent the city from being taken. But by what means? People were different and their actions as well differed so he was sure some were also involved in this ill behavior. Maybe not as many but he doubted everyone on this bad side did what the cat described either. After a few moments of silent thought he shook his head at the cat.
"It's fine - really. Just a lot to take in and more questions and a need to understand." To learn as much as he could without being involved yet, without supporting the wrong side. He might be on the supposed good side but that didn't mean it was all good or that there wasn't some real darkness at it's core as well. He didn't jump to trusting things, that just wasn't smart.
He just wished he had more answers - more knowledge. He didn't tell the cat any of this, he doubted they'd like what was going on in his head. It was likely to hurt this cats feelings. The only good thing here, about becoming a senshi, that he saw right now was that he now knew what was going on in his city. He had some clue what was really happening...he just didn't know all of it. There was a lot more to learn and choices to be made, on his part.
"If this keeps me safe than that is good."

Julienne nodded and gave a hesitant purr, moving to rub against his ankles. “…If you want…I can come home with you and tell you all that I know? You’re…you’re my senshi now and I want to make sure that you’re settled and equipped with all of the knowledge that you need to be…and I’ll admit…” She tried to look cute, to look like any cat on youtube would.
“…I’m more than a little hungry and wouldn’t say no to a nice warm meal either…if you…were so inclined?”
Honestly, she wasn’t sure this would even work. She wasn’t sure…that this senshi was going to be happy at all for being awakened…and it made her feel very sad.
“We should…stay friends…and I hope that you agree…at the very least…I’m a good foot warmer!”

How could he say no to a cat? Could anyone? Worse yet was this one talked so it could verbalize just what it wanted. "I was just heading away from home - to get food. We can go back and I'll make something." Though sushi was still a rather appealing idea. He didn't think going in with a cat was a good idea, it would likely get him thrown out of a place in fact. He did, thankfully, have a fairy full fridge and kitchen when it came to things to cook and cook with.
"You can explain things to me while I make food. I do want to know what I can about this." And he wasn't going to limit himself to what the cat had to say, he'd seek out more.
"Mmm, I don't know about the last thing. You've yet to be a foot warmer really." Since his feet were in shoes and thus warm all on there own. "Perhaps we'll see." Perhaps she would spend the night, who knew.
"Follow me, lets get going." His apartment was right above the tattoo shop he worked at, and it was small. Wooden floors and rather well lived in looking with the lingering smell of incense but it was home and he was good with it. It was better than his parents home.
Heading home Hisoka took the time to look at the cat. "before I get home...how do I stop looking like this?" Motioning to his clothing...uniform. Whatever it was called.

“Oh!” Julienne kept pace beside him, though wished he would have at least offered to carry her, ah well. “That’s an easy question! You just simply think about…who you are, outside of the uniform, and it will just melt away! It’s great how that works, I think.” She fell quiet and silently worried about this senshi. It wasn’t…she wasn’t used to awakening ones who were so detached, and perhaps she shouldn’t have been so proactive. Maybe it would have been better to simply have waited to see if he noticed her…and at that point…
To have struck up a conversation. Let him choose this path for himself rather than force it upon him…
With a sigh, the Siberian bowed her head as she followed him, guilt washing upon her in waves. “…You know…I am happy that I got to awaken you…I think you’ll be very good at this, if you want to be…” Her voice was soft, and she quietly vowed to really watch over him. To make sure he was safe.
This may have been a mistake…but she was going to make sure that he knew that he was cared for…and she was going to make sure he was prepared for anything.

"That doe sound easy." Thankfully, it was as sparkly as it was to power up he would have been annoyed, that sparkly bit was...uncomfortable to say the least. Couldn't it be less...noticeable and less ...out of an anime. He would forever think it was something out of a magical girls anime. Powering down he took a moment to turn and scoop the cat up. It was easier to carry her, plus it was easier to talk to her with her up close. It would be very strange if anyone saw him talking to a cat otherwise, and he didn't need looks from people.
"I'm not social - I don't like people generally. To work with others, as I assume I'll need to, isn't something I'm looking forward to." He wasn't looking forward to the emotional tugging this whole thing might do on his heartstrings as well.
"I don't know what I have in my kitchen, you might have to give me ideas on what you want to eat."
