Jacob wished he had been able to take a picture of the exact colors that had made up Sidouer’s outfit. The colors had been in his thoughts and in his dreams since meeting her, and finally he had managed to rouse himself enough to go to the craft store, looking over all of the different fabrics that they had. It took some hunting, but he finally found several that really spoke to him, and the creams, the color of that beautiful hair would be the backdrop. He found several shades of pinks, and a few perfect fabrics of the light green that had popped out of parts of the outfit, and with his purchases made, he headed home.

The walk was slow and leisurely, and he thought about the girl again, a little confused as to why. Normally people didn’t stick with him so easily but…There had just been something about Sidouer. Something that had utterly intrigued him.

It was nice. For the first time in a long time, he wasn’t worrying about December, and wasn’t fretting and walking the streets looking for the kid…he was in his craft room and was actually…crafting.

Jacob took another few hours looking through his other fabrics and picking out the last few for this new project. It would be a lap quilt, just something small, something that he could finish rather quickly if he put his mind to it.

Something nice that he could give to her if he ever saw her again.

Quilting was such a relaxing hobby. And it was one that Jacob felt a real, deep sense of pride when his projects were finished, it was so nice to be able to just curl up under a work of art and relax. He liked to make his quilts a little thicker than others, using the thickest polyester batting that he could find. He liked the quilts to be warm, since that was the whole point of having a blanket, wasn’t it?

He was going for a starburst pattern and looked pleased as he began to lay it out, sewing the patches as he hummed to whatever song was playing on the radio. Something peppy that he would have to look up later. It had a nice beat to it. Gently he ran a hand over one of the sewn together patches, enjoying the soft feel of the fabric. Yes, this would make a good quilt indeed…and maybe…he’d be able to make one for December too, so that he’d have a gift to give the boy when he came home.

...Because he had to come home. There was no other outcome. If his brother didn’t return…

He’d just have to go out and find him. Find him and protect him and now he had the ability to do so.

And if Jacob couldn’t do the protecting…he would work to make sure that Alpersite could. And maybe…if he could see her again…Sidouer would help him with it. After all, two pairs of eyes were better than one, weren’t they? He hoped her arm was okay…

And he hoped…that he would see her again. Sooner rather than later.
