Moon Glow moved through the woods at an easy pace, nostrils flaring as he took in the scents of night. He loved to travel during the night, especially during a full moon. He wasn't in any particular rush, nor did he have anywhere specific to go. Too many nights on his own had made him restless though, and he thirst for more than water of late.

He froze as he heard a twig snap, ears perking and body shifting lower to the ground. He wanted to call out and ask who was there, but he'd been in too many fights for that sort of thing. He would wait.

Dusk was a creature of solitude. Her life has been lived alone for as long as the black wolf could remember and maybe even before that. Standing as still as a stone she glanced out through her masked face and snarled softly to herself. This area, by all right was her domain. She had marked it as hers, she lived here - what on earth was this foolish wolf thinking, coming into her home unannounced? Not many had strayed up to these parts, and those who did often did not stay for long. Dusk made sure of that.

Her light green eyes flickered back and forth as she followed his movements, ears drawn back in slight discomfort. Who the hell did he think he was? Why was he here?

It was true. She was a creature of solitude, and for good reason.

"You need to leave."

She snapped out at the trespassing male, her tone low and raspy. She did not make her location aware, though, Dusk simply lingered in the shadows. This was her biggest advantage.

s**t. He'd been found out, for sure. He'd been able to tell another wolf roamed this area frequently... but the chances of running into that wolf had seemed slim at the time. Not to mention it seemed less threatening of a presence than say... a pack. So much for the snapped twig being caused by a rabbit or squirrel or something else of little interest to him.

His bright eyes flashed in the moonlight as he rose slowly back to his full height. He was lean but muscular, not very threatening at first glance but he was dangerous enough in his own right. Was he to bid his time as a guiltless, friendly traveler? Perhaps a fierce and foolish male who was prepared to fight? No, the raspy voice sent slight chills down his spine.

Perhaps he should simply leave... but he was feeling somewhat stubborn. A territory wasn't quite a territory if you didn't have a pack to back you up, was it? You were simply a lone wolf, bidding your time before a pack came to claim the area as their own. That was why he liked to keep on the move. "And if I don't?" The words were simple, void of emotion. He turned in a slow circle as he peered into the woods, trying to catch the scent of the speaker.

"That isn't an option."

She snarled aloud, fangs fully flashed, fur standing still. This male was truly an idiot if he thought being a smartass was the best thing to do in this type of situation. She snickered and slowly moved forward, minding where she stepped as if to stay hidden within the dark of the night.

"You are a foolish dog."

She spat. True, perhaps she was currently packless, but that didn't mean she couldn't bluff, a little lie often went a long way, after all.

"I have an army steered and ready for you, boy, just test me."

He'd stayed still for a while, though when she stated it wasn't an option he gave a little smirk. Something like that was always an option, unless she fancied herself some sort of god among wolves. She seemed testy, didn't she? His tail curled slightly over his back.

Testy wolves weren't good. Things were liable to get bloody. Still, the insult irked him. He was foolish? He took in a deep breath of air, still unable to detect scents that would make him conclude a pack was around. Sure, there were some older scents on the air, but not enough to assemble a full pack. "Ah, I see. I'm foolish for trying to slip through an area well used by what I assumed to be a lone wolf, or maybe a mated pair. To go on my way, not meaning to cause anyone trouble. Hmm, yes. You've made it very clear for me." Now he was being sarcastic, his voice thick with it.

"Though the only army I think you could be sending my way would be a ghost army, for all their lack of scents, I think I'll take your first suggestion and go on my way." And the boy bit annoyed him too, he wasn't trying to test anyone. Someone certainly was on edge. Still, he felt himself rooted to the spot. Not because he didn't want to leave, but more because he still wasn't able to see where she, he'd decided it was a female, was. "So why don't you instead test out some good manners and let me on my way, like you've asked? You see I'm no threat."

Ah, but was that true?

"Be gone."

She huffed and wallowed backwards into the dark. He was calling her bluff and this made her very nervous. A lone male could be reckless, harmful even, she just was unsure. Tilting her head to the side the masked female drew herself from the shadows that engulfed her petite frame, stepping out into the moon light, exposing herself to the loner.

"I will not stop you."

Standing still the black females eyes narrowed, awaiting his next move. Perhaps she wanted him to stay, perhaps she was tricking him. Only she knew.

He held in the chuckle that wanted to spill past his paw, half amused with her insistence to do what she said and half annoyed because it was his own choice, he would do what he liked regardless of her words. The more reckless side of him wanted to stay where he was, to test the limits of this female. But the more sensible side said it was wiser to leave, as he said he would do and as she seemed to be begging.

But then, then she showed herself! Just as he took a step forward the movement made the faintest ruffle, and he froze again. His bright eyes zoned in to the noise, and suddenly the she-wolf appeared! She was... smaller than he imagined. Her fur was black as the night that engulfed them, darker even. But what was most interesting, and probably most intimidating about her, was the skull that sat on her snout. Wrapped about her throat loosely was a light colored cloth, much lighter than her fur. The skull though, that was the most interesting part.

It intrigued him, made him wonder what was under it. A tool simply to inspire fear in the enemy? Or a mask to hide away something she did not want the world to see? He made a noise similar to a snort, huffing out of his nostrils, then a slow smirk tugged at his maw. "My my, you're a bit smaller than I imagined." He wasn't trying to mess with her, but he also couldn't help himself. He took another few steps, again glancing at her. "You will not stop me from leaving... does that also mean you will not stop me from staying? After revealing such a... lovely female... how could I make myself go?" His words were not quite sarcastic, indeed her pelt was desirable for those who liked to travel during the night. He certainly did, he imagined it was an advantage. And those eyes! As light as his own, but filled with rage!

What was her story?

Though she was alone she wasn't stupid. Her age had made her cunning and understanding of the fickle male nature. She snorted and lifted her head, standing much taller than before.

"I'm not asking you to stay; don't misunderstand my small kindness."

She almost hissed at him, flashing her fangs in warning to his silly advances. She wasn't interested. Snorting she narrowed her gaze and spoke out again, this time in a much more relaxed tone.

"I simply have no time for games. Do as you wish; stay or go."

It did not much matter to her.

He gave her a have grin an a bark of a laugh, shaking his head slightly. Full of herself. "Kind, sure. I didn't ask if you were asking me to stay, I asked if you simply wouldn't stop me from saying." Ah, this was annoying. It was going in circles, he didn't care anymore.

He shook out his coat turning back the way he'd come. ******** it, he'd just go around her 'territory'. "Enjoy your time alone. An eternity alone with nothing but your miserable self for company." He called out, quite cheerfully in fact. He began to pad back through the woods, already moving quickly.
