[Akaris belongs to Meepfur, R'lyr belongs to Shaddaling.]
References and more in-depth information is below, but a couple of notes to start: •These are characters from a Dragonriders of Pern RP, so clothing is in the fantasy-medieval range, so nothing terribly modern. They're both pretty classy dressers, but both enjoy colorful looks, and Akaris definitely edges into scandalous at times. They can be pictured in the more utilitarian gear used for dragonriding, which I don't have good references on hand for, but it's just thick, fur-lined leather, meant to cover as much as possible for protection both from Thread and from cold. •No naughty bits/NSFW, please, but beyond that, anything from cute to steamy is fine. Or even just hanging around together. They do love to dance, and R'lyr definitely can and does pick her right up.

Akaris Name: Akaris Age: 21 (3553.05.22) Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Pansexual/Heteroromantic Craft: Brothel-worker Rank: Weyrling Location: Western Weyr High Reaches Weyr Physical Description: A touch on the tall side for a woman at 5'9", with dark skin, a slender waist, and ample curves, Akaris is a strikingly beautiful young woman well-suited to her profession. She's loathe to dress anything but prettily, but even when she has to dress for functionality rather than looks, she makes sure it's still well-cut and flattering. You never know when you might need to impress someone, after all. She has claw scars that run from her right hip down the outside of her thigh courtesy of an angry dragon hatchling.
Personality: Akaris is full of notions, but not a lot of sense. She thinks knows what she wants - or, more accurately, what she would like to have - but is rarely sure how to get it...or if she is, isn't keen on the work or effort involved. She'll daydream her day away with all the what-ifs and enchanting possibilities for who she could be or what she could do, but falls short when actually presented with the opportunity to make any of it happen. Because while she thinks she knows what she wants, what she wants can change at a moment's notice, what new notion strikes her and is suddenly better than the last; part of this is an inability to settle on just one thing out of so many, and partly a fear of commitment. If she chases one dream exclusively, she'll have to let go of all the other possibilities...and she'll have to actually apply herself to something fully and put in all the requisite work. Despite her reluctance to make impactful decisions, she's not without confidence in herself; she fully believes she could do any of things she wants to, it's just a matter of settling for one. She's not even entirely certain she wants to Impress a dragon, only that she wants to be a candidate and stay at Western forever.
While selective about the people she befriends in the first place (she prefers individuals who will accept her exactly as she is and won't openly push at or challenge her), she does stand by anyone she becomes close to. With people she knows and likes, or wants to be liked by, Akaris is sweet as pie. Be that as it may, she's still not the type to go above and beyond and do absolutely anything for her friends without question; she's unlikely to take anyone's chores or suffer through physical hardship for someone, unless she thinks she'll be getting something worthwhile in exchange, or they're one of the handful of people she really, truly loves. But if someone needs her assistance in a non-physical way, from advice to intervention in a relationship (good or bad), she's there all the way. She'll use rumor to her advantage, whether she's aiming for a negative or positive outcome, so if anyone crosses her or someone she cares about, they'll soon find themselves the center of some vicious but believable gossip.
Akaris tends to take the easiest route available to her at any given time, which for her generally means relying on good looks and practiced charm (often batting her eyes and playing up the pretty-but-helpless routine). If it doesn't work, she doesn't get flustered (that would be unattractive), but falls back on whatever the next best option seems to be. She can be selfish, though it's not necessarily intentional; she just doesn't always remember to consider the consequences or impact of her requests or actions (or lack of action). It simply doesn't occur to her that she could be inconveniencing others, but if it's brought to her attention and she is made to understand, she will be genuinely regretful. She has learned her leason, and as long as she understands where she went wrong, what was wrong about it and why, she will not repeat the mistake. She is also now much more likely to think through words and actions that could harm others (especially if those others are baby dragons), rather than acting out impulsively, but the everyday selfishness remains. Regimen and discipline are unfamiliar to her, and though she sorely needs both, she resents it when they're applied too directly. She has come around to undertaking hard work and applying herself to her chores and lessons, because she wants desperately to make her new family proud.
Her relationship with A'ral and R'mor - and Zinath and Junenth - is the totally unexpected yet welcome end result of the Worst Day Ever at the Touching for Vimiath's clutch. It's a day she tries to avoid the topic of, and will shut down talk of with anyone but a select few people, as it was both traumatizing and humiliating, and she is ashamed of what she did (but, again, good luck getting her to admit it unless you're special). She still tends toward dragon-shy, and is hesitant and uneasy around any she doesn't know well; quick movements, or loud or aggressive vocalizations, are likely to spook her, and unbonded hatchlings are straight-up terrifying.
Though she's grown significantly, Akaris retains a certain immaturity. She's clingy when she's afraid, doesn't take criticism or discipline well unless it's phrased gently (otherwise she will resent it and pout), and is no less vain than she was to start. She is quite convinced she's special, although she doesn't find it necessary to say so, because it should be fairly obvious. Did you see that she got to sit on Vimiath at the Hatching? Or the hat that A'ral gave her and let her wear for the beach clutch so she wouldn't get too much sun? Or that she gets to cuddle the Weyrleader's dragon? Yeah, she's special, and she will sharding own the special attention that some candidates might find mortifying, and you can bet she will keep right on holding hands with her dads during Hatchings if a certain very special young man isn't there. Got a problem with that? You're just jealous.
Having grown up in Bitra, she finds most of its entertainments range from boring to a waste of money and time. Cards are nothing but a way to pass the time, wherfights are terribly gauche, and alcohol is only appealing when it's fine enough to qualify as a luxury item. As far as a way to keep herself amused, she prefers reading and dramas...and gossip. She has a passing knowledge of self-defense, by necessity, and can cook a little, but overall is short on useful life skills. She is, albeit unconsciously (she is not very self-aware), more inclined to male friends than female, as other females register as competition to some degree, due to her growing up in a brothel.
Positive Trait List imaginative, charming, confident Negative Trait List indecisive, vain, immature
History: Akaris is a Bitra girl born and raised, the daughter of the madame of a brothel and one of her many clients. Lucky for Akaris, it was one of the higher-end brothels in the Hold, and her mother was well-off and well-respected, so keeping and taking care of her child was no difficulty or hardship. It was hardly a conventional upbringing, but the girl knew nothing different, and if anything enjoyed the large extended family of sorts, between the workers and their children. Her mother saw to it that she was literate and capable with numbers, and would have sent her to Crafthall if she wanted, but Akaris was perfectly happy to stay and, once she was of age, work in the brothel, which she found neither strange nor awkward. It was simply what she'd grown up with, and anticipated that she'd likely take over one day. Or maybe she could get a wealthy client to fall for her, or be swept off her feet by a charming rogue and carried off to paradise or adventure...
A few turns after she started working there, the brothel merged with another high-end entertainment house, bringing in more and better business. A couple of turns later, while on a visit to Black Sands, she was Searched by rider from Western. So of course she went! What dragon with good taste wouldn't want her? A gold would suit her best, of course, but a pretty little green or blue or tiny adorable white would do. The idea of Weyr life, however, was prettier than the reality, and after two weeks of harder work than she'd ever endured in her 20 turns, she was done. When a flit arrived with a letter from home, she sent it back with a plea to return, and a few days later, the rider employed by the entertainment house arrived to pick her up. But she wasn't quite done packing, or saying goodbye - she hadn't even made her intention to depart official - and then Vimiath's Flight happened. Suddenly, with a clutch imminent, she was having second thoughts (again), and changed her mind (again). Fi'o threatened that she wouldn't come back for her a second time, and though Akaris wavered, she ultimately stayed. If she didn't Impress, she thought she might get a job over in Rivercrest, or go to Courtesan Hall, or maybe just find an important rider to adorn the arm of, or this or that other thing.
But then the Touching happened, she ruined it and very nearly got chomped, and if she'd been allowed to, would have run away with her tail between her legs. That was not an option, however, and she had to stay for the Hatching...and shape up in the meantime, and work to deal with her brand new fear of dragons. She fully intended to get out as fast possible afterward, but somewhere in the midst of all that, she found that she had become very attached to the very people she had at first been certain were going to kick her out of the Weyr. She's ended up as part of a little family, and as a result she was finally decisive about one thing in her life: she never, ever wanted to leave Western.
However, when Western candidates were invited to stand for a Hatching at High Reaches, Akaris decided it would be good practice to attend another Hatching and try to get it "right"; after all no dragon would want her, so surely it was safe enough to go. How wrong she was! She limped off the Sands with a clawed thigh but, more importantly, the green dragon who had chosen her. Samodith was wonderful and perfect, but Impressing a dragon at High Reaches has left her unable to return to Western. She's not alone, at least: her (unofficial) boyfriend Impressed to a handsome brown dragon, so she has R'lyr to hang onto.

R'lyr Name: R'lyr (previously Rylyrr) Age: 26 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: Pan Craft: Courtesan/Dancer Rank:Apprentice Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description: At 6'8'' and around 250lbs of lean muscle, Rylyrr is the odd ball of the family built more like a smith than the typical lean sleekness of a dancer. He like his older brothers holds himself well, good posture and well balanced and a sort of readiness and quietness to his feet.
He has dark skin, with a cool undertone. He has a square face, with a firm militant jaw line and dark liquid eyes. He dresses in fabrics and cuts that let him move freely and wears gold earrings as his sole piece of adornment. He wears his black hair in dreads, and wakes up early to make sure they are properly clean and cared for.
Personality: Rylyrr is a confident and patience individual that keeps his cool mostly, he can get a bit reckless when competing against others. He has a bit of a drive to come up on top, even if he puts himself in a bit of a danger in getting to that point. He has great perseverance moving forward and never stopping till he gets what he needs.
Rylyrr likes the finer things in life, massages and fine food and well made clothing and in general pampering himself. He has had several causal relationships and rather relaxed in hooking up for a fun time.
Positive Trait List Confident, patience, perseverance Negative Trait List Competitive, Reckless, Hedonistic,
History: Rylyrr father was a blacksmith and it sort of shows. He is large and muscular but also has his mothers grace, moving with a pose and surprisingly amount of grace. He was learning dance at a young age and unlike his youngest siblings had been on the verge of being registered as an apprentice before his mother died. He has kept up with some of it, and much more prefers partner dances then solo ones.
He found himself raising his younger siblings for a few days with the help of Naolin till Shyn'ar and Aly'on had got word and came to get them. He never wants to repeat it, it is still a bit heart wrenching when he thinks of Jysayne's lost confused questioned and the way the twins hide to cry.
Aly'on arrived first in an emotional and colorful whirlwind of comfort and tears and Shyn'ar was the voice of reason, gently and carefully getting them up and moving. Rylyrr was relieved to let Aly'on gather up Jysanye and Shyn'ar to handle the twins.
High Reaches was different but he was tired and grieving and just wanted to sleep. The first few weeks were hazy as he worked through grief and home sickness but eventually he settled into the new place.
He spent two years in the creche, and while somewhat bitter at first couldn't really fault his brothers. Shyn'ar was barely 22 at that time and Aly'on 18 and they couldn't really care for the six of them and do their duties as riders.
Still didn't stop him from being bitter brat for a few weeks after the haze and then just sort of mostly accept they were doing the best they could.
Candidacy was exciting, in a way he some what expected to find his dragon early, Shyn'ar and Aly'on had both got their bond partners first try. Naolin had not but most people didn't the first couple of turns. His eldest brothers had just been lucky.
It been well a little over ten turns now, he still hasn't impressed, Naolin has left to try his luck on the Western continent and perhaps he is feeling a bit of pressure. What ever happens, he knows he has his family to back him up.
Other: Does Pern have Swing dancing? Fox Trot, Tango? Just in general I want Rylyrr to toss his siblings up and catch them and swing them around.
