He finally managed to find someone heading out on a patrol, more because he had heard them talking about it on their way out. Quotas were a magically thing that meant EVERYONE had to patrol or find themselves in some serious hot water otherwise. It was just hard that he couldn't just pop out without getting his own General raging at him and right now, he wanted nothing more than to keep Faustite pleased and in his good graces for the rest of his life.

When he heard that another agent was going out, he managed to slide up and ask (begged) if they were willing to take him along. Like a partner - when in actuality he was ordered not to go alone. A bit of security for a ex-traitor not to be wandering on his own and not have any alibi as to what he had been up to when out of sight.

And it was WONDERFUL. Once they teleported into Destiny City, he took a large inhale of fresh air. The sky wasn't a churning mass of electrical storms and the skyline was littered with streetlamps and skyscrapers and not ruined castles and crumbling spires. How beautiful. His tail was beating a mile a minute that he almost forgot about the stranger he came with.

Turning, he beamed back. "It's so nice out tonight!"

Fafnir stared at the strange... person that had pleaded to come out with him tonight. At least until he turned with those blank yellow eyes and grinned at him, prompting the corrupt to automatically smile back at him, even if some of his unease snuck through.

Ears... and a tail. And those claws... Fafnir did not have much experience with youma, beyond being menaced by them once in a while when he was out filling his quota, like tonight. This... man had an energy signature like other agents, but in a subtly different way he couldn't quite put a finger on.

"Ah... yes." He agreed haltingly, pulling his eyes away. Staring was rude, though how he was supposed to not stare...

"What did you say your name was again?" He covered his utter lack of social grace with a question instead, hoping he didn't seem quite as put off as he was. "I'm Fafnir, if I forgot to say that before. I've, ah... never met an agent like you, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little... unsure of myself."

"Oh sorry I got so wrapped up in finding a patrol partner that I forgot. I'm Vitriol." He moved over and slowly and carefully raised his hand to shake as best they could. "I haven't figured an alternative to the handshake yet." He admitted. "Don't worry. I don't mind agents." He joked.

"It's nice to meet you Fafnir. I'm guessing you mean half-youma. Which means that is.....not a youma bit?" He said using his other hand to point at his horns.

Offered a hand that was more of a paw, Fafnir took it gingerly, giving it as much of a shake as he could. It was an awkward affair, but this... Vitriol took it in stride, more or less.

"That's okay." He said as he released the paw. "I don't know if I've heard of any alternatives. Other than a fist bump, but that doesn't seem very formal."

It had been odd, feeling the strange structure of the other's hand, and the fur that covered it. Not quite like a dog, but certainly not human. His eyes drifted to the ears before he pulled them back, admonishing himself. It took him by surprise though, when his own horns were brought up...

"What?" He said blankly, following the line of 'finger'. The top of his head only bore horns, and suddenly he understood. "Oh! These? No, no..."

Fafnir pulled them free, shaking his head to settle his hair, and offered them out for inspection.

"Just a costume piece. Its kind of all a theme." He said. He'd never been able to really settle on what sort of material the horns were. They were similar to the scales on other parts of his uniform, but with their flexibility he'd supposed they were probably leather of some kind... But the ridged horns were something else altogether. "Fafnir is part of the Draco constellation. There is a story about a guy fighting a dragon named Fafnir too."

He still hadn't figured out how it related, but it was a strange coincidence.

It took the offered headpiece and looked at it, curious and yet slightly disappointed.

"So which one are you? The dragon or the dragon slayer?" He said, testing the size of the headpiece by placing it gentle upon his own head. Horns, curled and blue like lapis turning to a familiar purple that spoke of Rift crystal.

He watched as Vitriol put the horns on his head, amused and charmed despite himself at the horns sweeping past his fuzzy ears now. It was cute, though he didn't plan to comment on it.

"I don't know, I guess." Fafnir replied. He lifted and dropped his shoulders, the question tugging at him as he turned it over in his mind. "The dragon, I suppose."

He didn't much feel like going into that either. The man fighting the monster to save those the monster terrorized, or the monster who been made so against his will, and was doomed to die for it. Fafnir suppressed a shiver. Put that way, it was maybe a little more clear, and it didn't sit very well.

Was it rude to ask how the other had become part youma? He wanted to ask, but it didn't seem like a light conversation topic. Losing part of your humanity... or maybe just changing your appearance? He had no experience with the condition to guess.

"Ah... We should probably start our patrol. We've got a bit of ground to cover."

It handed the headband back, running a claw through it's hair to fix it.

"Sounds like a plan. This time of night the bars will be active. We can patrol some side streets and pick up people heading to their cars or the subway. They are usually easy to pick off and a passed-out drunk never alarmed anyone."

It started to move with the other.

It wasn't a bad plan... Vitriol was entirely right. Fafnir spent his fair share doing exactly what he proposed, and perhaps in this that, the experience was good. After all, the half-youma had wanted company that knew what they were doing, after a fashion.

Fafnir nodded before he took the lead, focusing his attention on travel and their surroundings. A part of his mind lingered on his companion though, and his questions. He couldn't quite put them out of his mind, or find the sort of focus he'd have been able to achieve with most anyone else.

"Do you... have any special talents we might use to our advantage tonight?" He offered after they'd traveled a good distance in silence, unable to keep to himself any longer. It seemed a diplomatic approach.

Fafnir was quiet for some time but Vitriol did not mind. It meant he was focused and he appreciated someone who took their patrols seriously. It was content to follow, look, listen, and to stay alert for any signatures or people. Eventually, Fafnir's voice cut through the silence.

"Not exactly. I have my claws of course and I can put a poison on them to make them sting badly. I'm mostly a direct offersive kind of fighter. I can always pretend to be some guy in a weird costume to distract someone while you approach them from behind."

"What are your abilities?" It asked.

Poison? That was interesting... and functional claws, though he'd never really doubted they were for more than show. Was Vitriol typical for his kind? Not having met another, he couldn't be sure.

"Hopefully we won't need to be directly offensive." Fafnir said as he slowed, taking a moment to look over the edge of a building as his hair slipped down his shoulders. What a pair they made... One in fur with wild eyes, the other something from a fantasy book cover. There was no way they wouldn't cause comment, out in the open.

"Hm? Oh." The corrupt shrugged as he straightened, running his hands back over his head. "My magic is Blight. I can breath poison, essentially, so we're similar in that respect. It makes people sick, which has been good thus far for misdirection and distraction."

"My general has spent a lot of time training me hand to hand, though, so its not the only tool in my pocket, so to speak. I think we're getting close. The last street had people, but its quieter down this way. I think I might prefer a surprise rush tonight, see if we can hit quick and efficient. I don't like getting tied up with someone for long periods, as inevitable as that is sometimes. Whoever gets closest can subdue, the other can drain. Sound good?"

It would be easier to drain quickly if he wasn't also trying to keep someone restrained, and vice versa, he could hold someone better if he didn't have half his mind on draining. Watching Vitriol drain, if it came to it, might be edifying.

"Sounds good. We should get in position on the ground then. I'll take this point beside this building." It said, moving over to the edge.

"I'm good with either. Been doing this for years." Vitriol said, hoping to instil some relief to the other officer that it wasn't inexperienced and could be relief upon.

Giving a little two-finger salute, it leapt down the side and landed..there was a rush of a rat the lieutenant disturbed that darted across the street and into the dark.

Kneeling and close to the wall, it cupped it's eyes a bit to help minimize the glow from them and waited..

It didn't take long. Destiny was always occupied by someone at any given time and a man in his twenties was pulling out his keys, staggering as he talked in the phone to a friend. They'd have to break the phone or hang it up the moment they attacked. They didn't need their voices or faces in any video or voice call.

The officer looked out to where Fafnir was and waited, ready.

"Years?" Fafnir echoed under his breath. The other... man was a lieutenant. If he'd been doing this for years, why hadn't he been promoted before now? The questions that simple statement brought up were not something he felt like he could voice with someone he had just met, but he still itched with the curiosity.

Half youma were an oddity he was going to need to dig into, if only to satisfy himself. It was horrifying and attractive all at the same time, leaving him unsure how to really feel about it. Pushing that down, he followed along behind, sliding to the other side with as quiet a step as he could manage. Metallia's power gave some benefits, but stealth was unfortunately not one of them. What skill he had, he had to work for. It had cost him, other nights... but whomever Vitriol had found, he was too distracted to notice the pair sneaking towards him.

The half youma looked towards him and Fafnir moved, pushing his unnatural speed. He hit the man and arms closed around him, bodies still in motion to carry them forward and between the cars. The stranger let out a yell, but Fafnir was quick to clap a hand over his mouth, pinning him to the side of one of the vehicles. The parking lot was silent, a single bulb light above throwing sharp shadows. It would likely not be empty for long... and while the cars offered some cover, Fafnir would be far more comfortable with this done and over, the 'donator' hidden between the vehicles.

"Your turn." He called softly, his eyes on the man that struggled against him.
