Jason had been focused on months, preparing for this day. He had sought a lot of advice from the people in his life. Even his own parents. It was a big decision after all, they had a right to know about it, rather then just hear about it with an updated online profile somewhere. It had involved a lot of sneaking around and closing his laptop when Nischal entered a room. There was no way his lover wasn't suspicious that something was going on. And before he could ask what that was, Jason had to put his plans into motion.
It was the perfect day to put his plan into action. Nischal had classes and Jason had made up an excuse to miss out on his for the day. Most of his class loads were just projects anyway, things he could work on from home without having to actually sit in a stiff classroom, full of buzzing and distracting noises all around him. Xi-Wang was in on his plan, so he was conveniently away from the apartment for the day as well. Once Nischal was out the door, Jason set about pulling out boxes he had stored full of decorations from one of the spare bedrooms. It was easy enough to hide things in their huge apartment.
He set up candles, streamers, a custom made banner, and even went out for some fresh roses (the bedroom was covered in rose pedals for later). He sent a quick text to Nischal to remind him when he was coming home. Making some excuse that he wanted to have dinner ready, though dinner would probably just end up being take out because of reasons.
The last thing he did was dress up. Nothing too fancy, just a nice blue blazer and some silver-grey khakis. His hair was tamed as best he could and he even wore a loose tie. In his blazer pocket was a small box with two rings inside, a matching set for them.
Once he got the news that the love of his life was on the way home, he hovered, maybe a bit nervously, around the entrance to their apartment. Of course, the real show involved his guitar that he had slung around his shoulder.
When he heard the elevator ding, all those nerves went away though. This was it. Even before the door opened he was already beginning his song. He had debated forever over a long list of love songs he could cover and had maybe fiddled with his own. In the end he had decided on something simple, that he hoped got his feeling across. When the door finally opened he smiled and started to sing.
"I need, Baby I need your love right now~"

School was a huge step for Nischal these past few months. He had finished high school from his RV a few years ago, and the idea of going to a classroom had brought him immense anxiety. He knew he was no good around people as ‘Nischal’. While Avior had power to back his actions, Nischal was just some awkward rich kid who got flustered easily when not around people he knew.
Over time, with the support of his beloved Jason, he had gotten used to their schedule. School, homework, go home and be embraced by his lover and told he was doing amazing.
That simple contact was enough to keep his stress levels low. At least that was the cause until just recently.
Jason wasn’t very good at being subtle, and day by day it felt like Jason was hiding something really important from him. Bit by bit, Nischal got worried... It didn’t seem like he was cheating on him, or planning on leaving him. They both seemed very happy together in their apartment, along with Xi-wang who was more than welcomed to stay with them. Anything negative that could cross his mind as to what Jason was doing made no sense...
They were happy. There was no denying they were content.
... And yet that unease still settled heavy in his gut.
After one particularly long school day, Nischal headed him, texting Jason to let him know he was on his way home. Maybe today would be the day he could ask the other exactly what was going on, to relieve that worry in his heart.
And then get spoiled by a home cooked meal.
The elevator dropped him of inside of his apartment, and he was suddenly greeted with that sweet, gentle crooning from the most important person in his life.
For a moment, he was stunned, stumbling out of the elevator before it threatened to close him in again, then just stared in loving awe at Jason. All around him was decorated, banners, candles, streamers... Was this for his Birthday? Or to make up for the Valentine’s Day they were far too busy for this year?
Either way, the stood there, a bright red blush coming across his face, silent but visibly thrilled with the music and that sweet smile his lover had.

Jason's smile only brighten when Nischal was stunned, but he kept on singing, kept on showing his love until the song was finally over. He slipped the guitar strap over his head and turned around for just one moment to place her down on the couch behind him. Then he stood and closed the distance between them.
"I know I've been a little....weird lately. But it was all so that today would go so well. So perfect, I hope anyway." He gave Nischal a gentle kiss, just a little taste of what he hoped would come later. He took a small step back and reached into his blazer pocket, revealing the ring box that was inside. There was no way he wouldn't know what was happening now.
"Now...I know this is probably really cheesy, but I want to do this right..." He bent down on one knee, opened the box with their matching set of rings, the heart shape shared between the two clearly visible, and after one final deep breath he asked, "It doesn't have to be soon. I just want you to know that I always want to be with you. I've felt that way for a while now. So, Nischal, will you marry me?" It was asked with confidence, love, and a surprisingly red face. He told himself thousands as he was preparing for this that there was no reason to be shy. But, that was just how he was.

The moment the song was over, Nischal wanted to simply throw his arms about his lover’s shoulders and pull him close.
Whatever uncertainty that plagued him before was gone, and his heart melted even now, while Jason put his sweet girl down. It was becoming clearer with each moment that passed, the words, the kiss, the... The ring box.
A few tears were beginning to form in his eyes now, and he pushed up his glasses to quickly wipe them away as Jason bent down on one knee.
It was a fairy tale, a dream... Years and years of suffering, of thinking that he’d never be anything but alone, had been slow erased with each moment he and Jason had been together... All cumulating to this point where, in his heart, he knew he’d never be alone again.
“Jason, I-“ His voice cracked a little, tears quickly building more and more as he laughed just a little at what felt like his own foolishness. The bag on his shoulder was dropped, and he lowered himself to his knees as well, those strong arms wrapping around his lover as tightly as he could.
“For as long as I’ve known you, you’ve been my hope. My happiness, my will to keep on fighting.” He whispered into the young man’s ear, trying hard not to let his voice crack any further. “Whether tomorrow, or next week or a year from now, yes, please! I want nothing more than to be yours forever, and to make this life I was given something I can treasure forever, thanks to you..”

As soon as Nischal started to tear up, Jason's own eyes got a little blurry. He knew what Nischal had been through to end up here, knew how much this meant for the both of them. It was hard to imagine something like this would ever happen for himself. He would do everything he could to make his lover happy, for the rest of his life Nischal would be the reason he did anything. The reason he worked hard. The reason he fought hard in an unseen war. The reason he lived.
His own arms wrapped around Nischal, giving him a tight squeeze, only pull away to look into his eyes as he spoke. Jason knew there was no way he'd say 'no', but the way he said yes melted his heart. His lover was the best, most thoughtful, man in the world.
"You'll always be my greatest treasure. I love you, so much." He had to clear his throat after that, because the tears had really started then. He was just so happy he couldn't contain himself. "So, let me put this ring on your finger already. I want everyone to know you're taken so they don't start any funny business." He pulled his arms back around and removed the one of the rings from the box. Then, gently holding Nischal's hand he slide the ring into place, happy that it fit perfectly.
"I hope you like them. I spent forever picking them out. I didn't want anything too flashy, but I knew I wanted them to be unique." And with that, there was one ring left in the box. "Would you do me the honor of slipping mine on as well?"

"You spoil me with your words..." His own little chuckle broke through the half-sob he was fighting back as he reached up to further wipe away the tears that had started to run down Jason's cheek. It was such an overwhelming sense of happiness, it only made sense that the floodgates of tears would overcome them both.
Nischal said nothing more as his lover slipped that ring onto his finger. And he remained silent as he took the other ring between his fingers. There was a pause though, not one of uncertainty, but of fondness, mesmerized by the lovely colors and the heart that formed when the two rings were pushed together.
"I love them... It feels like you knew exactly how I felt, that without you, I wouldn't be complete." He gently pulled his darling's hand to his lips, kiss after kiss pressed to those pale fingertips, until he allowed himself to slip the ring on.
"There... A promise to wed... And a promise to never leave your side." Fingers laced together with Jason's own, gaze locked on to the other's. "I love you..."

Jason was so relieved that Nischal approved on them. Today would have happened much sooner if he could have settled on a ring design. He must have sifted through dozens of catalogs, both online and in person at the stores. After he made that decision, everything else fell into place easily.
"I'm really glad you like them." He was able to calm himself down, though his face remained flushed as Nischal took his time placing gentle kisses on his fingers. He kept finding new ways to be so kind and sincere with his feelings. Sometimes Jason wonders how he could do that with such a straight face. And then, just as gentle, the ring was slid into place.
"Mmm, you're stuck with me forever now. I know you're up to the task though." He stared at their hands for a moment, the ring on his finger. As tempting as it had been to try it on before, he had wanted to wait for Nischal to wear his as well. He was so very happy in that moment. "I love you too."
He finally met the beautiful, golden gaze staring at him and he just smiled. It was gentle at first, then turned into something more playful. "So, dinner was a lie. I figured we could order some pizza or something later. But for now, I spent a lot of time decorating the bedroom as well. Would you like to see it?"

"Well, if stuck with you is my fate then I whole-heartedly accept it. I could think of no better bliss." Another kiss was pressed to his lover's cheek, trailing down to his neck and lingering there as he could think of nothing else but wanting to drink deep of his beloved's scent.
Everything was so perfect...
Except for dinner, to which the mention of it made his stomach suddenly growl when told it was a lie. If his face wasn't already red, it was now.
"We can most certainly take a look, but dinner would be nice too.. After all, we have our whole lives to explore every inch of one another, do we not? Hmm... But I do wish to see the bedroom, so if you would so kindly show me, I will happily follow you there."

Jason smiled for a moment, but heard the stomach growl and realized he had made a mistake. He was never great with multi tasking and so all the decorations took and planning took up more of his time then he would like to admit. But he instantly pulled out his phone and with one had he opened up the pizza app and the other he lead Nischal down the hall and into the bedroom.
"Ordering pizza right now, it'll be here in like 20 to 30 minutes and after that we can make use of all of this." He swung the door open and the only light came from candles and rose petals were all over the place. It was a magical look, but he could wait until after some dinner to dive into a well loved dessert.
"So this'll be where we enjoy some dessert, but how about some appetizers before dinner?"

Nischal honestly didn't think he had been gone from the home for that long. How did Jason manage to find time to do all of this? It was incredibly impressive, and the beauty of the room only added to how just blown away he was with this day.
"MMm... That sounds wonderful. You know what I like... But I almost wish dessert could come first." His arms came up to wrap around Jason from behind, burying his nose against his beloved's neck.
"I can do well with some appetizers though... Since you so painstakingly did all of this for me, I'm sure you've prepared those too, yes?"

Jason's hand came up and his fingers ran through Nischal's hair in an inviting manor. He wouldn't mind skipping straight to dessert himself, but with the order already in and all that, it would be better to at least wait until after the delivery. That didn't mean things couldn't get a bit steamy for a moment.
"You were the last piece of the puzzle, love." He realized again just how happy it was. He was sure Nischal would say 'Yes', and yet some part of him at still been worried this wouldn't happen. He spun around in his lovers arms and wraps his own arms around Nischal in return, tilting his head up to deliver a passionate kiss, which was briefly interrupted by him pulling his tie loose and removing it.

The moment that Jason whirled around in his arms, Nischal knew what would happen next could not be stopped.
There was too much love and excitement in the air. Every kiss and touch and sweet sound that came from them was met with an even hungrier response. It was far too easy to get lost in one another's embrace, and even the actual hunger that Nischal felt was immediately forgotten in favor of relishing in Jason's taste.
By the time they died down, the time to receive any food or company had long passed, and they laid there, tired in one another's arms.
The only thoughts that passed through his was his utter contentment.. And just how much he loved his partner..
And perhaps how he should send an apology letter to the pizza place they ordered from for missing their order.
