Gotta go fast! Sanic, in all his glory, clearly had the right idea...so one of the things Nix liked to do was see how quickly he could go across, over, and around buildings. It was fun, and also potentially useful if he needed to get away from--or get to--a situation quickly. It was best done as a race, but sometimes he just did it on his own because he could.
Today was one of those days, and so he was dashing full out across a rooftop, leaping, and landing with thump (or perhaps a 'plap') before doing it again. For the most part, he avoided the extra tall buildings, as it was much easier to be spotted climbing those, but he came across a couple that were similarly tall, and taller than the one he was on, so decided to try bouncing between the two. Up, up, UP!
If anyone saw it...oh well. Maybe they'd think there was just some daredevil up there. And they wouldn't be wrong, exactly...

My thinking being Austin notices Nix go by overhead, and decides to challenge the zippy one. But you can take it what ever way you like. smile

Remembering the phrase to go from Austin to Marathon was getting easier (and it helped that it was always there, pressing against the back of his mind) and he had been experimenting more and more as he was waiting on parts for his car.
Normally his go to when he couldn't drive because he was working on the vehicle was to keep up on his running, but he figured, a few random monster attacks aside, that taking advantage of his enhanced speed and strength.
In fact, he was warming up, stretching out his limbs a little before he really pushed his limits when something went shooting by.
Curious, Marathon decided to see who had flown past. The sensation he got from them wasn't as bad as the ones when he'd been attacked so he figured it wouldn't be a problem.
Besides, he was confident he could outrun them anyway.
So he got himself up on top of the buildings and took off after it.

As Nix was running along, he felt a new energy signature, which started moving pretty quick. He considered stopping entirely, but decided to make a game of it instead—he kept moving, albeit a little slower, so that the other person would catch up.
Once he did catch up, Nix called out, “Care for a race?” He pointed. “See that real tall tower over there? I’ll bet I can get to the top before you!”
He honestly didn’t know this guy, or if he would be amenable to the challenge...but the way that knight approached made him think, yeah, this guy likes racing.
Luckily, so did Nix...though Nix was taking it slow until he was sure he was in for a race, and was definitely perfectly willing to stop and hash out specifics first. But that was less fun.

Besides working on his car, track or running in general was one of the few things that Marathon gave a s**t about. He kept up in shape, was quick on his feet despite his large size as Austin and as Marathon...he could outpace a lot.
Which meant it didn't take him too long to catch up to the...frog dude.
Green eyes gave him a once over before he shrugged, following the line of sight. "Why not?"
His pace had slowed to what he considered a jog, breathing even before he glanced back over to the destination.
Frog legs hadn't set any rules so he took off.

Nix grinned at the agreement, and was juuust about to declare, “Ready, Set, GO!” When his opponent took off at a pretty good clip.
“Oh!” He breathed out in surprise, and took off at a dash right behind. The first building edge came up quickly, and it was a pretty easy jump—only someone super new and timid would have hesitated on it, so it was no real worry. The next one, though, was a bit bigger, and Nix decided to show off a bit (what could he say? He liked the attention)...
As he approached the ledge, he took a leap which rather obviously wouldn’t make it clear across, and then stuck out his tongue, causing a big ethereal one to shoot out and...thump on the building across the way, yanking him over to it.
With only a bit of a scramble, he bounced up to the roof again and laughed out, glancing toward the knight.

If short stuff thought he would be impressed with the way he cleared the second building, he'd be mistaken. The first jump was something easy, unquestionable for a man who'd been parkouring for a while and the second wasn't really much of a challenge considering how tall he was and the speed that he was running at.
Marathon wasn't afraid of messing up, all of his free time spent powered was used to test what he was capable of. Sure, it wasn't a lot but considering how rarely he powered up, it was still impressive.
There was no hitch in his step when he pushed off the ledge and caught the lip of the other with his fingers when he cleared the space and hoisted him up and over without a stutter.
If frog legs wanted to beat him, he'd have to do better.

“Hey, you’re pretty good!” Nix called out cheerily, vaulting over an AC unit. He was thinking that he may have to use more...direct methods for victory, but for the moment would keep that under his hat (so to speak) until just before they got to the last building...
For now, he was at least mostly keeping pace, though slightly behind. He was thoroughly impressed that someone he’d never met—and didn’t appear to be a higher “rank”—could do this so easily, and wanted to cheer that on...but he was also a bit miffed. The boy had gotten used to showing off all the time.
So this was probably exactly what he needed.
Another gap! Leap! THUMP. Perfect landing! Not a toe out of line (which happened fairly frequently, if he was perfectly honest), so that was nice.
Then another! There wasn’t long to go from here...

Marathon was able to step onto something and that allowed him to catch some extra air when he jumped. His pacing was steady, breathing even from years of track and vaulting.
He didn't care to make small talk when that would inevitably leave him more winded than he cared for.
Nix would get a glance of green eyes tossed his way but no friendly words. This was a race and he was going to exert his energy on beating the froggy dude.

Nix was still a bit behind, but they were drawing close to the end...and this was a senshi race. Sort of. So, naturally, it was time to make the race a bit more... interesting.
He adjusted his course ever so slightly to end up directly behind the knight and, when they were both on the same rooftop (he didn't want to accidentally throw someone off a building, after all), he lunged in his run and stuck out his tongue, sending a large, grabby ethereal tongue right at the man's back. With any luck, he'd yank him right back...but even if it didn't go well, Nix would propel himself forward!
Win/win, far as he was concerned.
Big Tongue: sticky grab!
Nix mimes the action of using his tongue, creating a large ethereal frog tongue. This tongue can either shoot a straight line 15 feet away striking with the force of a hard punch which can leave a bruise if the target player desires, or take the form of a large licking tongue which can make contact with something not more than 2 feet away. In both cases, Nix may choose to have the tongue be either sticky or poisonous. If it is sticky, the strength of his tongue is such that whatever he grabs, the smaller of the two objects (Nix and his target) will get pulled as his tongue retracts. If it is poisonous and hits an organic target they will suffer the effects of rapid poisoning (which can include dizziness, fatigue, nausea and vomiting) for thirty seconds.
As soon as the tongue is retracted, it disappears. The tongue may be used three more times.
The tongue missed its mark—barely—but it still yanked Frog Boy ahead, and he caught back up. Soon enough, the racers reached their goal, and it was a bit hard to determine who won...so Nix decided to acknowledge the man as the winner, and gave him a bow with a little flourish. “Good race! You’re really good at that!”
After a few pleasant-ish pleasantries, Nix went about his business once again, admittedly still feeling the excitement of a race.
