Jean Luc kept his nose inside of the book he was reading, unaware of what was going on around him. It was a mystery novel and he was just about to get to the part where they were going to reveal the bad guy! He was giddy with excitement, feeling the rush of justice and finding out the real bad guy that he could barely sit still! But he also knew that he couldn’t walk around while reading the book too. He had tried that several times already, all of them ending in him running into a wall or someone else. He couldn’t help it though! Books were just so exciting! Especially mystery novels, and he hoped to be a detective just like the ones from these books! He didn’t notice the rest of what the class was doing during “free time” though. He knew he would be scolded as a detective for such a thing, but he was still just a freshling! He had plenty of time to perfect his detecting skills. Unfortunately, today should have been one of those times to pay attention, as he didn’t notice another freshling coming towards him…

SnowLily loved free time, it meant she could paint all she wanted! Even though she was messy and clumsy the teacher never scolded her for it and always praised her artwork.
So excited that "free time" was finally here she jumped up from her desk and was rushing around the room to get all the supplies she needed before sitting down at the easel in the corner of the room.
"Paints, brushes, clean water, apron, paper....should be everything" she thought to herself. Just as she sat down she realized she forgot to get pencils and the charcoal pieces to outline with. She was very careful with these as they made her hands all dirty and smell funny.
Jumping up like a snake bit her she ran to the supply cabinet and pulled out what she needed. Looking down at her hands she did not notice her feet caught the edge of the soft rug that is used for "story time" and down she went. All the supplies in her hands went flying. She landed on her butt as usual and of course the "OWWWW" came out of her mouth before she could stop it. Looking about the room only a few other students saw what happened most of them were used to her falls they knew she was clumsy so they usually went about their school day. Looking the other way she saw a freshling she never saw before in the corner reading some sort of book.
The art supplies were scattered about their feet and sides but it seemed they did not notice. Grinning to herself she pushed to her feet and walked over.
"Excuse me but do you mind if I get my art supplies? I uh....well I sorta kinda fell and they went everywhere" with that she chuckled.

Jean had no clue that any art supplies had gone near his feet, so when he was addressed, it spooked him a bit, a surprise squeak coming out of his mouth. But when he was able to look at the situation a bit more, he could see that it was just one of his classmates who had asked him about some art supplies that had scattered. Taking a look at the floor, Jean realized that there were indeed, he saw some at his feet. "Oh!" Was all he could say, before he carefully stood up and moved his chair out of the way. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize! Do you need any help picking them up?" He asked, concerned that the other freshling may not have the room to pick them up. "I should have realized it earlier." His ears drooped in response. He had been so absorbed in his book, that he hadn't noticed!

SnowLily was trying not to rub her backside but it was hurting her still due to her usual clumsy self! The freshling in front of her seemed concerned about the supplies being near them as if it was a bother for her to pick them up.
Tilting her head to the side she noticed their ears drooped as if upset. That made SnowLily feel bad.
"I'm sorry to have bothered your reading time, I am just very clumsy. If I have anything in my hands when I am walking they will usually go flying in one direction or another" she laughed. Looking at them she realized this young freshling was a boy and he seemed shy. "My name is SnowLily but everyone usually calls me Clumsy! I don't mind I know I am clumsy so don't mind me if I come over a few more times to gather up supplies or something I dropped while walking" she said with a twinkle in her eyes.
Bending down slowly she realized that was not good so she sat down instead and began to gather the supplies. The little charcoal pieces seemed to go everywhere, and it was a hassle to pick them up. Some even broke in half! The teacher would be upset with her again and she hated that. She really liked the teacher. Sighing to herself she looked up and asked "Will you help me please? I want to get these supplies off the floor before the teacher comes over and has another one of her "you are to clumsy" lectures, I just don't want to hear it today" as she waited for a reply she picked up a few more pieces.

Jean couldn’t help but be curious. “Clumsy? I wonder why that is?” Was it balancing issues? Dexterity? Something else?! He knew it could happen from other problems in the mind but… Well, this wasn’t the time to think like that! “They call you Clumsy? That’s not a very nice name! Even if you are a bit clumsy. I think that’s just not right.” He wanted to go over and lecture whoever was calling her that, but he didn’t know who they were, so being mad wasn’t going to help anything. “I’m Jean Luc! But you can call me Jean.” He said introducing himself. At least he had the other’s name now! He quickly hurried to help her with gathering the art pieces. “Sure! That’s no problem! I wouldn’t want to be lectured either! And how would that help with being clumsy? It’s not like you’re that way on purpose! The teacher doesn’t seem to be very helpful.” What was the point of the teacher teaching if they couldn’t even realize that when someone was a certain way, they may not be able to help it?!

She looked up in surprise as he said her nickname was not a nice name. He seemed to be defending her but was not sure how to do it.
"It's true I am very clumsy. I even trip over my feet when I am sleeping" she laughed. "I don't mind the nickname it is true and they could call me something really mean. I know it's all in good fun!" with that said she reached under the table and began to scoot forward to get the pieces of charcoal that somehow got underneath it.
"Urggggghhh this is not working, there are several pieces against the wall and I can not get them. The table is to big to move and the teacher will surely notice I am not at my designated spot" she said in a rush. She hated] making the teacher upset she was so nice to her. She said to her one day "You are clumsy but you are perfect the way you are' with that SnowLily felt for once in her life someone actually cared for her.
"Do you have any ideas how to get these pieces?" she asked Jean. She began to fiddle with her hands as she tended to do when upset.W/C: 208 Total: 793

Jean just raised an eyebrow in response. He doubted that it was all in good fun, and if others, like he, heard the "nickname" without any context attached to it, well, they might think the same thing as he did. But he decided to keep his mouth shut. If one wanted to be a good detective, one had to learn which battles to pick! And this was not one of those! "Against the wall? We could try a ruler!" He said, picking one up and getting underneath the table with her. "If it fits it could be used as a longer, skinnier arm to get the pieces." He said, trying to give it to her, though with how little room there was to maneuver underneath the table, it might be hard to even given the ruler to her!

SnowLily noticed his eyebrow was raised when he spoke as if confused or wanted to say more but didn't. She wanted to ask but did not want to seem rude so she kept silent.
She slid backwards a little bit to give him room since he seemed to know what to do. She did not see a book on the floor and of course she slid right into it causing her to yelp. Her cheeks were pink with embarassment.
"Im sorry, I...I think I destroyed your book. I am so so sorry, being clumsy I can't help it!" with that she turned her face away.
His voice suddenly was heard talking about a ruler. She turned and saw the ruler in his hand and he seemed to be trying to get under the table with her but she backed out to give him room. He was being nice to her and that was a change from most of the others in the class. She knew they were not mean just uneasy about her being clumsy. She had destroyed several art pieces, crayons, books and someones snack with her clumsiness.
Sighing she turned back and said "Think it will work?" as she got back down to inch her way under the table.

Jean took a quick look at her book and wanted to shrug, but if he did, he would have hit the table with his shoulders. "You didn't destroy it. And if you did, then it wasn't a very sturdy book now was it? Even if it's a bit bent it's still readable!" It would have been different if say, the pages had been ripped out and shredded. Then it definitely wouldn't have been readable! But he made sure to move the book out of the way, just in case. He crawled a bit forward, and looked down to see where the pieces were, and used the ruler to get behind them and bring the pieces forward, until he had all of them! he gathered them up, got out from underneath the table, and made sure to put the pieces in a bowl so that they wouldn't escape as easily. "Here you go! I think that's all of them!" He said, holding the bowl out to her. "Though if you do think you're that clumsy, perhaps you should get something with a lid? That way if you trip, then the pieces will stay inside and that way you won't have to be crawling around looking for them again!" He said, trying to give her some tips. "Though if you already do that then I'd keep doing it!"

Smiling at his reply to her accidently messing up the book she felt happy again.
She watched as he crawled back under the table to help her get the pieces of charcoal. He was quick in getting them but he was smart and he had a bowl to put them in.
He handed her the bowl and as he did a suggestion was to get a lid if she thinks she is that clumsy. She laughed she was that clumsy but to be honest she knew it. It sometimes bothered her sometimes it did not. Today it was both and she was glad he did not seem to mind at all. He was nice to her and even helped her.
She took the bowl gingerly and said "Thank you! Now the teacher won't be to mad at me for breaking the charcoal again. I love using all the stuff to create art but I do try to be careful but usually I do something to make me fall or trip or something" she giggled.
"I hope you can get back to your story and I did not bother you to much" with that she hopped up and walked back to her stool to finish up her art project she was working on. W/C: 212 Total W/C: 1216

Jean nodded to her. “It was no trouble! I’m happy to help those in need!” And he liked the puzzle aspect of it too. How was one supposed to go and get the pieces in such a small space? A ruler? And he was glad that they had one too! Though he would have gone and asked the teacher for one if need be. And if she had blamed Snowlily for her clumsiness again, he would have defended her. Still, it had all been solved without much trouble and without much effort too! Which was a bit disappointing, but at the same time, it meant that he could get back to his book that much quicker! And upon inspection, it was now bent a little, but nothing that would make it unreadable. He nodded to her. “I should be able to! And you’re fine! It was no trouble at all!” He said as he watched her go back to the stool that she had been sitting on, making sure that she wouldn’t drop anything again, and when she safely made it back, went to sit at the table he was at and flatten the book a bit so that it wouldn’t be sticking everywhere. He then went to bury himself once again in mystery!
