It was an average day of average work with an average sort of funk continuing to hang around the sprite as he slowly swam to partake in the evening meals. How many months had passed since the princesses had gone missing at this point? It felt like it had been quite the time at this point, yet it also seemed to linger fresh in his mind.

The sight of the sea serpents, the leviathan, the blood and damage was yet another source of nightmares... As if he hadn't enough fodder from his childhood and the attack on the tree.

Sometimes he wondered if bad things were just drawn to him.

That's what he continued to ponder as he made his way towards the palace for food.

Tako hummed happily to herself as she swam, on her way to get some dinner at the place she had found a lovely blue octopi that was now contained in a jar she was holding.

Her personal pet octopus Cepha remained content to sit on her hair. Yes it was a good day~

She'd get some dinner and then study the new octopus she found!

Oooo that person was new! at least she thought she hadn't seen them before. She pays more attention to the octopi than other paeple.

She quickly swam up beside the white and blue pae, who had a single claw as one of his hands. Ah must be part Thymop.

"Hello!" Tako called out cheerfully to the stranger "Do you have a moment to talk about the magnificence of Octopi?" She asked. Not that it would matter, she'd just follow him babbling on even if he didn't have time.

Everyone should know the glory of octopi after all.

Wellspring was so caught up in his own depressed thoughts that he hadn't noticed another naiad sneak up on him. He instinctively hid his claw behind his back; it was never good when others saw that. Too many questions, not enough answers.

Huh..?

What did she just say?

Must be another nut job. The party had brought quite a variety of strange-looking and strange-behaving ones, hadn't it? Not that he was one to talk, skink calling the newt black and all.

Not bothering to hide the look of confused disbelief at her words, he pointedly (and awkwardly) looked away and continued to swim away and towards the palace. Maybe she'd leave him alone if he didn't humor her.

Seeing his look of confusion Tako assumed he must not know what an octopus was. What a shame, but it is easily remedied!

And he was off! She quickly propelled herself after him, it wasn't like he said no or anything.

"You see friend Octopi are these magnificent creatures here!" She told him holding up the Jar with the octopi while her pet octopus waved at him from her hair.

"They are truly amazing creatures, not a single bone in their body! They are very flexible and incredibly smart! Why if I don't keep an eye on this little guy he will screw the top off of this here jar and swim away!"

Just ignore her... Just ignore her and go straight... If he just ignores her, surely she'll get the idea. Just keep on going straight Wellspring... Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.

Just keep swimming...

Swimming...

Swimming...

He ventured a glance over to her hands at the mention of a jar and briefly caught sight of her two tiny octopi. Hadn't he seen something like that before? Hadn't he eaten something like that before?

Cepha was laying down on her owner's hair as usual, taking up the entire space of her head. Due to her boneless nature she could probably be shoved into the jar Tako was carrying but it would be uncomfortable luckily the current resident of the jar was smaller than her.

She moved on of her arms over near her mouth and posed in a way that seemed to suggest she was laying her head on the tentacle. Would her owner ever realize that this person did not want to talk?

Oblivious to said fact Tako continued to chatter about octopi she was greatly encouraged when the other pae took a look at the jar. "Aren't they adorable?" the Ockten gushed. "Some octopi can even change their colors! They can pretend to be rocks or even other animals! "

"They also have great memories!" She wiggled excitedly at this claim. "They are capable of memorizing the routes and timing of fish or people moving!" It was clearly that Tako found this very exciting.

"In fact there was an incident where fish kept going missing every night and the kitchen staff couldn't figure out who was doing it! Some octopi had been sneaking in after the kitchens closed to steal fish and avoided the guards on their way in and out."
It was such a fascinating story that showed just how smart they could be!

"Cepha was not one of those thieves I assure you!" She said referring to the one on her head. "The thieves where relocated but with how smart octopi are it wouldn't surprise me if they find their way back someday."

Daisicle
The poor kitchen staff.

Oh Tree F***ing damn it he'd made a mistake. Just one venture of a glance was all it'd taken for her talking to start anew. It was time for him to learn from his mistake and just look straight ahead. Just. Straight. Ahead.

Ahhh she didn't quit her talking, now did she?

Big deal... So they were smart and could learn? They weren't the first sentient creature to exist that he'd slowly had to accept eating. Man, that'd been a rough few first weeks down here. When he learned the naiad mostly ate fish, well... Wasn't that just basically cannibalism? Weren't they fish too? Frankly, it was still kind of uncomfortable to think about.

Back from that tangent, it wasn't like they could communicate with something like an octopus anyways. Fish didn't speak.

Wellspring's eyes remained locked forward as he tried to 'persuade' the other pae into losing interest and continuing on with their day so he could continue on with his own.

"Seamlessly blending into their environment when they hide they are truely a master predator!~" Tako continued to chatter away heedless of well springs attempts to get her to leave.

Her eyes where half paying attention to him (to make sure she didn't lose him of course) and half on their surroundings in case anything interesting showed up and also so she didn't walk into something.

Tako gasped her many legs wiggling in excitement before flitting over and grabbing wellspring. "LOOK LOOK DO YOU SEE IT?" She squealed while pointed at an area of sand that had some little ropy hills to it and a little black circle.

She was clearly delighted by this pile of totally ordinary sand.

Lets see if he can see "it" or not!

Right now Wellspring kind of wish he could seamlessly blend into the environment himself. Maybe then this girl would leave him the hell alone already. But alas, no matter how much he ignored her, she wasn't leaving.

His body visibly jerked at the touch of her suckers.

This was gross and unwarrented physical contact and he just wanted to end it right now.

"OKAY, LOOK HERE." his voice raised, both in volume and perhaps a little in pitch as he struggled to free his hands and quite forcibly push her away. "I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT SOME SAND JUST GET THE HELL OFF ME!" What had he done to deserve this? Why did the world hate him?

Tako blinked in surprise as Wellspring started shouting. My my no need to get so riled up. "Sorry, got excited." she said as she let go of him

She huffed "No one cares about sand." Clearly he was unable to see what was really there.

Quick as a flash she darted down to the pile of 'sand' and grabbed it. The 'sand' Started writhing in her grasp and flailing as she darted back up to Wellspring.

"This is what I meant when I said they can camouflages into anything" She held out the octopus who had given up trying to be sand and turned bright blue with spots in an attempt to make them think it was poisonous so Tako would let it go.

Wellspring ran his palms over his arms as he swam a bit further away from Tako at her release, his body shuddering lightly. He was certainly glaring.

"I don't care about sand or your obsession or these... THINGS! I just want to go to get some food and then come home without having to talk to anyone at all while doing so. Is that so much to ask? Was that REALLY so much to ask?"

He moved another distance away, still very much upset.

"And instead I get some - I dont even know WHAT is Laisidhiel's name you are - somenaiad who won't just leave me alone! I didn't even talk to you! I didn't even pretend to be interested. How. Was. It. So. Hard. To. Tell. I. Didn't. Want. To. Talk?!? And then you went and touched me! WITHOUT my permission?!"

"I'm done! I'm DONE! I'm going back home. Screw it ALL!"

And, in fact, the sprite did about-face and start swimming back from where he'd come.

At wellsprings continued yelling Tako's entire body langue changed. Her noodley appendages stiffened and her eyes narrowed.

The 'sand' octopus to the opportunity to flee as she dropped him and the jar.

"Not my fault you didn't say anything!"
She yelled back "you did too show interest, you where clearly listening to me." She growled in annoyance, he had looked when she told him the the jar contained an octopus.

Honestly what a jerk, just say oh I'm sorry miss I'd like to be alone right now or i don't have time.

"WHAT I AM??" She shouted anger in her voice "WATERS YOU'RE RUDE, I DON'T GO BRINGING YOUR LOOKS INTO THIS NOW DID I?" Sure the Octens had only recently joined the lake naiads but he didn't need to be an a** when asking about it, hell he wasn't even asking.

Laisidheil? Of course he was a land pae. Land pae don't care about water pae or the creatures of the oceans. Humph

Good he should crawl back to his tree like the what was it land pae said? Worm he is. What is a worm? It didn't matter.

Cepha curled up as Tako started yelling back, she fled grabbing the jar, the her owner had dropped and moved to hid in the sand, she did not want to be near two angry pae.

"Oh riiiiiight," his voice was dripping with sarcasm as he refused to even look at her, his hand rising up as he returned in a dry tone, "Yes, yes. Very deformed not-a-naiad called Wellspring here. He's got a claw on one hand and keeps his legs in the water. Used to have blue hair and a tail-fin but then puberty happened. Named Wellspring cause his mom found him in a wellspring. Yes, the one and only is right here."

A sigh as he started mumbling to himself and swimming away.

"Honestly, there's too many damn subspecies of naiad; how the hell am I supposed to keep track of them all... And that makes me the bad guy...?"

"I don't care about your claw! Plenty of seafolk have claws!" Ughhh now he was trying to make HER out to be the bad guy after he was the one who called her a What.

"You don't have ask WHAT i am as if i was some object or animal. the question should be WHO I am wellspring! or at least politely asking what type of naiad i am. BECAUSE I AM NOT A THING."

Stupid irritating land boy so annoy. Clearly his mother didn't teach him any manors.

Should she introduce herself to him? It would be the polite thing since she knows his name. But he was sooo rude! He doesn't deserve an answers. Also he IS swimming away.

"Tako" She said to the back of the pae swimming away. There she introduced herself.

Did they? If they did, color him surprised and a myriad of pink, green, and blue; as of yet, he hadn't met any naiad that fit that description.

Oh? That was what she had issue with? How sensitive... He'd been asked that sort of thing all his life, it was nothing new. He didn't know what he was, he didn't know what she was... What difference did it make? He paused his swimming to look back with a slightly raised brow and an air of confusion. He was expecting the yelling - fully prepared to endure it in fact - but he wasn't sure what to make of that last bit.

"Talk-o?"

A pause.

"What? Did you want to talk-about something else? You don't want to be here, I don't want to be here. What else is there to talk-about?" Through the muffled annoyed sulking in his tone, there was a distinct trace of confusion; namely, why was she still going out of her way to pester talk with him if he was as rude as she said? Didn't make sense. Did she enjoy making others uncomfortable, or perhaps she enjoyed being the victim of her so-called verbal abuse? Either of those personality quirks were outside of his comfort zone and more than he wanted to deal with.
