After running a few chores for the Infirmary in the morning and having lunch, Vitriol was enjoying a bit of free time as best he could in a place that was almost always the same. He had to admit, he was getting a bit stir crazy, but luckily he had managed to request an item that would help him with that and also train him to better use his newly changed hands.

The ball bounced against the dark crystal ground as he moved down the hallway, but every so often it would dart out of his hand and, just like that, run down the hallway.

It wasn't that hard. Dribble a ball. But he was used to having one eye and the change to depth perception coupled with giant monster paws was tripping him up. Luckily the Negaverse didn't have a NBA team.

Watching the ball bounce down the dark corridor, he followed after.

Having been dismissed from yet another meeting, Tyrolite had stepped outside of the room after the adjournment while the General spoke to one of her other officers. She was his ride, after all, so he couldn't leave without her --- but that didn't mean he wanted to be in anyone's business, especially if it was any kind of reprimand.

He wanted to keep his nose clean and the best way to do that would be to stick to his own business and no one else's.

Which was why he paused when he heard an echoing thunk approach him, a shadowy figure of an orb quickly appearing as they hit the ground in time with the echoing sounds. It managed to slow its bounce shortly after passing him, transitioning into a roll as it continued down the hallway.

Okay, not exactly the most "normal" thing to see in this dark and spooky place... but that was none of his business.... right?

He moved slowly and stopped dead when he saw another agent. He had thought the hallway was unoccupied this time of night and hadn't thought he'd see anyone. The castle was a bit more spacious than most and the ball wouldn't be eaten by youma or fall into a den if he placed in the Rift. But being spotted made it seem as if he was being too carefree and disrespecting the seriousness of the castle.

"Ah.....you wouldn't happen to have seen...something roll by?" He couldn't like to another officer either. He had to be careful. He had lied before. Left before. Was being watched. Everything was a mark.

He felt the aura before he saw the individual, the shadows of the hallway shrouding them and their... peculiar looking silhouette until the agent in question approached him directly.

Tyrolite, who wasn't one to stare, found himself completely and utterly staring at the strange looking individual.

"Roll... by?"

It took him a second to collect himself, eyes focusing on the ears and the massive arms of the creature-person in question. He spoke like a human but he barely looked the part of one.

".....I saw a... it was...."

Blue eyes blinked and the poor Lieutenant couldn't hold his tongue any longer.

"What are you, exactly?"

What are you, exactly?

He paused, staring back at the officer.
It paused, staring back at the officer.

It's eyes looked at his wide-eye expression, openly staring back at him. Gradually, it smiled back. That was right. This man wouldn't know and wouldn't see it for what it once had been. It wasn't the same and as such wouldn't be considered the same.

"I'm a half-youma." It said. "Sorry if I started you. I suppose seeing something like me outside of the Rift could be alarming. Don't worry. I won't bite you."

It forgot about the ball. The ball wasn't important now. "I'm Vitriol. It's nice to meet you "

Half-youma?

Tyrolite stared at him as if the man -- err, creature -- was speaking a foreign language to him. Hell, he might as well have been, using terms he'd never heard of before.

The only youma he'd ever seen had been some massive, hulking beast of a thing that had ended up making him youma chow temporarily and then exploded around him, leaving the poor Lieutenant covered in monster guts and slime.

Not exactly the best memory.

And this guy was... half of one of those? So did that mean the other half was... human?

"Tyrolite," he said, the uneasiness still apparent in his voice. Again, not the most comfortable thing to be talking to, post-youma vomited. "You're... one of those things? Or part of one? How is that... how is that even possible?"

Things.

IT.

It stared back silent for a moment. "Half of one."

"There are many ways to become a half youma. If you eat too many starseeds or your starseed takes in too much Chaos energy. You can even become a full one if you aren't careful."

Or by choice. But that wasn't something it felt the Queen would want advertised.

"But we are still agents." It stare a moment as a nagging sense if familiarity nibbled in it's mind.

"Weren't you the guy during Obsidian's training who was devoured?"

Tyrolite winced at that.

Was that going to be his calling card now? The thing everyone knew him from?

The guy that got eaten that one time, at that one training thing?

His cheeks lit up red with embarrassment, the dark haired boy coughing to clear his throat as he looked away for a brief moment. One hand rose to run through his hair, messing up the few waves that still sat there as he shrugged nonchalantly (or as best he could).

"Y-Yeah, it all happened a little too fast for me to react to, properly. If I was expecting some giant monster to show up, I woulda been better prepared for it."

A pitiful excuse, but the only one he seemed to have.

Eyes returned to the half-youma, half-agent in front of him, the thought crossing his mind and adding to the puzzlement of the situation.

"So... you're like me... but you're also like that youma from the training seminar?"

It was a curious combination, to say the least. "D'you mind if... y'know. I ask how it happened? You didn't like... sign up to become a monster, did you?"

"I wasn't expecting a youma either and one that large. And youma don't need to eat so I was wondering what would even happen to you. I honestly wondered what it must like be inside? Did it even have all the parts to digest a person? A stomach? Then there isn't even water in the Rift so was it dry or wet inside? I wondered how long you had if it was acidic." It said, wondering openly about the mechanics of being eaten alive by a youma that large.

The questions came in turn to how it was how it was. It wasn't a foreign question. Many agents wondered how a person like them could become, even in some percentage, like the creatures they summoned for aid or saw dusted by senshi during patrols.

"Too much chaos during my corruption." It said, deciding for the truth but not much in the way of the circumstances and details leading up to it.

"Upon request." So yes. He did sign up.

Tyrolite wasn't expecting so many follow-up questions after having been eaten by the monstrous... er, monster, so blue eyes widened a little bit as he nervously shifted his weight from one foot to the other.

"I... don't really have much to compare it to, I've never been eaten before then."

In truth, he was panicking so much that he hadn't had the sense about him to study his surroundings, much less search for any weak point within the foul thing. He'd been flailing, hitting and kicking until his strength had been exhausted - none of which had worked, of course, until the youma had been defeated by outside forces.

"It was... gross? Definitely wet, definitely smelled rank. If there was acid in it, I guess I wasn't in it long enough to feel the effects."

He had only smelled like gross dead monster until he'd powered down and showered, thankfully.

The explanation gave a little reprieve to his curiosity, but not by much. Too much chaos? Did that mean if General Marcasite had used too much power in inducting him into the Negaverse, that he could have turned into a half-wolf creature too?

"So does that mean you can't... go out and about, like we do?"

Did this mean he was forbidden to go back home?

"I'll be taught to hold a glamour that will make me appear human which would let me be able to walk the streets of Destiny without any alarm. Other than that, no. This is my body as it is. It doesn't change when I power down." It knew as one of the few half-youmas that these questions came up often and most did not understand the mechanics to its being. That this wasn't part of being in uniform. That these parts of it didn't go away.

"This is permanent. They are my body just like your leg or hand wouldn't change once you power down and go home. I've been altered by Chaos physically all the way to muscle and bone." It would power down but it didn't have any clothes aside from the one outfit it had corrupted in and it had torn when it powered down once and the newest arm and tail needed space. The sleeves ripped and the bottom of his pants barely stayed up now. It looked like after a werewolf woke up and the confused man stumbled out of the woods. Clothes torn from it's midnight madness.

"There isn't much reason for me to be out anyways. I don't have places to go. Just maybe being out to enjoy the day with weather that isn't electrical storms. Maybe eating something other than what the barracks have - but not saying I'm ungrateful. Just. You know. Cafeterias." It muttered.

"Oh. Well, that... sucks."

And it really sounded like it did.

Getting monstrous qualities sounded cool for fights and whatnot but to be stuck with them permanently? No thank you. As boring and as quiet as his daily life was outside of the Negaverse, Reid Covey enjoyed the simple side of things and having to kiss them all goodbye for a little extra chaos and some fuzzy ears sounded like a Bad Time if he'd ever heard of one.

"Sorry to hear that."

Um.

"Uh... the thing you're looking for rolled that way," he muttered softly, gesturing back behind him. He wasn't sure if calling it a toy or a ball would be appropriate since he was addressing some half-man as well as a half-dog, so he kept things light and simple.

"No need to be sorry. I wasn't a particularly great person with great things waiting for me. Things are better this way." This was better for everyone. No one would have to be disappointed or used and it didn't have to lie and pretend to be anyone it wasn't. It didn't need to spend the rest of its life blind with no skills to handle living in the world and slowly die in an apartment alone and bitter.

"Oh right. I forgot." It said as it mentioned the ball.

"It was nice meeting you. Maybe we will cross paths again."

Great was a relative term and Tyrolite had to wonder what the half-youma meant when he said he wasn't a great person. A conversation for another day, perhaps, as it seemed more interested in retrieving its lost object than lingering around.

"It was nice meeting you too," he offered, though "nice" was probably not the best word to use, at the moment. Interesting? Eventful?

Whatever the descriptor was, he'd met his first half-youma and definitely had more questions for his General for when he saw her next --- as well as gratitude for her not turning him into one of those things during his induction as an agent.

Offering a half wave, the Lieutenant made his way down the opposite direction of the hallway, back to whatever it was he was doing in the first place.
