Venturing alone in the Redwoods was not the best idea, but he was curious and he wanted to see if there were others close by. He left his brother behind for the time being as a means to find a better home for the both of them. They didn't rely on others and only on each other ever since they were little pups. It was a long road and they had discussed numerous times about finding a stable place to call home. Living like nomads all the time was not a good idea and it was just the two of them. They could easily get wiped out if they ran into another pack or even a bear. There had been many times where they had to take the low road and run just so that they could live another day.

Visage did not like to run. He liked standing his ground, but he knew when it wasn't a good idea and when it was. He followed the run down looking path feeling like this was there only hope of survival and he really hoped he could find something or someone that wasn't going to harm him. He didn't remember much of his past. He didn't remember his mother or his father. A part of him felt like it was something he was trying to block out for their negligence, but another part of him felt like he didn't have enough fond memories of them to remember.

He lifted his head up and sniffed the air feeling like something was approaching. Good or bad he didn't know that one.

I HOPE THAT IS OKAY ;o; I'm so bad at starters.

Crunch crunch crunch. And nothing. Then, crunch crunch crunch crunch. Nothing again. Now, other wolves might be more considerate of the dangers that could be lurking in the Redwoods and take a little more care to how they traveled the cold and decayed terrain. But Kindle had never feared the Redwoods. Quite the opposite, unfortunately. She just pranced right on through, ears alert and tail erect. Above, her faithful companion soared lazily on the wind, keeping a lookout for anything of interest.

Wind Dancer spotted something interesting alright. He swooped down to twirl about Kindle's face, making her stop her crunching steps through the brush. Just as quickly as he'd twirled about, the crow was back in the air, heading in a new direction.

Eyes sparkling with curiosity, Kindle padded along beneath her feathery friend, glancing up at him a few times to be sure she was headed the right way. And then she caught its scent. Familiar in only the way a fellow wolves scent was. Also one she was starting to become more familiar with distinguishing in the Redwoods. With a little leap of excitement, she arrowed right towards the other wolf.

"HELLO!" She gleefully called. "How are you? Have you found anything interesting?" Kindle only barely remembered that 'personal space' was a thing and managed to stop a wolf length away.

Visage was not use to strangers being so friendly so when the female came bursting out of nowhere he nearly jumped out of his skin and that was a feat in itself. He heard her words, but he was more concerned with how close she had gotten in such a short amount of time. "Hi.." He said in a monotone voice. He wasn't as excited as her or 'peppy' is what his brother would call it. She was friendly though and he wasn't really expecting that since he was by himself. It made him a target and it was nice to meet someone that wasn't going to maul him to death. "I'm fine..traveling and seeing if there is anything of value around here." He wasn't a thief even if it sounded that way. "No I haven't...unless you count? Then I guess your interesting." He said and wasn't being smart, he was being honest. She was the first wolf that hadn't tried to kill him and wanted to know about his day. That was a good thing in his mind.

"Sorry I'm a little bit horrible at manners...My name is Visage..what is yours?" He was horrible at being friendly, but he was trying. When you constantly had to be cautious there was no room for error. She didn't seem like a threat so he was letting his guard down a little bit. "I actually am looking for a pack to join..somewhere..me and my brother can feel welcome. We also would like it to be our home. It's not very easy for us living the way we are living." He didn't want to be so forthcoming with her, but he was a little desperate. He worried about his brother Echo and really wanted him to be safe about all else. "Is there anything like that around here?" He asked wondering if he made a grave error.

One of these days, she probably was going to startle the wits out of the wrong wolf. And then she'd really have a story to tell her pack! Assuming she was swift enough to avoid being on the receiving end of another wolves teeth.

Fortunately, her luck was still holding. This wolf didn't try to n** her in the rump for surprising him. But she could tell she may have been a little too forward. Which did nothing to calm her down. Really, it just made her more gleeful. And the evident spark to her eyes hinted at the good humor.

"Oooooh, this is a good place to seek out valuable things." She nodded sagely, tail wagging. "But they are tricky to find. The Redwoods like to hide her secrets." Kindle laughed, looking around at the trees that were so much different from the ones around her home in Bluestone....OHWAIT! He thought she was interesting?! Now Kindle gave a good old wolfy laugh.

"Me?! Oh yes, I am very interesting!" Something that sounded suspiciously like a crow equivalent of a snort drew her attention up. "I'm totally interesting! I always have fun stories to share! And who else plays in the Redwoods as much as I do?"

Blinking big blue eyes, Kindle realized she was being just as rude. "Oh by the Moon, I'm so sorry! I am being just as rude. My name is Kindle. It's so nice to meet you, Visage. Oh you have a brother too? Wait a pack?" Now poor Visage had done it. Kindle could barely keep her excitement in line, feet shifting and her whole body wiggling. "OH OH I KNOW A PACK! You should come to my pack! Ha ha ha. You're looking in the Redwoods?! This is not good pack territory. No, you must come towards the mountains with me! Oooh Two Tone would be so happy to meet you."

She was still laughing as her paws danced in place, head glancing up towards the sky and then back over her shoulder before focusing on Visage. "There is nothing much in the Redwoods today, except you. You should come meet my alpha. See our home. It is very nice. Not like the dead things here."

Visage raised his brow from her words because he honestly had no idea what she was talking about. Who was this being she was referring to? What were these secrets she was referring to? "Secrets..? Who is she?" Was the first thing he asked and was a little afraid of the answer. Being someone who kept to himself and his brother most of the time so anything beyond that and he was clueless. "Stories? What kind of stories?" With the excitement that was brimming in the females eyes he felt like he made the biggest mistake ever. There was just something about her happy nature that made him question the kind of life he was living. He had never been that happy before. He had never once found himself as ecstatic as she is.

Then as if she couldn't become any happier when she started mentioning the pack and someone named Two Tone it was if her eyes lit up even more. "Wait..Kindle.." He paused trying to get a word in edge wise, but it wasn't as easy as it sounded. She rambled and rambled, which was okay if he liked talking just as much. "There is a pack in the mountains?" He was very curious now about this pack and what it had to offer. Maybe there was something of value there and for once he felt like it was good that he had run into her.

He thought long and hard if he should go up there with her. He was leaving his brother alone for a longer amount of time then he would have liked. "Okay..we will go..and if I decide to join I need to come back to get my brother." He said with a firm nod as he started to follow her. He was a little nervous that it was going to take a long time or that Two Tone wasn't going to like him at all. "But yes..I have a brother..we kind of look out for each other..have been all of our life." He said trying to at least keep things interesting even though he went quiet like two seconds after before opening his mouth to speak once more.

"Your a little strange...but..in a good way." He wasn't being his good old honest self and hopefully it didn't cause him more harm then good.

While she may have had the unfortunate ability to chatter your ears off, she also possessed the ability to multitask and keep up with the conversation. So in the midst of spouting out all her positive and joyful words about her pack, barely giving Visage the chance to speak, she did hear his questions.

Panting a little to catch her breath, Kindle took a little pity on the wolf and waited a full minute before she was at it again. "Oh you know, the secrets that are rumored to be hidden in the Redwoods? I think of them as a 'she'. I don't know why, it just felt right. But she is a tricky wood to navigate and I love exploring them to see what I can find. You know, there is that one rumor, about how Stonehenge is hidden here?" A pause. "Or maybe it was hidden here?" Her brow furrowed as she tried to remember.

"But anyways. So far, every time I've come exploring in here for longer periods, I DO find things! Like Wind Dancer." She indicated the crow, who decided this wolf wasn't going to harm them and gracefully landed along Kindle's back.

"She is correct. I was found here." He replied in a much more calm and collected voice. "And there was that other wolf you found..." There was a spark of humor in the crow's eyes and there was a brief moment that Kindle almost seemed to blush? Be embarrassed?!

The shewolf managed to snap her jaws shut and stare innocently at Visage. She was quiet for two heart beats. "Of course there is a pack in the mountains! That is a most reasonable location. Oh, I'm sure there are other packs in the forest as well. But I haven't seen them yet. My pack travels between the mountains and the edge of the forest."

And then poor Visage really went and did it. Kindle leaped up in the air with that joyful energy, landing on surprisingly light paws and dancing in place before getting uncomfortably close to the male wolf and circling around him once. "I am so excited to show you my home and my family! So much nicer than here. I am still surprised you thought to look for a pack in the wastelands this area has become. But that's okay! You found me and I can show you the best pack! Well, they are the best to me. We are a family. They will love you. And your brother. Ooooh I can't wait to meet him! That's so sweet of you to watch out for one another. Kind of like Wind Dancer watches out for me."

There was some eye rolling from said avian, who had been dislodged with a caw at his wolf's jump. Wind Dancer circled around the two wolves twice before soaring up into the sky, looking very much like the dancer he could be. Then he awaited the two wolves before resuming his role of navigator.

"Come! We will make good time if we start now. If you tire, let me know." Kindle let her blue eyes flick upwards towards her crow, before moving at a slow pace to begin with, making sure Visage was coming before she picked up a nice ground eating trot. Hopefully her new friend could keep up!

"Strange! I haven't been called that yet! I have been called a few things here and there, but never strange!" She giggled. "Strange. Just like you, my stranger wolf friend."

He definitely felt like this was a bad idea, but however there was something calming about her even with her energetic personality and happy demeanor. He listened attentively to everything she was saying making sure he didn't miss a beat because if he did he was sure he would hear it from her in one way or another. "I don't know about those secrets..This is actually my first time venturing this far.." He felt like he was in a foreign land. He kept to himself with his brother in a small grove just a little away from the Redwoods. "Really? So she has a lot of secrets and it's easy to get lost here..I don't really know why, but I think a lot of those are rumors and not true." He was the type that like seeing rather then just believing something based on rumors. Anyone could start a rumor. "But that would be a very interesting adventure to go on..just to see what is out there and if you could find out of some of those rumors are true." He said with a nod before hearing her mention the crow and watched as it perched on the female's back.

He didn't have a companion, though he did think of having a crow himself. "It's interesting that she found you and didn't try eating you..unless you did?" He knew that crows didn't possess much sustenance as far as food goes. But there were many of times when he had to settle for the occasional bird just for a snack to hold him over. Then he heard her mention the pack, which caught his attention even more. It was the whole reason he was out there. To find a place he could stay and call his own. To really grow and become part of something bigger.

He watched her circle him and happily prance around finding amusement in the things she did even if he didn't really show it outwardly. "The mountains seem like a good place to have a pack..probably good hunting grounds too." He nodded listening to her ramble on about her home and family. "I didn't really have many choices..We weren't going to join a pack, but I kept telling him we need to if we want to survive. It's not easy for just the two of us." He said not knowing how to put it other then that. "Yes I try to..we are around the same age..It's nice that you have someone to look out for you. Maybe one day I will have a companion like you do." He was a little doubtful with that since he didn't get along with just anyone. Though he did find it strange he got along well with her.

He gave her a firm nod and followed closely watching her pick up her pace. He wasn't use to very long travel, but he would hold out if he had to if it was the only way to survive. "I won't tire until we get there." He told her as he trotted behind her. The faster they got there, the sooner he would know if it was a good place to live.

Ah, so he wasn't as strong a believer as herself or even Ghostwise. That wasn't a huge surprise to the shewolf. Really, she'd be more surprised finding someone that was as enthusiastic as she was about it all. So at least Visage didn't get any sermons on why he should believe in all things Redwoods. Instead, he got a snort of laughter. "Not everyone does. I don't even know about all the secrets. Except that I really believe they do exist. Otherwise, where would all the rumors and legends come from that we've been told? Maybe there really is a secret pack living out here that spread the rumors so they didn't have to deal with outsiders. Or maybe it's monsters." Only a couple theories really.

Kindle wagged her tail at Visage. "It is quite fun going out on such adventures! You would probably enjoy them too. It's nice seeking out such things and keeping your mind fresh. Or filling it even more with interesting things!"

"Or silly ones." The crow chortled, having flown down lower to eavesdrop on the conversation.

"Or silly ones. Like silly birds that follow strange wolves out of the woods." Kindle shot right back, playfully snapping her teeth at her companion, shaking her head to answer Visage for Wind Dancer - who was still laughing. "No, I didn't try to eat him. Truthfully, I didn't realize he was following me at first until I began to head back towards the pack. That's when I noticed him up high, slowly getting closer until I was just used to him being there." She managed a canine equivalent of a shrug.

"The mountains are wonderful! I haven't tried exploring them as much as I should. That should probably be my next project. There are all those caves that you can sniff out if you're determined.... I'm sorry you and your brother didn't have anyone. But you'll have us now! We can be your family. We are the best family. And it's quite nice having a pack that migrates from one location to another. I'd get so anxious being confined to one spot." But, as Visage had said before, she was a strange wolf indeed.

"Oh oh oh! Yes! You totally could find a companion! Maybe we should stay in the Redwoods a little longer. You know, my friend and I both found our friends there. Maybe we could find one for you too!" Her pace began to slow, thoughts racing around in her head. Thankfully for Visage, she had a navigator with more common sense about him. Wind Dancer swept down to tug at her ear in the proper direction. Shaking her head, she was back on track. For now.

It was actually kind of strange, in a good way, having someone other than her crow companion to travel with. She never really had other wolves venture out this far with her. "We might have to rest at least once, maybe twice, before we reach home. But I have traveled this path many times and it is a good path." That was totally encouraging, right? Poor Visage was probably in for a long journey.

He had to admit that going out today had led him to find the most interesting female he had ever come across before and that was definitely something worth praising. She had definitely opened his eyes a little bit more then they were already and she had him thinking about long term possibilities within a pack as well as finding out the secrets of the Redwoods one day. He was adventurous to an extent, but he was more realistic with most things and didn't fully believe there was anything going on in the Redwoods other then rumors. Either way, he followed closely behind her and listened to everything the female was saying. He didn't have much to say and it was a little hard for him to run while talking. He was so out of shape and being lazy with his brother didn't help in the long run.

"We will have to meet up again and have an adventure." He said to her trying to get a moment in before he was winded again. He knew this was only the beginning of his new life. The new him and he was okay with that. He was ready for something other then simply living and it was about time it happened in his life. He didn't know how his brother would react or if it was going to be something he would be excited about. Either way he wanted to do this not only for them, but for himself as well.

Thankfully for the poor wolf that had run in to Kindle this day, she was graced with a more sensible side. With two wings and an uncanny ability to read the wind as well as never seeming to get lost. So, as the fiery colored female babbled on about possibly staying in the Redwood longer, Wind Dancer gracefully flew about her head a couple times and tugged an ear here or there until the female huffed and playfully snapped her jaws at the raven.

"Fine, fine! Home we go. I can always venture back out here with Ghostwise." She teased the raven, ears moving around to pick up the words Visage spoke.

Glancing back over her shoulder, the scout grinned and slowed her pace down. But only just a little. "Oh yes! I would greatly enjoy that. And maybe your brother could even join us next time.

Laughing, the female continued to lead the way, faithful raven in the air above the two wolves, new friend close behind. Maybe this time, the Redwoods would gift her with a new pack member!
