The weather was grim, dark clouds overcast the sky and the dim light did little in the darker parts of the forests. Kokuryu was fine with this, but her sister was not and it made her mildly concerned for the almost blind twin that she cared for as much as she did her own life. They were two halves of a whole and it wasn't likely that she'd ever leave her sister's side.

If she were gone then who would care for her? Flaring her nostrils slightly in a snort she shook her head free of such thoughts. She was out here looking for some particular herbs and roots to add to her growing collection, she also needed to find some subjects to test her concoctions on. While she was fine being her own test subject, she'd almost killed herself a time or two and she very much didn't want to die because then what would her work have been for?

One of the main reasons she created these poisons and tonics was to know her own limits but even she was smart enough to know what not to test. Pale eyes peered about cautiously as she sought out some familiar looking leaves. The air was starting to grow cool, perhaps it would rain. Casting her gaze upwards she saw nothing but the canopy of the forest above her, it would keep her dry for the most part so she wasn't worried about getting wet.

Returning her thoughts to more present matters she continued her search.

He didn't know where he was. He almost never did. His family had parted ways, moving everywhere but where he was. And he had been trying to find them. But Parakoto was bad at tracking. After all, when you can't see, it made the chances of locating anything very slim. The wolf-fox tried using his smell, but the rains washed away his mother's and siblings smells. He tried sound, but with the noises of the world clogging everything else, it made it more difficult. He eventually gave up, realizing that he was going to be alone for some time. He would have to learn to survive on his own.

So he did. Parakoto learned the sound of the river and streams; learned to listen to the other animals of the forests to figure out where he needed to go or if a storm or Skinwalker was coming around. He started to memorize plants smells that made him dizzy or nauseous or ill. Anything that would help keep him healthy. It took him time, but he eventually figured out how to live and survive without the family that supplied him safety.

He was wondering the woods on this somewhat cloudy day. He could tell it was cloudy basked off how quiet the animals were. Like they were bracing for a storm. His ears swiveled at the sound of something moving in the distance. A snap of a branch, a shift of some leaves. His hackles raised a moment, before lowering again, as if he was bracing himself for an attack. The long black tail shifted and brushed against the ground, as if trying to feel movement in some way.

As she moved the sounds of another walking along slowly surrounded her sense's, but she remained neutral to the approaching newcomer, their pace was so slow it let her know they weren't charging for an attack. Though....

Raising her head, glowing eyes searched the surrounding fauna for the originator for the sound. They had to be close, but she wasn't spotting anyone in the shad-there! The dark of his pelt was quite the camouflage in this darker part of the forest, though she had quite the same dilemma, being dark and all.

Blinking as a few drops of rain splashed against her face she noticed his hair fell in tumbles across his face, and he wasn't really making much of a motion to remove it from his sight, he also seemed a bit tense. When he made no further movements forward she continued to watch him, taking in ever aspect of him she could see from where she stood. Something was different, yet familiar about him and then it dawned on her. He was doing similar things that her sister did and she wondered if perhaps the same thing ailed him.

"Strange day to be enjoying a walk alone?" Calling the kettle black she was, still she remained where she was, not wanting to move closer in case she was correct about her assumption.

His large paws flexed against the ground, able to feel the tremble of her footsteps distances away from him. Parakoto wasn't certain what they were doing. What anyone out here was doing. As far as he could tell, they could be a predator or someone who wanted nothing to do with him. He let his long tail rest against the ground, feeling for anything getting close; almost like a barrier to those around him. And when he caught her scent on the winds, his ears flipped back against his head.

He waited several moments for the attack, but it never came. The fox-wolf's ears flipped up, curious as he was, and he listened once more. She was breathing calmly, there wasn't any labored sounds. And the smell of blood didn't assault his nose. So perhaps she would be fine to be near him. The sound of her voice made his head tilt, and he huffed out a growl before taking a half step back, as if to put some distance between them. "... I could say the same for you." He muttered in a rough tone, as though he hadn't spoken in weeks.

Remaining where she was, her glowing gaze locked on his dark form, Kokuryu observed him in silence. She was particularly interested his is very busy tail and hair that hid his face from view. What was beneath those billowing locks of darkness. A smirk appeared on her ebony features and she tossed her head slightly as she let a hint of amusement spread into her voice. "True, but I live in this area. You, however, I've never seen you before." Koku was VERY familiar with the faces that roamed the lands her and her twin called home.

Taking a step or two closer she flicked her ears forward, focusing on him. "Are you just passing through?" Maybe he had gotten lost at some point and had just magically wound up in her area. Curious to know more she waited to hear what he said.
