Aye, you'd be quite surprised when you first meet this youthful blonde. What looks to be a mere child playing dress up is very much a real pirate. Though her body changed, Karliah's personality hasn't. She's still a loud, in-your-face, no-holds-bard kind of gal. You best bet she won't go down without a fight! The woman trapped in a child's body is every bit a pirate as any other. Loyalty to her means everything. To get with her you need to show guts and grit, no p***y-willows allowed on deck! If you double cross this lass, you'll find yourself in a world of hurt, Karliah does not let betrayal go unpunished. She won't go searching the world over mind you, unless you've done something extremely horrible to her or her ship mates. Nay, she'll simply hold a grudge until the day her path crosses the one who wronged her. Finally you best bet, this bonny lass won't be resortin' to trickery or lies to get what she wants. When she wants something she's a straight as an arrow but as adamant as a cannon ball. If she really wants something she'll die trying to get the good ole' fashion way of any Pirate worth his Skull and Crossbones.

Karliah Calico, daughter to the late great Agustine Calico and Patricia V. Calico, is also daughter to the sea. Karliah's mother and father were at once the greatest pirates of their time, rivaled by little to no one as they sailed the seven seas and pillaged any who dared wear their precious jewels in the open. Aye, Karliah was born into a great legecy. Agustine Calico, and his father before him and his father's father were all great pirates, Jameas Calico being the most notorious. He carved the once beautiful pirate cove; a refuge for ne'er do wells and vagabonds looking for a job in the art of piracy. Known as Avery Island the world wide after Jameas' love, who he swore when she passed away she became a goddess that watched over them all since when she died a mysterious Pokemon appeared above her lifeless corpse, a Jirachi.
When Karliah was to be born, her mother decided it would be in her and her unborn child's best interest to cast anchor in Avery Island to raise her daughter, Agustine of course agreed. The seas were rough, and for a new born child it would be an early trip to Davy Jones' locker. And for the first eight years of Karliah's life it worked, but nay, the sea called the young girl. Thus, she joined her father and his crew when he came to visit for her birthday; as he'd done every year. Of course her father's crew always teased her and made her do a dogs work. To her father this was what pirating was. It wasn't all yo ho ho, drink some rum and loot a village. It was hard work keeping a ship in tip-top shape, especially as technology proceeded to make things harder for pirates to function. Luckily the region of the world in which they terrorized weren't getting newer technology as fast as other places. Needless to say, it was hard on the young girl, but she loved every day.
But as young children do, they grow. Year after year and Karliah started to look more and more like her mother did at her age, and aye.. the crew noticed. Specifically a nasty fellow, who'd been with the crew for well over ten summers, who'd watched Karliah get bigger and taller... and older. One night, Karliah was on watch, alone up in the Murkrow's nest, she was quietly humming her favorite tune whilst watching the stars go by, it was then she heard the creak of the old wood and the tug of the heavy rope ladders. Sitting up she found the nasty scallywag and his two dunderheads climbing their way up. They were out for a prize that was purely off limits, and Karliah wasn't going to let them have it so easily.
She of course fought back, getting in a clean shot to the crotch and a jab in the leader of the dundersquad in the eye, in a fit of frustration the b*****d chucked the lithe Karliah off the crows nest, and down into the ocean she fell.
When the girl next woke, she was on a distant shore, perhaps miles and miles away from home. She wandered a shore and quickly gained the attention of the locals, who kindly aided her to a hospital to get her checked out. Save some scrapes and bruises the girl was no worse for wear. Save; she'd lost her memory. With no knowledge of who she was, the young girl was placed with a family to foster her while they searched for her family or someone who knew her.
After two years, Karliah was well set in her ways. Adopted by the family who were only meant to foster her, she was a spry young lass, and a heck of a sailor herself. Old habits died hard however, as she'd taken up a small crew of her own and started to sail across the oceans not far from her new home. It was however, one day when she came across an old man on a tiny boat that her life came right back like a kick to the head. The old man mistook Karliah for her real mother, and began blubberin' about how he thought she'd died during the siege of Avery Island. Memories pulled her back to her old life, and at once Karliah and her crew set sail for Avery Island.
What they found was not the island she remembered. The place was crawling with militia, and it as utterly locked up unable to be entered into; at least not by anyone without prior knowledge. Karliah made her way deep into the island by way of hidden passages, until she found the Captian's nest, the main hub of the island's interior and the place where the treasure hoard was meant to be. There in her father's seat rested the b*****d who'd thrown her in to the ocean. She went to attack, but found herself set up. The old man who'd told her of the attack on Avery Island had told the truth, but it was all a ploy to get Karliah back to the island. As luck would have it though, not all of her father's crew were liars and quickly they also appeared to retaliate against the militia and the mutinous b*****d who'd murdered their captain. The battle was hard but well fought, it was enough to drive the militia away, if only for awhile.
Redigar Greeve, Augustine's right hand man, then explained all that had transpired. About how Augustine beat the shite out of the b*****d that had tried to have his way with her, then made the a*****e walk the plant along with his crew. Apparently he'd survived and held a grudge long enough to become the military's lapdog, feeding them information on Avery Island and it's weak points. They'd caught the island during their morning for her when they'd been attacked. But now that Karliah was back, they could reclaim their home. Redigar then went on to show Karliah an oddly shaped necklace, to which he explained would lead her to her Great, Great grandfather's treasure; the Jirachi said to be Avery reincarnated.
With that, Karliah sailed once more, her grew now doubled with men from her father's crew. Loyal men who would aid her during her travel to find her lineages' treasure and with the power of Jirachi they could once more free Avery Island from it's stronghold and return to their lives of piracy. However, that wasn't to be the case. Quite a few years passed and the treasure never seemed any closer. The b*****d traitor had himself become quite notorious on the seas, and it seemed his soul duty was to piss Karliah off. She was finally on the final step to obtaining her family's treasure and that b*****d was on her heels, hungry like a wolf. When they found the Jirachi, the man and his men fought with Karliah, and in the scuffle, the b*****d made a wish, to which the Jirachi granted.. save it was a bit off on the calculations. Wished to be a young tart for the taking, the Jirachi instead made her... a child. Age 11 to be precise. Finding herself no longer fit to fight, she called for a retreat. Besides the chaos, everyone escaped. Now Karliah had a new problem. The Jirachi who'd granted her wish was fast asleep, ready for it's 1000 year slumber, leaving Karliah with little hope of returning to her proper age. That was until the visage of her great, great grandmother appeared before her on a cliff side, the full moon at her back. The woman told Karliah that the real treasure still existed, as she'd died and thus the Jirachi came to be in her place, so did her child and in it's place, another wish granter. The ghost of Avery handed Karliah another odd-shaped necklace and told her to venture to the south, far to a distant land where she must travel on foot to the location the necklace lead her. That was when Karliah's destination lead her to the Grotto region.
