Sylvite was finding that she really liked the Information branch. She liked her cute desk, she liked going out on her little mini-missions to scout out the enemy, and she really, really liked the way the reports she'd made looked in a cute little stack that was all color coded in pastels.

The part she didn't like so much was actually doing the paperwork. She was doing verything she could to make it fun, which was mostly working, and anyway, she knew that it was super, super important so she always did her best, but still. Sometimes a girl just needed a break.

That was why she was quick to pick up a different kind of assignment. She was going to do a check-in and some draining with a newish senshi. It sounded pretty simple and fun, and she always liked getting to know people in the Negaverse.

She'd picked out one of her favorite draining spots, a strip mall that was just busy enough but not too busy in the evenings. She slipped into a nearby alleyway and checked her tablet for updates while she waited for the guy to show up.

Let me know if this works!

It was the first time that Versailles had to report to someone higher up. Of course, he usually kept his General informed of what he did, so he was surprised when he still needed to do a check-up with a Captain. Still, he wasn't nervous. He had done what he was supposed to do, even if he hadn't battled every Order character on sight. He thought he was keeping up with his energy quotas, so he should be good, right?

He eventually made his way to the meeting spot he finally caught her aura and jumped down into the alleyway where he thought that it was coming from. He grunted as he landed, and once again had to move some of his "hair" out of the way. He still wasn't sure if he could count it as "his" since he didn't have hair this long as a civilian. He often wondered why it grew out this way. Was it really a requirement to being a corrupt?

He stood up and walked around for a bit until he saw the figure of who he assumed was the Captain. After all, no normal person would be wearing an outfit like that.

He walked up to her, giving her a wave. "Captain. I hope I'm not late." He tried to sound serious. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to act in front of someone like this. Army-like? Serious and uptight? Scared?

She didn't have to wait super long for him to show up. That was probably a good sign. She felt the aura before she saw him, of course, but then he was coming around the corner and she looked up from her tablet, her face lighting up into a grin in a matter of seconds.

She'd been expecting that he was gonna be at least kinda cool. Like, he was a senshi. Senshi were always awesome. Those hair streaks, though? That wasn't something someone just got from their magic. That was a personal choice, and Sylvite was into it.

"Hi!" Sylvite said, bouncing up onto her toes as snapped the tablet back into pen form and hooked it onto her shorts. "You're fine. You're Versailles, right? I love your vest! It's so fancy!"

Then, she clasped her hands and tried to be a little bit professional in her own right. "So, my name's Sylvite, but Captain's fine, too." It had a nice ring to it, and she enjoyed all the little reminders that she wasn't at the bottom of the ladder anymore. "Nice to meet you!"

Well, that answers that. Versailles thought to himself as the Captain seemed to be jovial in this situation. Still, she was a Captain for a reason, there was no reason to assume that she would be like this the entire time or that she was never serious. "Thank you." He wanted to add that he didn't exactly get to choose what he wore, but he decided against it. She would have known after all!

He nodded his head. "It's nice to meet you too Captain." Well, the small talk had started, but he wondered if there was more to this or if they were going to have a conversation or if she was going to test his skills, etc. It could be any number of things, but he felt as though it would be rude to ask outright. "I'm glad we could meet up so quickly for this meeting." There, that was more neutral.

"Yeah, of course," said Sylvite, just the tiniest bit smug. "I'm trying to get around more to meet with people and stuff."

She didn't linger on that for too long, though, 'cause this meeting wasn't about her, not really. Instead, she stood as tall as she could, which was five feet, but it was the confidence that mattered, and she tried to pretend she was sitting at a desk or something instead of in a gross alley.

A quick moment passed as she looked up at him again. "Okay," she said. "I was thinking we should see how you're doing with the training, starting with the basic basics, so, draining." She reached out to point to the street beyond, wiggling her fingers for a little extra drama.

"But if you wanna do it with some extra flair, Mister Splendor, or show off something else you've picked up, instead, now would be the time."

The whole trying to look like a businessman thing kinda fell apart as she bounced up onto her toes, eyes sparkling. "The Negaverse rewards ambition, y'know. Creativity, too. That can always come later, though."

If he did end up struggling, that was kinda why she was here.

Versailles grinned. He hadn't yet been able to really "show off" in front of anyone else, and to be given the opportunity now was somewhat exciting. He wasn't sure if he could pull off anything amazing, but he would try his best at least. Or he hoped that he would be able to do something that would impress the Captain. "Sounds like a good opportunity then." He replied, looking at where she was pointing, wondering if he could see any potential victims there.

He turned his attention back to her. "I'll do my best, Captain." He said, nodding to her before turning on his heel and heading in the direction that she had pointed in. He knew she just meant it as a flair thing but he decided that this would be a good place to start in. Walking closer, he could see that there were others in the green patch of the city that was past the street, though it was hard to tell exactly with the trees blocking the way.

He turned his head back to the Captain, gave her another nod, before he started to make his way over to them. He was confident for now. No one was here even though the night was warm. And even if someone was, well he could either drain them or let them pass by. It's not as though his uniform was anything too out of the ordinary. And if need be, he could use his hair to cover the crack in his head.

Sylvite's grin only seemed to get bigger as her new trainee seemed pretty enthusiastic about it all. He was still being all formal, but that was okay. She'd noticed that a lot of the stiff, formal types seemed to make it pretty far in the Negaverse. A little boring, but this guy was new. She could let him keep the focus but learn to have some fun with it.

This, she was getting the feeling, was gonna be good.

"Okay, let's get started," she said, and she followed him out of the alleyway.

She let him get a little distance before she showed herself, and she crossed the street instead of staying right next to him. Both of their outfits were a little on the bright side, which she was not complaining about, but if they stayed together they might start getting a little bit more attention. She was still totally watching him, though. She saw how he was just standing there, and decided he might need a little inspiration.

One of the stores here was a fast food restaurant, and she stood by the door here, squinting at the specials until someone came out. She was lucky. The guy was clumsy, maybe even drunk, and he walked right into her.

"Ow!" she said, and she pouted, and he even apologized to her. She grinned as soon as he walked off and flashed her new energy orb at Versailles for just a second before she slipped it into her shorts.

Versailles took another look back towards the captain and she was already flashing an energy orb at him. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, but was very impressed by the Captain. Perhaps he could be that quick when he was the same rank. Still, he needed to drain his own targets a bit, and managed to make it to the park where a couple of people were walking and talking.

He went up behind them and made one of them trip, but caught them before they could fall. They didn't seem to have noticed that he was the one to trip them, apparently air was quite tricky, and after they thanked him for the save and he held onto them a bit longer to make sure that they could walk home, they were off, and he had an energy orb.

It wasn't too big, after all, he couldn't drain nearly as quickly as a Captain could, and he hadn't been holding onto them for long, but it was enough, and he made his way back to the alley where Sylvite was waiting, and produced the energy orb. "I believe this is yours Captain." He said, holding it out to her. After all, he had to turn it in anyway, if she wanted to take it meant that he didn't have to hold onto it anymore.

After just a second of showing off, Sylvite went back to acting casual and headed back over to her alleyway. Subtlety was, after all, kinda the key to the whole thing. She leaned on the wall like people did in the movies while they were waiting, which was maybe more dramatic than subtle once she thought about it, but whatever. She was far enough back in the shadows that people probably wouldn't notice her, and anyway, she felt really cool.

It seemed like Versailles did have some tricks up his own sleeves, too! She didn't have to wait for him long at all. Her eyes went wide at the tripping someone and helping them up. That was really smart. It gave a good excuse to keep up contact for a little longer than just bumping into someone did, too, which was always helpful, and really important for lieutenants, or basic senshi.

She gave the senshi a quiet but very energetic round of applause when he made his way back over to her. "Woah," she said, grinning. "That. Was. Awesome! So smart."

She took the orb from him. "I can turn this in for you." She remembered the days of not being able to get to the castle to turn things in by herself. That had been a struggle. She'd help him out. As she took a nice look at the glowing orb, since she still wasn't over just how pretty energy was, she took a few steps further back, away from any wandering eyes.

"And since you've got that down we can move onto my specialty, Information, y'know, make sure you know everything that you need to." She put the orb away as she pulled her tablet back out instead, where she typed out a quick note before glancing back up. "What do you know about our enemies? The senshi and knights? Their goals?"

Versailles couldn't help but grin. He was glad that he could at least make one of the higher-ups happy. "Thank you for the compliment." He would have to try out other ways too. Tonight was the first time he had thought of it, but it seemed to have impressed the Captain at least. "And thank you for turning that orb in. It would be a lot easier if I could teleport there, but I suppose there's a reason that we can't do it, and all I can do is do my best to get to the next level." At least, that was the way he saw it.

And he could hardly wait. Having at least a bit of teleportation powers would make things so much easier!

"Information is your specialty? That's interesting." He wondered if there were agents that got certain jobs within the Negaverse, he would have to ask about it. Or at the very least look it up before bothering a Captain or General about it with his silly questions.

He nodded at the Captain when she asked her questions. "Yes, and while I hate to admit this, I say this because I want to hear what you say about the matter. I've had a couple of... run-ins with knights," He refused to say that they were talks where nothing happened other than him starting to question his position, "and it seems that they have power that's inherited. Though it seems to be a surprise, these powers, just like it was for us, even though we're recruited." His recruitment was a surprise though. He had suddenly been forcibly turned while on a walk home in the middle of Winter. It's not as if he had heard about the Negaverse and decided that they were the right side to join.

"Seems that they have their own place... somewhere out there in space. Not sure exactly what they were talking about, but apparently we don't have access to them. Or at least, not unless we have some sort of way to travel to other planets and such." And the way the planet was going, they certainly wouldn't ever have a way, but such was things when you were greedy ******** and ruled the world with money. He felt disgusted by such thoughts. One of the reasons he wanted to stay in the Negaverse. He doubted that the Senshi and Knights would be okay with one of their own hurting "innocents".

Knights? Ew. Sylvite's nose wrinkled, but she let him talk, since it was definitely in her interests to know all about the enemies and what they were trying to tell the new recruits. It all seemed to come down to the same lies that they always tried to pull on whoever would listen.

"Space stuff. Right." Sylvite nodded a couple times while she took a quick note, but then she put down the tablet so that she could giver Versailles proper eye contact and stuff.

"So yeah. They are connected to space. It's like, asteroids and stuff for senshi, usually, and then the knights team up to serve the big planets and the senshi princesses from what I've heard." She rolled her shoulders back and crossed her arms. "A long time ago, all those places used to have people living on them, like here. Not anymore, though. They're totally dead. There's not even enough up there to support life anymore. That's why everyone's reincarnating here."

She stopped for a second too see if he was following. "I don't know if you know about the reincarnation stuff? We can get into that, too, if you want, but basically these people destroyed their worlds a long time ago and now they're showing up here. They like to say that it's our fault, somehow." Sylvite full on giggled at the thought of that. "But it's not like we can go up there. We never could. We were here when everything was going down everywhere else, fighting like we are now, and now this is the only place still alive."

She shook her head, and even though she was still grinning, it was a little bit lopsided.

Versailles was a bit... unnerved at all of the grinning that she was doing, but decided to shake it off. It wasn't the first time he had run into someone "not-normal" in the Negaverse. Perhaps he should count himself lucky that he didn't have to regularly interact with the crazies.

He nodded along with her, but some questions still remained. "Excuse me for asking this, I'm merely curious, but even if we Agents weren't able to go up into space, couldn't there be other forces that could? Though if that's not possible either, then I do wonder what happened. Even if all of them did destroy the life on their worlds, one has to wonder what made every single one of them did it. Or perhaps there's an outside force that neither of us know about..." He trailed on when he realized that he was asking too many questions too quickly.

"Sorry Captain Sylvite. I hope you don't take this as me questioning you. But it is very curious." He shook his head. "I'm sorry. Please tell me if this is bothering you and I'll stop. But the knights... got into my head a bit. And I was hoping to get answers from the Negaverse as to why we are in the right. I'm still quite new and was, well, forcibly recruited. I do want to stay with the Negaverse, but I would also like for these questions to stop circulating in my head."

Sylvite didn't smile quite so much as the questions got a little more serious. She sucked her cheeks in as she thought about it. She talked to senshi and knights sometimes, but she usually left if they started getting really mind-gamey, so some of the stuff that Versailles was talking about was stuff that hadn't really crossed her mind.

"Yeah, there's probably other stuff out there," she agreed. "I mean, with all the magic that's just here on this one planet, there's probably even more out there." She raised an eyebrow and wiggled her fingers. "It could be aliens." She giggled just a little at her own joke, then shook her head.

"It's probably the same as all those documentaries, though. It's probably not aliens, just civilizations falling apart and stuff. I mean, as far as I know, senshi get their energy straight from their planets, not from people like we do, so if they ever get power hungry?" Sylvite put her hands on her hips and shook her head. "I guess it's possible that there's some places that survived, too, they're just not the ones with people showing up here."

Then she smiled, a little bit gentler this time. "And just so you know, it's okay to ask questions and stuff. Like, maybe not in the middle of a battle, but we want you to understand where we're coming from, and like, feel supported and everything. "

She was still totally gonna have to list him as a flight risk, though.

Versailles decided to keep quiet for the moment. He wasn't sure if she meant what she had said, but she hadn't really answered any of what he asked, other than saying that there may be more out there and that was it. Perhaps he would have to talk to another? At least he hoped if he asked another he wouldn't get punished for it. He knew that he was taking a risk right now and she probably thought he wasn't loyal. He wanted to be, badly. But he was still neutral to all of this and wanted a reason to stay. He understood that she was most likely reluctant to tell him anything, but it would have still been nice to have the information.

A reason to stay would most likely come later though. He just had to find it. "... Thank you for the reassurance Captain." Was all he could say about it.

"I do hope my... performance was at least adequate tonight. If you need to test me a bit more I would be happy to try and prove myself to you." He wasn't afraid of draining energy and he didn't really care who he drained it from, though he preferred those who were criminals. It always felt as though he was getting a bit of justice done. And at this point he needed to change the subject anyway.

Sylvite nodded, doing her best to smile back. It was hard to tell if people were taking her seriously, sometimes. Mostly she didn't care if people thought she was being ditzy or stupid. Especially with her Negaverse duties, it usually really helped if people didn't think she was a threat. They'd tell her stuff. And like, that had happened today, too, she'd gotten Versailles to talk a bit, she just hoped he'd listen, too. He seemed pretty cool.

She didn't wanna have to kill him if he turned traitor because of some stupid, awful knights.

"Nah, I can tell you know how to drain," was what she said. "You know how to have fun with it, too. I like that. Just-" she paused, just long enough to get everything pulled back up on her tablet. "I'm gonna need the information on those people who got in your head. Names, descriptions, anything else that you picked up from them. Just because they're not on the front lines doesn't mean they're not dangerous, so this is like, more than practice." She was still and serious as she looked at him, in a way that was almost out of place for her. She wasn't trying to be scary, not really, but all of the intensity that she usually spent bouncing around went straight into her stare. "This is stuff that's valuable to the Negaverse."
