General Rules
GaiaOnline terms of service, rules and guidelines apply in any and all posts within this guild and within this subforum. If you are found to be in violation of these, you will be removed from the guild for a period. After which, if you would like to rejoin, you may. If you continue to violate these rules, you will be banned. The same applies to the rules and guidelines for the guild. You have been warned.

General Subforum Rules
These are the general rules of the subforums. Each subforum will have it's own set of rules specific to the genre in which it resides. However, the rules of this post are prioritized. Violation of them will result in consequences.
1. Be respectful of all ideas and stories. If the story isn't yours and you're not involved, it's not your business. Unless the writers are in serious violation of the general rules of the guild or the subforum, you do not have the right to judge or insult their work.
2. 18+ is not a suggestion. If your story treads into the realm of sexual interactions, explicit violence, foul language or any other topics that are not appropriate for the underage users of this guild, and you have not stated in your story title that it is 18+, your story thread will be locked and you will get a warning. All stories need to carry an 18+ warning if the chance is even remotely possible of such things occurring.
3. Rape fantasy and physical abuse (in the context of child abuse, spousal abuse, etc.) is NOT allowed. Period. This may be merely writing but this is one area that will not bend. If you try to get around this, you will be banned from the guild.
4. Verbal abuse of your co-writers or other guild members is not allowed. Regardless of age, mental capacity, or gender, if you're smart enough to know what verbal abuse is and that it is not acceptable, you should know not to use it. If you try to use a mental handicap as a means of justification, citing the handicap as the reason, then you are aware it is not acceptable. THINK before you WRITE. It's that simple. Double, triple check. If it's still questionable, don't post it.
5. All of GaiaOnline's terms of service as well as their privacy policy and rules and guidelines apply. Violate them, you will be warned.
6. The Captain (myself) reserves the right to remove or ban any member that has had justifiable complaints brought against them.
a.) If you have more than four (4) conflict resolutions against you, you will receive a PM from me as a warning.
b.)If you disregard these warnings, you will be removed, with the option to rejoin if you can assure the guild that you will follow the rules and guidelines.
c.)If you rejoin and you again violate the rules and guidelines, you will be banned with no option to rejoin.
I will try to limit the number of rules but they will grow as needed. This is a creative, free thought guild that encourages experimentation and cooperation to create a fun writing environment. I do not want to have to enforce rules because of immature or poor behavior.

Character Creation and Play rules
Below is a list of rules in regards to creating a character. That being said, no one is restricted from being as creative with their character as they want. However, no one likes an overpowered character. So please keep these rules in mind when creating your character.
Additionally, you will find rules of playing your character.
1. No omnipotence (all knowing), all powerful, all seeing, all anything characters. No one likes a know it all and that goes for characters too. No one is perfect and flawed characters make them more interesting. That being said, please do not overplay the tragedy of your character either. Though the last bit is just a suggestion (be as tragic as you like, Shakespeare).
2. No auto-hits, auto-hand holding, auto anything. Your character does not have control of any other character's actions unless you have the explicit consent of the other writer.
3. Respect the other characters. Do not belittle someone's character because they probably worked very hard on it. If you do not like an aspect of the character, address it either in character or with the writer to see if it's a personal choice or an indirect result of the writer.
4. When playing, please be sure to give enough time for your other writer to respond. This is especially important when playing with multiple people. Not everyone can reply as quickly.
5. The above being said, please respond promptly to your other writers. It is a matter of respect to their time and effort. If someone does not respond within 3 days of a response, the other writers have the right to move on. This is the 3-day rule and unless the late writer has let them know beforehand, please follow it.

World Creation rules
1. If you're writing in the Fan Fiction subforum, please be aware of the world that already exists. It is perfectly acceptable to create your own space in that world but the rules of that world are still applicable. Don't create harpies if your playing in an Altered Carbon setting.
2. Your world, provided it's not in the Fan Fiction subforum, is quite free for you to create in.
Note: There probably will be more rules created as the guild continues. This is a new guild and will be constantly evolving!
