Ever since she can remember, Jaelle loved colored glass. Her special skills or so she thought was finding pieces that most thought of as "trash" she would find the perfect fit for in a piece she was creating. Fitting together seamlessly and fluidly.
For hours at a time she would be sitting on her dorm floor near her bed laying out her colored pieces of glass, stone or if she was really lucky gems.
For a freshling she seemed to possess amazing "feeling of right" when she was placing the pieces for the perfect look. Each piece she placed felt like finishing off the "Mona Lisa" of Mosaics.
She knew this was what she wanted to do with her life, create beautiful works of art using colored glass. She would use other types for her art but the glass was her favorite. It was cool and usually smooth to the touch, easy to grip with her long claws and sturdy which surprised her at first. She was scared since it was glass but to her amazement it was durable and easy to work with in her art.
She felt at peace when she was creating and could get lost in moving the pieces around for hours. She would blink and half a day would go by without her moving. She knew this was not good, but this was so infrequent she did not find it alarming. She was a very good student in school but she counted down the minutes until she could be creating art. It seemed to occupy her thoughts constantly.
Unfortunately, one of her teachers noticed her lack of participation in class and spoke to her about it. She tried to explain how much art meant to her but no matter what she said the teacher was firm about her needing to pay attention in class and do her studies. Art would always be there to create, but schooling would not be. If she did not pass her classes she would never go on to her Junior level studies which would prohibit her from Senior studies and Graduation as well.
Upset she left the classroom and strolled around the halls and outside where she sat under the shade of a large tree crying and feeling sorry for herself. The thought of doing art now was sad, she just did not want to.
Sitting there for a length of time, she raised her head and saw the most beautiful sight. The sky! It was beautiful, the colors were so light and airy she knew she had to find the perfect glass pieces and make a mosaic out of what she just saw.
Rushing back to her dorm she began to sort her glass pieces hoping to find exactly what she needed.
