In Chip’s continuing quest to mentally map out the entirety of the Nega Headquarters, he’d come across an intriguing smell, and followed it on to a curious little space, strewn with wires, bits of equipment, some shiny crystals and, he sniffed at some discolored spots. Blood, apparently. His kind of place. Naturally, the little kitten got to work—at first, mostly just looking at everything, trying to figure out what was being worked on in the place, how it was going. He could divine what some of it was for, but not all of it. That was both frustrating and exciting: Things to discover! Right here! Well, okay. Not discover. But he did like figuring things out. So there he was, tiny kitten pawing curiously at objects in a probably super dangerous lab, heedless of who might actually own this stuff, or if he was really supposed to be there. (Clearly he was, Chip reasoned, because if he wasn’t supposed to be here, he wouldn’t be able to get in!)

Deep buried in his projects, Tiberius did not first hear the intruder. Nor did he catch scent, thanks to the sharp tang of ozone and soldered metal in the air that dissembled his ability to pinpoint anything other than wire, circuitry, and burning directly and at that point in time. As a matter of fact, he wouldn't have noticed at all that someone had stumbled into his secondary lairspace within the Citadel save that one of his projects - a small robotic bird - spotted the invader and began flashing lights while making a wheee-whooo noise not unlike that of an ambulance.
It only went silent when an absolutely massive mountain of mackerel tabby appeared. "Override Intruder Protocol. Initiate shutdown." The bird began juddering and twitching, but the lights and sounds faded until within fifteen seconds or so it was once more a silent object in the room - just one more weird decoration, as it were.
"Who," Tiberius flicked his tufted ears at the Chaos-touched kitten that had been obviously messing with his Very Important Stuff, "Are you and- more importantly-" He came closer, fur puffed out and body language semi-aggressive but not giving immediate signs of attack. If anything, his ear and whiskers pointed to wary curiousity, his tail twitches to annoyance. "What are you doing messing with my stuff?"
"Ain't anyone tell you it's rude to mess with people's stuff, kid?" The size of a middling dog, Tiberius sat his giant fluffy butt down to regard the odd intruder quizzically.

The presence of a guard bird had surprised Chip, and instead of being frightened by it, was rather more intrigued. He watched it chirp and flash for a few seconds, and had scooted closer, considering swatting it when a voice called out. His ears perked up and he looked in that direction to see a rather large cat. Rather large being a bit of an understatement when compared with tiny Chip...but no matter.
The kitten continued to seem more pleased than anything else, in spite of the semi-aggressive tone. Chip sat on his haunches and looked up. "I'm Chip!" he declared cheerfully, and almost left it at that, as it was clearly explanation enough...but then decided to continue. "I was just having a look 'round the castle," he explained, "And this place is the coolest place I've found yet. Better than the Generals' offices, that's for sure."
How many had he seen? Well, he wasn't gonna admit whose doors he'd gotten through.
"I just wanna see how it all works," he explained, tail flicking happily. "Wasn't gonna take anything apart until I knew what it did. Cuz I gotta know that first, otherwise, what's the point, right?"
To the final question, he looked off to the side, considering. His tail briefly paused. Then it resumed as he spoke again. "Nope, I don't think anybody told me that!" he concluded with a cheerful nod.
Chip regarded the apparent owner of this space for a moment, and then decided: He'd come back and peek at this stuff later, when he knew no one was here, as this Mau did not seem very amenable to his prodding and questioning.
Normally, that wouldn't stop him, but...he didn't really want to tangle with such a very large cat right in this moment, so with a swish of his tail, he turned away and said, "So, I'll leave you to your stuff alone for now, I promise! Byeee~"
