Quote: Backdated to early December. SadalsuudIt had been a while since she had last seen Sinope. The last time the pair of them having had crossed paths back in December at the height of the strange aurora that had danced over the skies for a few days. Since then Sadalsuud had become more powerful, no longer a basic senshi - but a Super of the Court just like Sinope– But. But… Sinope had seemed to have disappeared, calls to his compact going unanswered and no trace of him around places where they had previously met up. Sadalsuud gave a quiet sigh as she cut across the trees, leaves crunching under the soles of the sandals that were as green as her magic as she stepped out into the clear open space near the park fountain. She’d wanted to show Sinope that she was a super like him, wanted to show him the end results of the gift that Miss Katya had given her, even if a part of her still sometimes had doubts that she was truly ready - after all she wasn’t the strongest member of the court - in fact she was nowhere near close– And even now she still wasn’t too sure of how her magic worked - although she knew enough to know that it had kind of helped when she had helped Miss Kitten to escape from the scary order senshi that had been threatening her friend. Sadalsuud’s footsteps slowed for a moment as she got closer to the fountain, as she absently listened to the burple and flow of the water, even as a part of her knew that it was late and she really should be making a move to be heading home. Just a few moments she told herself, the sound of the water relaxing, a few moments won’t hurt - because after all home was just a mirror step away - and the mirror in question that she was making her way towards wasn’t that far away.

Faustite
Who lingered beyond the treeline? Through all the shadows of anonymity, Faustite only sensed a Dark Mirror Super. Somewhere beyond twisting woodland paths, autumnal patterns on the floor, and ambient entertainments haunting the air was one of the Mirror Court -- one of the black sheep allies. One of the many Axinite sought to protect with the mission given to Captain Faustite. One that, for all their parasitic grandeur, meant no ill will toward the Negaverse.
And yet, that presence might be one who so loved needling the creature that once was a youma captain. The smell of copper and moondust predicted his arrival, then the light of eir eyes and stomach reaching beyond the night, then the heat, licking and touching and slipping arms about tree trunks. With all signs of eir approach bidden clearly, only one who thought no danger broached them would remain. This one did.
How fortuitous. Sinope always found himself untouchable.
But as the youma general swept through the forest, subtle cinders contained behind tempered glass, ey saw no familiar purples and cyans coming off the figure -- ey saw gold clovers amassed on a green overlay, buckled shoes, a conservative outfit better composed then that of the court's biggest thorn. She looked docile, pensive, nonviolent. She looked into the water that still bubbled up its Sisyphean task.
Ey smiled, mirthless, against the dark. "I expected someone else." The words popped and cracked like animal fat eaten by fire. "How disappointing."

Sadalsuud
The sudden bloom of aura took her by surprise, or maybe it had always been there and she had just not noticed it - but either way, it seemed that Sadalsuud was not quite as alone as she thought herself.
She was already stepping away from the fountain as the unfamiliar voice spoke up, green eyes startled as she whirled around, although she held her ground - at least for the moment–
And now that she was picking up on it the aura was most definitely a chaotic one, strong too - on par of that of Mr Avior - but it wasn’t one from her court.
Which meant the Negaverse - at least Sadalsuud was pretty sure that it meant the Negaverse–
Well okay if she was being honest, maybe not pretty sure, because she hadn’t had that much experience of the Negaverse outside of her encounters with Miss Kitten - but she’d like to think that she was sure enough.
"You know of our Court?" And the words were partially blurted, drawn out by the other’s words, by the ‘expecting’ someone else comment, as Sadalsuud ignored the part of her that was trying to remind her that there had been a Negaverse aura with that horrible knight who had taken one of the Court because she hadn’t seen a face and because Miss Kitten was part of the Negaverse as well and was her friend as well as adorable to boot–
But Sadalsuud couldn’t help but take a single hesitant step back, even though she tried to be surreptitious about it, because the whole horrible Knight thing hadn’t been that long ago.

Faustite
"I do." The burning general advanced as she moved -- easy steps, corrected by cicatrices of old conversations. What familiar voices drummed in eir ears went unmentioned, better kept private, wrapped away, sealed in the blackened grate that gilded gold with inner fire. The Dark Mirror plied their trade on secrets, on duplicity, on coy acting.
As ey strode, the gait no prowl and the direction no more than connecting ghosted points of a quincunx with the fountain as epicenter. Smoke burned their desperate helices into the air. Faustite paced through a private bitterness held close to self. With each breath, more and more of it loosened like char on grate until ey could breathe sentiment and speak statement without hitching on an uninvited memory. How they clung like congealed fat, less injurious and more a nuisance with each passing day.
"I know much about your Court." Lit eyes flickered back to her curiously before turning back to eir direction. "I know its involvement behind the mirror disappearances a year ago. I know your princess was ambushed, captured like a commodity. I know your court's private tussle with a murderer and rapist in its own fold."
Faustite halted near the lip of the fountain, where water once fell in sheets off the brim. A hip leaned against that now-dry concrete with black nails rapping gently on an old, geometric design. "And I know you need a mirror to escape confrontation. So.
"You're going to help me find someone." For all the girl was gilt in clover, in flowing dress and carefree clogs, she looked no more a threat than any of their ilk. Expendability was such a plague among their number.

Sadalsuud
Maybe there were some of those from the Court who traded on secrets and duplicity, but Sadalsuud wasn't one of them. She was well aware of the fact that she was a lousy liar and knew that deliberate intrigue just wasn't in her.
The second step backwards was almost almost automatic, although she hesitated at the other's answer in the affirmative to her question, because maybe the other was–
The next set words derailed her thoughts, a look of indignation on her face as her green eyes glared at the Agent, the same indignation colouring the blurted words that tumbled past her lips.
"That's not true!"
Because whilst it was true that there was still a lot that she didn't know about the Court and that the senshi that she had met all varied, Sadalsuud was sure that there was no such person - not amongst the Court.
So indignant was she that it took a few moments for her brain to catch up to the words that had precluded the murderer and rapist comment, but it was enough for her eyes to suddenly widen as she suddenly felt very cold.
Because...
Because whilst she wasn't sure what the other meant by mirror disappearances, because the only mirror disappearance that she knew off was the mess with Queen Altea and Solamnia, the Princess being kidnapped wasn't exactly public knowledge - well at least Sadalsuud was pretty sure that it wasn't–
And whilst the mirror that she was making her way towards wasn't too far away, she was suddenly very conscious that it wasn't that close.
She whirled anyway, as she remembered the chaotic auta, legs tensed to break out into a run.
"Clo..."

Faustite
A flicker-blink posed the general before her, the grated flame guttering at her skittishness. "So eager to leave." Fingers cloyed the air with a beckon.
"Tell me what you know of Sinope. Spare no detail and you may leave." Faustite's gaze trained on her even as the air behind her warped in subtle shifts and splays, like a camera lens springing out of focus. Within was one of many strange interstices between Destiny City and the Rift, where youma form as abscesses in daily affairs. Soon the first tentacles bubbled out from the hole, arms alight with a thousand tiny bonfires.
Worse than Kiuchi and plays just as innocent. Worse the panderer that pleads innocence when we're all wearing blood.

Sadalsuud
Sadalsuud's voice trailed off, her magic uncalled as the air in front of her planned for escape route started to twist and warp in front of her, her mouth dropping open in an undignified squeak as the first tentacle bubbled out the hole.
She took a step backwards as another tentacle followed and then another as the second was followed by more. The thing handily cutting off her planned for escape route.
The officer behind her was still speaking however, Sadalsuud's face pale as she half turned back, whilst at the same time trying to eye the tentacled threat behind, her expression visibly torn.
"Sinope?" Her voice was visibly startled "I haven't seen him in ages." And it was even true as far as it went given that the last time the two of their paths had crossed had been - well - last year.
Although maybe it wasn't something she should have admitted to, the blurted words an admission that she did know the senshi of slyness.
"But he's Court like I am."
Hopefully it was enough, maybe it would come across as if she only knew Sinope in passing - at least Sadalsuud was very much hoping so, green eyes surreptitiously eyeing the tentacle thing to see if it could be edged around whilst simultaneously not wanting to get too close to it–
Because even more than before she wanted to be gone from here, especially because she wasn't sure that she really wanted to tell the officer with the creepy tentacle thing about her friend, albeit one that she hadn’t seen in some time - in fact she was pretty sure that she didn't.

Faustite
"You side with anyone wearing your same brand of darkness. I like that." How loose a reason to defend someone, yet potent for its solidarity. Years could pass with Sinope missing, and if that wretched turned up near this senshi, she would defend him by virtue of his uniform. Fight to the death for him. Perhaps take lives for him. What a charm that Sinope never earned -- what a trait wasted on the Mirror Court. If only they could draw her back through darkness to the Negaverse. But a two-fronted war over one girl was a price too high; surely her ilk would embark on a crusade to retrieve her again.
Out popped eir squid youma at last, tentacles splaying out as if in deep waters. Its firefly blazes grew bright in each rolling arm before fading to a dull glow. Drawing arms together like an unbloomed flower, it poised to shoot forward --
But a gesture from Faustite halted it. "Tell me about the last time you saw him." Eir gaze lit on the golden clovered hem to her dress, the golden matching buckles on her shoes. Dark stockings made her out as a uniformed schoolgirl, not much older than he looked. Bobbed hair, suspicion with a measure of apprehension mixed in her eyes. Was she someone Sinope wanted in his life? Was she an asset of which he never spoke?
Ey paused, then added, "You won't be hurt." So much rested on self-preservation. Pushing her amounted to so little in response. Stakes filed away her compliance.
Ey paused, then added, "Neither will he."

Sadalsuud
A startled look momentarily flickered across Sadalsuud's face at the other's ‘like that’ comment, her features scrunching up in an equally brief frown, because she hadn't said much of anything - at least she didn't think that she had.
A shift in movement drew her attention back to the tentacles, although Sadalsuud really wished that it hadn't, because it seemed that there was more to the thing than just tentacles - much, much more.
She took another involuntary step backwards as green eyes took in the way that each of the tentacled arms appeared to blaze bright, before dulling almost like a banked flame and in the way that the arms drew together as the squid-like creature appeared to tense.
"Clover's luck" the two words were an almost whisper, her hand clenching on the medium-sized four leaved clover that formed, because whilst she still didn't have the best grasp of what her magic did apart from looking pretty, it was better than–
Her thoughts trailed off as the squid-like creature halted, the clover clenched in her hand glowing brightly momentarily before fading…
And then she found herself turning as the officer spoke up once again, indecision warring with uncertainty at the other's words.
There honestly really wasn't that much to tell about the last time she had seen Sinope. It had been cold, colder than it was now with a strange aurora painting the skies.
She had messaged the other asking for a meet up and had wrapped up some Korean sweets for Sinope and a mug that she had made during one of her pottery classes and glazed in colours that matched the colours of her uniform…
And whilst she hadn't really said anything about why she wanted to meet up with Sinope her friend had obviously had had the same thought and had surprised her with a coat.
The thoughts flickered in her mind quickly, reflecting across her face, because it wasn't as if the answer to the other's question would tell the officer much - at least Sadalsuud didn't think it would.
But there was still the creepy tentacled creature, made all the creepier now that it was fully out in the open - and the fact that the officer hadn't exactly come across as being particularly friendly.
"There really isn't much to tell" she said at last. "Just a brief encounter last winter."
It was even true as far as it went.
She half turned again, intending to leave - and whilst she wasn't sure how she was going to get past the fire tentacled squid. She had called on her magic—
And if there was any time that she could do with a bit luck then now was a pretty good candidate.

FaustiteBoneless arms pitched outward, a shadow of a hug, then whipped at the air as the youma jettisoned itself toward the Mirror Senshi. Those arms snatched and swatted, harried and swept and struck, meeting only air each time, meeting only frustration, and the youma pursued doggedly for the scant second before its general spoke.
"Cease." The youma bubbled angrily before it vanished, dragged wholesale through space in an instant, where it reappeared at its general's side. Faustite seized the creature by its gelatinous head, fingernails digging into the thin membrane, as he drew it toward eir burning core. With free hand ey unclasped the three cinchers to eir glass corse and the heavy tempered plates dropped with a heavy thud. Fire now free, it licked and danced with the wind until Faustite pressed the insubordinate youma to eir grating. "Don't refuse orders again." Tentacles flailed desperately while the savory scent of calamari filled the air. Soon ash followed, belched lightly from pipes, before Faustite allowed eir youma its freedom once more.
Faustite's gaze lifted to their company. Strange that it never once touched you. A vague smile, almost apologetic, formed. "My apologies."
That smile faded instantly. "Tell me about last winter. As much as you can. Every detail, however insignificant." At eir side, the squid youma flopped into a heap. It bubbled its defeat to the nowhere air. litian just crossposting this now because my docs are multiplying and i don't want to lose this <3
