Chip, while still knowing very little, was no longer a lost little kitty. Now he was just a slightly bored little kitty, poking his head into every little thing because it was there...as opposed to, well, poking his head into every little thing because he was there. The difference was subtle, to be sure. What ever the case, Chip received some instructions to go on a trip with a Lieutenant out in Destiny City. Provide the stealthy guardian cat cover while they had a look around for any unusual Order activity. Simple enough, really, and it being an actual mission, simple though it may be, made Chip very happy. The Lieutenant couldn't get himself into Negaspace, so Chip went out to meet him (was it a him? They weren't very specific about things. Just a time and a place). Navigating a city was not quite the same as navigating a castle, but he still made pretty good time, and managed to position himself mostly out of sight on a nice box while he waited for the Lieutenant to turn up.

Carminite was never one to look down on a mission regardless of how simple it seemed, so when he was tasked with doing some surveillance he took the assignment with a dutiful nod and went on to find the Mauvian he'd been (very mercifully) partnered with. He was particularly exhausted today having had a long day at work and a tough workout at the gym before he'd gotten summoned, so he was grateful for the presence of someone who could help keep him hidden. Or at least his power signature. All he physically had to do, then, was stay out of sight.
Which he was doing his best to do while making his way through the city to the arranged meeting spot--an alley.
He wrinkled his nose at the setting once he arrived. "You'd think they'd let us meet somewhere out of sight and still nice, for once," he grumbled while glancing around for his partner.
"Any chance you beat me here?" he called out, not wanting to expend too much energy looking for his partner. "No one's around, so if you're hiding just come on out and we can get going."

While the odor of the Alleyway was... fragrant, Chip wasn't too bothered by it. On the one paw, he knew it wasn't a good smell, but on the other paw peeking around to find exactly what was causing it was a good way to pass the time until... There he is! Definitely a he. Probably. Chip backed away from the stinky "s,ʎpuǝM" bag he had been peering at, and popped out from behind the boxes. "I sure did!" he declared, reaching a paw up to adjust his hat slightly. "I promise I didn't roll in anything back here, so lemme ride on your shoulder!" He paused. "Oh yeah, I'm Chip, but they told you that, right?" He put his paws forward and stretched out, grinning up at the Lieutenant, his tail swaying behind him.

The exclamation had him turning around to catch sight of a cat...in a hat. He quirked a brow but didn't comment and instead just gesturing for the cat to hop on. "Carminite, good to meet you. I don't normally trust too quickly, but you on my shoulder would probably get us where we need to go faster."
At that, while he waited for the cat to join him he glanced around and pointed up at the rooftops. "I'll get us up there first, it's easier to get around the city unseen from the rooftops. Would you be able to start stealthing right away or does it tire you out?"
Clearly he wasn't too sure how Mauvians and their powers worked, and he felt it was better safe than sorry. If he ran straight into something Order-related and they spotted him, he knew they'd give him a run for his money. Physically he felt he could take on a small gang at once, but if that small gang all had magic powers of some kind? He was a sitting duck.

Chip walked right up to the man’s foot, and looked up expectantly. “Sounds like a good plan! Getting up on top of buildings is tough for me sometimes...so I’ll bet this’ll be fun.” His tail twitched in a happy sort of way as he said it. “You’d better pick me up, I don’t think you want my claws all up your body, hehe.” “I can keep you hidden for plenty long enough,” he explained. “Can’t do it all day, though.”

It took about half a minute of waiting for Carminite to glance down again at the Mauvian, blinking when he explained what it was he was waiting for...and he sort of mentally face-palmed. "Right. Sorry."
He leaned over and carefully picked up Chip, the gesture making it clear that he handled some kind of pet on a regular basis. He lifted up the feline to his shoulder and waited for him to climb on from there. "I always thought cats were really good about vertical things...but I guess that only mostly makes sense indoors or buildings with trees next to 'em. Anyway, okay. This shouldn't take too, too long. Observe and report is all that we were asked to do, so."
Carminite was by no means an overachiever; if given a task he would complete the task, no more, no less.
"So maybe a few hours tops. Doable?"

“I could,” Chip replied as he shifted to Carminite’s shoulder, where he got up close to the neck, and then more or less draped himself there, with paws braced around lightly. “But I’m really small, and it’s easier this way! For me, and your shirt.”
Besides, being lifted up was kind of fun...when he was the one directing it.
With a small settling wiggle, Chip nodded and said, “I can keep it up plenty long enough to have a look around. No problem!” He pointed a paw up to the sky. “Let’s go~!”
Ultimately, the expedition into the city wasn't terribly interesting. They spotted the occasional Order signature, and even followed them a bit--stealth powers are nice. But nothing terribly strange seemed to be going on anywhere, and since they were trying to not draw attention to the fact that there was an officer carrying a cat around, they didn't go after anyone.
So, finally, Chip bid the Lieutenant a lovely day, and went on his merry way, stopping to eyeball some interesting locks along the way, and thinking, I need to see how those work...
