Prism Shine

The day was winding down. All the chores were done, dinner had been fantastic. Nala had noticed some flaky patches on Vine's hide during the day. After dinner she'd taken the firelizard to the baths and gotten her a good scrub. With a bottle of oil, the girl and green lizard settled down at a table tucked out of the way.

Vine enjoyed these sessions and was making little cheeping noises as she watched her girl. Nala put a couple drops of oil onto her hands and carefully rubbed her hands together. "Sit there." She gestured in front of herself, and waited as the green complied obediently. The teen started with Vine's nose and head, and worked her way down the sinuous neck. "I can't have you patchy. They might think I'm not a good candidate."

The delicately marked green crooned with delight, her eyes closed. Nala smiled sweetly and worked her hands to coat oil down her back. She always thought Vine looked best right after an oiling. Her markings so much more prominent.
