In all of her life Lori had never been on a date before. At least not one that didn't start or end at bar or some party. She had never been interested in keeping someone around for the long haul. Never could she have imagined finding someone like Daphne, someone she could honestly just be herself around. It was the first time she had truly been pissed off at Landry for scaring someone off like that. If she had only been more honest with Daphne from the start, maybe things wouldn't have ended up like this.

It had been a few weeks now though and at least they were talking through texts and phone calls. Lori wasn't confident enough to see her in person again though, she wanted it to be done right. Her search history in her phone was filled with date night ideas. There had to be something that would allow them to be close, but also allow them to be out in public. She didn't want this new start to be about sharing each others company at night. Eventually she settled on ice skating. She wasn't sure if Daphne had ever done it before, but it seemed like something everyone did at some point. It was something fun to do in a big city like this that had everything.

When Daphne agreed to the night out she was ecstatic. Part of her had thought maybe it was too soon, but realistically it had been weeks. Did Daphne miss her too? She was so nervous she went through her entire wardrobe before settling on something to wear. A cute floral dress, some leggings underneath encase she fell on her butt ice skating, and a light cardigan to keep her warm inside. She also tired her hair up for a change, just to keep it out of the way.

She made sure she was the first one there, arrived a good twenty minutes before they had said they'd meet. Make a good first impression. She was trying and she went into buy them tickets. After that she wait patiently outside, waiting to see that familiar purple hair bob it's way over.

Daphne had been a little apprehensive about agreeing to the date with Lori. She had felt so utterly humiliated after staying with the girl and having her twin be so…snarky. And the realization that she was really nothing better than a simple one night stand…it had been difficult to deal with. She had always looked at her budding relationship with Lori to have been special. It had made her feel special.

And everything had shattered in a moment and she had felt as though she were the biggest fool on the planet.

But she honestly liked Lori. The girl had wormed her way into her life. Into her heart and she couldn’t let everything…just…go to waste. She wanted this.

Needed the friendship.

Daphne had dressed up as much as she could, nice pants that allowed her to move, and a loose, flowing shirt that made her feel like a princess. Her hair was put up in a high ponytail that curled at the ends. It had been hard to wear her trademark pigtails when she didn’t have her partner in crime wearing hers as well…

…It was a childish hairstyle anyway.

She made her way to the ice rink and broke into a warm smile when she saw Lori, hesitating a moment before launching herself at the girl and giving a nice big kiss on the lips. “…Miss me? I missed you.”

It was a better reaction than Lori deserved honestly. After all the accusations that her twin had thrown around and how rude he had been. At most she was expect like a little wave, a little 'How ya been?' or 'You're looking nice today'. Not a hug, not a kiss. She couldn't help but wrap her arms around her friend and kiss her back. Not too passionate, they were in public after all.

"I've missed you so much. I'm sorry I didn't make plans sooner. I'm....new to the whole...dating thing." She talked a bit awkwardly and a little blush appeared on her face. She couldn't really put into words why she didn't like relationship or had never seriously dated anyone before. Somewhere in her life she had just decided it wasn't for her. That it would probably just fail in the end anyway. Yet, here she was. Trying to patch things up with Daphne.

"I went ahead and got our tickets. I'll admit it's been a while since I went ice skating. Still, I think it'll be fun." She really hoped it was fun. She'd like them to enjoys themselves before she seriously talked to Daphne about her past flings and such. That way at least some part of this day would be enjoyable for the both of them.

Daphne relished the returned hug and kiss and for a moment she lingered in the strong arms. “I’m…pretty new to it too, if I’m going to be honest. The last ah. Relationship that I was in…was more like I was just a pawn in a chessboard so.”

She smiled and pulled away, slipping her hand into Lori’s and nodding eagerly. “Then if you bought the tickets, I’ll buy the food, okay? So it’s like a real date.”

It was so funny, just how happily she was reacting to all of this. There was no…real embarrassment when she was round Lori. Except when Landry had been working to instill it in her…but there was no need to prove herself around the girl. No need to try so hard. No need to work so damn hard.

“I haven’t been ice skating in…years. If I fall, don’t laugh okay? I’ll be so sad if you do.” Daphne laughed softly and pecked her cheek. “I’ll help you up if you fall, you know. Always.”

The excuse Daphne gave for being new to relationships, was entirely part of the reason Lori just didn't do them. Or well, had never tried before. There was a delicate balance to relationships that could easily tip one way or the other. It also made more sense as to why Daphne just bailed that morning. She was probably very concerned that Lori was just using her as well.

"Well, I'm no chess master. Promise." If anything, Lori had every intention of letting Daphne be the leader here. The only exception being today, because Lori had to make up for the horrible impression Landry had left of her. "That sounds fair. They have some snacks here, or we can skate for a bit and go out somewhere else later."

It seemed like they were slipping back into their normal way of things very easily. Any nerves Lori had going into this were completely forgotten. She knew they'd come back later when they had a more serious conversation, but at least for now she could push them away and just worry about having fun and trying not to fall on her butt.

"I won't laugh! If anything I'll probably just think ice skating was a stupid idea and blame myself for dragging you out here." Still, she smiled and her friend was just the sweetest person in the world. "Also, you'll probably drag me down with you. Or, the other way seems very likely as well." She took Daphne's hand in her's and led her inside. There wasn't that big of a line for them to be stuck in to borrow skates. Then a bench to change into and before long they were standing at one of the entrances. Thee was a short wall along the perimeter. Something they could hold onto if they needed to. Above them lively music played to keep them all entertained.

"I used to come here all the time for birthday parties as a kid. I wonder if they do relay races for the general public as well That could be fun." She took Daphne's hand again and looked from her, to the ice, and back again.

"Ready?"

Daphne wiggled her toes in the rented skates and nodded, looking out onto the rink with an excited grin. “Yeah. I’m ready. And I don’t think it was a stupid idea, even if we do fall. It was something I had always liked the idea of growing up. Ice Skating was my favorite thing to watch when it was on television.”

She tugged on the hand and then drew it to her lips, kissing it as though Lori were royalty. “Come on, my lovely date…let’s show this ice who’s boss. Or at least pretend to show it who’s boss.”

It wasn’t difficult to get out onto the ice, though balancing on the thin blades was a little tricky, but the ice was slippery, and the purple haired girl clung to her date’s hand. “Oh god. I forgot how this felt…ah.”

Daphne wobbled a lot and reached out, grabbing the wall for support and giving a rueful smile. “…Well heck. I had wanted to just zoom off and impress you and do some great spins and stuff in the middle but… I guess that isn’t going to happen at this point in time. What a pity.”

Again, she tried to move, but couldn’t quite get the handle of lifting a foot to glide off. And shuffling wasn’t working out at all.

Daphne's line earned a chuckle from Lori was she stared out at the ice. This was something she did a lot as a kid, so surely it wouldn't be that hard to pick back up? She was hoping to not make a fool of herself in front of her date, but unfortunately that was exactly what she did.

As soon as she put one foot on the ice is slide out a bit quickly. With her other foot still on the slightly carpeted floor it stay planted and she did a bit of an awkward semi-split before using the hand she held in Daphne's to pull herself back to the wall as well.

"As graceful as ever I'd say." This had not been a good plan. She had terrible balance in heels as it was, let alone thin blade on top of a slippery sheet of ice.

"Hey, you still did better than me, so consider me impressed." She had let go of Daphne's hand at this point so she could pull herself against the wall and get used to the feeling of skates all over again. Why were they so heavy?

Daphne watched and couldn’t help the grin that spread across her face. “Ah Lori. You’d be graceful if you were a potato with legs.” Not that such a thing made any sense what so ever but…Damn. She liked Lori. So much. Spending time with the girl made her heart feel so…alive.

“And, not so much better.” She said laughing finally and clutching the wall with both hands when hers was let go. “We’re both wobbling, look, if we can make it two or three laps around…I’ll be utterly satisfied and if we’re still flopping like fish on land…well then we can give this up as a bad job and just go get our food.”

Idly she reached out and touched the girl’s blonde hair. “…Every moment spent with you is the best. And it doesn’t matter what we’re doing.” It sounded so stupidly sappy but…

She wasn’t going to keep hiding how she felt…Lori was one of the only things that she had. And there was no way in hell she was going to lose her. Not again.

Not for anything.

"Do the laps count if I pull myself along the wall the whole way?" Lori chuckled and managed to let go of the wall for a moment Just long enough so she could move over and place one arm on the other side of Daphne, effectively gluing them both to one spot as she listened to her absolutely lovely friend speak about her. A genuine blush crossed her face, she was used to hearing words like that. But they were usually fake. Which was normally how she liked it. Brief sweet words to go with brief sweet moments.

It was different from Daphne though. She genuinely cared about it. Which, honestly she was only used to her brother caring about her at all. That was what she liked thought, but somehow she was considering something different Curls here. They had bonded in a way she didn't think she would with anyone. And in a surprisingly short amount of time.

Sure, her brother had almost ruined it for a moment. It was time she was more honest with her.

"Listen....Daph. It's true that...I've been a bit of a playgirl in the past. But, I really do like you. I like you a lot. What we're...possibly doing. If you'll have me. If very different from anything I've done before. But, I'd very much like to try my hand at it." Her hand covered Daphne's that held on to the wall and she waited patiently for an answer.

Daphne laughed softly and shrugged. “I mean, I think they count, and that’s the giving it up as a bad job I was saying…”

She fell quiet and hesitated at Lori’s words, but swallowed after a moment and forced a grin, hoping it looked natural and not as strained as she felt, though she supposed if it did look forced she could always blame the fact that her foot was sliding, in spite of being held so close to her friend.

“Like, going on dates and stuff? Lori, if you’re not comfortable, I get it. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable because of me, and I don’t want…you to feel like you have to go out of your way to…I don’t know…force yourself to settle down if you don’t want to? I’m happy with being friends…and if we’re friends with benefits…that…that works for me. If you decide you want to date or something…like, be a real couple, that would be amazing and I would have no issue with it, but…I don’t want you to have to change yourself for me. I like you no matter what, Lori.”

Her foot continued to slide and Daphne gave a little noise of discomfort, trying to press closer to Lori, but finally she ended up with one knee on the ice. “…I’m really…bad at skating. Why is standing still so hard?”

What Daphne was offering would certainly, usually, be what Lori was after from anyone. And even though she swore she'd be okay with whatever she decided to do, well, Lori knew that wouldn't really make her happy. Eventually it would just cause a rift between them.

It had taken a lot of courage from Lori to dive into the idea of a relationship Relationships were messy and could lead to heart break. She didn't want something like that with just anyone. She couldn't have that with just anyone either. But with Daphne, she could honestly see the two of them having a lot of fun together. It was a very big bonus that she was also a Senshi within the Negaverse. She wouldn't ever have to hide her true self from this kind of partner.

So she slide back from the wall, so that Daphne wouldn't have to be uncomfortable anymore and stuck one arm under her friend's in an attempt to pull her back up that honestly failed miserably. She could only laugh as she sat on the slick floor.

"Daphne, let's stop beating around the bush here. I really care about you and that's a first. I usually just care about getting what I want from someone and being done with them. But, you're different. We obviously have something going on here. So...would you please be my exclusive girlfriend?"

Her exclusive girlfriend? Was…Lori really…asking her out? For them to be a real couple? For a moment, Daphne’s brain couldn’t quite process the information, and she nodded slowly, her knee becoming colder and colder as her pants began to dampen. “…You…mean that?”

Her voice was uncertain and for a moment, all of Daphne’s normal bravado and sassiness seemed to just melt away and she looked confused, and more hopeful than she would have liked to admit. “Because, yeah. Lori. I’d love to be your exclusive girlfriend, and really, I don’t mind side jobs…especially at…you know…”

Daphne shrugged. “At work, ‘cause sometimes you have to be flirty to get them to do what you want and if you get them utterly smitten with you well, that’s just a whole hell of a lot of fun, you know?”

It was a struggle to get up, but she finally managed to do so. “…Want to just…go get food and forget trying to be coordinated enough to skate? Because I’m just…I’m not getting any better at this.”

Her heart was pounding though, and a stupid smile was clear on her face.
Girlfriend.

Lori already sort of had an idea that little 'side projects' probably wouldn't scare Daphne away. After their encounter with a certain white-clad Senshi, anything was possible with Daphne. That's why Lori was so tempted and enamored with her. She could be herself one hundred percent around the other girl and somehow things would be fine.

She knew she was potentially setting herself up for some heart-break in the future, but she hoped it would never come to that. Now, if only she could get Landry to like her and vice versa, but that would probably take a lot of time and effort.

"Daphne dear, you know a way into this woman's heart." She somehow managed to push herself back onto her feet. Technically everyone was supposed to stay going in the same direction on the ice, but to heck with that. They hadn't made it all that far anyway.

"Let's just make our way back to the entrance and get out of here already. I need some dinner and a good make out session stat."
