Quote:
You decide to take a stroll through the city. You find various newly constructed building and several that are in process. Maybe you take the time to explore or maybe you snap some pictures for the map you're trying to build. Or, maybe you're trying to play nice with the locals and hope that one of them will have information to share. No matter what the reasoning, it's nice to get out and get some fresh air.

(Disposable Senshi may participate in this one as civs!)

It seemed like a good time to be out for a walk given that the rain from earlier had finally let up, leaving behind snippets of sun and a breeze that whilst brisk wasn't too chilling.

Aaliyah was one of those making the most of the let up in the weather as she stood close to one of the many partially constructed buildings.

She was waiting for Jane, one hand tucked into her jacket, the other on her smartphone as she absently paged through the local newspaper, before flicking to messages, dark eyes absently scanning through the most recent ones.

There was one from her mother asking her to 'please remember to pick up eggs' and another with a link to a craft market event happening in a few weeks. Neither was anything that required her direct attention however, although she did ping back a quick response to her mother promising to grab the eggs on her way home later on in the day.

She glanced back at the clock, although she wasn't particular fussed - after all she was a little early.

Jane hurried through the crowded streets of Witzend. She wasn't late per-say just later then she wanted to be. She was going to meet up with her friend to chat and catch up. Nothing pressing, just something to pass the time, and yet for them it was also a good moment for them to pass information. For them to talk in person and to get a feel of the city around them. For Jane this was very important, since she lived more on the outskirts of the city proper. The others such as Ali would have a much more intimate knowledge of what was going on in their city. A city they were fighting to protect.

"Here you go miss," Jane gruffly muttered as she scooped up a dropped bag and passed it back to its owner. She didn't stick around for the offered thanks, nor for the sighing giggles from the teen girls who had seen the whole thing. She really didn't want to know that she had now become part of their gossip... about cute boys.

With a sigh Jane reached her destination, one of the buildings under construction. She spotted Aaliyah right away, that green hair was pretty hard to miss. "Hey, I'm not too late am I?"

In order to take the city back, Damien figured it made the more sense to try to map out the area and become familiar with it. Figure out which buildings were new, figure out what was old. Figure out who stayed in certain areas.

Perhaps see if he could come across anything suspicious.

Damien did his best to make sure he wasn't also suspicious, though, leaning his back against a nearby building, not under construction, as he scrolled through his phone. On occasion, he'd lift it, snap a few pictures, and tuck it back into his pocket, before surveying the environment again.

His eyes caught an androgynous woman moving to meet up with another woman, asking something of the other woman when she walked up to her. They were probably meeting up. It was nothing too suspicious, at least, though he did take note of them in his mind, as he took note of everything else. If they were locals here, perhaps he could track them to figure out where a lot of the locals seemed to gather themselves.

He took out his phone once more.

Aaliyah looked up from her phone at the sound of the familiar voice.

"Jane" she said, her lips quirking up in a gentle smile of welcome at the dark-haired woman making her way over to her.

She knew that the two of them perhaps made something of a pair, her with her messy green uncontrollable curls that had a tendancy to resemble a birds nest and somewhat preppy taste in clothes and Jane, with her androgynous appearance and tendancy to both dress and act as a tomboy, causing people to often mistake her for a boy - to her friend's everlasting annoyance.

She shook her head at the question, "No not that long" because her getting to their meeting place early didn't count - well at least not to Aaliyah.

"By the way I went ahead and made that list of book recommendations that you wanted." Aka snippets of things that had seemed interesting to her and might merit a little checking out, but could do with a second pair of eyes just in case it turned to be nothing - after all Jane had a lot more experience with this stuff than she did.

"Do you mind if we wander for a bit?"

She glanced about, gaze looking at the buildings about her as she absently took in the few people bustling about to and fro "Make the most of the sun whilst it's still out?"

Jane returned her friend's smile, "That's good to hear. The train was running later then I wanted so I wasn't too sure." The tall girl glanced at her phone before eyeing the construction around them. "They really are dragging their feet on these aren't they?" Her comment was mostly just in passing, no special meaning behind it, even though they were actually the perfect place for them to train in the dead of the night.

"Oh thats great," They had their own little code for talking in public. Jane knew quite well that 'book suggestions' was gossip and other things that they as senshi needed to look into. "I've got to show you the pictures I took the other day! There are some really great shots," basically she got pictures of places that they were interested in. Kind of like reconnaissance pictures. It was all MI6 and stuff! If screwing up wasn't so fatal it would almost be fun.

Blue eyes took in the surrounding crowd, completely skipping over the people who just seemed to be chilling including one particular stranger who was playing on his phone. "Sure, I've got the rest of the day free." Jane started to slowly stroll down the sidewalk only to pause for a second and turn back to Ali. "Oh hey, you want to head over to Alice's Tea House? I haven't eaten yet so grabbing a bite would be welcome." Jane leaned a bit closer and added, "Besides the boys at school swear there is something fishy over there. I think its a ploy to get a girl to go with them but it should be amusing to see if they are right."

Book suggestions, pictures... none of it sounded particularly interesting to him, and it worked well enough as a disguise that Damien for the moment stopped paying much mind to the two girls at all as he looked on his phone about whatever interesting news articles were coming out of the local Witzend news--

Wait. Something fishy over there?

That had his attention, and Damien's eyes flicked up, watching the two girls carefully. What was fishy at the Tea House? Was it by any chance related to the senshi who were infecting this area?

If he could find some useful leads on that, perhaps he could head them off.

Perhaps he could...

Take care of the problem.

Perhaps these two girls could lead him to whatever that problem was. It was worth paying a bit more attention to what they were doing. Damien kept his phone out, but he prepared himself to perhaps follow after them.

(Maybe it would be more productive to talk. He didn't want to set off any alarms, though.)

Aaliyah glanced over to what had caught Jane's attention, her smile turning into a rueful laugh as she caught sight of the 'in progress' construction works "True, but you know how it is with these projects - they always seem to overrun." And if truth be told the overruns worked in their favour - well at least in the favour of their powered counterparts.

"Must be all the tea breaks," her words were mildly sarcastic.

"And yes I'd love to look over your snaps - you've got a good eye for it" code speak for 'it would be useful to look over what could potentially be their next target'.

She nodded at the suggestion that they head to the tea house "Sure, I'm up for that - Alice does great teas, even though I wish she served them a little less hot" Her inability to drink hot tea was sort of a standing joke between them.

An green eyebrow rose at her friend's mention of 'something fishy' "Oh? I mean I sort of heard something about strange things too" her nose wrinkled slightly as she walked next to her friend "But the people who mentioned it were the same people who swore that the post office was haunted."

Dark eyes glanced up at blue as she continued "Do you think there's something to it? I mean we go to different schools."

"Yeah, apparently they refuse to continue without a good cuppa!" Jane laughed loudly and with mirth, uncaring for the glances she got from the move. Her amusement morphed into embarrassment at the compliment Ali gave her when it came to her pictures. She knew what her companion was mostly talking about how useful her covert snaps helped them with their missions but it was still nice to hear. "Ah, um, yeah," She absently tugged her hat further down on head in an effort to hide her blush, "Thanks."

The duo strolled further down the sidewalk, getting closer and closer to the stranger who was hiding his true aims by just fiddling with his phone, not that Jane even noticed. She was too busy grasping at the change of topic in an effort to distract herself from the earlier embarrassment. "Yeah the tea is pretty hot but I really like it, especially on cold days." The slowly passed by the guy who had been listening in. "I heard about that! Wasn't it a bunch of boys playing a prank on a girl? Ugh! Boys are such.... boys!" She clicked her tongue at the antics of the immature guys who lived in their town. "I bet Alice's is just like that. Its got to be something they made up to make it easier to take girls there. I know there isn't a guy in my school who would be caught dead in such a store alone." Blue eyes rolled in exacerbation before she said the one thing that was on her mind. "Boys are so stupid! Ugh, what is the point of them anyway?"

They seemed to be coming closer to him. A convenient direction for them to take, for sure. Damien glanced up from his phone for a moment as they drifted close, but rolled his eyes back down to his phone when they were just about on top of him.

Part of eavesdropping was appearing innocuous, after all.

The more they talked, the more it seemed like that they did not believe there was anything to this 'Tea House' rumour, talking about boys and how boys were just trying to prank women. Typical teenager talk, really. At the thought, Damien chuckled to himself, quiet but likely loud enough to be noticed, especially when the more butch-looking woman asked what the point of boys was, anyway.

Definitely quite typical teenager talk.

Perhaps this was a way to worm himself into their conversation?

Lifting his eyes from his phone, he remarked, bluntly, with an amused grin on his face, "At the basics, boys exist so the human race continues." His accent probably was not the most British the two women had ever heard, but he was affecting the accent he heard when he was younger from his grandmother and his grandfather. Overall, it sounded like he had probably adopted a softer accent over time, perhaps from living in a more metropolitan area.

Aaliyah wrinkled her nose again, "Yes," she nodded, because in the end the post office thing had turned out to be some of the boys from her school deciding to play a stupid prank.

Not that boys from Jane's school were any different - at least from her friend's tales they seemed to be just as annoying.

She nodded at Jane's suggestion that Alice's was just another prank "Makes sense" she said and whilst it wasn't her style to be quite as vocal as her dark-haired friend, it didn't mean that Aaliyah wasn't in any less agreement–

And it wasn't really as if Alice's was exactly a popular hang out spot for the boys at her school either "It would explain the whole after..."

Her voice trailed off as the brown-haired man with the phone that they were walking past spoke up, her dark eyes blinking at him startled for a moment, not quite sure that he was addressing them, head glancing around almost as if expecting to see someone else who he was addressing–

At least that was until she realised that his brown eyes were looking in their direction.

At the interruption of their conversation Jane gaped for a second before her blue eyes narrowed and she took a step in front of her friend, shielding her from the strange guy. "Three things wrong," The girl held up three fingers, her first two fingers and her thumb, and began to count them down. "First this a private conversation so go back to where ever you came from." Her thumb went down, "Second pretty sure science has proven a guy actually isn't necessary at all, not even for your dna." Her pointer finger went down and she turned her hand around so she was just flashing the guy her middle finger, "And third... ******** off."

With that she gently guided her friend forward, hurrying them past the stranger who thought it was a good idea to approach two women who were minding their own business. "Come on, lets get out of here." She kept herself between Ali and the guy, shooting him daggers as she glanced back. Ugh, boys really were gross!

Damien's eyes lit up in amusement.

Oh, this was comedy gold.

He truly didn't give a single s**t that she decided to tell him that he needed to go back from whence he came--and to ******** off, wasn't that the same thing?--and also that he wasn't actually necessary for reproduction. Funny. With a quirked brow, to her second point, he responded, "Not like they've done that successfully yet. Let me know when you manage to pull that off, alright miss?"

Definitely no babies of two women that he knew of. He was fairly sure that would be in the international news.

Just theoretics was all.

As the angsty butch-looking woman marched away from him, ushering the other woman away, Damien just shot an annoying, cheeky grin.

That may have burned a potential lead, but honestly, worth it.

Dark eyes looked slightly embarrassed as Jane stepped in front of her, a part of her feeling a little sorry for the stranger as from experience that was usually a precursor to a Jane tirade–

At least right up until the point where he grinned - well more liked smirked, Ali's eyes narrowing as she huffed, letting her friend tug her past and away from him.

Jane was right, guys really were more trouble than they were worth most times–

And to think that she had felt the tiniest bit sorry for him.
