xX PERSONALITY xxxxxx
IDEALISTIC - Sabrina grew up as a very romantic and optimistic girl, and even as an adult woman she has an idealized and at times unrealistic world view. She expects the best from others, which often leads to hurt feelings and failed expectations on her part, and she can come across as quite naive and easily misled due to her more innocent demeanor. RESILIENT - Despite her sometimes dreamy world view, Sabrina is a surprisingly resilient and determined individual. She is more mentally hardy than she first appears, and she is able to bounce back from tragic or shocking events without being severely impacted by them. It's not to say that she doesn't experience anger or grief like everyone else, but she is able to compartmentalize her upset feelings for the sake of pushing onward. CREATIVE - Sabrina is an artistic and open-minded person who thinks outside the box. She can be very resourceful and is not bound by any 'set' way of going about things. While some of her ideas or plans can be foolhardy and impractical, she isn't easily deterred, and enjoys the challenge of being able to think and plot her way out of various bothersome or even dangerous situations. Her ability to keep a cool head also helps. HESITANT - While Sabrina is generally able to think on her feet when in physical danger, when it comes to interpersonal conflict she can be frustratingly hesitant to take a stand and very indecisive about who she sides with. Not wanting to make a mistake or regret her choices, she often overcompensates by not choosing at all, and by being too timid or otherwise passive during arguments or debates. SENSITIVE - Sabrina tries to put on a fairly plucky and positive demeanor, but she is a very thin-skinned person who is easily affected or hurt by others' opinions. She can get very defensive when questioned or criticized, and is often over-aware of how others are feeling, which makes her nervous about speaking out or disagreeing with them, even when it's necessary for the greater good. DIPLOMATIC - In spite of her sometimes more timid and defensive nature, Sabrina does try to be fair and tactful with others. She would never want to put anyone on the spot or embarrass them, and usually thinks before she speaks, even when tensions are running high. She dislikes seeing others fight or bicker, and will generally try to head off any emerging conflicts, successful or not. Her more discreet and delicate nature can sometimes come in handy, especially when dealing with children.

spaceSabrina was born and raised in the small town of Wolfe City, Texas, the second child and eldest daughter of Nick Ortiz, an electrician, and Kathy Ortiz, a preschool teacher. She grew up in a loud but loving household alongside her older brother, Ruben, and her younger siblings, Alexis and Daniel. Unlike her more rambunctious and extroverted siblings, Sabrina was a shy but sweet little girl who enjoyed spending time with her mother, reading picture books and helping her garden in their backyard. She was also quite close with Ruben, the two of them often playing make believe together and pretending to be knights and princesses or superheroes.
spaceSabrina was always a good student who daydreamed a lot but did well in school, even if her homework often had doodles on the margins. She never had much trouble making friends, and spent most weekends attending Ruben's baseball or soccer games or playing outside with her younger sister Alexis. She did ballet as a little girl but while it made her less clumsy, didn't continue with it past the age of nine or ten. Mostly she enjoyed more solitary activities, such as reading and drawing, or watching movies with her siblings while they waited for their parents to get home from work.
spaceIn high school Sabrina kept to herself but was liked well enough; she did cheer-leading for a brief time, which led to her meeting her first (and thus far only) serious romantic partner, Austin. Confident, attractive, and just a little bit conceited, Austin was the quintessential Big Man on Campus. Sabrina was flattered by his flirty nature and open interest in her, and the two began dating her junior year. While her protective parents were less than pleased with this development, they mostly left the relationship alone, and while Sabrina's schoolwork suffered, she considered herself happy. She and Austin were still together when they graduated, and she couldn't see herself with anyone else.
spaceAfter graduation Sabrina attended community college, while Austin, who had not been a very good student and whose dreams of a football scholarship had fallen through, worked odd jobs and considered his options. Eventually he announced his intention to enlist in the military, much to Sabrina's dismay. While the two began to argue much more and almost broke up twice, in the end Austin convinced Sabrina that it would be best if they got married and moved onto base together. He presented this as the only way to save their floundering relationship, and Sabrina, not wanting to break up after years of dating and thinking this had to be love, hesitantly agreed.
spaceDespite her family's open qualms, Sabrina went ahead with the courthouse wedding and the two moved onto the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth. Having gotten her Associates, she decided to take a break from higher education and work instead. Between her grueling hours and crappy pay as a waitress, and the stresses of military training, the frankly immature relationship between the two lovebirds rapidly deteriorated. The revelation that Austin had been cheating on her for the past year did not help matters. After barely a year of marriage, Sabrina decided that she wanted a divorce, and began the process of moving back home, counting herself lucky that there weren't any children (or pets) in the mix.
spaceAs bad luck would have it, this happened to coincide with the outbreak. Sabrina had initially been too busy packing and organizing and trying to sell stuff to notice the increasingly frequent news reports, and since she was no longer in school and didn't have any children, did not initially realize that all schools were being shut down. When her mother called begging her to come home before things 'got too crazy', it began to sink in that something Really, Really Bad might be on the horizon. So when the chaos really began, Sabrina was barreling down the highway with hundreds of other cars, until suddenly traffic started getting slower, and slower... and eventually ground to a halt.
spacePinned in by backed up traffic, listening to a growing number of screams and smelling burning gas, Sabrina ended up being really glad that she'd never actually sold her trusty bicycle.
