It was becoming easier to pull Hydor away from his studies and out onto the streets of Destiny City. What was driving him, though, was perhaps atypical for the average senshi. It could not necessarily be that he actually cared for his fellow citizens. People, in general, made his skin crawl. On some level, he could not care if they lived or died. Yet, whenever he thought about what those of Chaos did--stealing the life energy from the citizens to fuel their own world-altering machinations, stealing sometimes the very souls from people to fuel their own bullshit, on occasion turning one type of being into another more monstrous one, images of which were very clear in his mind--it made his blood boil. He could not let it stand. It was disturbing the order of the universe. It was disturbing the law of how reality was supposed to work. Perhaps the existence of magic in itself had upended how reality was supposed to work, but he did not need to believe in the stability of reality to understand things that were fundamentally incorrect, even under the new paradigm. Faust would have found that, gradually, it was becoming less of a necessity to badger to actually get Hydor out on patrol. It seemed that Hydor actually patrolled willingly now, sometimes even with other senshi as well, of all things. Today, though, he was patrolling with Faust. Specifically, he was heading off Destiny City University's campus with Faust, hands shoved in his pockets. "I do not sense anyone at the moment," noted Hydor, knitting his brows. "Have you noticed any areas where there seems to be an increased Chaotic presence? We can head over there." Beejoux thanks for volunteering rom <3 let me know if this works as an intro! Strickenized and feel free to post in whatever order works best for you!

Faust's ears swiveled to the sound of Hydor's voice. Up here, on his shoulders, Faust heard everything clarion — horns honking, some a*****e downstairs pissing too loud, someone gabbing on their cell phone about some damn boring gossip. It was a whole a** improvement over cramping himself into some damn schoolbag where this or that book smashed into his back and he had to keep quiet about it. And while his shoulders weren't as broad as Thraen's, the kid still had some years to grow.
"Ain't sensed nothin' either. But I been keeping an eye out for hotspots. We don't got the numbers the Negaverse got, but they still need to recruit even though they been holding their own. And from what I seen, they been concentrating on bars where a bunch of them military kids hang out. Some of them'll recruit there." Tell a kid that they can squirm out from under their parents' influence and they usually agree before their reason catches up with them. Faust turned a bunch of senshi that way, and a bunch of other senshi by bossing them into it. Military kids didn't boss well, but they jumped for a chance at freedom. Usually.
And there was one such bar half a mile away. "Try that way." Faust pointed a paw in an easterly direction, along the main drag for their current neighborhood. "Go 'round the corner of that fatass building down there and see if we get anything."
Been a damn long time since he smashed some Chaos. They always get cocky when he takes breaks to awaken people, the damn fools. About time he got back to it, and tested how Hydor's been coming around with combat.

There was indeed something down around the corner of that fatass building The closer the two got the easier it'd be to pick up on the aura of a Dark Mirror super lurking around the area. Unfortunately for her she couldn't feel them. Not with the cat hiding the senshi under his protective magic. She'd have to wait until she could hear voices or the sound of foot steps, if they came at all. A little stealth would let them creep right up on her. She was sitting on a fire escape of a tall building opposite the big one on the corner. She had a mirror shard between her fingers, eyes cast down at a crowd of people congregating outside with the bright cherries of lit cigarettes cutting lines of line in the darker air. Smoke pluming up around them. They would notice the shadow that swept up near them, would barely feel it as it slipped through their chests. Like a sudden wave of exhaustion, it'd leave them yawning but otherwise unharmed as it bounded back towards the waiting senshi and the shard of reflective glass in her hands.

At the mention of military kids, Hydor snorted. Of course. It seemed logical that the Negaverse would target locations where people were often already authoritarian and obsessed with the idea of fighting and winning. He was familiar with the type -- war-obsessed 'bros' who cared more about the fact that they could wield weapons and unnecessary power over the destruction that wrought. Seemed to fit the profile of the Negaverse. "Would not be surprised if half those military douches were agents," noted Hydor, dryly, as he followed Faust's paw direction. Seemed to be a fair way to go. The large building would give an agent a decent place to perch, if anything, and considering it was along a busy street, there were likely to be plenty of people walking that could be targeted for their souls, to become monsters, or otherwise. Comforted by the suppression of his aura, Hydor made no real effort to hide himself as he walked over to the directed location, Faust perched on his shoulder. As he grew closer, he noticed more people that he saw appeared to have their shoulders slumped, that were yawning-- And, perhaps more importantly, he picked up on an aura. It was a dark aura, though it was not quite the same as the auras he was familiar with from dealing with agents. It was Chaos, but something was different. It did not necessarily feel lighter or better, but it was different. When he thought about it, he had discovered that sensation once before, when he had spoken to Dark Mirror Sailor Mithra. "It appears there may be a Dark Mirror senshi in the vicinity," offered Hydor, attempting to pinpoint where exactly the aura was hiding. His experiences with the Dark Mirror had thus far been peaceful, though he was uncertain if the yawning he saw was somehow related. So far as he knew, they did not collect in the same ways that the Negaverse did.

Faust's ears flattened against his fluffy head. "One of those damn fools." Dark Mirror were less intrusive than the Negaverse, but they were still intrusive. They were still Chaos, running around and draining people of their energy like they were entitled to it. Fools and bigots, most of 'em, and Faust was glad to not have had a serious conversation with any one of them.
"You know what we gotta do." As Faust sat steady on Hydor's shoulder, he looked about for the source of the energy. Would've smelled for it, too, were it not for cigarette smoke rankling his nose. The cat chuffed, then sneezed, then sneezed again. These idiots smoking their damn cancer sticks —
Stay on target, Faust. There's asses to kick nearby. And sure as Hydor navigated the angular spaces, Faust felt the enemy aura a little more specifically. Maybe it was his feline awareness or the many years he spent on Destiny City streets, but the pinpoint was a matter of watching a vague ghosty shape drift away from the crowd. "See that thing? Looks like some shitty photoshop ghost on TV? Gotta follow it. Our Mirror's that way." This time Faust gestured with a bob of his head. That thing would lead them to their target, he was sure of it. Sure as he had no tail.
The thought of catching this a*****e excited him. He could see Hydor in action for damn once in his life and beat down some Chaos at the same time. Woulda only gotten better if fish fell out of the ******** sky afterward.

The wraith bounded gracefully down the alley before leaving up to bounce off the side of the break building beside it and up to the waiting senshi. Sledding effortlessly into the little morroe shard she was holding, which was tucked away safely directly after. It wouldn't take do to have it broken one way or another. They were a pain to replace. She'd gotten to her feet by the time the duo turned the corner, and sge spotted them by chance, brows arching at the lack of aura before she noticed the cat on the senshi's shoulders. "We'll lookie here," she called down to them with a smile, leaning her forearms on the railing with one bent up to support her chin. "What a nice senshi, taking their kitty for walkies." Up here she had the advantage, but it wouldn't last. He might not have had the same strength as her, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be able to get to her. But it would take time, effort. It's leave him open as he clambered his way up, and she was ready to great him with a magicly enhanced curl of her fist.

Sounded like Faust had encountered the Dark Mirror himself, which was not entirely unexpected. What did take him by surprise for just a moment was the considerably more negative impression he appeared to have of them. Interesting. Hydor quirked a brow at Faust as he sneezed, both wondering what exactly they had to do and what that negative impression might have been. Considering the last Dark Mirror he had encountered had simply wanted to talk, Hydor had immediately gone to ways to remediate the situation instead of beating it to death. If the Dark Mirror was perhaps more inclined to talk, maybe he could just convince them to leave. It had worked before with Mithra, all things considered. It prevented him from having to crack his knuckles against their face. What thing? Hydor followed Faust's gaze as it shifted to some strange dark phantom in the crowd. So that was how the Dark Mirror took their energy. Unnatural. Hydor pursued the strange phantom, stopping in his tracks when it was suddenly up and away. He glanced up to where it was, locating the Dark Mirror herself just as she opened her mouth to announce herself with some dumbass taunt. If he had the will for it, he may have laughed. "Very funny." He clearly thought it was not. Hydor looked for a way to meet her up the building, hopefully without leaving himself too open to attacks. Were there any nearby ledges, or would he be best served by simply taking the fire escape? Considering his extra cargo plus the lack of availability of strong ledges, he opted for the second option, moving quickly.

"Nobody got time for your s**t." Faust focused energy into his star, his forehead glimmering to life, before a beam shot off at the Mirror senshi just as Hydor started to move. Chuffing, Faust renewed his grip on Hydor's shoulder while the senshi made for his first route up the building. The guardian watched the gaggle of humans as they passed — most were smart enough to take the queue to leave and booked it, while others fumbled to get phones out for a SnapChat surprise. Grunting, Faust turned his head toward Hydor's. Why the hell did people get so damn nosy?
The fire escape was a nosy racket of a thing, all rickety and busted out like some Nega after Thraen got through with them. It was raised up so nobody could break into the apartments, but that wouldn't last long. While tired from the beam, Faust still butt-calibrated his launch from Hydor's shoulder and leapt for the fire escape. If Hydor needed it that badly, Faust could belly-flop on the raised stairway and lower it down. But if his partner knew how to aim his jumps, then they'd race in tandem to the rooftop.
Faust's ear-mounted communicator crackled to life with his transmission. Better than whispering, he figured. "Yo, she stronger than you, so we gotta be smart about this." Faust started creeping up the area, noting his surroundings as he went — lots of dark windows, adjacent building that looked just as dark, party cloudy sky, moon out, some tall trees in jumping distance of the fire escape. Hell if Faust knew what to do with any of that.
"Hope you got some ideas in that college-educated head o' yours." Cuz Faust didn't. That was Quenton's job.
