It was getting better, easier, to sleep at night but that was mostly because he was going out more often. He didn’t like it, he was a rather lazy and sleepy sort of person, but going out at night to grab energy served to tire him out so he could sleep properly. He still had some bad dreams but he was, more often, sleeping the night through and that was a much needed thing. He needed all the sleep he could get, he had finals coming up fast, and that was of course why he was out tonight.
He had already finished gathering some energy from a small gathering of people outside of a cafe, they hadn’t even noticed the wraiths or him, and now he was wandering a bit. Bundled up in a nice warm coat he was keeping himself as warm as he could as he glanced about the city. Certain parts, like where he was now, were devoid of people walking around. People in their homes sleeping, or whatever else, and not out and about. This was a slightly more residential area with some small shops here and there - all of which were closed. It was an artsy area with little galleries, nothing too big and fancy, it was nice.

He was cold, it was late, the food he scrounged up sucked, there wasn’t anything good on tv since it was the strange time where all the shows are on ‘break’, just about everything about the night stunk. Man, he wished he could have gotten his paws on some fish but apparently ‘cats aren't allowed in restaurants’ or some such nonsense. That's just catsist… what's wrong with cats? He was just as civilized as everyone else! For goodness sake, there were two kids there who were making a real mess… he was better then them at least!
The giant savannah cat sighed as he dejectedly made his way through the dark streets of Destiny City at night. He didn’t see the occasional double take or murmur, he really didn’t care about the one person who pulled out a phone to report a wild animal on the loose. He didn’t perk up until one of the city’s myriad night dwellers raced right under his nose and across the street. “Rat!” Golden eyes tracked the fat b*****d even as the guardian cat sprang after it. A good chase always made him happy… as long as he wasn’t the one being chased at least.
He followed the rodent for quite some time until it was able to shake him off in some little backwater type street. Where it was empty of humanity, the houses were dark, the shops were closed, and he, the guardian cat extraordinaire, was seriously lost. “Where is a uber when you need one.”

He’d dealt with, and sensed, many different powered individuals but the one aura he rarely ever felt was a guardian cat. He’d sensed them, of course he had, but it was a rare occurrence. So when he felt one, distinctly order, he headed off to find the owner of the aura. Cats were good...well at least he hoped they were. He hadn’t dealt with one from the other side before and was a bit nervous to be honest, he was just hoping they’d be as nice as the chaos one he’d met before.
The cat, when he found them, seemed a bit lost. That wasn’t the only thing he noticed though, and really it was impossible not to notice, the cat was large. This one was much larger than a normal cat. “Are you lost?” Approaching slowly, his hands coming out of his pockets, as he made his way over slowly.
“You don’t seem to be familiar with this area.” Not that he really was but he certainly moved around the city easier than the cat did and he could get to roof top level faster, and easier, to get moving across the city quicker and find an area he knew better.

“Yeah, I have no clue where this is,” the cat muttered in response to the question before he realized what he just did. “I ment,” he covered his mouth with his paw before saying, “Meow! Meow, meow, meow?” He glanced over at the human who had walked up to him, doing his best to look like a normal cat, but his form slumped when he realized it was a senshi who had called out to him. “Oh good, I can talk then. Its so annoying dealing with civilians when you cant talk and all you can do is meow.”
The large cat stretched and muttered, “it’s annoying as hell when you have lots of questions but can't ask any of them,” before turning his attention to the eternal who was standing there. “Oh hey! Love the wings and all the dangly bits. Uniform is a little dark but hey, I don’t design them so,” he shrugged and wandered closer. “Do you wings work? Can you fly with them? I met a guy who had bigger wings once, he didn’t answer my questions sadly but its ok since we were able to go to the negaverse shortly later. I attacked a dragon and it was really cool!” His questions started out simply but quickly derailed, he bounced around more as he rambled on. “It was really cool! Were you there? Did you see the big dragon? It was a huge dragon and I used a general as a launching board to reach it! So cool man! I would love to do it again! Want to see? I can find a tree or something to show you what I mean!” His questions bounced around almost as much as the cat himself.

“It’s alright, I’m here and I can help.” So far the cat hadn’t said anything about him not being a normal senshi, they also weren’t aggressive in anyway. Not that he really knew what to expect from a cat who worked for, and served, the other side. He just assumed they’d be like some of their senshi were...although everyone was different and he supposed that applied to their cats as well. It really was unfair to assume something about another's personality ahead of time.
The cat soon had launched into so many words, so much information, that it was rather hard to keep up with. Pulling his coat tight about himself, and zipping it up, he shook his head slowly. “I wasn’t there...in fact I’m rather clueless...and my wings...they don’t work.” Sadly, it would be nice if they did move and work, though they certainly weren’t large enough to lift his weight, they also weren’t placed properly for it either. He’d just land right on his a**.
“A dragon…” A dragon...a youma? He had to be talking about a youma but why would a cat try and get onto the back of a dragon - that was dangerous. Shaking his head he bent down and held open his arms for the cat. “No, you don’t need to show me. How about we find where we are and find where you want to be? We can talk along the way. I’m Kiuchi by the way...and it’s a pleasure to meet you tonight.” It was also good that he was here so he could help the lost cat.

“Aww that's unfortunate,” Mel’s tail dropped a bit when the senshi said his wings didn’t work but even that little bit of melancholy didn’t last since he immediately bounced to another mental topic. “Yup a dragon it went roar and spit fire and everything! It was so cool!” He danced around the dark clothed senshi and continued to babble.
“Ok that's cool, there isn’t a good person or a tree to launch off of anyway. I’m Mel… Mlinzi but everyone just calls me Mel. I’ll also answer to Ze or Lin or Linze, oh, oh, oh also ‘hey you’ and ‘motormouth’ or if you want to make something up I’ll also answer to that too. I’m not too picky.” He shrugged and hopped into the offered arms. The large cat peaked over the senshi’s shoulder and made a few comments. “You’ve got a lot of cloth hanging off of you. Do you ever get stuck in things? What happens when that happens? What happens if you take off the fluttery stuff? Does it come back? Can I play with it? Where are we going? I’m not to heavy am I? Can we stop for food? I would die for some fish right now. Do you know of a place that's open that has fish? Ooooh there is a 7-11 near where I live that has pretty good tuna fish sandwiches. I tend to find them in their dumpsters since the last time I snuck in they chased me out. Have you ever been chased out of a 7-11?” His train of thought kept getting derailed and bounced from topic to topic.
The poor senshi was probably wishing he never spotted the cat.

Listening to the cat ramble the senshi of gorgon’s shook his head with a smile, the cat was rather endearing despite or rather because of his running one sided conversation. The cat certainly had a personality, it was strong, and Kiuchi listened as the cat rambled. He let the cat finish before he spoke, not wanting to be rude of offensive.
“Kiuchi - you can call me Kiuchi...and yes. I’ve had my uniform become stuck and tangled in things...it can take some time to untangle it, it would not be good in a fight. I don't like to get into fights though.” He didn’t like to hurt people but he had learned, over time, that sometimes he needed to strike at others and needed to use his magic. He couldn’t just let someone try and kill him...he had too many people who cared for him - he couldn’t leave them! He was also fairly certain if somehow he died his father would find out, he didn’t know how but he was sure of it, and his father would come to Destiny City and he didn’t like that idea. He did want to see his father, in person, though. He was just nervous - so very nervous.
“It comes back when I power up again...like it does for everyone I assume.” Since he could be wrong, he knew what happened for himself but not with others. He had no reason or way to know about others and if removing parts of their uniform came back or what happened. He assumed it was all the same though, that made sense.
“You aren’t too heavy so don’t worry. I’ve gotten stronger since powering up. You’re weight isn’t an issue...and how about we get some food then...I just will have to ask that you not watch when I need to power down in order to get you food. It’s not that I don’t trust you...I just...I just want to keep people from knowing who I am.” Plus this cat liked to talk - a lot and he didn’t trust that they may not point him out, when he was a civilian, to someone. He didn’t think this cat would do it on purpose...but it would happen anyway.
“You don’t mind Chinese food...do you?” He questioned, leaning down to press his face to the top of the cats head, right between his ears. “I like Chinese food very much and I know a few places open tonight. They should be closing soon...very soon. I can get there fast enough though…” At least he thought he could..he hoped he could. He didn’t like the idea of 7-11 food or dumpster diving for a cat. It was gross and wrong...and not what a guardian cat deserved, no matter what side they served.

“Hey nice to meet you Kiuchi,” he was going ramble on like he had been before but the comment about chinese food just stopped that in its tracks. “YES! Chinese Food! Shrimp fried rice, sushi, sashimi, shrimp in general is good but tuna is the best! Go! Go! Go! Got to get there before the food is gone!” He tapped the senshi on the arm before pointing into the darkness. The concept of food had him focusing only on that. “Eggrolls, fried rice, mei fun, general tso's chicken! Yum!”
Quote:
Staring at the cat for a moment he shook his head. “Some of that isn’t Chinese food...it’s Japanese. Your talking sushi and Chinese food…” And he was a bit all over the place really, though the theme was certainly seafood and shrimp in particular. “I was thinking real Chinese food, you’ll get your shrimp and seafood, but maybe not all of what you think….” Unless the cat really did want the other Chinese food, the Americanized version of what he was used to. Even when his mother had stopped cooking Chinese food, and ordering it, he knew what real Chinese food was and he did start to go and eat on his own. He really hadn’t had the Americanized but he saw the difference.
“Do you want Chinese or sushi? That’s japanese...so we’d have to go somewhere else for that.” Which he, of course, didn’t mind doing. He just wanted to know for sure what the kitty wanted for food. He was willing to go to either sort of place to indulge the guardian cat. They were nice and he didn’t know many cats, this was the first order serving cat he’d met in fact. He didn’t even mind an Americanized place if it pleased the cat who was tapping at him and pointing for him to get moving - which he did do.

Mel looked at the senshi quizzically. He hadn’t realized that there was a difference between seafood but then again he was a cat not a human. “I want fish please,” manners were important after all. “Whichever place is closer, still open, and has fish. Fish is yummy! It’s the best thing in the world. Crab and Lobster, Tuna and Salmon, Shrimp and… um… Shrimp! Mahi-mahi. That's fun to say! Mahi-mahi, mahi-mahi-” The cat started to hum along to his own little song, more like a chant since he was just repeating mahi-mahi over and over again. He can get fixated on the strangest things.
“Oh! Do you like fish? What's your favorite type? I would have to say my favorite is a lightly seared tuna fillet with just a touch of garlic butter and a squeeze of lemon over it all. Its sooooooo goooood!” The large guardian licked his lips just thinking about the tuna. Visions of fish and seafood dancing in his head even as they continued to move.

This cat was strange but not in a bad way - certainly not. This cat had a lot of energy and a good personality, it was cute. Pressing his nose into the cats fur he headed them off towards one of the places he knew had seafood. “I do, I like seafood a lot. I like a lot of different things with fish and shellfish in it. That sounds good, what you like, but I’ve never had that.” And he sort of figured the cat had never had seafood like some of what he’d had either. Difference in culture and foods being what they were. He would, for the sake of the cat, refrain from any spicy or hot foods and get something nicer, more mild, but it would be something he liked also.
“Time to hurry and get some food.” Picking up the pace he got them up to roof top level easily enough and headed for Chinatown and the food he knew there, food which was familiar to him and comforting. “I hope you like what I’ll get.” He really did...because he was trying here and he didn’t want to upset the cat. He wanted to please them and give them something they’d enjoy.
“I hope you like what we get tonight.”

“Oh it's really good but then again any fish is good,” Mel nodded like he was the authority on all things seafood related when in reality he was lucky if he could beg some tuna from a human. Although in all fairness he had gotten some special treats here and there, they just weren’t as often as the cat would prefer… which would be always. “Yes! Time to hurry. Anything is good but fish is best!” He was surprisingly easy to please, which Kiuchi would soon learn. That and he had a bit of a bottomless pit when it came to his belly.
Quote:
When they did arrive, luckily before the place closed, he was able to settle the kitty up on the roof top before making his way down to a safe place to power down so he could go inside and order some food. He kept things mild in flavor, while still being flavorful, and took a seat to wait. The dishes were all seafood, wanting to give the cat as many options as possible, it took time for the food to be prepared but when it was brought out in bags, inside a box, he hurried himself outside so he could power up and get back to roof top level and, hopefully, the waiting cat.
“Sorry about how long it took….they had to cook everything.” And they could eat up here, it would be nice, as he sat himself down and went to unloading the bag of its many containers. “I hope you’re hungry.”

The wait was BORING…. But Mel kept himself amused for the most part by just playing around on the roof he had been asked to wait on. After what felt like an eternity Kiuchi was back with a whole box of yummy smelling food! “Yay!” The giant cat bounded over and before the human could do more then start unloading things, Mel stuck his face into one of the semi open cartons. He surfaced a few moments later, licking his lips and trying to get a bit of sauce off his whiskers. “Yummmmm! That’s really good!” He glanced up at his new bestest friend and thanked him with all his heart. “It’s so good, thank you so much! Dig in!” And just like that he was back into the food, wolfing down as much as he could get his paws on.

Laughing the dark mirror senshi sat on the rooftop watching the cat. This was precious to watch - adorable! While it might gross some people out, and it might later when he thought about it, it was cute to see the cat so happy and just stuffing his face into the food. He’d have to get cleaned up later...but how and where? He hoped the cat had someone...an owner, or maybe companion was a better term to use? This wasn’t just a normal pet cat after all. So using the term owner would be insulting - right?
“I’m glad you like it - eat as much as you like.” And he meant it. He wanted the cat to be happy and full. Reaching for some food himself he settled for eating as well. This was a nice encounter...maybe not all on the other side were bad and out to get him. At least maybe not their felines. That was good.
Smiling at the cat he would, one they were done eating, toss away the garbage and head himself home to sleep.
