Senshi awakenings were and odd kind of affair. Most times you were lucky when it happened at nights and most people assumed that Mauvians were just really good planners in awakening most during the night. The thing was, Mauvians followed the same sleeping patterns as earth cats and just kinda happened to be awake at night and that's why they sensed senshi to awaken. It wasn't planning - it was just laziness during the day.
Arthur usually was working during the day, but he was out looking around for a store that sold armchairs that he liked. He planned to order some and have them delivered to a spot where another Mauvian said they could have equipment moved inside the Mauvian HQ. The library needed more chairs and he wanted to make sure they were comfortable as he probably would be sleeping on them.
It shop was on the other side of town and had odd hours. He was heading that way when that magical tingle grabbed him and turned his stomach with fluttering butterfly tingles.
Senshi.
And not the normal sense you had one you could feel moving around powered up and doing their duties. This one was dormant.
Arthur looked about and noticed it was only just mid day moving into evening. Not exactly an ideal time to be waking anyone up, but he couldn't risk loosing them either by just waiting around for a better time. No, this had to be now.
Turning, he headed their way and soon found himself sneaking past an iron fence-work and into a nursery and garden center. Perfect for hiding a cat, but he needed to find them.
It didn't take long when, pushing through some ferns, he spotted her. A young red-head. Looking about, he waited till some customers walked away before he crawled his way over and whispered. "Psst."

Her studies had gotten the better of her in recent weeks; she'd been so focused on completing the last of her dissertation that she had rather lost track of time. Unsurprisingly this had had several consequences and very little of her had come out 'unscathed'; least of all some of her succulents...
To some the ability to murder something that could almost survive entirely on air was an achievement. To others, it was the definition of true incompetence and she had fund herself despairing at the fact that she had become so focused on one singular task that her plants had suffered. She'd deliberately gotten them so that she could distract herself and yet here she was in a garden centre looking for inspiration.
Obviously, she'd be getting herself another succulent (or six), but she'd also made a quiet promise to herself that she would make up for her immediate transgression and take on a little more responsibility this time. This had meant that she'd spent much of the last twenty minutes gazing intently at the labels strung carefully to each plant's stem. Each denoted a certain level of care from soil to sunlight, each required a certain temperature and just the right amount of water... But she hadn't quite found one that had called out to her.
...Or rather she hadn't until she had leaned down to inspect another label when she heard it. It was a 'psst' just off to her side and at first glance, her eyes settled on a rather beautiful orchid.
Had that orchid called out to her?
She shook her head, surely not! Yet she did find herself wandering over to it, placing her finger to the label as she peered at it with much more curiosity. With no one around she could afford to be a little more frivolous, there was no one to judge her not really...So if she'd genuinely heard what she thought she heard then...
"Hmm..." she took her eyes off the orchid, missing the cat entirely in the process as she regarded the label. "I wonder if you are the one," she mused thoughtfully. Sure, it probably hadn't literally called out to her but it was strange how these things went sometimes.
"Not that I've ever heard flowers say 'psst' before but maybe I have been working a little too hard lately."

Okay, so she was talking to a plant. It wasn't exactly on the mark, but if she was willing to talk to a plant, a alien that looked like a cat might not be that hard after all. Really, as long as he could keep her from screaming in a store then that was half the battle really.
"A little lower dear, but please. Do not freak out. You are not going crazy. This is a special message from the cosmos to you." He said, throwing out a disclaimer in hopes that she took anything from that seriously enough to decide to listen to the universe and in turn listen to the cat that would be its mouthpiece.
Honestly, he wished he could just be humanoid more often but as far as the range of the Earthian Animal kingdom went, a cat wasn't a bad pick. It would be much harder to make this point if he was a horse or a sloth.
"To the cat." He specified as he moved out from the fern and gave a little ppurrttt.

The flower answered her, or at least she had assumed it was the flower until the voice had been more specific and directed her to look elsewhere. A bemused expression lined her features as she did as she was told and cast her gaze downwards to wards the now visible cat. Admittedly he may have been hidden before but he wouldn't have been impossible to see, she simply hadn't been as observant as some might have liked.
A moment or two of silence followed as she took in what she was seeing (and hearing); if there was ever a moment when someone might think they were working too hard it was likely to be now. Between flowers and animals talking to her it was safe to assume that something wasn't quite right... And what had he said about the cosmos?
"Would it be a message that involves a vacation?" she hazarded. As she had already been prepared to chat with a flower she had opted to commit herself to the conversation. Beyond some passerby wandering passed to look at flowers of their own, the most they would see was a woman speaking with a cat and that wasn't entirely abnormal... If all else failed she could utilise the baby voice that people always did when they encountered cute animals.
"Because I'm pretty sure you shouldn't be able to talk," she added.
Still, she did afford a moment to lower herself to a squatting position so that she could get a better look at him. He didn't seem abnormal, her creative imagination aside he looked like any other cat to her.

Arthur shook his head. "Sadly not. I think I have come bearing more work for you, but I promise it will have some highlights if you don't turn your back to who you are." He said as he looked around.
"Cats can't talk. I'm not a cat. You can call me Arthur. I'm a guardian cat, but we can talk more freely if we find somewhere less....out in the open. Makes you seem more sane." He said, looking about and moving up to her before checking the place out.
"Let us go down to the end. Where the larger trees are." He said, moving past her and down the aisles.
The back area was more for landscaping companies to place orders and load up larger plants and pallets of whatever was needed. The saplings were easy for the normal person with a van but a half grown tree didn't have as many window shoppers and had coverage.
Moving through the trees, he found a corner completely covered with large, blooming trees. It smelled sweet and he took a moment to take it in before turning about waiting for his no doubt questioning associate.
"I'm sure you have many questions."

He wasn't a cat and yet his name literally had cat in it? Lily afforded a mild lift of her brow at this. In a manner of speaking she supposed that it made sense he wouldn't be a cat, particularly if he could talk, but then what was he?
...Other than a figment of her imagination, of course.
Before she could muster any coherent questions the now named 'Arthur' had already disappeared into one of the more obscure and isolated parts of the center. Admittedly this was definitely a place she hadn't explored, if only because she'd never had to buy a tree...but given that he had mentioned that he wanted to be less obvious, she supposed that was the wisest location to pick.
It was with a bemused purse of the lips and a mild shrug to no one in particular that the red head did in fact, follow the cat. What else did she have planned for today other than to speculate over which plants best suited her current project? She could humour her imagination for the time being, at least see where this particular adventure took her, and then ponder its significance later. If anything, she might pop by the library later and hunt down one of those psychology books to translate the symbolism that folks saw...
It wasn't long before she was at his side again though and rather than dwell on her own personal musing she peered down at him and shook her head.
"Well that's one way to put it," she agreed. "If you're not a cat then what are you?"
Focus on the important question now, right? She could revisit his remarks regarding work in a moment or two, such was the way she managed her priorities apparently.

"I suppose you would call me an alien though that's a pretty broad term. I'm a Mauvian. From the planet Mau though I was born here. Earth citizens and have a fake ID to prove it." He said with a amused little smirk - which was a thing to see purposely done on a cat's features.
"My job is to awaken and guide senshi. Senshi is what the media has been calling those gangs and terrorist in the city these past years though that's a lie. You see, since I wake up senshi, it's my job to find senshi. Imagine, if you will, having a little tingling radar in your head that gets set off whenever you are near a certain person. Well, today it just so happens my radar went off lead me to you."
"You see, I have the honor today to wake the other side inside you. A warrior here to fight against the chaotic forces trying to take over this city and this planet. As is my duty like I said. It will take a moment, but I want to tell you up front what will happen before we start. We don't have much time before someone wonders why you are all the way in the back inspecting the oaks and maples."
Standing, he cleaned a paw and then stood alert and ready. "May I have your name please. I only know the one that comes to mind. The past you, but not the one standing before me."

A Mauvian from the planet Mau, who just conveniently happened to take on the appearance of a feline and was now smirking at her in a manner that she hadn't thought possible of a cat. Yet more 'proof' that he may not be what he initially seemed (if the talking hadn't already given him away). However it was the rest of what he said that had her eyebrow raising sky high - so the cat had come to her with the intention of informing her that she was a closet terrorist?
She'd read her fair share of news articles in regards to the activity but very little of it had seemed favourable; now he was telling her that it was her destiny to become a part of that?
"Would the definition of a terrorist be chaotic...?" she asked curiously and shook her head. She was supposed to battle these peculiar forces of chaos and yet she was the chaos? It all seemed a bit backwards, but there was a niggling in her head that kept bothering her. She'd seen it before in the news, particularly in other nations where things had been carefully constructed to provide a very specific narrative. Who was to say that this wasn't one o those cases and she had been living in ignorance?
"It's Liliane," she said finally and glanced briefly over her shoulder as he made a valid point, it wouldn't be long before some sort of staff member came down to ask the anticipated 'are you all right?' query in the hopes of a sale. Fortunately Lily would be giving them a sale but it certainly wouldn't be a giant tree that she had no way of fitting onto the window sill of her apartment.
"Benson, Liliane Benson... Or just Lily." She shook her head. "Actually, call me Lily," she finished. She'd sooner people used a more informal manner of address, calling her by her full name just reminded her of all those times she'd been up to mischief and her parents had caught her red handed!
"And what was that about a past life?"
There was a brief pause.
"And are you, a talking cat, attempting to get me to join some sort of cult?" she added, though based on her tone it seemed she was curious rather than genuinely concerned.

"Everything can be considered chaotic depending on outlook. What I am meaning is chaotic energies. Where one pulls their own power. A balancing act of good and evil. Creation and destruction. Order and chaos. That kind." He specified. "I'll explain all the specifics as we continue along."
"Liliane, we are not a cult. Also, this will be the only time I refer to your real name. From this point on, do not give senshi g or other agents you meet anything that links you to the identity and life you have now. It would be dangerous for your very life. Once you have your senshi name, that new one will be how you introduce yourself to your enemies and friends. Only show who you are on the streets to your close friends you will make. The ones you trust with your life." He warned.
"We can talk past lives somewhere else. It's a bit of a mouth full and our time here is precious."
Shaking his body, he desummonef his glasses which appeared to just vanish. "Just need to angle this a bit. Not as young as I used to be. Always throws my back out a bit." He said as he found a bit of space and, resting up his back end, ran and did a very elaborate series of flips in the air before he landed - along with 2 items which appeared to have just dropped from the cat's nonexistent pockets.
Arching his back in, he huffed. "That's rough. Alright." He moved to the items. "This is your henshin pen. It will be how you transform from who you are now to who you are inside. The other is just a pair of glasses. Non prescription. Stylish if I do say so myself." They were a pair of gold rimmed glasses with star accents. The pen had a peculiar design atop it.
"You can't loose the pen but never give it to anyone." He stressed. "Now take it and raise it up high. I will tell you what to say."

So there were more of these senshi then; she supposed that made sense. The so-called terrorist attacks on particular locations would probably have to have more than one individual present. That being said, she couldn't quite shift the feeling that he was talking about magic, and while she was all for an adventure she hadn't really delved in to those themes since she was in her early teens!
Her lips pursed and she waited patiently for him to right himself following what had clearly been a challenge for him. He was pretty acrobatic for a cat, she knew they were always quite agile but several circus-like flips were something else entirely.
...Perhaps he was an alien after all.
It would have been a lie to say she wasn't more interested in the glasses than the pin originally, but she'd picked up that he was here on business and her idle distractions weren't likely to be appreciated. With this in mind she had crouched down to collect both items and took a moment to inspect the 'pen' more closely. It looked like, well, a pen... But it had a small number of adornments atop that set it apart. Had she walked passed someone with one of these in the street she'd have assumed it was a novelty one; cute, but still a novelty.
"All right," she said finally as she stood back up. She then lifted her right arm, pen held aloft, with considerably more gusto than may have been expected from someone who seemed a tad skeptical at the beginning. "Now...?"

It became serious now but appreciated her willingness to give this all a shot. Some never tried, felt too silly, or were too nervous. The first step was a hard obstacles to get across. To entertain the idea that there really was magic.
"I want you to focus. There is a power inside of you. Inside all of us is a starseed. It is our being. Yours calls to the power of your planet. Andorea. It has been calling to you. This pen will help open the door to hearing it's call."
It stepped back. "Say these words and call to your planet."
It focused on her as it stood ready.
"Sailor Adorea Make Up."

To be quite honest she'd done weirder stuff than this, she was one of those people who would happily volunteer themselves during a stage act if needed. Therefore, when it came to repeating the 'cat's' instructions, she didn't find it particularly difficult. No sooner had he spoken the words than she found herself repeating them... though they were said in a normal tone rather than with any form of drama or flare.
"Sailor Adorea Make Up?"
It had come out as more of a query, one that had come from someone who had no idea what to expect. Nevertheless this had been answered and she was soon engulfed in a lilac glow. It wove up her legs, curled around her finger tips and swept onwards and upwards towards her face. By the time these 'magic words' had finished she found herself in an outfit which definitely wasn't what she had come in with.
"Well...There you go," she remarked in a tone of wonder.
"It's quite snug, isn't it?" she added as she tugged at her new suit and lifted up her foot to inspect the heel. It wasn't exactly her normal style, that was for sure, anyone who knew her would have a hard time picturing her in this!

Arthur beamed, moving over to circle about the senshi and inspect her outfit.
"It is always a surprise to me of what I will see when one of you powers up. I have seen all manner of outfits. Some look like ball gown. Others have miniskirts. Heels. Boots. Shirt. Shirtless." He listed as he moved to face her.
"Ah well, we can't really decide on how our uniform looks. Mine is a bit snug on the features too. But they are a good protection. Looking as Adore, not even your family would recognize you. Consider it an invisible magic smoke screen. But try not to strut through town and keep a low profile. And watch out for cops." He warned as he sat down and groomed a paw.
"Right now, the power you hold gives off a signatures to other. Senshi and Knights who are your allies. The Negaverse and the Dark Moon Court who mean you and this planet harm. The longer you are out like this, the more someone can find you. Good or bad. Only wear your uniform away from your home and when you intend to go on a patrol. I can explain the mechanics to you later."
Finished with hair paw, Arthur adjusted his glasses. "Now power down. Think about Lily. How she looks and is dressed. Your uniform will disappear and you will be back to your old self."

"Just as well I wasn't shirtless," she mused and pursed her lips, that would have made for quite the sight. That being said she couldn't quite shake the fact that it really was different than she was used to. How come the others got skirts, heels and a general sense of style while she had landed herself with the equivalent of a jump suit?
Nevertheless Arthur was continuing to explain the nature of her transformation and she glanced down at her attire again with renewed interest. In a literal sense she certainly wouldn't have been recognised based on style alone but the added layer of magic associated with it made it abundantly clear that unless she told someone who she was then she'd never get caught.
"So if I don't look like this then they can't figure out that I'm...well, this?" she asked.
She assumed he would answer her momentarily and with that in mind, she took a breath and pictured herself back in her normal clothing. She'd been in a summer dress before, quite fitted in the torso but puffed out at the bottom. Slightly pleated with the slightest hint of polka dots underneath the folds... And then sure enough, she found herself back in what she had originally been wearing. There'd been no song or dance, no special flourishes, the uniform seemed to have just slipped away in a breeze and been replaced by normalcy.
Neat.
"Not going to lie I think I have far more questions than I expected to have at this point," she admitted. He'd said simple enough phrases, but the significance had been largely lost on her. An interrogation may have been necessary in the near future.

"You could be a world-renowned celebrity but the moment you change into a senshi, not even your biggest fan would know who you are. Not until you tell them a d the magic is lifted. It's like giving them the password to see the real you." The a Angora explained.
"As for question and answer, how about we find a quiet, private place. There is St. Andrew's park about 4 blocks from here. There is a art sculpture of a bird there. How about we meet there tonight if that works for you. I'd like to show you exactly what you can do but there is too many eyes in most places. Does that work for you?" The guardian asked.
