She was outside. Iolanthe took a deep breath, letting the fresh air fill her lungs and caress her skin. It gently tussled the fur of her tail and brought the sounds of so much to her flicking ears. Io did not care why she'd been brought out of the Rift, only that she had. Some General had commanded her presence and then simply... let her loose. Perhaps it had been the way she stared at the stars, or the way she walked off without regard for their orders.
The stars were bright tonight...
Something flared against Iolanthe's awareness and a sweet smell hit her nose. The goatuar youma snapped her head to the side, the pupils of her yellow eyes - hidden by their glow - dilated with intensity. Her tail flicked as a soft smile graced her face.
Prey.
Iolanthe shot off into the night, hooves echoing on the hard ground of the city. As she approached, she slowed to a steady walk, her steps all but silent, and pulled a single rose from her hip. She held it between her hands as she stepped into the shadows near the source of the bright and delicious awareness
There she stood, just in sight, eyes and rose glowing bright green-yellow in the night.

He had been minding his own business, testing how much stamina remained as he bounced between buildings. While he could have vaulted enough and used the fire escape to lift him high enough to clear the building and land on the rooftop the page had been more interested in testing how long it would take him jumping to and from the sides of buildings to get the height he needed.
Just as he reached the top, hands shooting out to cat the lip of the roof and pull him atop, he felt something tingle on the awareness of his senses. It felt almost familiar, like what he had felt right before the monstrous bird attacked.
Feeling a spike of bad adrenaline, green eyes lifted upwards to look at the sky and found that it was clear with the stars twinkling above or as much as they did with light pollution.
Odd.

Iolanthe smiled, a vicious looking expression illuminated by the glowing rose in her hands. The stars had smiled upon her this day. Not only did she get to see the real sky, the real stars, but she'd found some overflowing with pure energy. She watched him for a moment, and he simply looked up at the sky.
The rose in her hands lifted into the air and slowly began to pull apart from itself. The petals rotated in the air for a moment.
Iolanthe leaned forward and gently blew on them.
They shot towards the Page with deadly accuracy, tiny blades of hardened crystal aiming straight for his heart.
Let the games begin.Quote: Crystal Petals - Iolanthe pulls one of her roses off of her body and concentrates it, making it glow green like her eyes. The rose floats off her hand, and begins to break apart. She then blows on the separated petals, which crystallize and fly at her opponent. The petals are fairly sharp and will cut clothing and skin cleaning. These petals can travel up to 10 yards in a straight line in front of her. Once they reach the end of the 10 yards, or 20 seconds from the time she plucks the rose from herself elapses, the petals disintegrate into nothing. She can use this ability twice per battle, and each rose breaks into 15 petals

He caught the movement from the corner of his eye and Marathon reacted by twisting, arms lifting to protect his face and vitals. For once he wished the foam padding had provided him with arm guards because he was hissing as they cut through the fabric of the get up he found himself in. <******** this," he hissed, arms lowering when he spotted the woman...no, the creature.
s**t. Not again. No one was here to swoop in for a rescue like the one knight so he did what he did best.
He took off running.

Iolanthe grinned, her face splitting impossibly wide. Yes, run little light, run. Run as fast as you can. She took a step, then another, then another until the rhythmic sound of hooves on glass followed Marathon through the night. He would tire - they always tire eventually - and then she would take the light from him. It made her giddy with the thrill of it. Hunting those that wondered into the Rift proper was amusing, to a point. They always ran for the safety of their little castle, going to a place she could not follow. It was never satisfying, and how she wanted something satisfying. If only this little light wouldn't disappoint.

He could feel his heart almost thundering against his ribs. It was an unusual feeling, because Marathon was not the type of guy who got scared. In fact, he didn't know how he felt outside of the fact that he wanted to get the ******** out of dodge.
Whatever the hell that creature was with it's sharp petals (like what the hell, petals weren't supposed to be sharp) wasn't something he felt up to dealing with.
Hearing the hooves clicking behind him had him cursing, head ducking down and the page working on increasing his speed. He wasn't a track runner for nothing and as Marathon he had more endurance and speed, surely he could outpace her until he could slip away and power down or whatever it was called.
