The histories on C'lusi and R'shahar don't include more recent developments, but the physical descriptions and personalities are accurate! SInce I know it's all a lot to read and totally understand if you just skim, I do have a few important notes:
•C'lusi is missing his right arm, from just below the shoulder.
Height difference! R'shahar is a tree at 7', C'lusi is 6'3", and Nadry is all of 5'4". xd (Seriously, R'shahar could pick the other two up Gaston-style, no problem. He is a big man.)
•These are characters from a Dragonriders of Pern RP, so clothing is in the fantasy-medieval range, so nothing terribly modern. R'shahar tends toward classier styles, while C'lusi can range anywhere from class to edgy/scandalous (and they both love leather pants XD). Nadry tends to prefer dresses and skirts to pants, and doesn't usually go for for anything really overtly sexy/revealing but might experiment a little. For colors, whatever helps them all look good together is great! Another option for clothing is dragonriding gear, which C'lusi is modeling an example of below - it's all thick, fur-lined leather, meant to cover as much as possible for protection both from Thread and from cold. If you choose to go for riding gear, you're welcome to leave the helmets and goggles off.
•They do all have a scattering of unspecified scars on their bodies from fighting "Thread": in Pern canon, Thread is a sort of weird, long silver spore that falls to the planet and eats through anything organic, and can only be killed by burning (hence the need for dragons), freezing, or drowning. The scars it leaves behind are somewhere between a burn and a laceration. None of them have taken hits to the face, but anywhere else is fair game for scars.
•No naughty bits/NSFW, please, but beyond that, anything from cute to steamy is fine. Or even just hanging around together.

[Nadry belongs to Meepfur, C'lusi belongs to Uta, and R'shahar belongs to Mr Cheri]

Nadry | Character Profile
inspiration board

Name: Nadry
Age: 18 (13.24.3556)
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Assumed Heterosexual (actually leans bi)
Craft: None
Rank: Wingrider
Location: High Reaches
Physical Description:
5'4" in height, Nadry has grown into a fine feminine figure, in good physical shape but still soft in the right places. Once someone dismissed as plain, she's benefitted from Impressing a dragon, and the charisma and little 'something extra' that comes with it. Still, she's long since absorbed that she is utterly unremarkable, and still does her best to make up for it by dressing well. She keeps herself well-groomed, her black hair long and adorned with pretty accessories, and her clothes clean and properly mended.

Personality/History:
Polite. If she doesn't have something nice to say, she doesn't say it! (Well, most of the time.) Not that she doesn't necessarily think mean or inappropriate things, she just has a very good hold on her tongue. She treats everyone with habitual courtesy, no matter who they are, although she does become more formal about it when speaking to someone of authority - not that she's ever actually informal. Casual isn't something Nadry knows how to be, so in that respect, she can be a very distant individual; she doesn't know how to relax, which isn't conducive to getting to really know people and making friends. She doesn't realize that she's getting in her own way, however, and during Candidacy especially was continually dismayed by her lack of close friends, and a little jealous of those who had them. She did eventually form very close bonds with her fellow Candidates - and soon after fellow Weyrlings - G'ran and Ichta, and developed several other friendships within her Weyrling class...and a crush on one named C'lusi: disarmingly handsome, charming, a little bit older, and thus an almost inevitable crush for an inexperienced little cotholder girl. A crush who happened to already be taken, so of course she wrote it off and never pursued it (not that she would have regardless!). No one was more surprised than she when the interest she'd tried to keep to herself was returned - not only by C'lusi, but by his bronzerider beau R'shahar. They swept her up (rather literally), and they've been a trio ever since. Having lacked very close bonds for most of her life, and now disowned by most of her biological family, Nadry has proved prone to clinginess, with both her friends and her loves.

Nadry was raised to be a bit of a goody two-shoes, easily scandalized by rudeness and rule-breaking. People are supposed to be polite, to behave a certain way, and to follow the rules. Since Impressing to Menankith, however, she has learned to question some rules and expectations, particularly about how a 'lady' is supposed to behave and what they can achieve. However, if someone is rude or mean, she she can still become very flustered, and can lose her own cool and respond in kind.

She absolutely hates to be dirty, and though she's learned to tolerate it, especially in the course of work that needs doing, she'll clean herself up at the very first opportunity. She is very appearance-conscious, and most of her spare marks will ultimately be spent on clothes and accessories; influenced by her changing views, growing confidence, and very stylish boyfriends, her style is gradually becoming less conservative. She's adapted fairly well to Weyr life, although she did have trouble adjusting to the very "loose" culture of Weyrs in terms of sex and relationships, due to her highly conservative upbringing and a resulting fear of the unknown. This has since been mostly left behind, although she will stick to her committed relationship, thank you.

Ultimately, Nadry is a teenager whose black and white world has gotten rather gray in the last few Turns, who's only just recently discovered a voice and the ability to make decisions, draw her own conclusions, and go her own way if she chooses, and she's still working on what to do with that. Fortunately, she has her dragon, Menankith, to help her along, and a mentor in the form of fellow brownrider and former mercenary captain, Illa.

Nadry was raised in a small cothold, the youngest in a line of six children, and the only girl. Her mother, who married at 15 and began having children soon after, never took up a craft, while her Tanner father supported them. Her mother was overjoyed at 31 to finally have a girl, and put a great deal of effort into raising her to be a proper young lady: demure, composed, and well-kept. Her family isn't wealthy by any means, but it was impressed upon her from an early age that while her dresses might not be the most expensive (nor she the greatest beauty, for that matter), she could at the very least take good care of them and look presentable. The result has been a rather fastidious, appearance-conscious young woman, who was expected to attract a suitor by virtue of being a respectable girl from a respectable family.

Three of her five brothers followed their father's example and became Tanners (the second took up Smithing and the youngest Woodcrafting), but the first and oldest was Searched as a Journeyman in Keroon and ended up a dragonrider in High Reaches. The opportunity to take up a craft was never presented to Nadry, nor did it ever really occur to her that she could; it just wasn't done in her family, or really in her cothold, aside from the midwife and an eccentric old herbalist. The latter was a pleasant woman, if odd, from whom she learned a few little things, but as she reached her teenage years her mother discouraged it. It was the first time in her life Nadry experienced any real discontent, but she obeyed and busied herself with more appropriately 'feminine' tasks as her mother began more seriously exploring possible matches for her.

When Nadry was 14, her second oldest brother's wife died giving birth to their fifth child, and suddenly the inevitability of marriage and children became terrifying and unacceptable. Nadry began sneaking off to visit the herbalist, Ellinis, again, though outwardly she continued to behave as expected. One day, when her oldest brother M'yk came to visit, as he did about twice a Turn, he brought a bluerider wingmate with him, whose dragon proceeded to point out that Nadry had potential. So it was that she was Searched and agreed to go, much to the ire of her mother. It was one thing for one of her sons to wind up in a Weyr, but her daughter? She was livid, but what was done was done, and there would at least be M'yk to look out for her...who was considerably less than thrilled about having that responsibility. The idea of his baby sister in a Weyr was horrifying to him.

When Thread appeared a Turn later, he was even less happy, and began trying in earnest to convince her to leave - go home, go to a Crafthall, do anything but Stand - but she resisted. Once she was given a choice in what she would do with her life, she was done letting everyone else make decisions for her. While the idea of fighting Thread was intimidating, the prospect of going back home to an empty future was far worse. At her first Touching, she took her time touching and greeting a few of the eggs, but after being 'proper' and paying her respects to the Queen egg, she went on to touch a medium-large, green-shelled egg that, by its size, and in this one immediately found everything she didn't even know she needed. Looking into her mind, the dragon inside the egg was horrified that she had been so stifled, always told what to think and do and be, and in the short time it had with her, tried to show her that that was wrong, and she could be whatever she wanted to be. There was only one problem: an egg that size would almost certainly hatch out to be a brown dragon, which in traditional High Reaches typically Impress to men. Lucky for her, when it came time for the eggs to hatch, the brown he hatched from the dark green egg proved to be anything but traditional, and chose her to be His.

Nearly two Turns have passed since, and while they still have a lot to learn, they're determined to prove themselves and grow into the heroes they know they're meant to be.

Clothing Notes:
Clothing is in the fantasy-medieval range, so nothing terribly modern. Nadry tends to prefer dresses and skirts to pants, and doesn't usually go for for anything really overtly sexy/revealing but might experiment a little. Another option for clothing is dragonriding gear - it's all thick, fur-lined leather, meant to cover as much as possible for protection both from Thread and from cold. This also includes a helmet and goggles, but those can be left off. Here is an example of riding gear by one of the founders of Echoes of Pern.

C'lusi | Character Profile

Name: C'lusi (Cahlusi)
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Flexible
Craft: Apprentice Harper
Rank: Wingrider
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description: Cahlusi is tall, trim, and athletic. He stands a solid 6'3". He has his father's dark brown hair, which he keeps about shoulder length, though he has been known to grow it out long. Sometimes he'll throw a braid or two in it, or let his sister or mother style it should they feel so inclined. He's an attractive man, having inherited the best features from both his mother and father. He inherited his father's sharp features, thick brows, broad shoulders, and brown eyes, but was able to retain his mother's long limbs, her fair skin, and her graces. As a result of a catastrophic Threadfighting accident, he is now missing his right arm all the way to the shoulder.

Personality: Cahlusi is a heart-breaker, through and through. Ever since he was a small child, he had a way of charming the ladies; and as he got older and into his teens, he learned how to charm the men as well. He's naturally a benevolent soul; kind, gentle, and full of warmth. If someone is in need, then Cahlusi will go out of his way to help. He likes to help the newer Candidates get acquainted with the lifestyle of the Weyr, and will never hesitate to be there for his mother or sister.

It could be said that Cahlusi is a lover of love. He's always loved the great romances of Harper's tales, and is the first to gossip about the latest passion (or scandal) in the Weyr. There's just something satisfying about blooming romance that Cahlusi can't get enough of; unfortunately, when the bloom has rubbed off, that's when this man begins to stray.

For all his charm, Cahlusi can't help but be dissatisfied. Similar to his mother, he has a tendency to constantly want something better, or something more, than his current position provides. While he knows he's in a good spot, he can't help but imagine what it might be like being somewhere else. He is living representation of the saying 'The grass is always greener on the other side.' As soon as Cahlusi gets what he wants, he soon after grows bored, or realizes what he wanted wasn't as good as he'd imagined.

This lack of satisfaction also makes him competitive in nature. Not only does Cahlusi want the best but he wants to be the best. No matter the task, if he thinks someone is doing something better, he'll try to do what he can to beat them. If there's a song he can't master, he'll work until he manages it. Cahlusi wants everything to be picture perfect -- Surely, if he succeeds, he'll be satisfied then, right? This can cause him trouble when he's working on composing a song, or worse, trying to pick out an outfit to wear. All he wants is to look, and be, perfect; why is it so hard to obtain!?

Ah, but Cahlusi isn't a bad man. Family will always come first. While he makes many friends, his most near and dear friends are pulled into his family circle. He will defend them with his life. He's seen the cruel things people can do; he knows they can gossip and spread rumors, and he will put a stop to anyone who harms his family. Should any man get too close to his mother or sister, he'll need to have words, or at least scope them out. He remembers his childhood, and what it was like; he doesn't want them to ever be put in such a position again. As far as he's concerned, his mother and sister are his world and can do no wrong. He'd drop everything if one of them was in need.

At his heart of hearts, all Cahlusi wants that picture perfect dream - acceptance, love, and happiness. He wants a happily-ever-after, and all the fine things in life. Unfortunately, he's at an age where he simply doesn't seem to know how to find any of it and is shooting himself in the foot trying to find it.

Positive Trait List Benevolent, Protective, Romantic
Negative Trait List Indulgent, Dissatisfied, Perfectionist
History: Cahlusi is the eldest son of an ex-Courtesan, Alusia, and a temperamental but handsome blacksmith, Cahlumet. He was initially born in a small mining Hold outside of Crom. It was a tiny place; backwards, boring, and essentially out in the middle of nowhere. Cahlusi doesn't remember too much about his childhood; he remembers playing with his father's tools and getting yelled at; he remembers his father's yelling at his mother, and sometimes worse; he remembers his mother crying behind closed door; he remembers being sent outside for long hours while his father napped; and of course, getting in trouble when he tried some of the wine his father always had around.

There were good memories of his childhood, such as playing with his mothers jewelry, or admiring the weaponry and metalwork his father could make. A local Harper had passed through the area, and he'd given Cahlusi a wooden flute to play and practice on. He remembers the man giving him some lessons, and then giving his mother some private lessons later. He remembers listening to the Harper play, and wanting to make beautiful music; it made the bad days better, or so his mother said. He remembers when the Harper left, and it upset him so much that he cried.

Most of all, though, he remembers when they moved. Mostly, he remembers being woken up at night, and having to be quiet when they made their escape. It had been a long journey but eventually they were picked up by a dragonrider, and brought to High Reaches Weyr.

The Weyr is what Cahlusi really remembers. If anybody asked he'd call himself weyrbred. It was the place that gave his mother a safe haven, and allowed the fights to end. Cahlusi never really missed his father, and tries hard not to think of the man. He's never had any inclination to go near Crom Hold, or its surrounding territories, and has some biases against male blacksmiths. He doesn't know the details of what happened with his mother and father, but he remembers enough to know that his father was a strict man; while he remembers the scent of his cologne mixed with the alcohol, and the man's rages. Any good memories are often bittersweet for Cahlusi -- he might have been little, but he'd never forget how they had been treated. How his mother had been treated.

At a young age, Cahlusi vowed never to be like him.

He was 6 Turns old when they arrived at High Reaches Weyr. His mother was pregnant, and his sister nothing more than a toddler. He was old enough to know that he was the man of their family, and he became very protective of them. Not only was the Weyr unlike any place he'd ever been, but it was huge compared to their tiny Hold. For awhile Cahlusi was a suspicious child. He didn't want to leave his mother's side, or his sister's for that matter. He didn't want them to get hurt. Why would this place be any better than back home?

Ah, but it was better. There were far more children for Cahlusi to play with and best of all, nobody seemed to mind or care that his mother was a single lady now. There were no rumors spread about; there were no fights; and best of all, Cahlimet wasn't there. Oh, certainly, Cahlusi missed his father -- he had loved him with a child's heart and yearning even while he hated the things that he did. But now he didn't have to worry about his mother or sister getting in trouble.

So it was, the young man soon was accepted into the fold of local High Reaches weyrbrats.

Growing up, he took well to Weyrlife. His mother seemed happier in some ways, and he found himself countless friends, as well as all sorts of trouble. As he grew, he made friends with some of the local weyrsingers, who encouraged his growth. At turn 11, he was officially apprenticed under one of the local Harpers stationed at the Weyr. He refused to be sent to the Harper Hall for more official training -- he wanted his chance to Impress, and wasn't going to give it up for anyone.

At Turn 14 he stood for his first Hatching, much to his mother's delight. He didn't find his lifemate, and has been standing ever since, but he's not worried. He's certain that there's a match out there for him, and he has time yet. He's not that old!

Cahlusi has a handful for friends, as well as a trail of broken hearts. Ah, but he doesn't care. He's not in a rush to settle down. He has all the time in the world, doesn't he?

With Thread's return, Cahlusi has only become more determined to Impress. While he understands that it's the dragon's choice, he can't help but feel that surely, the right partner is out there for him. He's proud to be from High Reaches Weyr, and proud that his home had the foresight to prepare for Thread's return. While he hates to see the pain Thread causes, right now, in his youth, it's still something of a great adventure.

Other: He has a lovely baritone voice. He's also well gifted with flute, harp, and guitar. He's no Master, but he keeps music as an escape from stresses.

Since he doesn't have any handy little avatars available, here are a couple of RP excerpts that demonstrate his style:
(The first one also works as a ref for R'shahar!)
Quote:

They had been up for hours, bantering back and forth, trying on clothes, taking off clothes, trying on different clothes, looking for clothes, trying to accessorize, finding the perfect accessory but now needing to change the original outfit, it was no surprise C'lusi and R'shahar were fashionably late. As some of the most fashionable men in the Weyr (according to C'lusi) it was no surprise they wanted to show up to the feast to turn heads. But there was one head in particular that they were hoping to turn.... a first real date with one known as Nadry.

C'lusi had opted to wear a well-tailored dark blue tunic -- because he did rather enjoy the color, and Macuith did prefer it -- with beautifully woven silver and black trim. He opted for three belts -- simply as a fashion statement, one thicker belt, and two looser straps -- and wore tight khaki pants to match. With knee-high black boots, and some leather bracers, he tied it all together with some silver earrings, a silver brow piercing, and a few silver rings. He kept his hair styled and brushed, pulling it back loosely in a blue cord.

R'shahar, for his part, had made sure to trim his goatee, and styled his hair. He had opted for an outfit C'lusi had insisted on -- a dark green tunic, complete with a black vest. Tight black pants -- when aren't they tight? -- were coupled with black leather boots. Silver and emerald piercings were in place, and along with black leather bracers, he made a very sexy, seven foot tall man.

Viandarth did the honors of taking the two down to the Weyrbowl, though Macuith twirled down to settle nearby with his usual flash and flare. Menankith! Do you have room to spare for Viandarth and I? Or shall we leave you to other company? The blue couldn't hide the fact that he wanted both Viandarth and Menankith near this day. And why shouldn't he? His dear brown clutchsibs, and his gorgeous bronze.... What a trio they might make! And, of course, he did wish to coo over the little babies.

Green-blue eyes looked over the assembled gathering - -he spotted Cynosuth and Aresoth cooing over the littles, as well as Cordrath and Susurinth. Still, he wasn't going to rush over. Instead, he wrapped his tail loosely around Viandarth's, waiting to see if the brown was interested or if he would spend the afternoon with Vi.

Either way, it was a win for Macuith.

C'lusi, for his part, leaned up to give R'shahar a kiss. "You look stunning, babe," he purred, before taking his arm, and leading him forward. This would be their first real outing with Nadry -- their first official date -- and he was a mix of anticipation and nervousness. He wasn't the sort to worry over these things -- but he loved R'shahar, and cared deeply for Nadry. He didn't want to hurt either one of them, but oh, if this could but work.... It really was what he wanted.

It took a little navigating, but he finally caught sight of the familiar figure -- and what a figure it was! Dressed in pale purple dress, one that fit her form nicely, and with her hair styled as it was, she looked gorgeous. "Nadry!" He called out, hoping to catch her attention. Tightening his grip on R'shahar, even as he hurried to bridge the distance between them.

Quote:

C'lusi & blue Macuith
He was running a bit late to the feast. Nadry had gone on ahead, and C'lusi had rather gotten wrapped up in both figuring out what he was going to wear. R'shahar was on guest duty, picking up those with enough rank and sway with the Weyr to come on back of a bronze. Nobody had asked C'lusi to pick up anyone, but he supposed that was just as well--it gave him more time to decide on what to wear.

In his typical fashion, the man cared very little about what was proper and what wasn't. He simply wanted to look good. So he settled on a mesh shirt, and a fur-lined tunic of dark blue that was literally held together by a few ties and belts. It showed more than enough skin, but the mesh at least made it somewhat more appropriate. His pants were black leather, with a few more buckled straps attached, and boots that went up to his knees. A bit of silver jewelry to make things pop, and a bit of eyeliner finished his look. There. That was surely tempting enough, wasn't it?

A bit of a tease on any eyes that fell upon him; showing just enough skin to tempt, and perhaps to be a bit scandalous especially in winter. And yet... C'lusi knew how to keep warm.

So it was, Macuith happily dropped off His at the entrance of the Feast, before looking for his own date. Menankith! Care for a bit of company, love? I've got a wing in which to keep you warm. He gave a croon, eyes whirling a purple-blue as he looked for a familiar brown. He figured they could both wait for a certain bronze to join them, and until then, he'd have no trouble keeping Menankith warm and cozy.

C'lusi, for his part, was looking for a certain rider. His eyes might have admired other guests as he passed, but it was only when he caught sight of her near the tables, chatting up with another that his eyes brightened. From what he saw, she looked amazing. The red dress was absolutely divine--no wonder she was being chatted up by some stranger.

Like a feline on the prowl, C'lusi sauntered over and had no trouble interrupting. "Forgive the interruption but enjoying the sweets, my sweet?" He purred, sliding up to Nadry and pulling her easily and confidentially into his arms. As if he were the shy sort. As if he didn't have free allowance after all this time. Besides which--he wasn't the jealous sort, but he didn't know who this stranger was, and he needed to ensure that anyone in the Weyr knew she was firmly taken.

Still, his smile was genuine, and friendly, and he did give the other an appraising look. If Nadry had pointed out her brother during the Hatching, having sat so far up in the Tiers, seeing him far away was different then meeting him up close. He hadn't put the connection together quite yet...

R'shahar | Character Profile

Name: R'shahar
Age: 26
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Why don't you come find out?
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Mercenary/Assassin
Physical Description: Towering at 7', R'shahar is a little taller than his fathers, a fact that pleases him inordinately. He is also one solid man, in extremely fit shape due to an inherited neuroses and vanity. Like father like son. Does anyone want two tickets to the gun show? Yeah, he's got them right here. His hair is cropped relatively short, and is a dark red that borders on black. He has his father's grey-green eyes, and a particularly sharp smirk. He has a tattoo of a Bronze dragon that ranges all across his chest to drape over his shoulders and along his back. (Skintone is like the dark-haired character here, who is his biological father.)
Personality: When R'shahar devotes himself, he does so to the hilt. His affection, once given, will be the possession of whomever dares to claim it. He portrays himself as fearless, but in truth, his greatest fear is that he will not be able to protect those whom he loves. That he is not good enough, strong enough, or clever enough to keep his family and friends safe. He treasures them beyond price, and cannot bear the thought of losing them. There is a sort of hidden fragility within the man, as if he was born with a flaw in an otherwise carefully faceted psyche. Yet in a way, that flaw makes him who he is, and like any cut gem, he shines the brighter for it.

He is a man of strong principles, who truly believes in his role as arbitrator of justice. Admittedly, those principles can seem rather muddy to others, who don't understand why he once filled the role of sell sword. While he was particular about the jobs he took, especially the secret assassin jobs, he could not say that he never made mistakes. That is impossible, and death is quite final. No one ever had the opportunity to find the error of their ways, and turn over a new leaf. All the same, he has no shame for the part he played in their deaths. They wouldn't have been on his list if they had been good people. Yet it was this moral dilemma that led to his transition from hired killer to dragonrider.

He can be extremely possessive. He is not one to easily fall in love, but if he were to do so, that would be it. There would be no other man after the first, and he had best hope that they, too, were loyal. A profoundly determined man, he does not readily give up on a project once he has started it. He will see it through if at all possible, often to foolish extents. There is nothing that he would not do in order to keep his word, and where he has fallen short it will haunt him.
Positive Trait List Devoted, implacable, dogged
Negative Trait List Vulnerable, possessive, foolhardy
History: When he was a boy, he was somewhat aware of the fact that his father was an exile. At the time it didn't seem to matter terribly much because they wandered a lot. Both of his fathers were mercenaries, trained in the style of their particular Igenese band. His grandparents were the leaders of the most notorious band of Igenese nomads, his grandmother the first among them. His aunt, who was by blood his mother, followed in her parents footsteps. Shahrahzad, Jahangir, and Roshan made for a hard act to follow, but the young woman was determined. While she made a name for herself as a particularly blood thirsty warrior, Rishahar's blood father was falling in love with her own brother, Shahjahan. Now Sh'han, and a rider, the man found it terribly amusing to torment his lover, letting him think for a long time that his heart did not belong to him. Yet K'var persisted, determined to be Sh'han's weyrmate.

When they were ready for a child, they turned to Sh'han's sister, who was interested in seeing her bloodline continue, but less interested in actually handling the rearing of that child. So she became Rishahar's dame, his mother in blood, if not in spirit. ... Which was a very long way of explaining how the young man came to be.

In any event, he himself was trained to be a mercenary, although he has a very particular sort of job that he's willing to do. He'll take on marks that suit him, and only those, much to his father's amusement. But what isn't to his father's amusement, in the end? As a young boy he was allowed to play, just like any other child, and he took a particular delight in doing so with his growing family. He is not the eldest child, but he is the first child whose blood can be traced to both parents. His older brother Arishahn is Sh'han's child by means of a Flight. Several other siblings were adopted, some of whom he hasn't actually met yet. In other words, he has a large and chaotic family, but they love one another, which is the important.

When he showed promise in the family business, he was apprenticed to his father, although his own methods were a little less messy. Sh'han seemed to think that he was allowing his principles to get in the way of his work, but on the other hand, if it made the kid happy, why not? Still, there would come a day when he would have to face the fact that what they do is not blameless, and their hands are very much bloodied after the Turns they've spent at the practice. It seemed that his other father did not entirely approve of the assassin side of their work, but Rishahar argued his case to him. After all, sometimes being a mercenary alone was not the answer. Where a war might drag on and involve innocent people, a single assassin could wipe out the cause of the war at the very root.

They had the argument a number of times, and each time Rishahar tried to prove that he was doing the right thing, even if the argument was a bit difficult to make. Finally, he struck out for High Reaches Weyr to take a contract awaiting him there. However, much to his surprise he found himself Standing at the Hatching instead. For although both of his parents were riders, neither dragon had mentioned anything in particular about the boy. When he left the Sands with Viandarth, he was dazed and a little confused. How had his life gone so quickly sideways? And how would he continue his important work? However, before long he decided that this would resolve his moral quandary, and he chose becoming a rider full time above returning to his bloody ways.

Before his dragon was a full Turn old, Thread began to fall once again. He had never been among those who believed that it would return, so he found himself suddenly in the role of future protector. Which, ultimately, suited him far better than that of assassin, yet would one day put him in harm's way. It has only been within the past six months or so that he has been able to fight Thread himself, and he is a little disappointed that his training as a mercenary did not well prepare him to become a Thread fighting dragonrider. V'mel's tutelage was the only thing that saved him from certain death, and though he might not say so aloud, he is certainly grateful to the man.

In case he is shown with his tattoo, Pernese dragons do not resemble traditional dragons. Among other things, they have smooth hide rather than scales, and forked tails. This is R'shahar's dragon, specifically:
