Shiroyama inhaled, grinning just a little madly. This was real. It was all real. It hadn't been some strange fever-dream; she really did seem to have some sort of magical powers.
No longer was she just Megumi Himura. She was Shiroyama Page of Mars, powerful and magical and more than she had ever thought she was.
She could feel strange blips around her, almost like an extra sense, and she wasn't quite sure what to make of it. They felt...different, in tingle and in strength, and there was one, not too far from her, that felt...well, powerful.
She began to walk towards it, curious as to what she would find. Others like her? Spots of power? Something else?
All of this was so very new and so very fascinating. Shiroyama loved it.xxxxWhimsical Blue it's been eighty-four years, but as promised, a start!

A shout echoed down the empty street, both fierce and gleeful at the same time. A body flew into the dumpster against the wall and it made an awful banging clang as it was shoved further down the wall from where it had stood since last garbage day.
Tanais ached as she picked herself up off the concrete, dust and grime on her normally shining breast plate. There was a snarl on her sharp, pretty face, but the joy in the expression no doubt made her look wild. She wasn't even aware of the way she grinned, too much of her focus on the hulking beast that snarled and chuffed as it lumbered towards her, running on long, mole-like claws, its shoulders as heavy as any bear.
She gave another shout, knees bent in a defensive stance, and slammed her gauntlets together, flames flickering up from the joints. They flashed and flared, surging up her arms, through her hair, and down her legs, wreathing her in light and flames that danced for a moment before settling in a shape that looked very much like armor. A snarling lion's face, all of fire, covered hers, her red eyes indistinguishable behind the red eyes of the helm.
The Mars knight was a fiery streak as she charged across the space, all but bulldozing the youma as it hesitated, blinking nearsightedly at her. It howled as they connected and she hauled back to hit it with a solid punch, heedless of the claws that cut at her, scraping ineffectually off the surface armor she wore now.
"Not such an easy tidbit, am I?" She laughed at it, shoving a fist into its open, snarling mouth. "How do I taste?"

The sounds of crashing and yelling already had Shiroyama's blood up as she raced towards the sounds of a fight. As Megumi, she wasn't much for streetfights unless she was in a situation where one was inevitable, but there was something about this strange new magical identity that made her feel more comfortable with the possibility.
What she saw, when she came upon the battle, made her gasp.
A woman cloaked in a fiery lion, slamming into a monster.
Magic.
All of this was real, not some strange fever-dream. She couldn't invent this, she was sure.
The woamn looked to have the fight well in hand, but Shiroyama wasn't one to stay on the sidelines, especially not when she'd be helping out someone beautiful and dangerous. She evaluated her options--were she on her own, she might try to climb on its back and get it into some sort of chokehold, but she didn't want to risk the other woman getting her arm bitten off by the thing, even if she seemed to have no fear of that. Instead, Shiroyama prowled closer, getting behind it and reaching out, snagging its thrashing, writhing tail and yanking as hard as she could.

It champed at the arm she had shoved into it's maw, but the jagged teeth it used hit the armor and stopped, as though it were steel rather than flame. She didn't feel it, and laughed at it's frustrated teeth grinding.
The magic that ran through her made her feel giddy, even if only for a short time. She felt powerful like this. Invincible. The monster pulled back and she thought it was going to lunge again, except... it snapped widly, but kept pulling back. Or being pulled back...?
Tanais retrieved her arm and peered around it as it tried to turn at snap at what had it by the tail. A woman had hold of it, pulling with all her might. Not someone Tanais recognized, but when she opened herself to it, she could feel the power from her. Not a lot, but enough to know kindred.
"Don't let it bite you!" She called back, only marginally helpful but wholey entertained. Pulling back a fist, she slammed it into the monster's side, making it howl as something snapped under its flesh. Another fist, another hit... its maw moved lightning fast to snap at her now, seemingly undecided which antagonist to attack first.

Shiroyama took a deep breath. She could feel the adrenaline coursing through her, and as much as she longed to give herself to it, she knew that wasn't the best way to handle this sort of situation. It would mean giving up anything even vaguely related to good judgement--which, she supposed she'd mostly thrown that out the window, but it was nice to pretend she was still capable of a little.
When the other woman gave her advice, Shiroyama nodded sharply.
"Got it! Any advice on how to stop this thing? Does it have some sort of weak spot?" She doubted this was like a video game boss, but perhaps there was still some sort of secret. She also doubted that her little blunt matoya would do anything at all to a vicious, magical mole-beast, which was why she hadn't even bothered pulling it out. For the moment, keeping her grip on the creature's tail and keeping ti confused and distracted seemed the ideal choice.

The mars knight laughed, the sound high and wild, and she threw her arms up in an elaborate shrug.
"Hit it till it explodes?" She called back, dodging snapping jaws. Long claws swiped at her, grating across the magic armor on her side to knock the knight back. She stumbled, but she was quick to recover, getting her feet back under her in a more stable stance.
She couldn't have said if the thing truly had a weak spot... she'd never seen enough youma with them to see a pattern in it, and this one wasn't any more or less armored than any of the others. It was just... big, and mad about it. Stronger than most, certainly, but she was determined, and now she had a lovely partner to help.
Winding herself up, Tanais took two strides and slammed her fist into the thing's face, feeling more of whatever made up its inside crack under the blow. It's howl was deafening so close to it's mouth, but she wound up and hit it again, knocking it's head to the other side and sending it reeling. Lifting both arms over her head, she grasped both hands into a knot and brought the whole of it down on top of it's skull with all the force she could muster... sending it crashing down to crack the concrete under it.
It thrashed brokenly, its movements jerky, before it finally collapsed at last. Tanais had pulled back, preparing to hit it again... and sagged a little as she saw it start to crumble and fall apart before them, dissolving into the ash that made up the youma. She sucked in great gulps as she tried to catch her breath, finally letting herself bend over to brace her hands on her armored knees, the flames about her flickering out to leave her a bit battered and dirty, but triumphant.
"Good job!" She called out, lifting her fist in a thumbs up as she grinned.

Hit it till it explodes. Solid advice, Shiroyama figured, and so she kept one hand gripped on its tail and used the other to make an attempt with her weapon, pulling ti out of her wait and driving it in.
It was over quickly, with the strength the other woman wielded, and when it collapsed, she moved back to give it some space. She wasn't yet familiar with these creatures; for all she knew, they exploded when they died, and this thing seemed to be in its death throes.
Which, well--it didn't explode, no. Instead, it crumbled into dust, and she grinned, putting her free hand on her hip.
"Thanks," she said. "I feel like you did most of the work, though." She regarded the other woman with thoughtful interest as she caught her breath.
"I'm Shiroyama," she said. "And you?"

The knight laughed as she straightened, brushing the dust from her thighs and skirt as she went. It puffed about her and then dispersed, leaving her only marginally cleaner than she'd been. Her state didn't seem to bother her though and her grin was still wide, red eyes still bright. A thought dismissed the gauntlets to reveal clean, linen wrapped hands, and one of them was offered to her fellow Mars knight.
"I'm Tanais." She returned as she inclined her head. "Shiroyama? Unusual name, but lovely, for a lovely lady. Were you patrolling around here? I'm sorry if I interrupted anything important. Or maybe not so sorry, I guess, since I've gotten to meet another Mars knight."
Giving a look about, Tanais waived upwards, towards the top of the nearest building. "Shall we get off the streets before someone yells at us?" She offered. "That is, if you'd like to stick around a little and chat with me."

"It's a mountain, in Japan," Shiroyama explained. "The site of the last battle of the Satsuma Rebellion, where 500 samurai stood against 30,000 Imperial troops. With guns." Shiroyama smiled, wryly. "I imagine you can guess how that turned out for the samurai."
Badly, was the answer. Dead, to the last man. Shiroyama hoped that wasn't some marker of her own eventual fate.
But such dark thoughts were for another time, when she didn't have a beautiful, powerful woman in front of her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Tanais. And just my luck that I would find my first fellow Knight of Mars and she'd be so lovely." Her smile was flirtatious, charming. Shiroyama liked women--and especially women who had a demonstrated ability and desire to kick a**.
"I'd be happy to chat for a while," she said. "I could use some knowledge, if you have time to spare." So she moved, and leapt, and found that she was able to reach the roof with ease.
She was nowhere near used to the feasts of strength she could perform, now.

Tanais laughed and gathered herself for the jump to the roof, accomplishing the feat with a minimum of effort. Such things were common place for a knight... the strength and the speed were the first things one learned about. She landed solidly and straightened into a stretch, reaching up to grip the elbow of one arm as she bent slightly backwards.
"Since you're a Mars knight, your wonder isn't a mountain in Japan." She said, still grinning. "Have you been there yet? Is it a mountain? I've noticed the landmarks tend to be of a same type, even if they're on a different planet. Tanais is a river here on Earth, but its also a river on Mars. One of the more rare events, with Mars being mostly desert. A river and a city, actually."
She couldn't help being pleased at the compliment she received, but she did try not to preen too much about it. "I'm starting to suspect all Mars Knights are attractive. They all have been so far."

color=#c80a2f] Shiroyama nodded, at Tanais's explanation.
"I haven't been yet, no," she admitted. "I should, I suppose." Taiki had acted as if it was very important, but she hadn't found a reason to go yet. That was something she had to change, she thought, especially if there was information that she could only find there. "I'd be interested to see what it is on the Red Planet."
So, an addition to her to-do list.
"But at least Mars has good taste in its Knights, no?"

Tanais laughed and nodded, letting her arms drop to her sides. Mars knights were warriors down to the last soul, as far as she could tell. Made for war, or something like it. A fire always seemed to burn inside of them, something she felt like she could see through their eyes. Maybe it was just imagination, but it made her feel closer to them than anyone else she'd met since waking up here. She'd been a knight first, after all.
"Some people like visiting their power source a lot, you might enjoy it. I get a weird sort of feeling when I'm there... not a bad feeling, but like I've forgotten something important, or lost something. Which is sort of par for the course for me, I guess." She waved a hand, brushing that thought away. Too much history, which really didn't matter right now. "You can find your signet ring there, which you can use to send written messages to other knights. I've heard there is an upgrade that lets you send it more like a text message, rather than needing paper, but I haven't really figured that part out yet. If that's the only thing you do and the only time you visit, I highly suggest it, if only for safety. Its important to be able to communicate with others if you get in a tight spot."
Tanais's smile warmed then as she held out a hand to the other woman, palm up.
"You'd be able to contact me any time you wanted, then." She said. "Or I guess maybe in the mean time, I could give you my cell phone number."

Shiroyama nodded at the explanation. It lined up with what Aokigahara had told her, as strange as it felt to take advice from her little brother. But he had been doing this for much longer than her, and clearly, so had Tanais.
Best to listen.
She took Tanais's hand with a broad grin, and shook it firmly.
"I'll make sure I get my hands on that, then. It'd be remiss of me to not have such an important tool. But for the moment, I'll take your number."
Better to have as many contacts as possible. There was no reason for her to go charging into this without backup. And Tanais seemed a very, very good friend to have.
