Sailor Echo yawned in boredom from her cozy little roost she had made for herself as it was slowly getting dark. Though she enjoyed watching the busy night life of Destiny City, she knew the crowded area left for little to no action. She didn't even have a terribly busy day at school, but she wanted to just relax a bit before the weekend picked up. Plus at least the sunset was pretty, it was better than being stuck inside the rest of the night.
Sighing, Echo decided to take a chance, she summoned a few pieces of paper. Taking her time to fold them into the different types of paper airplanes she could remember.
Echo took out a pen she kept in her 'space pocket', taking that cap off with her mouth and leaning over to write on one of the planes. Lets be a better Senshi this year. She gave a half-hearted smile, replacing the pen cap and sending the plane off.

Toby was hurrying along, a rare situation of moving through the city alone and unpowered. He didn’t have any specific reason for not powering up. Mostly just that he’d been texting somebody, and it’s slightly more awkward to text while powered up than just going down the street. Right after sending a text (consisting of three emoji), he looked up to see...a paper airplane drifting down from above. Naturally, he grabbed it and looked around for who might have thrown it. There were other people around, although none seemed especially attuned to the presence of an airplane. So, of course, he looked at it, and noticed there was writing on it: Let’s be a better Senshi this year.” He blinked, and stared, making sure he didn’t misread that. Nope. Definitely said “senshi.” So now he looked up instead of around...and still didn’t spot somebody. But that didn’t mean anything. Curiosity now overtaking him, he adjusted his course, and dropped out of sight before powering up—now he had a homing beacon right to the one who likely threw that! And so, he made his way up to the Senshi. It was a little dark up there, so he couldn’t quite see who it was, although he was certainly sufficiently lit. “Hey there,” he said with a smile, and held up the airplane. “I think I found your plane.”

Echo was getting ready to send off another plane when she suddenly felt another powered energy pretty much right on top of her. Feeling her heart race she tired to quickly think of something to do as it made it's way to her. She could take the chance that if it was a Negaverse member or otherwise, that they wouldn't attack her right away but then what if they did? Plus at least if it was another Senshi, she could just ask for forgiveness or a free hit in return. She was defiantly regretting writing senshi on the plan but she was trying to make some better wishes for herself. Maybe, just maybe, sending them out into the world would be able to help them come true? She took a deep breathe in, counting... 1..2..3..4..5..6- A voice from behind. Not that it sounded evil but she wanted to act quickly. Echo swept herself around from her seated spot, readily sending paper towards the other person. "Tsk!" About eight pieces of sharp paper flying off towards the boy. When Echo's eyes where finally making contact on her target. Ugh, her perfectly lit up target. She gasped, only being able to hope her paper wasn't able to make contact, "Oh no! Nix!"

After his greeting, Nix found himself suddenly assailed by a squadron paper airplanes! He leaped backward to get out of the way and realized they weren’t planes, just papers. He heard the surprised gasp of his name and peeked back again. “Hiya!” He replied cheerfully. “Sorry, I guess I startled you popping up so quick, huh? You okay up here?”

A sigh of relief as Echo stepped out into the light looking a bit sheepish, just realizing just how dark her little spot had been. She was just glad he was ok though. "Oh, y-yeah, I'm fine." She gave a half hearted smile and a small wave. "Just trying to get back into the swing of things before summer get here." A heavy sigh now as she tapped her heel underneath her a bit. "Can you believe yesterday was my two year anniversary? Since becoming Echo, I mean."

“Two years?” Nix echoed. “Wow, uh...happy anniversary, I guess?” He suggested with a small smile. “I’ve been Nix for, uh,” he paused to think, looking up. “Let’s see...Almost a year and a half. Yeah, that sounds right.” He nodded. “The world’s a lot stranger of a place now, isn’t it? Or, at least... seems like it. Since we’re involved.” “What have you been up to?”

"Thank you." Echo laughed, wishing she would have done more in those two years instead of hiding away using school as reasoning but it's not like she could go back and change things, so might as well live with it. She couldn't help but be a bit surprised at his comment though, it felt like he had been a Senshi much longer than that. Then again she guess it just had to do with how you carried yourself and spent your free time.
She gave a nod back. "It's strange isn't it? This second world.." A small sigh as she shifted gears, trying to think of what she should even tell him. Her thoughts had been heavy lately, trying to plan more for the future while going down this path.
"Well..not much I guess. Got my butt kicked back in September, so I took the time to focus on the holidays and stuff." She shifted her weight and crossed her arms. "I'm thinking of.. I think I'm gonna get a job this summer. Try to talk my parents into moving away and letting me stay here alone. .. I know it'll be hard and we're so young but..I've been taking care of myself most of my life anyway. I need them to be safe."
She smiled awkwardly.
"Sorry bit of a ramble there.."

“You know, I never thought of trying to get my parents to leave,” Nix admitted. “It might be a good idea, but...I dunno. Having support’s important. And most people in town are reasonably safe. Erm...” he trailed off, thinking about various entirely random bad things he’d witnessed. Not TOO many, but thinking about them happening to his family or friends...again...not cool. He shook his head. “But you’re right. That’s not always enough. Uh, if you need help, I’m happy to help!” He nodded. “I’m probably better at helping with senshi stuff than life stuff, though...”

Echo gave a wary smile, he was right and maybe she was overreacting. Despite having her hobby of skateboarding as a good cover up for the cuts and bruises she received as a Senshi, they knew something was up. Then when her hair was cut, how do you explain that? Some random person ran up and did it? Bubblegum at school? She wanted to sigh but didn't want Nix to take it the wrong way either. She crinkled her brow thinking of a way to say what she needed without giving up too much of her personal life. So she twisted it a bit. "They like to travel a lot, so I think even though it's only been two years, they're looking to move on..but I just can't leave knowing what I know now." A nod, a more true smile now. "Thank you though. I'll try to remember to reach out more too." She grinned, "Maybe I should look into getting a roommate too." Connie laughed. "So what about you? keeping yourself safe?"

“Hmm, well,” Nix said thoughtfully. “You could try talking your parents into enrolling you in one of the boarding schools here?” He shrugged. “Then you’d be able to stay here, and they can go somewhere less, uh... monster-filled?” Not the greatest plan, but it was better than nothing, he thought. And probably easier for a parent to swallow than letting their kid live alone. “Safe?” He echoed, and laughed lightly. “Maybe not so much that...I mean, I spend my time literally jumping off buildings, so, uh, probably not the safest. But I still help everybody train all the time, so,” he lifts his hands to the side for a moment. “I guess reasonably safe? I fight the bad guys now and then, but, uh, you know, there’s only so much you can do.”

Echo gave a thoughtful nod, deciding she would need to look into it. As much as she loved being able to study science, if changing schools would be her ticket to staying, it's something she would have to consider. She would love if they could just make Destiny City less monster filled but who knows how long that would take. She didn't want to dwell on it too long though, that could lead to some pretty negative stuff after all. She felt a bit like an anime character with the big ol' awkward sweat drop when Nix echoed the word safe back to her. Of course she should've known better. Echo had even just told him how she got beat up herself. "Pfft. Ugh." "Well as safe as we can be.." Echo laughed, "As for that training though. I should really do more that. It's hard to fight when your power is over paper."

"There's more to being a senshi than just your magic, ya know," Nix said, and bounced on the balls of his feet (the ones everybody has, not just the ones his boots display). "We're also stronger and faster...even if not quite as much as the knights and negaversers...it's still nothing to sneeze at!" "Besides," he added with a grin. "Used right, even paper can be really tough to deal with. I'm just glad I've got my suit to protect me from paper cuts--I think some of 'em brushed me on the leg."

Echo couldn't help but laugh and grin back. He was right, the super-power type quilties did help soften the blow a bit. Plus she knew her powers could only grow.
"Maybe if they were a bit easier to control.." She lefted her hand into the air, closing one eye as she lined it up so it looked like it was covering his mouth. Echo laughed, her hands going to her hips. "I have two left if you want to test that out.", She teased, sticking out her tongue playfully.

"A couple people have called me crazy for it," Nix replied, "But I love helping people figure out good uses for their magic! Even if it means blasting it at me." He put a hand in front of his face, "Though, I'd think you to try to avoid poking my eyes with paper." "Wouldn't it be cool if you could figure out how to fold them as they fly around?"

Echo made a questioning face. "Why is that crazy? Plus shouldn't helping people be our first job in all of this? Even if it's ourselves.." She smiled softly as he covered his face, hoping she'd never have to that far but also knowing she would if someone was attacking her.
His question made her thoughtful though. It's just like she hadn't folded her paper before but it was always outside of battle when coming across another Senshi, playfully. It took up time, making her stop what she was doing to fold the paper. She'd even started to practice origami in her down time to get faster at it.
"How- I mean..I make them move but folding in air without a desk?" She laughed. "I guess using my mind?? I've never really thought about before.. I normally use my hand to guide them, but-"
Echo was giddy about the idea, always wanting to improve herself, but this might just make her brain explode.
