Durumi wasn't sure how to feel at the moment. She had been ill, every morning for the last week and it didn't last long, but long enough to make her question. At first she thought it was signs of PMS, perhaps a sickly one which normally didn't happen but every once in awhile she had one that made her sick and in pain.
Except her period didn't come, and it was a week late as well. She didn't think it was a true concern....but just in case, she had taken pregnancy test. Better safe, then sorry right? She had stared at the lines for a whole day, and moved on to the next step. A simple doctors visit to a planned parenthood (her preferred choice to go to, not because they were cheaper, but they offered walk ins.) had all but confirmed the pregnancy, and like magic, as soon as she found out she attempted to power up. She wasn't.
So since all the things were in place, there was one more and she bounced nervously, waiting for Magiore to return home so she could drop it on him. Literally. When he did come home, he'd find her in the kitchen brewing some tea, decaffeinated with a book opened on the counter.

Magiore had held Durumi's hair back as she'd thrown up in the bathroom at least twice this past week, though he'd missed the rest of the times since he'd left early for work. And when he had left this morning, she had looked pale and drawn, her expression a little nauseated, even as he'd kissed her forehead as he'd picked up his coat to head to Romano's.
She'd eaten something wrong, maybe; Magiore wasn't sure what. They'd eaten out once or twice in the last week when things had been particularly busy and neither had felt like cooking, but Magiore felt fine, and Durumi didn't, and they'd eaten almost the same thing - or at least similar things.
Maybe she had the flu. That was also an option, and while winter was steadily sliding into spring, they had had some obscenely cold days these last few weeks. It wasn't unreasonable to think she'd concocted something, what with how the weather was ridiculous and unstable.
He'd gone to work, but Magiore left early, leaving his last class of the day to a substitute. From Romano's, he'd driven straight back to the manor he shared with his wife and Tatsuya, though the latter was currently out somewhere. Magiore unlocked the front door, and stepped inside, dropping his keys on the stand in the hall and slinging his coat up on the rack.
"Rumi?"
She was in the kitchen. Magiore made his way towards her, reaching out to gently touch her shoulder.
"Hey," he said, offering her a small smile; a rare thing, because she was the only person he smiled for other than his sister and other than one or two scant people. "How are you feeling? Did you go the doctor?"

She had been stirring the spoon in her tea for awhile now, even as she heard Magiore's voice in the hallway. It was, she thought, such a comfort to know that he was there with her. And unlike their dystopion future, she was not in hiding with him. No, their home was open. Welcoming and so, she thought, would be the baby when it came. She assumed that regardless of her being a Dark mirror senshi, the negaverse would provide safety net for hers and her general of a husband.
She did not fear for its future, like she had in the not future memories. Her hand came to cover his, and while she was no longer green in the face, she was still a bit pale. She took a sip of her tea before turning fully and looking into the handsome smiling face. It was almost natural to kiss his cheek.
"Welcome home Husband of mine." She smiled at him, reaching up to pat his cheek. "I did indeed. I have a bit of news to share anyways."
She cleared her throat, sipping her tea and thinking of best how to do it. Calmly. Probably best to ease into it. Let him catch some hints while she spoke.
"I'm pregnant!!!!" She set the tea down on the counter, taking both of this hands and lifting them. "Congratulations Magiore, You're going to be a father."
Nailed it.

Magiore had not thought of their Dystopian future in a long time. Not because he had forgotten about - quite the opposite, in fact - but because he had made a future for himself that was different than the one they had both seen all those years ago. The two of them had created a world that was just for them, and it had started to steadily replace the bleak and dark visions that had once seemed so overwhelming and so sure.
He had Durumi now. That was what he had needed, and the visions of the future had started them on their path together, that was at least for certain - but it didn't mean that they were set in stone. They were forging their own path and they were walking it together.
"Thank you, wife," said Magiore, a touch of amusement in his tone. He let his hand drift from her shoulder down to her back, leaning in to kiss her forehead before drawing back again. He reached for the cabinet, opening one of the doors overhead to pull out a mug for himself, but Durumi was turning to look at him, and her eyes were bright and shining.
"News?" Magiore repeated, looking slightly bemused. Her hands found his, his own still holding the mug, and -
You're going to be a father.
The mug dropped from Magiore's fingers and landed with a crash on the floor, shattering instantly. He didn't seem to have noticed, staring at Durumi with a frozen expression on his face, as rigid as a statue. He possibly had turned into a statue.
After a long (long) moment, he said, very slowly, "...what?"

Durumi noticed. She totally should have eased him into it. Like 100% eased him into it. She grabbed a towel, leaning down to clean it up and grab larger shards so they didn't step on them.
"I said..." She looked up at him, watching his face. He was frozen there, and she wasn't sure how to act afterwards. She wanted happiness, and perhaps glee.
She really wanted him to be okay with it. "I was pregnant."
She looked up, "Just like in the dreams...."

His mind was going a thousand miles a second.
Magiore was dimly aware that Durumi was cleaning up the spilled tea and his broken mug, and then more aware of when she looked up at him, her eyes meeting his. He felt something in his throat constrict a little, Magiore swallowing hard, and then -
I was pregnant. Just like in the dreams.
He remembered those dreams. He remembered the fear and the darkness and the chaos around them. He remembered the pain and the heartache and the fact that it had been those dreams that had brought him to Mintaka in the first place, and how they had met, and how they had connected. A place of sadness and loss of hope.
But this was not that time. They had changed that future into the this one. There was no longer the agony or despair.
Slowly, Magiore sank to his knees on the floor in front of Durumi. He reached out and took her hands, pulling them away from the broken shards of glass, and met her eyes, his own searching hers, something hard and fast beating against his chest.
"You...you're pregnant," he repeated, in a very quiet voice. "Really?"
His eyes were a little too bright, his voice barely containing the hope that had ebbed into it. "I get to be a father?"

The future they had shared in dreams had been....
Wild. If she was to put it bluntly. They had barely known each other as Aurostibite and Mintaka. She had been a super senshi, and him, a Lieutenant. It almost seemed surreal that was 5 years ago. But in the dreams, it had been 5 years in the future.
She hadn't corrupted, she had been a sanctuary for those who seeked refuge from war. She helped some escape Negaverse, offered medical to dark mirrors and before she had become pregnant, fought to help white moons escape.
And she had been trapped in a battlefield, ripped apart before she could even fully enjoy a pregnancy. Auro had never known....She never even got to say goodbye to him.
But now, as he took her hands and raised them, his voice shaky at first. The question made her giggle and she threw arms around his neck.
"Yes!" She nodded, "You get to be a father!" She nuzzled against his neck, "Our family is expanding. We have so much to plan for!" She took a deep breath, "Like a baby room and telling Tatsuya and...and so much!"

His mind seemed to not want to process this; as though it was too great and too precious and too life changing to actually comprehend properly. Magiore's emotions were twisting and curling and undulating inside of him like a storm, all tangled up in one another, so that it was hard to tell what was the right emotion to have and what was just instinctive.
Durumi's laugh brought him back to reality. Her arms were around his neck, and for a moment, he still couldn't react; but then slowly he slid his own around her slender waist, and pulled her to him, gathering her close. Something about his heartbeat seemed irregular, going too fast to be normal.
"A father," he repeated, as Durumi's face pressed into his neck. "Me."
He kept repeating words, stupidly, like this would somehow get things to be more real than they already wore. Then his arms were tightening around his wife, clutching her, and Magiore buried his face into Durumi's hair, his shoulders shaking slightly.
"Yes," he said thickly, and there was emotion in his voice that was rarely heard. "We'll have to - tell Tatsuya - and a baby room - and names and - "
His heart was going to burst. He clung to his wife like she was his only lifeline, and she was. His face felt wet.
"I can't believe it. We're going to be parents."

"I can't power up." It seemed important to share that too, "It was like that in the...dream world thing. I can't power up, so I'll be spending more time here. I wanna start on some house projects and get a baby room-" She laughed as she heard the emotion in his voice, taking his face and wiping the tears away.
"I know....I know it'll be hard with both of us being how we are!" She thought of the powered lives, "But...but yeah. Do you think the Negaverse will allow you some time off...at the end?" She wondered if him being a general would effect like...
Paternal time.
How did it work?
How did being a dark mirror effect her pregnancy?

Not being able to power up was a major and dangerous caveat, but Magiore knew that it was equally as dangerous to put herself in danger while carrying their child. He took a breath and nodded, his face still in her hair, but Durumi had pulled back, her hands on his face, wiping away the dampness.
She was already so perfect. And now he would have...everything. He would have everything.
It still felt surreal. It still felt earth shatteringly unreal. But it was real. Magiore ran fingers through Durumi's hair, stroking some of the pale strands away from her cheek.
"I'm sure I can take some time off," he said firmly. "They can do without me for a little while. I can increase some of the quotas in order to bring in more energy while I'm away."
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead before drawing back again. "It'll be...different," Magiore admitted. "But in a good way. And a baby room..."
His eyes grew a little far away, as if remembering again what was happening. "A baby room," he repeated, and then, "Have you told Tatsuya yet?"

"I haven't yet! I wanted to tell you first. Levi and Tatsuya afterwards. Plus Tatsuya has been busy with his own patrols." She rubbed her tummy, thinking of the life that was currently growing there.
How she got to this point, she would never know. But it was such a good point to be so....
"Can we make the baby room cranes?" She smiled at him, "Do you think that would be a cute theme?"
