Adria tried to tell himself that there wasn't really much to fear when it was just a youma that he was dealing with. He'd seen plenty--and, very rarely, did they give him enough trouble to warrant the fear he'd had for them. He tried to tell himself he was getting better, that he was having less nightmares about their hideous form, but the truth was that they'd only gotten worse.
Not even because of what they were, or what they could do--simply because he had an overactive imagination and that, coupled with rising anxiety, wasn't leading into a very pleasant sleep schedule.
He'd been chasing one across the park; it was no more than the size of a soccer ball but scuttled rapidly. It looked like a hermit crab, though it left a slick goo behind it. Twice he'd lost sight of the trail and nearly slipped in it. It hadn't escaped his notice that the grass it touched seemed to wither.
Even if it wasn't hunting people, it was dangerous. He wanted it gone.
...Only, its idea of 'gone' and his were two very different things, and he'd lost it somewhere in the park. Where it could be running loose, hurting anyone.
He'd been so focused on chasing it that he had pushed the thought that there were other energy signatures in the area until a cold shiver ran down his spine and he realized he was all but on top of one of them.
His posture shifted immediately; he went from stooped over, trying to peer into bushes, to rigid and upright. He looked around quickly, clearly trying to identify where this energy signature was, even as he began to slowly back himself out of the area.

Carminite minded his own business whenever he was out trying to meet his quota. He skirted Order signatures and typically just ignored youma, though tonight...he hadn't seen either of them coming. Well, he sensed the Order signature and was about to head in the opposite direction when he heard the rustle of grass and some kind of freakish scuttling...and he took a step, slipped, and fell flat on his back.
The scuttling stopped, as did the movement of the Order signature, but for the lieutenant the sudden impact knocked the wind out of him, which was rightfully replaced by a quiet rage.
He sat up and glanced around, eyes landing immediately on the youma just a few feet away, frozen in its place. Perhaps it recognized him as an officer of the Negaverse and the mistake it had made by accidentally passing him by with its nasty goo, maybe it wasn't cognizant enough of any of that, but nevertheless it stood still long enough for Carminite to stand up, stomp over, and promptly kick the thing as hard as he could manage.
Hard enough to dust it, curiously enough, and he spat at its remains.
"Why in the hell are these things so ********' gross sometimes," he grumbled as he wiped his foot on the grass. His irritation grew, though, and this time he stomped toward the retreating Order signature.Kyuseisha no Hikari Will edit if he's not actually allowed to dust youma. XD;

Adria felt a cold shiver down his spine at the voice but he tried his best to steel himself for any sort of attack, any sort of issue. The energy signature got closer but he had to rationalize that it was a lieutenant, not a captain. He probably couldn't even teleport yet. Maybe.
Hopefully.
He could outrun someone that couldn't teleport.

The voice in the back of his head told him that if he presented with enough bravado, enough calm, he could be like his brother. Just off putting enough not to be worth someone's time to harass, with just enough confidence to make you think it wasn't a bluff. To make you question how much skill he was hiding behind a cocky grin.
Of course, Adria wasn't anything like his brother. The thought of trying to seem like a jerk just to get someone to leave him alone sent a shiver down his spine and he resigned himself to just muddling through this as best he could.
"They weren't yours?" he prompted in response, turning to face the voice. His hands were clenched into fists at his side and his brows remained knit but he hoped his face was mask enough to hide the knot in his stomach and his pounding heart.
