They'd been dating nearly two years, and Onyx couldn't remember a time he'd been happier. Ardal liked the finer things in life, so Onyx had made reservations at a very classy, wine and dine restaurant. Ok, maybe he was a little bit of a traditionalist, but what he wanted to ask Ardal, he figured he should ask in a fancy and romantic setting. The small cherub would probably enjoy it. At least... Onyx hoped so. He even dressed to the nines, wearing a black pinstripe suit and silk tie. This was so unlike his normal attire, but it fit the setting. Onyx had arrived first and was at the table, waiting for Ardal.

The table had a dark cloth on it, a single lit candle, and a setting for two. The restaurant was dimly lit, so each table was lit by the candle, and gave a sense of privacy, as it was hard to see the other tables in the dim light. Onyx waited for Ardal to join him.

Had it really been two years already? Time sure does fly. Ardal had fallen head over heals for this tall drink of water. Handsome, caring, doting, and pretty much all around wonderful boyfriend, Ardal loved that he loved him so much. Even doing things like this.

As he preened himself-- blond locks perfectly in place, the most delicious shade of pink to his lips, a dark red shimmery sash that reminded him of that twinkle Onyx gets in his eye when he sees him, and a fancy dress that showed off his plumage-- he deemed himself ready. Onyx had really outdone himself with the venue and mood. Maybe he was starting to take notes and enjoy these things as much as the cherub did.

Once he was escorted to the table, he held a hand to his heart. "Oh, love! You've really outdone yourself!" He greeted the hybrid with open arms. "I feel like I'm meeting you all over again."

And there he was. Onyx stood when he saw Ardal arrive, and greeted him. "You look amazing." He leaned down to kiss the cherub's forehead. Their height difference was rather staggering. Onyx was around 3 feet taller then Ardal, but that just made the cherub even more attractive. Onyx was a shameless microphile; loving everything tiny. He pulled Ardal's chair out for him, smiling at his comment.

"Have I?" Onyx blushed. "I... just... you know. I know how much you love this. I wanted to do this for you." Oh crap. Now he felt nervous. He smiled, watching Ardal before he moved to his own seat. "I hope you enjoy this as much as our first date." Ugh! That sounded so dumb to say. Onyx had ordered them some wine which arrived as they sat there. Oh good. Something to distract himself with! If he was drinking, he couldn't say anything else stupid.

"You're the sweetest~" After he took his seat, the cherub took in his scenery. It was nice and quiet, and while not a private experience, they did their best to give their guests that feel. But something was definitely off. The flattery was usual and Ardal loved to bask in the compliments, but Onyx seemed to be nervous. Maybe he just still had that affect on him?

"You're so cute when you blush!" Ardal laughed as Onyx kept going on and on, taking a sip of his wine. There must have been something troubling him. Obviously not a breakup, cause this was too fancy of an establishment to leave someone in. He played with the stem of his wine glass and peered over at the hybrid. "Relax. You've already done more than enough to impress me."

Being told he was cute when he blushed only made him blush harder. They were given menus, and were left largely alone while they decided. Onyx told Ardal to order whatever he wished, and made small talk about things on the menu until they'd both decided and ordered. It was hard to relax, but he chuckled when Ardal said he impressed him. That was hard to do! (Not really.)

"Sorry. My mind is in a million places... and you're at the center of it all." He smiled. He knew Ardal liked being the center of his attention, and really, all his thoughts had been of the cherub lately. A tray of appetizers was brought, and their wine was refreshed for them before Onyx tried to explain what was on his mind. "I think we should have kids."

Ok... That wasn't as tactful as he wanted. "AH! I mean, I uh... I've been thinking, you know. You're over at my place all the time, I just thought maybe we could take it further? Maybe live together... and do that family thing..." He trailed off in a mumble.

Ardal loved when he blushed. It really was adorable, but he chose not to tease him any more about it. They had ordered and made small talk over wine until it seemed like the hybrid was ready to say what was on his mind.

He had prepared himself for something, but not this. Ardal almost choked, eyes widened for a moment as he placed the wine glass on the table. He tried to collect his thoughts. "...Kids?" He spoke softly, surprised that's where this was conversation was heading. "Moving in and... kids?"

They had been together for a while now, and Onyx loved small, cute things. Kids were the next logical step, right? "You think we're ready for that?"

That wasn't the response he had been expecting. Well, he honestly didn't know what to expect. He had hoped to ease into that topic, but, welp. Too late now. He gave a sheepish grin at Ardal and shrugged. "Is anyone ever really ready? I just... you know. I mean, we've been together for some time, and I really like you. You know, like a lot. Like love you levels." Ah, here came the word vomit. "So I was just thinking the next logical step maybe, would be like, we move in together and maybe start a family." He wasn't sure if Ardal would like to move in with him and his brother, and he recalled smacking his head on doorways at Ardal's place more then once...

"You just... Gotta give me a minute to digest this..." Admittedly, Ardal loved being the center of attention and children would cut in on that. But he wasn't opposed to the idea of them. Onyx continued on, as he did when he's nervous. It was cute and it showed just how much he had thought this through.

The cherub sighed, placing a hand on Onyx's hand. "I honestly didn't think I'd get the 'moving in and kids' suggestion tonight," he chuckled at how that was the farthest thing from his mind, "but believe me, Onyx, I love you too. I think..." He squeezed the hybrid's hand as he hesitated. "...I think we could make it work. Let's give it a shot."

Onyx was big enough to give attention to him and the kids and they'd be living together, that sounded like a dream. "But we gotta find a really nice place. I have *standards*." He laughed.

When Ardal said he needed to digest it, Onyx shut up instantly. He chewed on his lip nervously, wondering if Ardal thought he was a fool or something. He smiled at the touch, and listened to him. And then he agreed. Onyx's face lit up and he couldn't help it as he stood up and moved to scoop Ardal out of his seat to kiss him properly. They could make it work, for sure! And he could probably get Jasper to watch the kids whenever they needed... what were twins for otherwise?

"As long as I can fit inside and not hit my head on anything, we can look into getting anything you like." He might regret saying that, knowing Ardal's love of the finer things, but they could reach some sort of compromise based on how much money they make. They couldn't spend every cent on the house, because then they couldn't afford food. He slowly put Ardal back down, kissing him again before realizing he just made a scene.

Before he knew what was happening, Onyx had scooped him up into his big, strong arms. His face turned a pink akin to his lips as he patted the hybrid on the chest. "Dear... As much as I love this, you're making a scene..." He was giggling in his arms as he was put down.

He readjust himself, putting his clothes and hair in place before sitting back down. "Trust me, Onyx. This place will be the best! We'll have to have it big enough..." He thought for a moment. "Oh... The kids will probably be taller too... We'll figure it out." He brushed that thought a size. A place big enough for Onyx and fancy enough for Ardal could definitely be found. He returned to his wine and the appetizers. "I hope they have your dashing good looks." He smiled, "And my beautiful hair~"
