At this point, Eleusis felt that she was very much allowed to feel as if her life was going entirely to s**t. Delilah was gone. Hayley was gone, with just a note about how she couldn't leave Destiny City and she was sorry. Her parents were packing up and ready to move.

It seemed almost entirely likely, to her, that everything came back to this stupid, magical war. And she was tired. She was so, so tired.

But maybe she could fix it.

Maybe there was a way out.

She wandered to the Times Circle Fountain, and sat down, and pulled out a piece of paper and a pen.

Caledonite,

Please meet me at the Times Circle Fountain. Bring Galaxite, if he'd like to come. I have something I'd like to discuss.

-Eleusis

She folded the note, stamped it with her signet ring, and prayed that Caledonite and Galaxite remembered her.

Caledonite's scowl seemed to be a permanent feature when it came to Eleusis, and it only deepened as he stalked across the grass towards the their 'destination'. Galaxite had spotted the young Page first and pranced, quite literally, over to her before dropping down to sit beside her. The Captain rolled his eyes, making a noise of aggravation, both at her and Galaxite's display.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't gut you." He grumbled, thinking back on the rather unpleasant surprise that had popped up in front of him just a little while a go. His gaze dropped to the small collection of possessions beside her. "What's this really about?"

Galaxite gave Caledonite a flat look, and reached over to rest a hand on Eleusis's thigh. "Don't be rude, Ale," he said, and then he turned to the girl and gave her a gentle, sympathetic look. She looked like a wreck, and he had a feeling about why she might have reached out to a pair of Negaverse officers. This could be good, maybe.

"So? What did you need us for?"

Eleusis flinched away from Caledonite's anger, shrinking in on herself. "Sorry, the letter was...the easiest way to reach you," she said, and then she exhaled and looked up.

"What do you know about corruption? I only know a little, but....I heard it can wipe your memory. And I think I want that. To forget. To stop being myself, and have a chance to start over."

Caledonite returned the look with one of his own. "You don't give me orders Lieutenant. Know your place. Or do you need to be reminded of it?" The Captain snapped.

He then fixed Eleusis with a flat look. "What do you think I know of it? Cale responded dully. "I'm pretty sure the two of us have been over that subject. You know, back during that 'swamp thing'. You claimed that you would... 'Never be like that.' or some such garbage."

And look where she was now.

"I was thrown under a bus by someone I though cared about me, just so he could save his a** from a dumb bet." Caledonite shrugged towards Gala. "I drained his energy to the point where he was falling asleep on my shoulder. I remember nothing of my old self out of spite for the one who corrupted me. Gala remembers nothing of his former self for his own reasons. Corruption is pain Eleusis. Pure, unfiltered pain unlike NOTHING you have or ever will feel in your god forsaken life."

Caledonite shrugged. "It's like I told you back then. I watched my friends, family, just regular people suffer as a Page. Or so I've been told. I could do nothing back then. I couldn't protect them, and I couldn't protect myself. You're looking at the proof of that. Now though? Now that it's happened? I can do so much more."

He eyed the bag of things she had. "I'll give you one warning." He said, his tone much softer then it had been. "You don't get to run home to mommy or daddy. Whoever if you get scared. There is no going back." Well, technically their was. But she'd be dead before she even considered it. "The second you decide you're over this. That you want out?"

Caledonite leaned over, getting in her face.

"I'll kill you myself."

Galaxite huffed, but it came out sounding much fonder than was probably warranted by the circumstances. "My apologies, Captain," he said, in a tone that somehow managed to be both contrite and a little bit flirty. "I'll let you handle things, then." He was never afraid, even when Caledonite made threats or growled or snapped. Salem would never hurt him, not really, no matter how he blustered. That was something Galaxite trusted implicitly. So there was no need to pretend to be more apologetic than he felt when he could have a little fun with Cale.

Still, he kept a hand on Eleusis's shoulder. She might need the reassurance of knowing that at least one of them was unquestionably on her side, especially since this was a topic liable to seriously agitate Caledonite. That wasn't Eleusis's fault, though, not really. No one could help how Caledonite felt about these things, and how firm his loyalty was. being dragged in forcibly and traumatically, in a terrible betrayal, would make anyone a little tense about the topic of corruption.

And if she was sincere...well. The fact that she'd packed her things suggested that she very much was.

Good. Galaxite liked her. She'd look much prettier in black. She'd probably be happier, too. Not that Galaxite had much of a point of comparison, really? He couldn't be sure how happy he'd been before Caledonite brought him home, since he couldn't remember anything at all, really. Still, though, he knew how happy he was now, and how happy they could undoubtedly make Eleusis.

Eleusis inhaled, tightly, and flinched. She wondered, briefly, if she'd made a mistake, reaching out to Caledonite and Galaxite. After what happened on New Year's Eve, she'd thought maybe things had softened between the three of them, but maybe she'd been wrong about it changing much in terms of Caledonite's opinion of her. Still, she listened to what he had to say, and she absorbed it, and when he leaned into her space, she took a deep breath, straightened her back, and gave a firm nod.

"I won't change my mind. I've been thinking about this for a long time. So if I run? If I change my mind after it's done? I'll put my life in your hands. Kill me before I give myself back. Because the only thing being Eleusis has ever brought me is misery."

That wasn't totally true. Themiscyra had been good. But that was long over, and it was her own fault.

"Do whatever you have to do. I've made my preparations. I have nothing holding me to the life I used to live. Let me become something better."

"It's going to hurt, Eleu." He reminded. "Both Galaxite and I were corrupted unwillingly. We had our energy drained, on top of that. We both had our own issues after corruption. Your's is likely to be no different. I can not help you through it. Neither can he." Caledonite murmured, jesturing to Galaxite as he pulled his communicator out. "Once the Sovereign gets here, it's all on you."

Caledonite spared his partner a quick glance. "Remove yourself from her before you get yourself in more trouble." He muttered before pausing. "....What is your name?" Cale asked suddenly. He wasn't entirely sure why he asked. Maybe just because he knew what Gala's use to be. Maybe because... Caledonite shook his head with a sigh. Bah, whatever. He turned, suddenly walking a short distance away. Galaxite would catch the name for him, if he were to miss it.

It was time for Eleu to put her money where her mouth was.

"This is Captain Caledonite. I have a Page inquiring about corruption. I'm requesting some assistance from the nearest available Sovereign."

Hessonite received the call and felt a small thrill at the very idea, and a strange sense of déjà vu. A page in need of corruption. What a familiar story. The General Queen looked around her office with a sad little smile and teleported to the location that her tablet showed her.

“A page who wants to make the right choice and come to us, huh?” Her garnet eyes took in the girl who looked to be around her own age. “Such pretty long hair you have. What’s your name now? Your knight name, and your true name.” She withdrew a camera from the subspace pocket where she always kept it and began to fiddle with the settings, her eyes taking in the trio.

They almost reminded her of how things had been with Axinite and Lepidolite and the redheaded woman found herself smiling. “Why do you think this is the right choice? I mean, obviously it is but…You have reasons? I want to know them. I want to know everything so that when you forget we can tell you again.”

Because she would forget. They always forgot.

Get close together. I’ll get a quick photo so you have something to remember tonight by. It’s going to be a party after I’m done.”

Galaxite made a soft sighing noise, and squeezed Eleusis's shoulder one last time before standing up and moving next to Caledonite. Now all that was left was to wait and see which of the General-Sovereigns would show.

And when one did, he grinned broadly. This wasn't someone Galaxite knew, no, but the General-Sovereign he was most familiar with was Laurelite, and these days, she was the Queen. She had little time for things like this, he was sure. No words were said, though, because it simply wasn't his place, not now--this was about Eleusis, and whoever she was going to become. So instead of saying anything, he simply bowed, briefly, to General-Queen Hessonite. It seemed appropriate to have her here, all things considered; from everything he knew, in his research to get better acquainted with all of the General-Sovereigns and their places in the Negaverse, she had once bene a Page, just like Eleusis, and she too had been remade by the Negaverse.

Who better, then, to remake the girl in front of them?

Eleusis opened her mouth to answer Caledonite's question--because it didn't matter, not anymore--and then it felt like the breath was punched from her lungs.

She had felt Generals' auras before, and she thought she knew what Chaotic power felt like. She had no idea, apparently. The pretty, petite redhead in front of her absolutely radiated dark power. Eleusis knew she had to b staring in a very gobsmacked sort of way, especially when the woman pulled out, of all things, a camera, and it took a moment for her brain to reconnect with her mouth again.

"Eleusis Page of Cosmos," she said. "And my real name is...Thalia. Thalia Masters." She gave a brief nod, and then stood up and moved over towards Caledonite and Galaxite. "My reasons are...it's kind of...complicated? But mostly I'm really, really tired, Your General-Queen-ness. I used to be one of five siblings, but they're all gone. My oldest sister had a fight with my parents and cut us all off. The twins have both been gone for years. And my youngest sister, the baby, she...left a note and went missing a few months back. And I can't do anything as a Page. I'm weak and fragile, like a...like some kind of stained-glass window or porcelain doll." She gestured at herself, at her sweeping, fancy dress and her long braids.

"I don't want to be me anymore. I don't want to be weak, and sad, and scared. I want to be more than that."

Caledonite and Eleusis seemed to be on the same wave length, because Caledonite was also very confused by the appearance of, of all things, a camera.

What the ******** seemed to stare for a moment before Eleu's small movement drew his attention. He wanted to move closer, to crowd against her and away from... well whatever this was. But it wasn't his place. Not yet. So he watched, and waited.

Hessonite felt a great wave of amusement at the reactions that she received and rolled her eyes, giving a grin. “Get close together now. This is a happy day, little Eleusis. It’s your birthday. We want to have something to remember what you were. And then we’ll have a picture of what you are, and eventually, pictures of what you will have become. Which, if I’m not mistaken…will be something great.”

But of course she would end up great. All knights who became agents ended up great. Why, just look at herself!

“Now, I want one with the three of you, since I hope you boys will look after her when I’ve brought her in. If I hear you’ve been shirking…well.” Hessonite gave them each a look and then grinned broadly. “And after, I want one with just you and me, darling. So you’ll have something to remember me by. It will be wonderful.”

The General Queen held the camera to her eye and watched the three, still amused with the utter confusion that she was causing. Though, It wasn’t anything new. Memories were everything. And if the ranks were going to keep swelling, she had to make as many as she could as quickly as she could. “Say ‘cheese’, ducklings! And you, Caledonite, smile!”

Galaxite roleld his eyes fondly, letting Eleusis tug him over for the picture. This did seem like a nice idea, if you asked him--sure, Caledonite was grumpy about it, but Caledonite was grumpy about everything. He hadn't gone into his corruption with his eyes open, not the way Eleusis was, but he sort of wished he had a memento like this. To remind him of the moment.

"Come on, Ale," he beckoned, tucking up against Eleusis's side. She was so small, especially compared to the two of them, it was almost adorable.

"I promise, we'll take very good care of her, ma'am."

Eleusis blinked, briefly, in momentary confusion, but then she smiled, and nodded. This was a big day, after all. A sort of graduation and birthday all in one, wasn't it? So she turned to Caledonite, briefly disentangling from Galaxite's arms to do so. She cupped the sides of his face, planted a brief kiss on his lips, and then tugged him into the shot, so that Hessonite could photograph the three of them.

"It's almost like a wedding photo, huh? Especially in this dress."

Now, that was a better reaction. Hessonite grinned as she took the pictures, feeling more excitement for the whole corruption. “It looks as though the two of you will be taking good care of her, and I tell you, that’s a good thing, because if I thought that she wouldn’t be taken care of. Well, I would have words of warning for you both. It’s always wonderful when we have someone so willing to join us, and we will celebrate you, my darling.”

Moving over, the General Queen quietly tugged the page away from her two guard dogs and held the camera up, getting a picture of the two of them, and when she carefully looked at it, the camera was dismissed back into subspace without another thought. “I’ll have those developed soon enough, and I’ll see that you all get copies. Now, on to the main event, yes it was like a wedding photo, and we will celebrate when this is over, though, I do have to say, your dress will be changing.”

Her hand moved swiftly, sliding into the Page’s chest without giving her time to think or react. It was clear that the woman knew what she was doing, and wasn’t working to deliberately cause any pain. But with the nature of corruptions, pain could never be avoided. “Your dress will change, your memories will fade, but it will be worth it, little one. Focus through the pain, and we’ll see how you come out on the other side, shall we?”

Hessonite pushed the chaos into the fragile starseed that rested in her hand, and she watched with excitement as the corruption took hold.

Eleusis wanted to say something, anything at all, but she discovered very quickly that Hessonite was not kidding.

It hurt.

It hurt like nothing in Eleusis's life had ever hurt before, but she grit her teeth and clenched her fists and refused to scream or even to whimper. She had to do this. She had to be remade into something better. Not a scared little girl, but a powerful, confident woman, someone who could be an officer of the Negaverse.

And she was.

Caledonite grimaced watching Eleu's transformation, absently rubbing at his chest. The action stopped as quickly as it had come when Galaxite leaned against his arm, watching the sight before them both.

A sigh escaped him as everything began to settle down and a Lieutenant was left before him.

"I told you so..." He muttered, as he peeled himself from Galaxite and walked over to her. "Be glad yours was willing. Mine was forced, hurts a hell of a lot more. Trust me." He placed a kiss on her forehead, in lieu of asking how she was, before stealing one for himself. "Hello Princess..." Caledonite whispered quietly. Just for her. Only for her. Caledonite leaned into her space then, whispering something in her ear before flashing her a grin.

He stood then, giving Galaxite a grin of his own, only this one more devilish before turning his attention back to his newest charge. "Be good for your prince, yes?"

With that he teleported on the spot, leaving them all.
