Returning to work after lunch had been unproductive. She'd been thinking about the time spent a lot. Luckily her full attention hadn't been required for the rest of work at the Distillery. When it was time to clock out for the day, she'd been eager to get home and stuff her face with dinner before patrol.

A few minutes before seven that evening, Lyonsite stood at their meeting spot. It was a pavilion located in one of Destiny City's many parks. What was cool about this pavilion was that the roof looked like a big top tent. It was pitched with red and white stripping, and seriously with their team name being The Circus, how could she not be drawn to it?

The lieutenant didn't idle her time waiting for her companion though, and instead was stretching her limbs. She was all in. They were going all night.

Had the rest of the day been faster or slower than the first? Realistically, he knew neither was true. Time was a solid, but the perception of it was fluid, and now especially, it was confusing and often irrelevant.

What mattered was the clock ran out. And after a delivered dinner of steak and potatoes (he was not much of a cook and had enough money to eat out, after all), he was ready for a night of catharsis.

The unique facet of their meeting place was not lost on him. If he didn't know she'd be able to sense him coming, Penikisite might've snuck up and tried to scare her (he'd done that as the knifethrower, or tried, an ongoing game), but as it was, the game was rendered moot. "Ah - because it's showtime?" he said by way of greeting, gesturing upwards and snickering.

Lyonsite twisted her torso to look at him, one arm pulled across her chest in a stretch as he approached. She grinned. "You know it." She finished stretching and rolled her shoulders. "Following your lead tonight!" She informed him with a salute, so wherever he wanted to go, she was game. "I'm half way through quota, but I'm sure I'll hit that easily after this patrol."

Fists rested briefly on her hips as she looked down at him.

"How was the rest of your day?" Her grin widened. "Did you bite any kids?" A pause. "And how much did the geese honk after I left?" Shoulders shook with mirth at the thought.

There was no reason to bite back a smile as the clown: the grin was literally etched onto his face for ******** sake. "And then some, " he added helpfully, delighted at the prospect that she was just going to play along with whatever game he chose.

The question was, where to play? The park? There were no major events tonight, as far as he knew - a bar, perhaps? Or a seedy area of town? That could be fun. Would it be as fun as a suburban neighborhood? The prospect of spending his birthday prowling those streets as children scrounged for candy had been the stuff of fantasies for longer than he wanted to admit, now. Just wait until October.

He shot her a look, and snickered, because they both had to know what the answer would be: "Boring. Would've been better if I had bit him, but I had to settle for cutting him with my words instead. Dull as dirt, " without her to color the place, although he didn't say that, and wasn't entirely sure the thought was his own. "Bar the geese. I might have flung them a few scraps, admittedly." Penikisite cracked with knuckles. "They asked about you, I threw out the 'she's an old and dear friend' line. Oh, the noise they made about that one." He crossed his arms. "How do people live their entire lives like that, honestly?"

She could literally see him thinking through all the possibilities. She laughed a bit, shaking her head, and rocked back and forth on her heels lightly. "Oooh---" Lyonsite started. "How deep did you cut him with words?" She cackled at the thought, and then it turned into an outright laugh as he informed her about the geese.

"Oh." Lyon hummed with a wide grin. "Borrowing from the alternate circus life memories, eh?" The tall Lieutenant then lurched into motion, moving past the clown. She bumped his shoulder playfully with her own on the way by, and settled into a walk. "Man, you should have gone big or gone home! You're playing it safe there with the friend line." She teased. "If you wanted to give them heart attacks you should have said I was your girlfriend---" Lyonsite paused, and then a thought occurred to her. "Oooooo Peni!"

Even though the man hadn't picked their location yet, she liked it when they moved. She looked back to him, moving slow enough that he'd be able to catch up. "Think I could be mistress material?" The grin split her face as she looked at him, and it was followed by a curious tilt of her head. "Live their lives like what? Constantly honking? Constantly nosy?"

“Not deep enough to cry, but enough that he’ll be feeling it later, “ the clown merrily supplied, summoning his balloon and toying with the string, half-winding it around his wrist simply because he could. He didn’t acknowledge her comment about the memories, but his grin took a turn for the smug.

The bump wasn’t unwelcome as he moved with her, although his smile - it didn’t exsctly falter at the suggestion, but it twisted a little edge at the edges at the girlfriend remark. Why, though? It was just a joke. He cackled, but there was a beat he hadn’t planned for. “Hmmm. First you call me hot, then you want to be my work girlfriend, mistress, whatever - should I be worried about you Lyon?” he teased, bumping her shoulder this time, more eager to play into the roughhousing now that he was in his other job.

He snorted and then made a face, wrinkling his nose. “All of the above? - a life where a woman eating lunch with one of your coworkers is the riveting highlight of your week?” Then, abruptly, he got s glint in his eyes. He grabbed Lyon’s forearm, decision made: “Office workers. Let’s go find some brown nosing office workers!”

The woman glanced at him out of the corner of her eye at the off beat. It was weird but their banter had a usual cadence about it, and in that moment, it had been...off. She laughed at the teasing though, swinging her head around to look down at him. "Lieutenant Penikisite---that statement is a load of BS because just short of a team mate being physically injured, you don't know the meaning of the word worry."

She upped the bumping by reaching out and giving him a playful shove.

"So I should be worried about you, actually pulling punches to deliver a killer punchline. How unlike you to hold back." Lyonsite leaned, getting close to him as she whispered, "Scared?" Her grin was wide, and her brows lifted up towards her bandana though as he clearly got excited about something, and even went so far as to grab her arm.

The woman snorted. "Oh man." She thought about it for a moment. "Those guys will rue the day they decided to work overtime!" She gave him a thumbs up. "After you, Peni."

Rather than fight it, Penkisite just laughed, hard, briefly laying a hand on his stomach until it subsided into snickers. "You're right -- I don't." The best humor was truth, after all, and rightfully, she had called it as she'd seen it.

He tilted as she shoved, and smirked as he pushed back, even if it was an ultimately futile effort. He was no puny little thing, no, but she was literally built like a chimney. The weak spot in the bricks surely existed to make it tumble, but he wasn't particularly interested in deconstructing it.

"I know 'scared' about as well as 'worried' though, " he quipped in rebuke, holding his chin a little higher.

Given the green light, he swelled with excitement, cackling to himself as he led the way towards a cluster of buildings he knew to be near, stuffy, tie-clad businesses taking up residence, "Like cockroaches, " and he wasn't really sure when he began to vocalize it, but, "They just spend all their days crawling around on their bellies in the dirt, waiting to be crushed, there'll just be five more." A little bit, it was nice to have a sounding board for these thoughts without being carted off to see a damn shrink. "See them? They're still there - ah, a few are streaming out..."

Lyonsite just grinned, and it simmered into a smirk as she followed after him. She let some thoughts roll around, from the last bits of their conversation, but she decided it'd probably be best to wait until later to ask, when they had a lull again. They were starting to shift into action right now. She tailed after him like a looming shadow, musing that one of the many perks of patrolling with Penikisite was that he made patrolling a show. By herself? Her quota gathering was never a production. Just simple and straight forward.

The woman's head tilted as he started to speak, listening to him. She eyed the people coming out, and at the moment wasn't quite certain what would be happening to them. She knew what she was going to do but---

"Even insects have their role in the grand scheme of things." She mused. "Someone's gotta push the dirt around." The lieutenant rolled her shoulders again, getting ready.

"How you wanna do this, Chuckles? Are we sneaking? Rushing?" Brows lifted as she waited for his call.

That was funny to him. Funnier than it had any business being, really, and the only reason he didn't give a full bellied kind of laugh was because he knew they'd hear and catch on too soon. "And prey, " he remarked, the laughter vibrant in his eyes if not in his voice, grin stretched tight. "Where'd we be without prey, right?"

He cracked his knuckles, and then waved a finger at her. "Little of both, kitty cat. - you get their attention, " she was tall and powerful and exceptionally good at that, "and then I'll give them a hell of a story to tell tomorrow." If they made it back. Biting back another laugh, he clapped her shoulder and retreated into the shadows.

Lyonsite thought about that for a moment.

"Right."

They were the Negaverse, as as much as it was about keeping the Earth safe, it was about weeding out the bad parts too. The not so good. All power for Metalia, and to equate it to her favorite animal---it was hunting for the sake the Pride to thrive.

The woman gave a snort of amusement at the name, but nodded her head. Like liked the warmth that came from him, once again, doing another friendly gesture, and then got on her way. Get their attention. Yeah. She could manage that just fine---and she did.

It came in the form of grabbing a public trash bin off the street corner and raising it above her head as she approached the people filing out of the building. "Ladies and gentlemen---" She boomed, and immediately followed it up with hurling the trash bin past them all. It was not her intention to hit any of them with it. Just to create a distraction. The bin made a loud noise as it rolled, thumped, and skidded on the side walk, blowing past them, and causing the bunch of them to start, jump, and yell in surprise.

Funny, really, how this whole thing was playing out - this chance meeting with a monster on the street, the most interesting thing (perhaps the first interesting thing) he'd ever seen in his life. Seemed like a joke, somehow. Man in a world without motion or color. Stands alone. He's given an outlet to smear that colorless world in paint, or to be literal and metaphorical in one, to 'paint the town red'. Then, and only then - well, it was more complicated than that, things were always more complicated than they should be, but he could hardly say he was alone. Whether it was reassuring or limiting or both would show itself in time, but in the moment -

- he had someone to set him up for the punchline, howling with laughter as he flung himself from the shadows at the men's unguarded, stiff spines. "IT'S SHOWTIME!" he finished, grabbing one by the back of the neck to slam face-first down onto the pavement with a wholly satisfying crunch.

This would not be difficult, but hell, it would be fun.

The people were scared more by Penikisite's entrance than by the trash can whirling by them.

Admittedly, the crunch sound was satisfying, but at the same time, it made Lyonsite cringe as well, because it looked painful. One of man's colleagues, motivated out of his stunned stupor, started to charge the other lieutenant, but the woman reached out to grab the man. "No can do, guy." She replied, one hand fisting into the suit to hold him, while the other planted itself on the side of the man's neck. She started to drain him, and she immediately felt the fight start to leave the man, along with his energy.

Lyonsite's gaze cut to the side at the remaining people, one woman letting out a shrill scream before she started to scramble back, and the others were looking torn between flight or fight. Orange eyes cut back to the clown and she jerked her head in their direction.

"We getting them, too, or nah?"
